Dr. Gill did an amazing job fixing my severely chipped front teeth. I had chipped four teeth and instead of having to do veneers she bonded them all making them look better than my original teeth. I was worried the bonding wouldn't last but it has held up great. We have been going to Dentist Menrai for about 10 years and she does a great job with kids who have anxiety at the dentist. Dishonest Dentist? You Be the Judge ... Long Story Short: The evidence suggests that Dr. Menrai lied about the treatment I was to receive and lied about my having a cavity in the first place. In Aug of 2025, I went to Dr. Menrai's office for a teeth cleaning and x-rays. I had just moved to the South Bay and was in search of a new dentist. At the end of the cleaning, I was told that I had a small cavity. Dr. Menrai briefly pointed to an x-ray and I saw what appeared to be a small dark spot on one of the teeth. Before leaving, I scheduled an appointment to get a filling the very next day. I was told by the receptionist that I would be receiving a tooth-colored porcelain filling. I called the office later that day to have them e-mail me a copy of the treatment plan, and I confirmed with the receptionist that I would be receiving a porcelain filling. It was my impression from a brief online search that porcelain fillings are very strong, very wear resistant, polish well, and match tooth color very well. The treatment plan was never emailed to me. When I arrived to the appointment to have the filling done the next day, I was presented with some paperwork to sign. I briefly looked it over and noticed that the filling would be a composite one, not a porcelain one. I then asked for a copy of the treatment plan that had not been emailed to me. The treatment plan also indicated a composite filling. I asked the receptionist why there was a discrepancy, as I simply wanted to understand what work would be done, and if it mattered that it wasn't porcelain. I hadn't needed a filling in more than 20 years, and I just wanted to be on the safe side. Dr. Menrai, having overheard that there was some delay in moving forward, came out. In a bit of irritated fashion, she turned toward the receptionist and stated "Who said that he would be receiving a porcelain filling?" In my mind, this suggested to me that she must have known there was a difference between porcelain and composite fillings, and most likely the receptionist simply confused the two. She then turned toward me and assured me that she could use a "ceramic" filling, which was essentially the same thing. By that point, I had already quickly done an internet search on my phone for the difference between ceramic, composite, and porcelain fillings, and I noted that ceramic fillings are not the same, with porcelain fillings actually requiring a two-visit job, since they involve making a mold and using a laboratory to make a porcelain insert that is then put in place during the second visit. I was a bit perplexed as to why Dr. Menrai didn't just explain this to me rather than go on about how ceramic material is porcelain, how she was not aware of underlying chemical differences, how many of her employees in the office that day had silver and perhaps even gold fillings, and how today's filling technology had become so incredibly good in general. I began to feel a bit apprehensive, as though the main objective was just to get me in the operating room as soon as possible so that they could make their money and be done with it. I really did not want to be a difficult person, but I was legitimately confused and concerned; it just seemed like there were too many red flags. Reluctantly, I apologized and chose to cancel the appointment until I could get further information about the work they planned to do. I left the office feeling bad about the whole interaction, and confused. That same day, I called my mom's dentist. She assured me that any dentist clearly knows the difference between porcelain fillings and other types of fillings, and how they require a two-visit job. She also suggested that I obtain the x-rays taken by Dr. Menrai's office so that I could get a second opinion, which I did. I sent the x-rays to my mom's dentist. This dentist said that I did not have any cavities. I then posted the x-rays on several online forums in both the US and the UK. All of the dentists agreed that I had no cavities and urged me not to have any work done. Finally, I visited a family friend, who is a dentist, in person. He both inspected my mouth and viewed the x-rays. His conclusion: I have no cavities, and there is no work that needs to be done whatsoever. So, there you have it. It might be worth noting that I used a Groupon that cost about $60 to get my original teeth cleaning and x-rays done at Dr. Menrai's office. In my mind, the best case scenario is that Dr. Menrai is uninformed about certain aspects of dentistry and not particularly adept at locating cavities. In the worst case, and in my opinion most likely, scenario, Dr. Menrai is a dishonest dentist who uses Groupons to lure in new customers, tells them that they have cavities, and then turns a $60 teeth cleaning deal into a $300 or more bill based on a lie. read more

Unethical and questionable business practices for a quick buck. Similar experience as other low rated reviews below. A few years ago, we used a Groupon to visit Dr. Menrai for my elderly mother. They took x-rays and did a cleaning which was fine. The office experience was transactional and pushy - that of a schmucky car dealership, so a bit unsettling, so we were on guard. What followed is horrifying. Menrai recommended a ton of complicated and expensive dental work for my mother. She'd never had this type of extensive work suggested before, so we took my mom into our old family dentist, who is in the shopping center next-door. We had Dr. M's staff send over my mom's x-rays to the other dentist for comparison, to understand the basis of the recommendations. As it turns out, Dr Menrai was suggesting dental work on my mom's mouth using dental X-rays of another patient! The other dentist took new X-rays and proved that Menrai wasn't even referring to my mom's mouth. We were shocked and flabbergasted. I don't know how Dr. Menrai sleeps at night. We will never,ever go to this dentist ever again and have told our friends and family in Almaden to avoid her like the plague. read more

Dr. Menrai and Dr. K are absolutely superb dentists whom I would confidently recommend to anyone. My wife and loved Dr. K and were worried about making the switch, but D. Menrai made it a non-issue by being awesome. This office has now performed extensive dentistry on me due to a wide range of personal reasons (poor enamel, accidental damage, age). I found the staff to be consistently friendly, helpful, accommodating, and organized. The dentisry at this office is first class. The service pricing is totally competitive with other dentists I have had, and I have not had a single rebound issue in years now. I cannot speak for those that are dentistry bargain hunting, but if you want a dentist that does spectacular work, does not hurt you when providing shots or drilling, and always takes great pride in their work, I highly recommend this office to you. read more

I have mixed feelings about this dental practice for reasons I will explain below. I went to this practice on a Groupon for an exam, cleaning, and x-rays. I give them Five Stars for the friendly yet professional attitude of the staff and dentists, including the amazingly diligent cleaning I received. Sadly, however, as tends to be the case for dental practices that bring me in with a "loss leader" (e.g., cheap Groupon for the above package, or Deltacare-HMO when I had that in the past), "Dr. U" repeatedly insisted that I "need" nearly $2,000-worth of deep-cleaning -- all 4 quadrants! -- despite healthy gums all my life and up to the present day, and told me I needed another cleaning in 4 months. Today I consulted a (more experienced) dentist I'd seen before due to a chipped tooth; he complimented me on healthy gums, told me I should get a cleaning every 6 months, and said I definitely don't need any deep cleaning. Bottom Line: Get their Groupon for exam, cleaning and x-rays -- but if you have no gum symptoms yet they recommend "deep cleaning" or other expensive treatments, get another opinion. read more

This place is such a scam, they are just trying to get money out of people.They told me I had 6 cavities, which is crazy because I had only ever had one cavity in my life. So I didn't believe them and I went somewhere else, and thank god I did because the other dentist took better X-rays and told me I didn't have any cavities. I had been with my old dentist for 29 years in Almaden, so I was a little wary about this "new" practice taking over. I have been so pleasantly surprised by the genuine care I have received. Not only has Dr. Menrai completely updated the entire practice with a new look, but the equipment and staff are first class. I recently had a broken crown and they got me in on short notice and used state of the art equipment to make a temporary and new crown - not more putty tray molds, but simple scanning of the tooth. Searching for a Dentist is hard but what lead me here was the Yelp reviews so I thought I'd come back here to let others know my experience so far. I started coming here in Oct of last year and so far have had a cleaning, crown, and cavity fix. I'm am very pleased with the services provided. I also feel like her pricing is reasonable. I came here since they are In network and I have saved so much money since. All the staff I have encountered with have all been friendly and made me feel comfortable. They have a nice little TV to watch when getting work done which was nice. They also have really nice pens they give for free which is pointless but I love it. I also referred my dad here and hes hard to please. He was happy with his cleaning and will be back. I received movie tickets for referring him which is a nice little bonus. I'm and very happy and pleased with this dentist. I was very hisitant at first since im picky with shots but Dr. Menrai was GREAT!!! I will continue to come here and refer others since they have a nice bonus for doing so. read more

Did I have to give a rating at all? This place was a big mistake. Maybe it was because I purchased and used a Groupon, but I would've gladly paid the full cost for my services elsewhere. Working in a medical setting, I have a good idea of how one should run. I was hassled with future "fees" for future visits because they automatically assumed I was now an established patient and wanted to continue my care there. They would not release my records to my ortho after having given my verbal confirmation they would. It took 4 months from my initial visit for my other office and myself calling and emailing for them to finally share MY personal records that I rightfully paid for. They called and texted to confirm my appointment an annoying 6 times, and after the visit, would not stop calling to try to book future appointments. Dr. Menrai has made me feel so comfortable. I have been too fearful to get a crown that I needed due to fear of needles, numbing, and dental work. She did not pressure me into the procedure but helped to inform me of the consequences in a rational way. I finally did the procedure and I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Menrai and her staff. They made me feel very comfortable and joked around with me and comforted me the entire time. This kind woman broke me of my fear of dentist as well. I loved this place until recently, I probably won't be going back. They have a massage chair you sit in and tv mounted on the light to watch. She is great with shots and will work with you, financially. I got a new insurance plan and the associate from the insurance company said to be sure to ask the dentist "if they are covered in the network". Offices may ACCEPT my insurance, but I have to pay more for a dentist outside of the network. So when I called and asked the receptionist if I was in the network, she sweetly replied with, "oh, don't worry". When I got there I was asking a bunch of questions, the receptionist there said something along the lines of "I'm sure Dr. Menrai will work out a discount so we can keep you with us" Sadly, no. I paid hundreds of dollars extra because of the miscommunications or misleading, whichever the case was. I finally just paid because it was a long, complicated story and no one was really trying to hear it (at any point). I'd also like to add the last time I went, she crowned my tooth (at the end of the day) and asked if it was even when I closed my mouth, I said no. She shaved it down, asked again, I said no. This repeated 2 more times until she said" well, you're very numb right now so it will be hard for you to be able to tell." It felt high the next couple days until the tooth above it shattered to pieces (that one had a crack already, I'm guessing he pressure of the high crown finally finished it.) I wish I brushed more growing up!!!! read more

Dr. Menrai has been my family dentist for the past 8 years, and I highly recommend her. During these 8 years, my wife, son, and I have visited her every 6 months and have always had a very pleasant experience. Once, I broke my tooth in half right down the middle of the tooth after biting on something very hard in my food (probably a small piece of stone in stoneground bread). She did an amazing job of salvaging half the tooth and did such a fine job in bonding the replacement part to the salvaged part that one year later, I feel no difference between the broken tooth and the ones next to it. Equally important, she is very polite, courteous, spends enough time with you, and DOES NOT do any suggestive selling when you consult her. Even her support staff is very polite and courteous. Once again, I'd recommened her without any reservations whatsoever. read more

WOW! Is all I can say about Dr. Menrai! I have a HUGE fear of Dentist gassed is how I had to be with any dentist. Dr. Menrai did a root canal on my front tooth and It Didn't hurt me AT ALL! The shots I didn't feel at All. You know how you go in they swap the area then insert the needle, you then feel that needle turning till it becomes numb. I don't know how she does it but NO STING, NO SHOT TURN AND WAIT. she shot my front gum line and the roof of my mouth. I always leave a dentist numb for almost half the day. Again she was concerned about what meds I was on and gave me the CORRECT numbing for my blood pressure meds and the numbness was out and gone before I knew it. I had no pain during OR after. I sent my husband there today and he came home saying, "I don't know how she does it, but I feel Great!" Let's keep her! Her staff is all smiles and happy to see you and help in anyway they can. I feel so lucky to have gone there I had to write this review. If you hate the dental experience and don't go because of it. GO TO DR MENRAI.
