Used to be great. The trainer/coaches are wonderful but management is missing the big picture. Very disappointing. My husband and I participate in tennis clinics 3x a week in the evenings (6:30-8:00) with a group of about 10-12. The social aspect at the bar after was a highlight. The club recently sent out an email that the bar and cafe now close at 7pm. Kinda silly. So many people would go to the bar (not so much the cafe) in the evenings. This is the way to keep members - offer the social and the fitness. They instead added a number of items to the cafe menu and close early. If staff costs are the issue why not look to your gym in NYC. Self serve. You scan your card and it self pours wine or beer. Very sad to see the place go downhill. You can see staff morale is being impacted. Great facilities- poorly managed. read more

***This review is for Carvana PPA Tour Event only held at Life Time*** My eldest daughter and I returned to Life Time to watch the Select Medical Orange County Cup this past June 2025. It's always nice to come here and be spectators on some amazing pro pickleball matches. We only attended the Semi-Finals on Saturday and Championship Finals on Sunday. It is so much fun to watch great pickleball showcased by Anna Leigh Waters, Anna Bright, Catherine Parenteau, Rachel Rohrabacher, Jorja Johnson, Tyra Black, Parris Todd, Ben Johns, Gabriel Tardio, Hayden Patriquin, Federico Staksrud, JW Johnson, CJ Klinger, Connor Garnett, and many other players. I normally don't watch the amateurs play. However, one day, I would like to compete in the amateur circuit just to experience it at least once. If I really like it, then I may continue it for longer period of time. The only gripe I have at this event is the limited food options they offer. I feel they need to offer more from Life Cafe or have some food trucks come through. I understand space is limited, but they can fit about two or three food trucks on site IMHO. Hope they will make some changes to this venue in the near future. On the bright side, the free shuttle from and to Outlets of San Clemente is great. It's a well oiled system. I participated in a PPA pickleball tournament there recently. Very disappointed in the way Lifetime treated visitors. We couldn't use the restaurant or bathrooms (members only). Tournament participants had exit the facility to use porta-potties in the parking lot. The nicer bathroom trailers were not yet available. Despite paying to play in the tournament, Lifetime required visitors to download their app to sign a waiver (but the cell service was poor and the app wouldn't load). Not ten minutes later I started to receive several sales calls about joining the club. I won't participate in any future events at this place. read more

This place is hands down the best lifetime was a member for a long time at Laguna Niguel recently joined back Keegan signed me up great guy friendly gave me amazing tour of the place and was a great first impression and got me to sign me and my wife up. There is an entry fee, but what's great about it as you can use it towards things at the gym that are important. I used it for personal training. My trainer currently is Jack he is so knowledgeable and has gotten me already to almost do a muscle up and he's very focused on longevity and health extremely impressed with their hiring of trainers and I highly recommend you to sign up and join it's worth the money if you want good training a clean facility and overall just a great place to be again shoutout jack and Keegan awesome people who really care hope management sees this read more

I have always loved this gym ever since my husband introduced it to me in 2018. At that time he was in Minneapolis so we would go to the Lifetime at Target Center or Eden Prairie....my personal favorite especially when it was snowing outside... it's magical!! However, since we are also in San Clemente, we joined the San Clemente gym and I couldn't be happier! The one drawback is that the actual weight area inside is pretty small and they don't have all the equipment that bigger gyms have. However, what they do have is an outside workout area that I've never seen at another gym. The interiors at the San Clemente gym are spectacular... very coastal and beautiful! The locker rooms are very nice with individual lockers that you program with your personal code. There is also a wet sauna, a dry sauna, a Jacuzzi, showers and a spa. This particular gym was previously the tennis center in San Clemente so there are lots of tennis courts as well as Pickleball courts. I would say the pool here is one of the prettiest and they have a lap pool if you're a swimmer! The Lifetime Café is the same as others, but I've always found it really good and they have a bar just in case! I absolutely love it here! read more

If you are a senior, go elsewhere, because they have contempt for you here. This very expensive fitness center survived in its early years and through Covid because of the many seniors who took up pickleball. As the sport has grown, they have intentionally made it more difficult for older people to get court time, but worse, they have restricted the hours in which Medicare memberships can access any portion of the fitness center at all. For a couple of years now, unless you pay a hefty additional monthly premium over and above the membership that is paid by Medicare, you are not allowed to access the club in any way after 12 on weekdays. This morning I came in at 9:25 AM. Turns out, this is five minutes before my allowed access time, because it is now limited to 9:30 AM to 12. I didn't know. The desk attendant and manager both told me that I had to sit down and wait 5 minutes. I've been a member for years, I was five minutes early, and they would not wave me through. They actively want seniors to leave. They told me that I should not complain, because using the Medicare plan means my membership is free. Got it? Medicare is paying them because I selected them on my plan in my annual enrollment. But they think seniors are getting a free ride and should be grateful for rude treatment. Zero stars. read more

The salon is extremely unprofessional. I booked an appointment and they refused to do my service because the hairstylist had double booked herself. I happen to be an NPC Bikini competitor and she jeopardized tens of thousands of dollars that I spent going into this competition because of her inability to manage her time. The Salon manager was also extremely difficult to deal with. I took her 20 minutes to come up to speak to me, and when she got upstairs, she let me know. She already knew what happened, which was extremely rude and poor customer service. I pay almost $700 a month to go to this gym and I'm appalled and I will be contacting corporate and I will be telling anyone with ears who goes to the private school. This review is strictly for the PPA event. It was a pretty gloomy and misty day, but you can still see how beautiful this facility is. Located in the hills of Rancho San Clemente, just minutes away from the beach, I can imagine how great it must be to play tennis or pickleball at the courts here when it's nice and sunny. The PPA event was essentially held outdoors, only members were allowed inside and in their cafe. They had a separate area for bathrooms (a truck and portables) and the food offered to spectators were like school cafeteria or airport store foods (cold and premade). The events and competitions were a lot of fun, they had LOTS of courts in the back, which kind of made it hard to navigate around or watch other players since seating were pretty much nonexistent... but it was a great venue overall. To catch really good action, you had to just stay in the championship court. Lots of excitement there, saw some amazing plays, and got to interact with some pros in the crowd. read more

Every day morning or evening you have to wait good 20-30minutes for a parking spot. People have gotten in fist fight too over parking. Only people at reception are sweet. After entering people around stay in pissed off mood. This place has lost its charm. read more

BEST MASSAGE OF MY LIFE?... Yes. Yes it was. Every massage I have had here has been exceptional but Michael at San Clemente Life Time Spa was so incredibly good. My sister went to him last month and told me he was the best but the experience surpassed what I had hoped for. He was so informative and hit every spot I needed. Rude staff and no parking Was greeted by a staff who asked me to park as a guest on the road or school. This is understandable given there are major parking challenges here. Fair warning- get there early and be prepared to walk even as a member. When I told the greeter that parking seemed to be challenging consistently and that I was hoping to leave the club I was at. She rudely responded saying it didn't matter anyways because there is a waitlist. Between poor service, a lack of want to bring new members and address parking issues this is a no go. People are too lazy and privileged to park on the street. If the parking lot is full, they just park in all of the fire lanes. This facility does nothing to enforce it. They don't ask anyone to move or make any announcements. I'm sure that will change one day when a little kid is drowning in the pool and the firetruck can't get into the parking lot because people have their privilege parking spots in the fire lanes that no one enforces the wrongful death suit will cost $$$$$$$$$$. read more

I have been coming here for years. It used to be great. I still go with my family because it's right next door but.... It's hilariously overpriced, staffed by mostly upset teenagers. You can hardly get a drink without having to call the front desk, the kids academy is so filthy you can barely stand the smell, our kid gets very sick every time and we once had to argue over their treatment of our child. The "salon" sucks and when I've made the mistake of getting my haircut there I have to go somewhere else to get them to fix the bad haircut. There are flys around the bar, the floors and tabletops are gross. I've seen food on the floor for days. The towels suck and I'm pretty sure they are watering down the mouthwash, and the cleaning supplies are always left out and unattended. Mold on the floors on the locker room , and sometimes the jacuzzi smells so bad you know not to go in it. Not worth the money at all Yet the employees (mostly) are smug and rude. One Café worker told be "tough luck" when there was no bartender, same guy said "not my problem" on another occasion .... He was the employee of the month apparently...:/ The price keeps rising but everything is getting worse. This isn't how it was. So I know they can do better. read more

Great country club style gym. The actual workout space is small but they are adding an outdoor area. I couldn't go higher than 2 stars since they are constantly raising prices. We joined 4 years ago before it was actually open. If you don't mind the constant price increases and are looking for great amenities but a small work out area this is the gym for you! For me it started feeling like I was simply the cash cow because of the extra charges on top of the high monthly price. I should also warn you it's incredibly crowded at the most popular times. Left the gym for 2 months during the holidays and returned back in January 2023 to a now $299 per month membership for a single person for this "Diamond Elite Country Club". Don't even try to question the price or else you encounter rude employees who can't do anything about it. Seriously, the girl at the front desk reduced me to tears. Parking is worse and so are attitudes and the new vibe with all these stressed out people who can't find parking, can't get child care and have to wait on a 38 person waitlist for a class. The amount of complaining I have to endure alone makes me want to find another gym. A lady came into a morning group class late screaming about how she had to wait 20 mins to find parking. I mean yelling at the top of her lungs in a 50 person class. Is this what you want Lifetime? They are trying to thin out the crowd by limiting the number of times Laguna Niguel members can come per month and adding an additional $500 one time fee to join. (which is going up soon!). They are one of the few fitness facilities around that have figured out how to stay open during the pandemic. Everything is unbelievably clean and well kept by the numerous attendants that always seem to be round wiping, cleaning, organizing and being overall just real helpful. Masks and temperature checks are required in all the indoor areas but the outdoor errors are so expansive including incredible tennis facilities etc. that it's a very pleasant experience. Think five-star resort with a heavy emphasis on fitness and tennis and you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect at this place. Everything is brand new, everything is top-notch. Between the fitness classes, yoga, killer pool area, tennis, and spa-like amenities... it is made for resort-style living and an all-day escape for many of the members. Make no mistake, you pay for what you get, but if you're truly interested in the best fitness experience in South Orange County this is your best choice. read more

My son and I were at our first PPA Tour (Pro Pickleball Association) event at this facility, and we were underwhelmed. There was basically no disabled access. The food options were akin to dining at a recreational softball/baseball field. When I tried to find a better option, I went to a peak at the restaurant on site and was greeted with a rude. "May I help you?" by a female security guard. I asked about the food options. She said, "This is for members only." I said."Is the only area for food near the courts?" She said."Yes." My son ordered a roast beef sandwich and had to wait while they were bringing more out. When he returned to his seat and opened the sandwich, it was not roast beef, but instead a tomato pesto sandwich. The seating area was reminiscent of my junior high school's quad, a concert amphitheater, only there was astroturf. It's not great for people like us who have back issues. I saw one elderly gentleman struggling to get up the stairs with the assistance of 3 people. There were no handrails in sight. I don't know how anyone in a wheelchair could attend this event, let alone use the restrooms that were outside the venue in trailers in the parking lot. You have to climb high precarious steps to enter, and at the end of the day, the toilets stopped flushing, and there was no water to wash your hands. Very disappointing. read more

Typically this club is very nice. So clean. And great classes! This review is for the Pickleball tournament. The club owner double dips earring exorbitantly high gym fees and tournament fees. But the club members are pushed aside during the two weeks of PPA tournaments. (Set up, pros practicing, matches, and clean up). From the reviews it's clear to see this club is overcrowded. It's insanity the weeks of these tournaments. The semi trucks, merch booths, pop up tents, portable toilets, etc take over rows and rows of parking. Inside the club is trashed and difficult to access. I'm sure some would prioritize these tournaments over the club membership. But for me, it's a matter of not having room for both members and tournaments. read more

After a 3 year membership at this location we were told by the front desk staff we can no longer use this gym unless we pay a 1000 dollar initiation fee . We have been paying. Close to 500 a month for our family membership , never missed a month and even paid an extra 50 dollars a month to use this club . There was no email or letter sent and this greedy corporation only wants to make more Money for its shareholders. Buyer be aware don't fall for the fake friendly staff. That stab you in the back. This review is for Stephanie at the LifeSpa in San Clemente.... Just finished a hard training session the other day for an upcoming Spartan race. My legs were in serious need of attention. Stiff as a board and sore as could be. Long story short, I made a last minute online (LT app) appointment and over the next 90 minutes Stephanie got my legs back in good order. She was very communicative and open to hearing how I was doing through the massage. The pain was excruciating at times but I needed is so bad to get the lactic acid moving. She did a fantastic job! Signed up BEFORE the club actually opened at a rate I was happy with paying. Got an email saying they are increasing my dues $70 more in 3 weeks (giving me less than 30 days notice). I decide to terminate my membership because of the short notice, lack of parking (normally at 9:00am), and the group class always having a wait list. Other than that, it is a beautiful gym. Friendly staff. Lovely outdoors area and a good selection of clothing in the store. It's always clean too. read more

I love this club! I have been a member for more than one year. I learn so many styles of endurance and strengths routines. All the staff and trainers are amazing. They tried to help all members with their ups and downs or downs and ups. Do you want to improve your endurance? Try some cycling classes. Do you want to be stronger? Try some upper body or glutes Max classes. Do you want to be more mindful, stronger, disciplined and focused? Try some yoga classes. Dancing? No problem there is a variety of jam classes where you can find new routines and fun fun fun. I didn't have a chance to try playing pickleball with my friends. Well never say never. We've been members since 2015. We moved to San Clemente from Irvine last year and we were told we were "grandfathered" so our rates weren't going to be raised. The parking is absolutely horrendous. Reminds of finding parking at the mall during Christmas. They recently raised the rates for childcare which we accepted, but the kids clubs is very small and there are still often wait time to get your child in. Now they are substantially increasing adult rates even though we were "grandfathered in." They have oversold memberships and are trying to price people out. This is extremely unethical and no heads up were given. We learned about the price increase when we couldn't sign up for a yoga class on the lifetime app and the message read "your current membership level does not allow this". When we asked for explanation, they bragged about how they are the "most exclusive" club in Orange County and we need to pay more to have access to basic offerings such as group exercise classes now. You will have the most exclusively stressful time at this club that's for sure! read more

Very disappointed in the lack of transparency when it comes to certain activities such as pickleball now being lumped in to their "signature membership" which costs extra. Talking to many other members, this was NEVER disclosed when most of us joined before the club even opened. Supposedly you can still have the "honor" of playing pickleball, but you cannot reserve a court unless you pay an additional fee. The email they sent out to members reads as if you cannot participate in pickleball at all unless signature member so who knows what the actual truth is because I do not trust management at this point. Most of the members are very unhappy with this "elitist" new policy. We already pay a high premium for a club that offers the most stressful parking lot and tiniest gym floor. And to ad insult to injury, you will only be able to use the outdoor workout area that is being renovated if you are a "signature member." It's funny because Lifetime San Clemente main draw was more about using the courts and now it's going to come at additional cost. read more
