I've been really happy with my experience at Anytime Fitness El Mirage. It's a clean, comfortable gym with a great atmosphere, and I appreciate how easy it is to get a quality workout in with everything well maintained and organized. What really stands out is how well this gym is operated. Everything runs smoothly, the facility is always taken care of, and there's a genuine effort to make members feel welcome. It's a gym. It has equipment and is open 24/7. When signing up however, the manager mislead us into signing up for a mandatory year contract. Hugest hassle to cancel, still ended up having to pay through the entire year (paying twice a month) even after moving. He sad we could cancel any time. We could not. Couldn't even do anything through the manager. Nearly impossible to get ahold of anybody by phone, and when emailing, they refer you to their 3rd party membership management service. Other Anytimes in the area are nicer, this one was just convenient. Will never sign on with AF again though after the massive headache with the contract and membership. I was on this side of town to visit a friend. Decided to afterwards stop in and get a workout and was surprised that the gym is not to Anytime Fitness Standards! The equipment is worn and old, and honestly it brought me back to the gym in my old high school (not good). Again read all comments..... when it comes to canceling the membership no one will help you. I was a member for 3yrs Went and cancelled my gym membership was told if I wanted to freeze it by the employee Scott I mentioned no. I was there to cancel. 6mos later I get hit with a collection call I owed over $450 due to a uncanceled membership. I never got a heads up by the manager Scott when that should had been his job was to collect membership money as well as initiate and terminate memberships, yet he would message me to gossip or to forward messages that certain members missed me or wanted to take me on dates I don't know if it's because they wanted to keep their number of memberships high because that's all they care about but that's just rude. They need to understand that they will have members leave and it's okay. I'm currently working on a lawsuit and maybe get my money back as the collectors also mentioned I was on a new membership contract, that I had recently signed a new contract when the only time I signed was back in dec 2016 so my contract should have been expired and on a month to month membership. I hope this Can at least save the hassle to someone. And good luck to all members when they want to leave the gym. It'll cost you more than joining. read more

When I tried to cancel my month to month membership, I was informed by the new owners that I had signed up for a contract yearly membership. Completely not true. Well, here's another reality check for the owner. Unlike some of the previous reviews, mine is not with regards to the size of the gym as, although small, I find it adequate for my current needs and the fact that I can access it at any time with my key is a plus. My complaint tonight has to do with the "bouncer" (or a least he thinks he is) they have working nights. I don't know his name or I would post it here but his approach tonight was unprofessional to say the least. I signed up about 3 months ago and I see him (and he sees me) pretty much every time I go. Tonight I was joining my friend for a workout and when I got to the door I realized my key fob was not working so I had to wait until he arrived to access the facilities. While mid workout, This guy comes up to me and says "can I see your key? I noticed he let you in tonight and you need to have your key with you", to which I replied "sure here it is but it is not working". The first words out of his mouth were "we don't even have keys like this". I thought "Oh, no... you did not just call me a liar". I told him "Sure you do, I got this one 3 months ago when I signed up". He tried the key and said "It doesn't work" ( I know, I know... what a revelation, right? Didn't I just tell him that it wasn't working? Then he says "If it doesn't work, why didn't you call to get another one?", so I had to explain to him that this was the first time it didn't. See, if he would have come up and said "Hi there, my name is Joe Blow and I've seen you here before but I've noticed that your friend let you in. Is there something wrong with your key?" (For example) I could have explained the issue but instead he took a much more aggressive tone. He then turned to my friend and said "I am going to take it of this a different way, since you let him in the money is coming out of your account" I thought "What money would that be?" but I let it go. We started arguing and I told him that he needed to relax, that uI was going to call in the morning to report the incident and resolve the key issue. He said that he was calling the manager and I said "Fine, do that, get it fixed for me" (I was furious) A few minutes later Scott (manager) walked in and instantly recognized me and my friend. The first thing I told him was that he needed to have a conversation with this guy because of his approach, and my friend offered a recap of the altercation to him" The guy wouldn't let it go and continued to say that he had a job to do. I told him that I understood that but that he shouldn't talk to anyone like that. See... I am not going to hit the guy over a stupid argument, I am not dumb. I will take it to social media, contact the owner, file a complaint with the BBB and do whatever I feel necessary to get the word out and attempt to prevent this from happening to anyone else but he doesn't know me from Adam. I'm sure that after reading this you can understand how risky his ways are; how talking to the wrong guy the way he talked to me tonight could be bad for his health. We went into the office and he asked for my last name, looked me up and gave me a new key. I said "See how easy that was?" He once again tried to justify the way he acted by saying "I have a job to do" and when I told reiterated that my problem was with the way he came up to me and my friend he said "Oh, come on! I hurt you with the way I talked to you?" I walked away but I though "No, punk, you didn't hurt me; you disrespected me" Anyway, Scott (people call him "coach") if you've been there, seems to be a good guy and he tried to make it right by giving me a free month but although I appreciate the gesture, that employee should seriously reconsider the way he does his job and perhaps the owner should consider having someone replace him. I am still on the fence on whether I will stick around or not. read more

The manager, Coach aka Scott, is a fantastic help and is dedicated to his customers. He is super helpful and makes everyone feel welcome in the gym. The owner Jen also cares about the gym and members very much! This gym is not massive, it's not a luxury gym either. But it has everything you'd need for a health transformation or to maintain your health. It's definitely a great place to feel inspired to be fit and get in better shape! It's never too busy, you will always be able to finish your full routine without anyone hogging machines, benches, or weights etc The membership is affordable and it gives you access to all Anytime Fitness locations on the planet. I've visited gyms in Los Angeles, London, San Diego, and more! They all have showers etc read more

The Manager Scott is one of the best employees I've seen. He looks out for the customers as I am a witness to this. I was here when a fan stopped working and he took his tome to go out of his way to go buy a new one for the gym here in el mirage Arizona. That stuff right there is just priceless. My husband added me on to his membership for my birthday and so far, I like it. It's a gym without the meatmarket feel. I like that I can go anytime I want. The equipment is great. Lots of variety, always in good, clean, WORKING condition. There is no babysitting available so you definitely have to plan ahead to use the facility. Also, absolutely no one under 16 is allowed on the gym floor at all so don't plan on having your tweens or younger teens coming along with you to use the equipment. They claim to offer classes though I've not had the chance to experience them because the times don't work with my schedule at all and I'm not sure what the variety is on the classes as no one else seems to know when I ask, but so far, I'd say that this is worthy of 3.5 to 4 stars. :) read more

So where do i start moved into this area 1 year ago with aspirations to by a house and signed up at this gym so I could be able to work out whenever I was available and liked that it was close. Gym was smaller than I was used to but not an issue cause there were only a few members real personal gym. The problems started when I decided to move and needed to cancel my membership the management in this place really lost it became hostile and refused to cancel so 4 months later here I am still calling and leaving messages so that the can cancel membership and refund last two months of service ‍ save yourself a headache!!! Small gym. No regulations, so people take up multiple machines at one time. Just not a good place to go if you really want to get a good workout in. Plus it's so expensive for a membership. Esporta or EoS is at 24.99 a month for access to any of there gyms and the size is soooo much bigger. Not even a close comparison. Plus management and ownership of this gym is not even close to the quality you would expect for a gym like this. Owner doesn't do anything to upgrade the gym. Poor. Small gym next to my house, but despite its size it has everything I need. This is my first month but I have been through many gyms and I love that this seems clean, less crowded, and staff and customers seem friendly enough. Bad customer service dealing with Scott the owner or worker, Long Time member since 2015 and consistently use anytime fitness, and even tried to convincing others to get membership anytime fitness because if your just interested in working out and not be bothered best place in my opinion i even used it when in other states when i travel even in the Philippines. 1st problem on my last travel trip i used a gym in Arizona 13915 N Dysart Rd Ste A4, El Mirage, AZ 85335 and not sure why but they turned it into my home club even if i use the cypress california location because i live around the corner from. 2nd problem since it was made my home gym im not able to cancel unless i physically go to AZ which makes this more inconvenient. Not only that the owner was really rude when i had to ask him if he can send the cancellation papers. Im really frustrated ive been trying to cancel my membership for over a month now. I 've left 4 messages to the Az anytime fitness and no responses even in emailing them. NOTHING!!!!! please just get me out of paying the dues i just want to cancel why is it so difficult. I dont care what other posts say, this gym is wonderful! I feel bad that people are missing out of a great workout and experience just because they are closed minded. Other gyms dont have Coach Scott! He is really the heart of it all. I had a 3 year membership at Planet Fitness and NEVER have they allowed me to reach my potential like Coach has. Honestly I have met and known more trainers here than the 3 years I was over there. It truly is a family atmosphere where everyone really pushes each other positively. I haven't even met the owner but Coach Scott makes me feel like shes there with us. He known her so long, she's like a daughter. That feels good to know because it reinforces the family atmosphere. Do not get a membership at this gym! You've been warned. The staff never shows up during their own scheduled office hours during the week so if you ever have any concerns or need to change your billing info etc... they're never there to help. After new year everyone is gym crazy and wants to workout as much as possible, right? That was me. The 2nd week of this new year the gym shut down for an entire week due to "weather damage". No email was sent out or anything, just a sign on the door. Any reputable gym would have given notice or offered some type of rebate on your membership. Nothing. None of the dumbells are labeled with their appropriate weights (so it's a guessing game every time), the cardio machines are all jokingly outdated, it's always really hot inside, and they must not clean much because it always smells like BO. I signed a year contract unfortunately, but I'm done after that. What a crap gym... Never again. read more

Ok so I have been going to anytime fitness for a couple years. I have been to many of them but today I went to this location and there were 3 men who looked like they may be homeless with all of their luggage and groceries in the gym. They were dirty and honestly I was pretty uncomfortable working out with them in there as I was the only girl. After being there for a while I noticed 2 of the guys weren't even working out. They were just sitting around. Shortly after 2 of the trainers walked in and they looked at the pile of luggage and groceries and didn't even care. They just walked by. The staff here does not care about the facility or the members at all. This is the closest facility to my house. So hopefully they will crack down on the rules and pull it together so I can enjoy my gym! read more

I'm doing a 7-day free trail just to see how it is. First thing I was turned off about is the size. It's too small for me, but other might like the diminutive space. Next, I noticed the hand grip on the lat machine was torn and out of place. After that, I went to use the dumbbells and they weren't all labeled as to what weight they were. I had to look closely at some and guess the rest based on placement. That was just the first day. The next time I came the music was to loud, even though it was my kind of music and I usually listen to music while working out, it was still too loud. The next time I came the music volume was ok but it wasn't my type. Usually I'll wear earbuds but on the loud day it would have overwhelmed it anyway. I want be joining. Been coming here for about three years now. The price is decent given that you can come to the gym anytime you please (24/7/365). Coming from a larger gym; there is less free weights, which means that you will have to change your routines accordingly. However; aside from the lack of free weights, the availability of this place makes it worth while. The new owners seem nice (haven't really spoken with them given my schedule) and the gym has received a bit of a makeover within the past year. Good place to workout! read more

This gym does not deserve a single star but I had to pick at least one so. Yeah machines are alright (NOT A SINGLE SQUAT RACK) and somewhat clean. But when it's time to cancel your membership, it just goes downhill from there. The location where I originally signed up at is in Happy Valley and they told me that my account MAGICALLY got TRANSFERRED to another location. I already knew in that moment that this is not going to be easy. I went to the other location and they told me that I need to pay for 100 dollars because apparently BRAD from HAPPY VALLEY location signed me up for ONE YEAR instead of the MONTH TO MONTH that I told him I wanted to do. I ended up paying 135 because of course they want more money from me. It is not even about the money, they are bunch of greedy liars. NEVER AGAIN. Also, I keep seeing people getting charged after cancelling their membership so it will probably happen to me to because they are greedy liars. This gym is a joke! Yeah it has the basic equipment needed to get a decent workout in, but if you are a serious gym goer you will be disappointed. There is not a single power rack or a bench. They want you to do all your compound lifts on a smith machine. Chances are you'll be run off whatever you are using by an elderly person or the "trainer" that is training one. Definitely disappointed in this gym and franchise. I have been an anytime member for 4 years in Flagstaff, AZ which has a top of the line Anytime with people who know what they are doing. I hate to leave bad reviews but.....I was a member for many, many years. When I signed up I was under contract for 2 (or 3?) years for which I couldn't break unless I paid a huge fee. Regardless, I've been a long time customer, way longer than my original contact term. So somehow, much to my surprise, I was informed I've signed a contract in perpetuity (?) And I didn't inform them in the proper way that I was moving, which evidently involved some incredibly complex written procedure (verbal isn't good enough). Consequently, they say I still owe for my last month, which I don't agree. Regardless, they sent the disputed amount of $40.00 to their collection agency! Yes, forty dollars is worth the franchise losing a customer for life. This issue occurred several years ago. Every year I get a call from their collectors, every year I tell them where they can put their $40.00! Just beware of this business. Be smart, do NOT give them your social security number. Better yet, go to another gym. read more
