Good gym! Not much to really improve on. Parking lot is plenty big. Layout is pretty nice. Plenty of cardio machines. Big crossfit area and a little bonus room behind it. Two sets of cables. A kneeling hamstring curl machine. Couple power racks. Honestly I like this place. The photos they have online do it justice and I really couldn't get any photos without having lots of folks in them so I opted to not take any. Overall, nice space. read more

I had been a member here since July 2024 and I mainly use the cardio equipment. This equipment, especially the treadmills have always been in pretty rough shape but over the summer of 2025 a 2 of the 6 were broken quite a bit. this obviously created wait times at an already crowded gym. I was sent a survey by Anytime Fitness in which I rated my experience at 5/10 and mentioned that the broken treadmills were the reason for the ranking. Within a few hours of submitting the survey that AF sent me I got an email from Matt the owner telling me that he was refunding my last month and cancelling my membership. Guess they don't really want the feedback. I was a bit taken aback at first but Matt is actually doing me a favor as I have since looked around and there are many better gyms in the Heights and several of them are cheaper. The gym is small and will not have adequate parking again as soon as whatever is going into the old Lola location opens. You will also encounter sales people setup inside selling steaks and random stuff which is very weird for a gym. read more

I've been coming to this Anytime Fitness for the last 2 years. Outside of the limited parking and business of the location, I've never had an issue until recently. For background context, this is a gym equipped with a dedicated power rack room, deadlifting barbells, bumper plates, belts and straps available for members to use, and even videos on their TV's where they advertise their coaches teaching their clients deadlifting. I've been deadlifting there with no issue for 2 years weekly. So I was quite surprised when I was confronted recently by who I assume is Matt, the owner, while I was deadlifting, just as I had for the past 2 years. As I'm walking to add more weights to my bar, he steps in front of my walking path to block me and, in an accusational tone, tells me I am slamming the weights and being too loud. He did not introduce himself as the owner of the gym nor was he wearing any clothing that insinuated that he worked there, but instead he jumped straight to confrontation. I tell him that 315lbs is going to make some noise even when being set down slowly, but that I am indeed setting the weights down in a slow, controlled manner with a 2 second negative. I invited him to watch my next set to see for himself, but he was not interested and returned to his office, so I continued to my next set. He returns shortly after, accusing me of intentionally slamming the weights again, and that I am going to damage the carpeted floor and the barbells. I ask if it would be better if I deadlifted out on the rubber mats, and he says, verbatim, "If you want to deadlift, go find another gym." Very unprofessional considering the existing deadlift equipment and coaches advertising deadlifts on their TV's present this as a very deadlift-positive gym, but I stop deadlifting and go do another exercise. I was not happy with the confrontation, but I was willing to let it be water under the bridge and not deadlift at this location going forward. What happened next was quite shocking and childish. I arrive the next day to workout only to find my key has been deactivated without my knowledge. Matt locked me out of the gym with no phone call, text, or notification following a very tame disagreement between us the previous day. I would expect a business owner to, at minimum, reach out to discuss the issue with me, and we would resolve it together in a professional manner. Instead, the decision was made by this owner to act in a dramatic and unprofessional fashion by deactivating my key without notice. Because of the unprofessionalism, I'm going to share some information that Anytime Fitness doesn't publicly share, because I've worked at an Anytime Fitness in the past, and I know the real reason why they deactivated my key. As a current healthcare worker, I am part of a program called Active & Fit through my work. which covers my membership for the gym. It functions identically to programs like Silver Sneakers and Renew Active. Anytime Fitness Owners, to put it lightly, are not very fond of members who sign up through these specialized programs, because instead of paying the $27.99 bi-weekly fee, $100 enrollment fee, $50 key fob fee, and $35 bi-annual club enhancement fee, individuals on these plans pay a flat $28 a month. It's corporate mandated that they accept these specialized plans, but owners of AF franchises dislike it because it reduces their profit. When Anytime Fitness locations like the Heights start getting close to their maximum capacity (which this location is getting close to based off of the parking situation), they start either cutting members who are on specialized plans like this or force them to sign up for a regular membership. This is absolutely the reason he deactivated my key without notification. God forbid somebody who works in healthcare has benefits when it comes to supporting their own health. And now, as Anytime Fitness tells staff to do when given a negative review, they will begin bugging their current members to write 5 star reviews in order to drown out this negative one. As I said, I worked for Anytime Fitness for several years, I know their tricks, which is why I work in healthcare now where the focus is on helping people become healthy instead of trying to maximize profit. So if you are a member of this gym and you have Active & Fit, Silver & Fit, Silver Sneakers, etc., you can look forward to them either deactivating your membership without your knowledge, forcing you to switch to their normal membership plan, or they will just outright treat you like garbage and use the smallest perceived slight to lock you out, just like Matt did to me. I'm appalled and disappointed in this location and the unprofessionalism. So just as Matt passionately suggested I do, I have indeed found another gym. I will be escalating my experience with the Houston Heights Anytime Fitness to AF Corporate to ensure they cannot treat their members as poorly as they did me going forward. read more

No a/c crowded and dirty and crap equipment and very tiny : I recently visited this gym, and unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations at all. The space is tiny, making it feel cramped and uncomfortable, especially when the gym gets crowded. There's also very little air conditioning, which makes it stuffy and difficult to breathe, particularly during peak hours. The lack of airflow adds to the already uncomfortable environment. On top of that, the gym is dirty--equipment wasn't wiped down, and the floors felt sticky. It's clear that cleanliness isn't a priority here. With so many people packed into such a small space, the lack of ventilation and cleanliness made my experience even worse. read more

Bruno Mars has Finesse... so anytime Finesse comes on the radio, I know it's him. Anytime Finesse is not to be confused with Anytime Fitness. Which is in The Heights and stuff. Of course the "anytime" is the main selling point. You can legit literally deadass come here anytime and that is why we've come so close to joining it on many occasions. But different locations have different systems and if you join one and then go to another, you can end up paying extra. They transfer your membership and charge it 50-50 between the two gyms and if you want to cancel you have to cancel at both, so things get really creepy. So you're kind of restricted to one location and the price is kind of high which I guess it's because you get to come here any time of night. That's a huge benefit but at the same time forcing me to go to the gym within certain hours can be better for your schedule and actually motivate you to get there more. It's easier to be lazy when you know you can go anytime. As for the actual equipment, a lot of it is a little bit creaky and old and not the best. I'm torn between 3 stars and 4, but the fact that is 24 hours leads me to give it at 4 - but honestly that's very generous. read more

The gym is located in a nice area, is well maintained and clean, and the staff members are friendly. I had attended this gym for almost a year before I had to cancel my membership. There were at least 3 instances where another member of the gym was harassing me and making me feel uncomfortable. I brought this to the attention of the manager who escalated the situation to the owner of the gym, Matt. When I brought up my concerns to Matt, I did not feel like he took the situation seriously. He said he would review security footage and never did. He told me to park where security cameras can see, and to press the button inside the gym that calls for police assistance. (I should also mention that this member pays for additional personal training services on top of his regular membership, while I pay for just the regular membership). I continued to go to the gym after this conversation although each time I was paranoid this member would show up and harass me again. I no longer felt safe working out at this gym, so I emailed the owner to bring the situation to his attention again and his response was unprofessional and unacceptable, I have attached images of the email conversation . If you are looking for a safe space to work out, this place is not it! Management will protect their staff and not their members. read more

Chris is a crook! The worst customer service! No one can ever be reached! They have a google phone number that never works. No email on file, but it's not like anyone would respond. Don't believe me, try calling the number on the website (713) 869-3222. Also, beware. They say you can use any ANYTIME location, but they will randomly switch "home" gyms and start charging you more without your permission. Chris said he was the GM (yea right) and refused to issue me a refund or to give me the difference. I told him that I would stick to my home gym and he still refused and said there was nothing he could do and no one to escalate to. I told him to cancel my membership and issue me a refund. He refused that solution as well because I did not provide 30 days notice. I asked to speak to anyone above him and he refused to provide me with any information. Staff is nice and the gym space relatively clean but holy smokes this equipment is trash. The lay out of the gym could be better. You're working out on top of each other where other areas don't get used. I am editing this original post to be fair... I travel all over this country going to Anytime's where I work... this gym has the most outdated equipment. The barbells have corroded bearings and need to be cleaned and greased or get new bars One star for a great staff. One star for clean facilities and one star for Olympic plate selection. That's generous and I have dwelled on this for a few days now The dumbbells are not well organized and the whole set up really effects lifters in the 40-90kb range being split across two racks. There's two smith machines and one bench press. No kettlebells for heavy lifters Not enough 5 and 10 pound plates. Here's a fair review. The investment back into this gym comparatively to other gyms. In the Houston area... is evidently less. I'll give it 5 stars based off the great staff and clean facilities if you invest back into your gym. A quick and convenient place to workout at, minus a lot of the stereotypical "meatheads." While rather small, it still has a lot of the basic equipment needed for almost all types of gym enthusiasts. Does offer spinning and yoga. Haven't tried either one yet, but might eventually. Best part of this gym is the fact that it's open 24/7. I like this gym a lot, I don't have to stress about getting to my gym on time before they close and rush my workout routine. It it a very clean facility and well lit. They do take a little bit long to replace worn out or broken accessories, for example; a frayed band that was on the tricep pull down, some ankle claws(for hanging upside down) and re-holstering a bench but otherwise I can't complain. This place is always clean, and up to date. It's not as big as the other chains, but it has everything I need. The only downside is parking - as this area gets busier and busier, it's going to get tighter and tighter. At least there is a park just down the street with parking, and your going to a GYM, right? You can walk a few steps! As far as the broken equipment - the only things that seem to be slow in getting repaired are the aerobic equipment. Weight machines get pretty fast treatment. read more

I have now been a member at anytime for the majority of the year and can say without a doubt it is the best gym in the area. I was once a member at a few of Houston premier fitness clubs, but I much prefer anytime due to it's convenience, equipment, and location. The owner, Matt is very friendly and makes sure everyone feels comfortable and welcome. The equipment is either brand new or very well maintained and feels brand new. The gym is very clean, and has more than enough equipment for great workouts no matter what your goals are. DISGUSTING RESTROOMS 24/7 and LAZY UNCARING STAFF. They have very limited staff hours and rarely clean the restrooms. I use to come often and the restrooms are the biggest issue as well as staff rarely being there. It's funny how they can't keep the restrooms clean but placed a warning sign about getting your membership cancelled if you "sneak someone in". Why don't you put that kind of action towards your staff if they leave the restrooms as filthy as they always are. I will take a picture next time read more

Only thing going for the gym is its location in the middle of Houston Heights. Was a member for couple years and from day one until my last day all weights, cardio equipment, and even dirty carpet have not been updated. One would think this Anytime Fitness, which ranks near the top in membership in Texas and continues to add members everyday, would reinvest in the gym. Owner seems to not care about gym's functionality because he runs 4 other business out of back office in gym and is more focused on pushing his Amazon "best seller" book. This is a great gym for those who want a solid workout without all the extras that raise prices. My entire family goes here. We also use two of the most incredible trainers, Cely and AJ McDonald. They have devised workouts and nutrition plans targeting our goals. Cely has worked with me to rehab after two surgeries. This is my gym! I love it. Music is good. Employees are nice and there is plenty of equipment to use. I go during odd hours which is why I assume there are plenty of options to use when I am there. Why 4 stars instead of 5? They do not have a huge ladies room to change clothes/shower/prepare for work. It's just made for one person. I am used to the type of facility where it has a huge ladies room. Also, there is this one stretch machine that I love and they do not have it. This explains the 4 stars. That's okay..I can utilize what I have around! This is a great gym for those who live nearby. They are part of the Universal Healthcare Network which I love...so check it out. I like this gym. I tend to get sporadic urges to go to the gym during odd hours. Sometimes 5a, sometimes 9p, or even a late night read on the treadmill at 2a. The 24 hour aspect is really what sold me. They have a pretty good collection of machines (8 treadmills, 8 cardio machines, Jacob Ladder, free weights, mats, balls, kettle bells, foam rollers (!), and other machines). Most are working, but the third treadmill from the mirror is a little finicky. The buttons don't really work so I avoid that one at all cost. They have showers, a tanning booth, cubbies, and lockers if you need them. The gym is kept pretty clean, and I think the temperature is just fine... I've never had an issue with it being muggy. You get a free personal training session with your membership. Took me three weeks to finally set an appointment, because my schedule is just a little crazy. But, once I got an opening, Bobby was able to work with me the next day. He's really passionate about what he does, and would totally recommend him to anyone looking for a trainer! Busy times are from 5-7p. And sometimes at 7-8a. Weird. I try to go to the gym whenever it's empty, so I'm experimenting with the hours. read more
