This is a solid gym. It's also the only gym in town, so the fact that it's solid is an added bonus, and (IMHO) shows that this gym actually cares about the community it serves. Summary: Small 24-hour gym, very competently run and inclusive, should meet the needs of most for a fair membership price. Jason, the club manager, is unfailingly helpful and professional. Much more so than what you'd expect. The guy could run a gym ten times this size, or do just about anything for that matter. Despite that, he brings no ego to the table and has always been very supportive and down to earth. When I first started going there (summer 2015), he was patient in coaching me through an awkward phase of re-learning to squat and dead-lift, following a series of back injuries that left me pretty messed up and embarrassingly out of shape. You'll see him coaching people on the floor all the time, along with other staff, during staffed hours. A+ on that. The good: The place is clean, well-lit, and well-maintained. Machines and cardio equipment are all new, or new-ish, if you're into that kind of thing. The "bro" clientele is also pretty toned down unlike a big-city Gold's, so it seems like pretty much anybody can feel comfortable regardless of fitness level. Local boys are no longer a source of concern in Thurmont, to the extent that they were ever a concern, so that's a non-issue. It's also a fairly low membership fee with none of the weirdo cancellation fees and marketing gimmicks that many gyms have borrowed straight from cell phone contracts. Or at least, I haven't yet seen or heard of that stuff at this gym. Student membership for the summer ran me just shy of $35 a month. I've paid $50/month for far worse. Really happy with the cost. Can't speak to classes offered, but I know there are some. The mediocre: The only downside is the relatively small size of the gym. There's not room for everything you'd ordinarily want to use. For example, you have to bench out of a squat cage, which is fine, but you'll be hard-pressed (pun intended?) to make that work for decline, and it'll be a tad awkward for incline. Because of the small size, it probably pays to avoid peak hours, which is easy enough to do in a 24-hour gym. I'd love to see the Zumba (?) room knocked out and the weight room expanded into that area, but needs of the client base and all that stuff. read more

I have been a part of this Anytime Fitness family for 2 years. When I began 2 years ago I couldn't walk on the treadmill for more than 12 min due to my back and hips hurting. In the past 2 years, I have established a consistent work out routine, attend Zumba 3 times a week, completed my first 5k, I have lost 100 lbs and have found a love for power lifting which I also do 3 times a week. This lifestyle change has been a result of this gym and the support I have received from the owner, the general manager (my personal trainer) and the other clients who support each other even when they don't know each other. The people who put down this gym could not have come in regularly or they would have felt the same sense of community I feel. read more

I have been a member at this Anytime Fitness club for 4 years. I love this club! The environment is welcoming and the staff is friendly and helpful. With the recent renovations the club has added many new quality pieces of equipment and a new room for classes. Some of the fitness classes they offer throughout the week are Zumba, HIIT, Pilates, and Yoga. The trainers are awesome! They are very knowledgable, helpful, and willing to help members meet their goals. I personally have met so many of my fitness goals with their help. A membership here is worth it, as the gym is open 24/7, and the classes are included in the membership fee! I strongly encourage everyone to check this club out!!!! read more

I joined this club about a year ago and have since that time I have broken a kneecap due to a fall, and have had major abdominal surgery. I went through the surgery with flying colors thanks to my trainer's knowledge of and encouragement with strength training. He has been fantastic, helping me stay strong to get through these rough patches, customizing my training plan to suit my physical limitations. The staff at the club are very knowledgeable and helpful. The equipment is high quality and they recently added new pieces following their (very nice) renovation. The fitness classes are very popular. I love the club and plan to continue my membership for a long time to come! read more

This anytime fitness is the largest anytime fitness gym I have been to compared to Oregaon, Utah, and Virgina. It's recent expandsion has brought in more equipment. The trainers have been very helpful in working to my goals. With 24 x7 hours it hard to pass up. This is a place that I can work out and not feel like I have to already be at top form. Love this Anytime Fitness. It has become a very important part of my daily life. Have been working out there for a couple years. The trainers Jason, Chet and Melissa are personable and have a great amount of experience and knowledge to share. There is a variety of equipment for all ranges of fitness. No one is left out! I do have to say I like the fact that the gym has three power racks with good bars. My problem is management being rude to gym goers, crowed parking, and being crowed on week nights.... would love to see some gym competition in the the Thurmont/emmitsburg area. read more
