I've been craving a good Reuben sandwich for about 2 months now so who better to get a Reuben than the home of corned beef sandwiches, right? When you think of a Reuben it's grilled rye bread, oozing melted Swiss, sliced pickles, and for some Russian or Thousand Island dressings on a mountain of hot corned beef. For me it's all of that minus the dressing but with mustard instead. That's what I ordered today, but that's not what I got. The cashier made sure to upcharge me for extra pickle and pepper packs ‍. Crazy part is I reiterated to the cashier (man taking my order), the lady slicing the corned beef, and the gentleman preparing the sandwiches that I wanted 2 Reubens with no thousand island dressing, add mustard, extra pickles, and extra Swiss. After waiting for nearly 20 mins, I walked to the counter because I heard the cook asking for clarity. I asked him did he grill my sandwiches and add Swiss and mustard he said yes. I got in my car with my intuition telling me my food wasn't correct but at this point I'm starving and ready to go. Fast forward to the reveal and BOOM PLAIN CORNED BEEF SANDWICH WITH NOTHING BUT SWISS CHEESE AND SAUERKRAUT ON IT. No pickles, no mustard, no grilled rye bread. I gave them 3 stars because I was raised on AP Deli and I'll give them another shot. BUT BABY WHEN I TELL YOU I BROUGHT MY FAT SELF HOME AND THROUGH IT IN A SKILLET WITH SOME BUTTER, ADDED MUSTARD AND PICKLE SLICES TO IT, & FLIPPED IT A TIME OR 2.... IT WAS EXCEPTIONAL. This mainstay in Harvey has changed for the worse. At one time you could get a lot for your money now you don't even get enough for the $12 charged for a combo The customer service is less than stellar. Another customer asked the cashier to change her order since the combo was only a few cents more...He replied that he didn't feel like going back in the cash register to make that change...then he went back and forth for so long that she gave up. We have to get to a point where we must stop accepting bad service because it's convenient or black owned or whatever reasons we can think of to justify places not giving customers their best! I have been looking for a good Reuben near where I work and passed by this place. "Chicago's #1 corned beef! ". In big letters in the front of the store so I gave it a try. Big mistake! Cash only. I should have left right then but kept going. The lobby was dirty. No decor at all. Plexiglass separating the front and back was scratched and had notes taped all over. A dirty window unit was providing heat to the lobby. There's a giant sign saying how customers are important and don't forget it. The only menu was a torn paper sign that only listed corn beef or a Reuben. $15! For a sandwich! It must be really good! I order a Reuben and the cashier tells me they're out of sauerkraut. What?! You literally have 2 items to offer and you're missing a key ingredient. I get the sandwich minus sauerkraut and take it back to work. Open it up and it's only corned beef and thousand island dressing on the lightest rye I've ever seen. And it's cold. Still hoping for the best I take a bite. Bland, fatty, gristly meat! There was one particular employee who was female, I didn't get her name but today St. Patrick's day she wore green and had green flowers in her hair. She was the only one dressed this way. She had the nastiest attitude ever!!! There were people standing outside waiting for their orders, I proceeded to enter the restaurant and she is I guess policing the lobby and she is in the furthest spot away from the door I might add. She immediately jumped down my throat talking about 3 people inside at a time! But there were 7 people already inside. Their system is totally f@€ked up! Once I got to the register and placed my order she informed the 15 people waiting behind me that it was gonna be a 30min wait very nasty-like and basically told them "you ain't gotta go home but you gotta get the hell outta here!" I didn't understand this because I had just saw the man bring out a whole slab or whatever you call it and he cut my order from it. SHE then proceeds to make like 5 double meat looking sandwiches with no gloves on I might add (maybe they were personal orders) right after she touched doorknobs and didn't have on a freaking mask either! So all that drama about 3 people at a time goes out the window if you don't have a mask on and you're sticking your bare dirty doorknob hands on meat and on the rye bread. Long story short I drove outta my way because the internet was telling me 75th street was closed. Every other employee in the restaurant was nice as he!!! But unfortunately that heffa ruined the visit and I'm writing this long a$$ review. She may be the boss or something because she was too cocky but business savvy she is not! My daughter and I decided to stop in because we was driving by and wE have never been to this APDeli. As soon as you open the door you smell funk. I looked around and noticed the walls the doors and floors was filthy. The cashier had hEr boobs popping all out her shirt. I'm like damn where is the unit form. She asKed to take my order and I told her to hold on. I looked through tHe glass that separated her from me and noticed that where they was preparing the food was filthy as well. This restaurant is terrible. I stopped by yesterday for my elderly client who happened to be my parents. I noticed it was empty and one employees was on her cell phone. I ordered a corn beef sandwich. Another male employee took my order and made my order. Then the female employee jumps off her phone and rings up my order. I handed her my parents credit card. She asked for my ID then she says she can't take my card. I have the same last name as my parents/client. The bill was 10.00. So I asked her if the had a ATM?
