I had a very unpleasant experience dealing with Apartment Divas. While they were initially friendly and agreed to meet me at the time and places of my choosing, things turned sour when I decided to rent a place:
1. It was unnecessarily confusing getting in touch with the relevant party, who the agent apparently had little access to. She finally asked me for a blank check so she could take care of things.
2. When the apartment's leasing agent was finally reached, I was led to believe he was the building owner, and instructed that it would be perfectly safe to wire him a LOT of money.
3. After this deal ended up being quite shady, with the place actually owned by another person I was not going to meet, I backed out. I received a text message shortly after from one of the divas: "WHAT HAPPENED!?!?" I said that it was flaky and I didn't want to rent the place. I then received two emails accusing me of "cutting her out" and chastizing me for deciding not to rent the place, and that she was "shocked." No offers to continue to help me on my search, just a bad attitude about losing her commission.
4. Very inconsistent responding to calls, texts, and emails, and usually unprofessional when doing it. On two occasions she was sarcastic. Also needlessly high pressure, telling me I needed to move on every place we saw because of how in-demand it was. Generally insulting to my intelligence and eventually rude.
I really recommend thinking twice before you enlist these people to help. You can find most of their properties online and have someone else show them to you. I have a high standard for professionalism, and so should you, and Apartment Divas didn't even come close to meeting it. It's a big field and I recommend going with people who are going to treat you well and not bombard you with rude, sarcastic, and spiteful correspondence. read more
