I recently joined this gym and was seriously impressed. First off, the entire open gym area is extremely clean and well organized. The weights are laid out perfectly, and all the cable machines are in great condition. The energy here is just different -- it really makes you want to work out and push yourself. I highly recommend upgrading to the club amenities package too. The massage chairs are perfect for post-workout recovery. Also, JD is always there to greet people and genuinely help out whenever needed, which makes the experience even better. This is one place I would absolutely recommend, hands down. The facility is clean, and you can't beat the convenience of it being open 24/7--it makes fitting a workout into a busy schedule so much easier. I have been a member of Anytime Fitness San Clemente for over a decade, but cancelled my membership in March. I spoke with BLAKE, who assured me my membership had been cancelled. It, in fact, was not cancelled. I was charged for another month in April. I called again in May, and was told yet once again my membership was cancelled and my refund was processed "yesterday". Once again, that was a blatant lie from Blake. No cancellation, no refund, and I was charged again in April. I tried to call today, but no one's answering the phone. I want my membership to be cancelled, to have an official Notice of Cancellation sent to me, and a refund for two month's worth of dues. All this to say that Blake is giving a bad name to Anytime Fitness with his sneaky actions - Stay away from the San Clemente location, at least until Blake gets some proper training or no longer works there! I've been really impressed with this gym. The floors and bathrooms are clean, the staff is friendly and professional, and the music keeps the energy up. I can tell JD (trainer) takes pride in working here. If he isn't with clients, he is cleaning the bathrooms and equipment. Small gym and the equipment is just ok. No arm and tri machines and nothing for your abs. Lots of management turnover here, the current owners are horrible. Worked out there for 8 years, cancelled then they sent to collections, unethical management, so many other choices and cheaper! Don't waste your time, I should have quit sooner! Brandon the manager at Anytime Fitness keeps the gym clean and well maintained. I was here before he began managing it & it was not very pleasant at all. He's leveled up this smaller gym with protein drinks & healthy snacks in the vending machine he added on. Most vending machines carry crap but Brandon has led this great gym with a higher integrity & I know I speak for many when I say we all welcome the positive changes and his helpful demeanor. The owners have added a red light therapy room and a recovery room with high quality massage guns and rollers. Give this place a try it's a wonderful option to have in San Clemente read more

Go to this gym if you want your credit score lower! On February 6th, 2025 I contacted Anytime Fitness San Clemente to cancel my membership. Despite online cancellation being required to offer customers in CA, they did not have that and I provided notice in writing and on a phone call. I was on a month-to-month ongoing contract since summer 2022 (with no signed terms, it automatically moved month-to-month after a year). I received minimal communication from them, but got a call explaining I owed a cancellation fee to cancel. There was no contract signed where I agreed to a cancellation fee. Now, in August, I just got a collections report without any contact ever about what the charges are for. This business doesn't follow legal CA requirements for membership cancellations and has retaliated against me for trying to cancel. I do not owe any money to them since I paid monthly and cancelled in writing in February. read more

This is a clean gym and great in every sense EXCEPT when/if you need to reach their office and/or management to cancel membership!! I have been avoided by them since January 2024 when I finally reached out to corporate AF for their help in resolving this matter! I have made several recent attempts again to contact this location via text message to Brandon as well as several voice messages to this location requesting a call back and to no avail. I moved out of town and the few times I've been in SC I've physically gone by AF and nobody is ever there to surreal with!!! So as far as customer service goes as this gym it's a 0 tbh!! I've now had to contact my bank to handle this issue! Just be careful signing any contracts with this location as they make it impossible to cancel!! read more

They Still use the Outdated "yearly Contract" that you CANNOT get out of even if you left the state ,country, it Doesn't matter to them. On top of it all They will even renew it without your permission if you do not remember or contact them prior. Keep in Mind they will NEVER answer their phone Never call you Back and always stick to emails That never get read or replied to in a reasonable time frame.They will then Tell you you have to cancel Within 30 days of the day you say you want out so They Can specifically push it back to charge you more time for no reason at all other then Greed and them being upset, and boy is it obvious when you want out. Nobody is ever there working as well so The Young kids Bombard that place and let all their non payed membership friends in there and basically take up the areas or act foolish. To say they're Unprofessional is an understatement. One of the worst Customer services in all of This industry. I been in it for over 22 yrs and if their was a trophy for worst Customer service they'd Win that award Every year. I was a member at this location for 11 years. I moved out of the region a year ago and saw that my auto payments were still being paid. After realizing that, I tried to cancel my membership by phone 4 times during business hours over the last two months. They never picked up the phone or returned my calls even though I left voicemails stating my intent to cancel and requesting information on how to do so. I also sent an email to them directly through their website asking for direction on how to cancel. I have not used their facilities or any Anytime Fitness facility in over a year. I just received notice that they are sending me to collections for $68. The owners of this location should not be trusted and clearly do not value the needs of their customers. I was having some pain on the right side of my back and was unable to workout as I previously was. I've been working out at Anytime for years and I've watched different trainers and knew that AJ was very knowledgeable about the body. IAJ was able to examine and detect exactly what was going on. We did one session together where he taught me a few exercises to do on my own. Within 2 days I was feeling almost completely back to normal!! AJ knows his stuff! I been trying to get in contact with this fitness center for the past 3 months to cancel my plan but they never answer their phones?!? It's probably because the workers are more focused on using the gym for free instead of working. I can't go in person because I moved out of state and have no anytime fitness centers around me. The 2 worse parts Is that I call the other anytime fitness centers and they say they can't help me because this is my main location. My parents and brother live here in San Clemente, and I visit them quite often. I'm an avid Olympic weightlifter, but it's hard to find anywhere other than crossfit gyms that have equipment I need, and most of them have limited if any "open gym" times, as I don't do the "WOD". Squats are the most important, and I was looking somewhere close by I could squat. Luckily this location has two very nice power lifting rigs. My brother and his fiancé are members here, and I filled out a form online for a pass, and I received a call within an hour. The gentleman I spoke with not only knew my brother, but he knew about his recent surgeries and what not and inquired about it. He was very friendly, and informed me I could come in and check in with a front desk person for a guest of a member pass. The facility is very clean and open with plenty of equipment. They make it unnecessarily difficult to cancel your membership if you have moved away

This gym accepted a minor's signature on a contract without parental consent. I've gone down to the gym no less than 10 times trying to speak to an employee. There's not been an employee present despite the posted hours. We've called and left messages to try to handle this with them amicably. I finally received a call back after leaving a message suggesting legap recourse. They are refusing to void the contract eventhough my son is a minor and therefore the contract is void. Terrible gym! Very irresponsible practices. And extremely rude once they actually do respond to you. If you decide to get a membership here good luck if you ever want to cancel it. read more

I wrote a review yesterday and it was moved to the not recommended reviews. All these good reviews are for the previous owners 2016, 2018, 2020 and most of 2021. Aj and Joey don't work there anymore. New owners charge new fees without notice. Management refused to cancel my membership. I was a member since 2016 and quit yesterday. There are new owners the last 3 months and have terrible customer service. In addition, it's dirty. They only vacuum, never mop floors. Their rating is not based on recent reviews. I tried out this gym and I really liked it but I was put off by the fact that they have limited staffed hours because I have safety concerns. Also I didn't want to sign a 1 year contract. This gym was empty at peak hours so that would be probably the biggest selling point as opposed to other gyms in the area that are a mob scene at 5pm. My only complaint about the equipment is they don't have a selection of smaller weights (under 5 lbs) and resistance bands like most gyms do. read more

Best gym ever! The staff is friendly and helpful. The trainers are over qualified with high level degrees in fitness related fields. The equipment is all brand new and state of the art. It is clean, quiet, and comfortable. It is never too crowded. I love that it is open 24 hours a day. Cara teaches some great (and free!) Yoga and zumba classes. They also have digital exercise classes that you can take at anytime, my favorites are kenetics and kick boxing. I was a college athlete and my boyfriend is a marine, we both love this gym. There is something for people at any fitness level. You have access to their gyms all.over the world, no extra charge. I've taken advantage of this while on vacation in Chicago, Oregon and nor Cal so far. It is definitely a higher quality gym than your 24 hour or fitness 19 (yuck). I would and do recommend anytime fitness to everyone! How much I enjoy going to this gym was part of the reason san clemente has become my permenant home (yep actually wanting to go workout is a big deal to me)... and well overall I couldn't ask for a better gym! read more

It's like my home away from home! Being a former college athlete, I love this gym. They have state of the art equipment, there really is something for every kind of work out you could want. The tredmills, ellipticals and bikes have high tech touch screen tv's on them, that you can also play your ipod from or surf the web. The machines are all brand new and easy to use. They have free weighs and squat/bench racks. There is a boxing bag, bands, TRX, digital classes, really everything anyone could want. It's very clean and peaceful. The trainers, owners and managers are nice, helpful and not at all pushy. There is definately a family/ strong community vibe here. Only one thing... NO d-bags allowed! All the current members are wonderful people and we (the gym going community) would like to keep it that way! ;) read more

The gym itself has a very open design with plenty of options (free weights, machines, bells, you name it...) for whatever work-out you might have in mind. This is my first reason to recommend checking this place out yourself. Aside from that, it's very clean. Guests are provided with cleaning supplies including towels and spray bottles. These can be found all around the gym. The bathrooms and showers looked great as well. As a member of Anytime Fitness at a Bay Area branch, it was my first time visiting another facility. Upon entering I was greeted by Tyler, who is mentioned positively in other Yelp reviews. The reason I'm writing this review is due to his impressive service. This gym is well laid out and has all the equipment you need to get a good workout. Lots of options to vary your workouts with machines, cables, dumbbells, weighted bars, bands and so much more. Super friendly and helpful staff and other gym goers are always pleasant as well. Excellent and positive environment. I have worked out at many gyms and Anytime takes the cake. Allt he staff here knows your name, its small and almost family like in structure, and its so clean. I've never seen a gym owner work so hard to keep a gym clean. They listen to clients about their schedules and make classes work for everyone and even if you're not paying for personal training they are more than willing to help you learn new things. They most recently started doing small classes focusing on different "scary" workouts at the gym to teach you how to incorporate ladders and ropes and it has been awesome. read more

I've been a member of 2 gyms in my home town in Washington State, but feel this gym tops them both. Joey is the most helpful employee I have met in any facility that I have joined. He is also friendly, kind, and considerate. He keeps the gym so clean as well as keeps the equipment organized. Even though I'm just a visitor I feel comfortable here and I think this is primarily because of Joey's efforts and personality.
