I joined the Indian Valley YMCA because I was interested in getting back into cycling classes. I searched "cycling" on Yelp and this YMCA branched popped up. The establishment itself is great; it is clean and well-maintained. There is plenty of parking and a variety of amenities. The staff is not as friendly as I would expect and I find that the branch can be rather disorganized. They make changes to the schedule without contacting members but, rather, will send out a notice on Facebook. They will email us, though, to advertise programs and items for purchase, which I find annoying. Additionally, I left two messages for someone to contact me about a membership-related issue (because the staff at the desk were not able to address my question) and I have yet to hear back from anyone. I also think the group fitness classes could be scheduled at more convenient times. For example, on Mondays on the Fall 1 2016 schedule, there are 8 classes scheduled. Four of these classes are offered outside of the typical 9am to 5pm work hours and all four of these classes are scheduled AFTER typical work hours (none are offered BEFORE typical work hours). I would prefer to workout before work and the only before-work options tend to be at 5:15am, which is a bit too early. I would like to see more 7am and 8am offerings. Finally, if you're only interested in group fitness classes, the membership might not be worth the costs. I would say a YMCA membership is only worth it if you are able to take advantage of all the amenities they offer.

The Indian Valley YMCA is outstanding on so many levels. Its way more than a gym. The facilities are pristine. They take incredible care to maintain the facility. Exercise classes are included in the membership and there are choices for everyone. I'm a huge fan of the spinning class on Saturday morning. Swim lessons are amazing. They are not free, but you get a discount as a member. My son has been doing them for a year and the results are remarkable. His relationship with water and waves has totally changed. The swim teachers are rare finds. There are two pools, a shallow family pool and an 8 lane Olympic pool. A family membership is above $90 and there are subsidies at certain income levels. It's worth the investment in yourself and family.

Excellent facility and staff. It has all you need for a reasonable fee. They offer classes and senior options.

I carry a few attachments which definitely differ in appearance than what they have on the floor. However, today in the bumper plate room, there were eight 45 lb plates that belong on a regular floor, which takes them out of use for those machines. Other plates aren't supposed to be used. There's a sign stating that rule. Yet, nothing is done because this is not the first time. I'm all for the high school and college kids coming in at a reduced price and working out but they need to follow the same rules. A lot of them have no gym etiquette, not to mention they're going to hurt themselves with some of the s*** that I've seen. If you want to bust on me for hanging my bag on a cable machine on one of the handles that keeps it off the floor and tell me it could be a trip hazard. Yet, weights thrown about the floor in 'bumper plate' room is not?

Review of Camp Challenge:…read more Overall, I like the gym, I do not like the Challenge. It just seems too risky and sets you up to be an enemy of the gym when you lose your money. I don't think the level of commitment of the TEF staff was where it needed to be for the amount of money you put down. I definitely would have stayed at the gym if I didn't already lose $500. Trevor is awesome! The class schedules are not consistent enough for my schedule and this led me to have to attend both Vernon and West. Even after doing multiple classes and weigh-ins at West, I was never added to the list. Also, the 6 week limit is tough because not every suggestion they made got results or at least not in such a short time frame. After 3 weeks, I plateaued and was never able to get out of it even after trying some different things. Tyler can say FTDI as many times as he wants but without consistent supervision and quick action by the staff when you aren't on your loss track, you are kind of doomed to fail. I was off the goal by 12lbs and I was told that I gave 100% at class and definitely didn't cheat enough to cost me that 12lbs. It seems as if the majority of the challengers JUST made the 20lb goal; that's a little too close for comfort for a person who only has about 25lbs total to lose. The management just wasn't as organized as I would have hoped. Even emails came really late, if at all, and the end of challenge survey didn't work when I tried to do it so I gave up. I'm hoping they can improve because I believe in the system they use but as a poor, overworked grad student, I can't just throw $500 away and I know I did as much as I could on my own to reach the goal.

I struggle to find a life long balance with eating and exercising. I am not new to strict diet and bootcamp classes. This program was great for me because I needed the push to start being healthy again. The 6 week challenge kept me accountable for my eating and work outs. It is a lot of work. Its a lot of cooking and preparing for each new week. I have a long way to go but I know I'm on the track. The Vernon gym is very nice. Lots of space and good equipment.

Just like trainers do with professional athletes in the NFL and NBA. Amazing concept!! So helpful and needed. I live in Vermont and have been looking/waiting for a stretchlab for years. However! My parents live in Branford , Connecticut and i drive back and forth every other week. Conveniently past Glastonbury... The thing is that Stretchlabs are franchises. So each location is independently owned (although...take note!!! The Glastonbury and new Branford locations have the same owner!!). So I had injured my own self running hill repeats () and made an appointment at Glastonbury Stretchlab to get stretched because I was struggling!! LOL I showed up at their location and the owner was manning the front desk. He is a very odd dude. Not great vibes. In any other setting I would not engage with someone as creepy as this guy. But he was the only guy at the front desk and he wasn't the one going to stretch me. So ‍‍‍. He suggested i sign up for some package purchase deal that would actually save me money on the stretching appointments I wanted. AND STUPID ME I thought he was being like nice and helpful. And then I gave him my credit card... That's how they get you. Friends. That was MONTHS ago. And this scammer started charging me every damn month until I called them on the phone and DEMANDED they stop charging my card. And the woman who answered said I'd signed up for an automatically renewing membership with a 3 mos minimum (of course) and she couldn't understand why she was unable to delete my cc from their system (of course). But this phone call would be considered my cancelation of the recurring membership (surrrreeeee.. ). And then they proceeded to attempt to charge my card every month. And every month I sent them a threatening email telling them to STOP. And then, last week, they ran 5 charges on my credit card for a total of $839!!!!!!!!!!!! I obviously reported all 5 charges as fraud to my cc company. I also filed a complaint against these scammers with the CT Atty Gen. Avoid these people and this business like the actual plague!
