One of the best gyms I've ever been a member of. What are my qualifications to say that, might you ask? Well...I am a time traveler. I have used countless gyms across my various treks throughout the space-time continuum. The earliest gym I was a member of was Cave Fit back in the Stone Age. Which featured rocks bound to the ends of tree branches as functional dumbbells, and cave drawings like sabretooth tigers telling you "u rock and look tasty", which really contributed to a great atmosfear. Point taken? That was a spear joke, I hope you got it. Anyway, I am now stranded in the year 2025(at least until I get my continuum transfunctioner repaired), but it's ok. Because at least I have a good gym. Anytime Fitness in Ellington has nearly everything you need to get or keep yourself in tip-top shape. Which is important, because sometimes your calculations weren't as accurate as they should have been and you end up stepping out of the portal and find yourself immediately chased by a hangry velociraptor. And you don't always have a Snickers on you. The staff is very friendly and supportive, the gym is clean, and the equipment works perfectly. They also manage the amount of members well so that it's rarely packed or too busy in there. As a matter of fact, if you avoid going during peak hours, it might just be you and a couple other people in the entire gym, which is perfect for self-conscious air guitar enthusiasts. Also, recording is not allowed so you never have to worry about ending up in someone's vapid TikTok video. The majority of the members seem cool too. But I'm not terribly qualified to speak on that since I almost never talk to anyone. But most members are thoughtful with good gym etiquette. There are almost no scream-grunters or deviant humans who just throw/drop their weights after completing a set. My only complaint is the gym isn't kinetically-powered. You know, where the process of actuating the machines generates the electricity to power the gym. But that hasn't been invented yet, so I guess I can't hold it against them. Anyway, that's all for now. I'm waiting for myself from the past to travel to the present with a functional transfunctioner, so I can go forward by a year and see if I've made good progress or not. I've been a member at Anytime Fitness for over five years, and I've trained in gyms for more than 12 years without ever receiving a complaint about my workout habits--until now. Unfortunately, my experience at the Ellington, CT location has become very disappointing and uncomfortable, and I've decided to cancel my membership and wanted to share my experience via this review. On 7/21/25, the manager, Patti Fleeher, told me that she and other members disapprove of the noise made when I re-rack weights, claiming it could damage the equipment. This surprised me, as I follow a traditional strength training routine--using UMAX dumbbells, Olympic plates, and Precor USA machines, all of which are built for heavy commercial use. I do not perform Olympic lifts, CrossFit, or powerlifting movements that are typically loud or disruptive. These UMAX and Precor products are designed specifically for durability in high-volume gyms, with commercial-grade frames and long warranties. My routine hasn't changed in years, aside from naturally progressing to heavier weights as I've gotten stronger. The real issue is the atmosphere. Anytime Fitness's mission is "to inspire people to better health through support, education, and a safe and welcoming environment." Sadly, that's not what I've experienced here. Instead, I've felt unsupported, unwelcome, and increasingly self-conscious during my workouts--something that's never happened to me in over a decade of training. What was once a place of progress and focus has become uncomfortable and discouraging. We were visiting Ellington for about 10 days and the manager at this -- the local -- Anytime Fitness allowed us to sign-up for a one-week trial membership that fully met our needs (especially as we had several days of rainy and cold weather). The manager was exceedingly nice and cooperative and the gym was well equipped, clean, and everything we could ask for. read more

I joined their 6 week weight loss challenge for women over 50 and have had great success. The trainers developed an exercise program that worked around my many limitations. When I struggled with an exercise, they switched me to a different one that targeted the same muscle group. The nutrition plan that was provided was helpful in not only melting the pounds off but increased my energy level as well. I'm smiling more than I have in years! They have dieticians available to help make adjustments in your nutrition plan as you go, and they are covered by many insurance plans. If you are looking for a team to support you in getting back into fitness and/or exercise, Anytime Fitness of Ellington is a great place to take that first step. There is no judgement here - not by the staff nor by the other clients. I had a medical issue which required a Doctors note, this allowed me to cancel my membership to cancel 12/2018. On 3/2019 began receiving collection notices from ABC Finance, called them and was told they don't care except to get paid. Contact Ellington Anytime fitness and they wanted to recreate the wheel. Nov 2019 JT Sprague informed me that they called ABC and took me off collections. Great.. Nothing ever heard. Credit report checked 3/2022 and find ABC showing derogatory condition. Sent email to JT Sprague club manager, no response. Tried to email facility Email shut down. Why do you not have email access or your employees whose faces you post (owners etc) not provide their email address. read more

Be very careful when you're contract is up or if you cancel membership with them - they continue to take payments from your account. I was told to my face I fulfilled my contractual obligation when leaving there , signed papers and thought all was good. My contract that i have a copy of even states I was able to leave the gym when I did. That did not stop them from taking almost another $220 out of my account the following month. When I called to ask what happened I was told by Patti it was a mistake an oversight and that it would be refunded. Weeks go by and nothing. I reach out again (it took many times reaching out) to get to talk to Patti and then she texts me saying upper management would be in touch. I've never been contacted and never got my money back..my husband even tried to call there. They did this to atleast 3 other members who left around the same time I did. The others reached out as well and they decided to selectively refund who they felt they wanted to..atleast 2 of them that I know of and not me. These people will rob you and take every penny from you if you don't pay attention. Even having a contract that shows I was correct in leaving and that $ should not have beeb taken. I gave many opportunities for them to do the right thing. I would never recommend this franchise - stay far away!!!! They only care about your money not your contract not your health not the relationship you develop with your trainer. read more

Gym wasn't bad when I was a member, however, you need to watch your payment method after cancelling, apparently for years. I cancelled my membership almost 3 years ago, and out of the blue they've decided to start billing me again. No response to calls or emails. Billing company says nothing they can do and that the gym needs to handle it. No use for a company that messes with my money. read more

I love the Staff, they are all so supportive! I have never felt good about going to any other gym before. Being a Plus size person really hurts your confidence but I love the program and look forward to going. I am seeing a difference in my body each week. I work with a trainer weekly that designed a program that really fits my needs and has helped me recover from a knee injury. Than mange to get in 3 times a week on my own.There are also some great group coaching classes (if that is for you ) or a wonderful set of machines to work on your own! read more

BY FAR the best gym I have ever been to! I think I have tried out almost every gym in the area, and will absolutely stick with Anytime! They offer everything you could need, including TRX cables, a heavy bag, medicine balls, sand balls, bosu, ropes, machines, all kinds of equipment! Also, the staff does an amazing job. Everyone is very friendly and super helpful. The trainers always make sure I am doing exercises correctly, even if I am not their personal client. They are also incredibly motivating and supportive. I have seen more results here in a shorter time than I have at any other gym, ever. I do the classes- each is a half hour but it is a GREAT workout- and I actually look forward to going to the gym now. I am proud of my weight loss and credit this location. I have belonged to many gyms over the years. This is my favorite. There are many classes to choose from,plenty of equipment all for a reasonable price. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. As a commuting college student and part-time worker, it is extremely hard for me to find a "normal" time during the day to work out. Sometimes the only free time I have is really early in the morning or really late at night. That's why I was so excited when this 24-hour fitness facility was built. It's so convenient that I can work the gym around my schedule and not just the staff's schedule, and it's even more convenient that my membership gives me full access to every single Anytime Fitness gym. Not to mention how affordable the monthly cost is.. Now I have no excuses! When I walk into the gym, the staff is always so warm and welcoming. The most impressive thing to me is that they know everyone's names. Most gyms don't care to do that! It's nice to know them all on a personal level and to know that they do care about us as individual people, not just as members who pay monthly dues. Along with this, the gym has a very positive atmosphere. I've never seen a staff member or gym member upset. Things are always kept professional and the members always leave with a big smile (and sweat) on their faces! As for the upkeep, the gym is always immaculate. I have never seen a spill, items left unattended, weights left scattered around, or any bad odor upon my arrival. Anything that has been left behind by a member by mistake is kept safe in the staffing office until he or she remembers to retrieve it. I have never felt unsafe at this gym after staffing hours. There are cameras everywhere that record your every move, and the door only opens with member key access. There are emergency necklaces hanging on the wall that you can wear around your neck. If anything happens, all you have to do is push the button and help is on the way. Just when I thought the gym couldn't get any better, I met with the trainers and started signing up for sessions (specifically with Matt). All of the trainers at this gym are absolutely wonderful! They are never condescending when speaking about diet and health but rather educating and informational. They always seem to build a personal relationship with each and every client, and I can tell that they want what's best for their clients. They take all of the measures necessary to prove this such as coming in at 6 a.m. to accommodate a busy schedule or meeting with someone multiple days throughout the week. I've never seen an individual unhappy with his or her results while working with a trainer at this gym! For me personally, I have met all of my goals. Now I am motivated to set and reach new goals all thanks to the guidance and motivation from my trainer. I enjoy and my experience with my trainer so much that I've convinced 3 of my family members to sign up for training with him as well!
