On top of that several of my friends and I discovered that she was charging a maintenance fee unbeknownst to any of the members. She had the members' credit card information, and she was going to charge it no matter what, without even telling people. And when friends of ours brought it to her attention, she got completely argumentative, even though she was completely caught in her tangled, web of lies and deceit. I would not recommend this gym to anyone relocating to Fernandina. There are many better options without all the drama.

What I don't understand is that other Y's I visit have professional cleaning companies in their facilities more than once a day. Here, I've seen the staff clean (obviously not very well). Membership rates are similar, so not sure why this place doesn't utilize a service. 2 - weird policies: no TRXs anywhere. Every Y I go to has them readily available; they're even in most hotel gyms these days. Same with the large exercise balls. Supposedly some idiot had one collapse on him when he was trying to lift weights on it a few years ago, and sued. Seems like a weak reason to get rid of something that is standard equipment in every other Y and gym in the country. 3 - staff is focused on rules and not customers. They enforce a policy for visitors utilizing the nationwide program that specifies the visitor can on ly work out there for 2 weeks. This isn't followed anywhere else, anytime. In fact, some Y's I visit have a separate key fob reader for visitors. No questions, no hassle, come right in. Not this place. Would seriously advise someone to look at other options before coming here. If nothing else, might save you from contracting something you don't want off the locker room floor.

In the past I have always given up or gotten injured, but this gym is different in so many ways! The coach's are phenomenal, and the members are so inspiring and motivating- It is definitely a #fitfam. I am not where I want to be, but I have come so far in 9 months that I have to step back and be proud of myself. I couldn't do a traditional push up - now I can. I couldn't deadlift more then 100 #'s and now I can lift 175#'s. I couldn't sit in a squat at all - and now I can hold it for 30 seconds I couldn't do a pull up - and now I can get my chin over the bar - Those of just some of the things that I notice -- So much progress in 9 months puts a smile on face It was not always easy and there have been many days I did not want to get up and get dressed, but I choose me this year and surprising I have continued to choose me. I have many reason why I could stop, but I have learned that I need to stop making those excuses- If you have ever thought of joining a Cross Fit gym - I HIGHLY Recommend North Jax Fitness.

Not only is it higher then most but you also have to pay separate for a shirt (No shirt/drop in fee combination here). So I spent I believe $45 for a shirt and the drop in...Ridiculous. ***I am in the military and asked for a military discount. The owner laughed in my face and said he didn't do a military discount because he was in the military too. You would think that he would be more inclined to give a military discount since he is in the military himself. Not the case. ****His wife though, was very kind and tried to be as accommodating as possible but was limited due to his constraints. *****The workout was straight off the Crossfit Website. UPADTE: As you can see below the owner and head trainer had a rebuttal for literally every observation, comment and opinion I had of this gym. A clear "I'm right you're wrong mentality" My review stands and I believe this demonstrates the exact character, mentality and attitude I (semi) experienced while there from him; NOT the members or the community (they were great). i am a female, mid 60's, who was visiting Amelia Island from out of state and am well versed in…read moremassage techniques, as i get one once a month in my home state. my tendency, out of availability, is to be massaged by a woman. i had an hour massage with Don, who is part owner with his wife. Don's technique of massage was excellent! he is very knowledgable in the health field and welcomes any questions and health concerns that you may have. he also uses sound therapy, playing the deeper sounds of music while you are massaged. i have arthritis in my neck, lower spine, hip areas and scoliosis. hand traction is very beneficial for me. Don addressed my problems in the massage and his hand traction and pressure was great, similar to pulling "taffy". this technique may not be for everyone, but then again you are in charge of the pressure your therapist uses and what method you need. the healing center is clean, staff is very friendly and the massage room was large and very calming. highly recommended:)

Wow; this is a great little water park for kids and families!…read more Our church school academy here in Jacksonville booked the entire water park for our K-6 graders plus their families 9am until 12:30pm. I drove the big bus for the school for this event today. I didn't take any photos of the park due to the kids; wouldn't be appropriate! If you want to see photos how things are setup look on their website. * Love how the kids water area is setup! They have a lot of large umbrellas set up all around to sit under. They also have a lazy river and large pool. Every one had a great time today! This is definitely a great place for families for the day. That said, the slide is nice (don't wear shorts or swim wear with grommets on it or they'll offer to cut holes in your pants to remove it or not allow you to get on the slide). The lazy river is short but nice. The season pass options seemed decent. Food inside is rather overpriced and food allergies can't be accommodated. That said, plenty of chair to choose from, if you're willing to cross the lazy river by foot you can set up your things in the middle of the lazy river and enjoy a bit quieter of an area. Nice splash area for kids with a dunking water bucket. Would go again
