0 STAR REVEIW (My child started here at 7 months, and I switched daycares at 15 months.. and I 100% should've done it sooner). Firstly, My daughter has been sick from this daycare since the start of going here. Multiple times a month she would bring something home, which isn't normal at all. I took her to the ER 6 times and she had been sick or gotten a terrible rash 15 times since she started. (A span of 8 months) my daughter had a yeast infection and it was almost fully healed when I dropped her off at daycare. When I picked her up her skin was peeling off and she had blisters. I had to start the process of healing all over again because of their negligence. I asked them to change her every hour and they didn't listen to me. When I asked about it they said they just "didn't log the times they changed her in between". I got calls up to 3 times a week every week because something was wrong, or I needed to come get her, or they would diagnose her with some illness that they're not authorized to even do. I went to the dr. Multiple times because of them not letting her come to daycare due to them self diagnosing her and not letting her come to daycare. On another note, I have picked my daughter up and many times where someone would tell me how they fed her their own personal food for lunch and how much she loved it. THINGS I DID NOT BRING OR AUTHORIZE ...SHARING THEIR FOOD OFF THEIR FORKS TO MY CHILD!!! I also picked her up one time and her teacher asked me if she was allergic to anything.. I said no, why? She continued to explain to me that she had just given my 13 month old a bite of her sonic strawberry milkshake, and didn't think about her being allergic to it until after she gave her a bite. The woman who runs the daycare (Samantha) would tell me how she shared her Chick-fil-A salad with her for lunch... another worker told me how much Scarlett loves pineapple, Olive Garden salad dressing, AND DONUTS. That right there in itself breaks so many codes that this place should honestly be shut down. They also sent her home very dirty every day. They NEVER wiped her face, even when she was sick so many times, I would pick her up with dried snot all over her face. When I had picked her up when they were playing outside she always had dirt all in her fingernails, all over her face.. she had been eating the dirt and sticking wood chips in her mouth. I asked about this and told them to please not let her eat the dirt and wood chips and her teacher replied by saying that "they give them snack outside and sometimes she drops it and picks up dirt and eats that instead." ... I wish I was making this up.. why are they giving toddlers snack outside? They could so easily choke on things so I'm not sure why they're standing up, outside eating their snacks while running around and playing. This daycare is also supposed to take photos everyday of your child, they won't. And when they do submit a photo of them 9 times out of 10 there's a teacher in the background, ignoring the toddlers, on their cellphones. I can't count how many times I picked my daughter up to see both teachers on their cell phones. She would come home everyday exhausted, and very unhappy, I thought it was just because she was tired.. nope. When she started at her new daycare I noticed she's the happiest I've ever seen her, and that lasts until bedtime.. at the other daycare I would pick her up and she was immediately in a terrible mood for the rest of the night. Unfortunately this makes me realize she wasn't treated right..I can't even imagine how she was being treated and I feel awful for sending her here. I've heard them yell at my baby for trying to get something off the counter, and I'm talking yelllll. I should've known to leave then and there but I just didn't and I deeply regret it. She would come home with scratches and bruises and bite marks EVERYDAY!! and apparently every time no one had known what had happened to her. Every time I tried to call or get in contact with the daycare they either didn't answer the phone or when they did it was clear they didn't want to be bothered. And I got the same treatment when and If I had a special request for her... i would be told they would do it for her and then find out they didn't do it at all. I'm really sorry for the long message but parents need to know this before deciding to send their kids to this daycare. It's filthy and the people who work there are negligent and breaks so many codes.. it might be the cheapest option but it's far from the best. We're at a daycare now that is so clean, feeds her three meals a day including snack, and I have access to all the cameras so I can view her at any time of the day now, and they are going to teach her sign language and Spanish. All for $60 more than apex. Please if you care about your babies, look into other options before sending them here. read more

My first child started here at 5 months old and is now 4 and my second started here at 12 weeks and is now almost 2 and we would never go anywhere else. There was a change in ownership a couple of years ago and a shift in staff but now the teachers that are there have been there since the shift and others that stayed through the change have been there for years. I now know every single teacher and the director and assistant director very well and each are fantastic! Every staff member loves every child as their own and makes each child feel special and unique. I can't imagine any other place doing better than Apex. I recommended this place to a friend and now her kids come here too and they love it here as well. read more

Owned by a true Jack Welch style bean counter, you can rest assured the contract has the small print there to take your money even when they don't deliver actual services. Of course you'll pay full price for most weeks that aren't even open all week. This is par for the course with suburban child care. "They're holding the spot". Just because it is the same everywhere else doesn't make it ethical. They're just copying the same techniques other crooks get away with. They have captured customers and they know it. Apex is, without a doubt, the best child care facility I've ever come in contact with as a parent. They have children ranging in age from six weeks up to nearly the teenage years, split into classrooms based upon age, development, and similar factors. Our most direct experience with them has been with our son who has been at Apex since he was six weeks old. As of this posting, he's 19 months old and loves going to "school" every day. He loves all of his teachers and knows them by name. Conversely, everyone there knows him and they always greet him by name in the morning when we walk in the door. The staff is always friendly and cheerful whether it's 6:30 in the morning before the sun is up or 6:30 at night after dealing with kids all day. In the classroom, our son is exposed to a ton of activities so he's always learning and growing. When we knew we were having a baby, we decided that infant sign language was important and wanted to make sure he knew it. All of the staff at Apex knows a bit of sign language, which made it extremely easy to teach our son more and expand his vocabulary. In addition, he has music, Spanish, or other classes every week as well as art projects and other learning activities. This isn't just a place for him to play all day; he's actually learning an incredible amount. Apex also offers a number of activities outside normal hours. Every month or two, they have a parents night out where they stay open until 11:00 PM on a Friday night. You can have your kids stay there for a modest extra fee and have a night all to yourself or catch that movie you just haven't been able to see yet. And since our son already goes there every day, we don't have to worry about him adapting to a different babysitter or a new environment. They even provide dinner! Several times throughout the year, they also have a weekend activity such as a fair where the kids can come and just have fun. These weekend activities are usually free and have everything from face painting to bounce houses to attractions like a magician or a monkey show. This review may seem long, but it's nowhere near long enough to explain all of the great things about Apex. Like most people, I rarely take the time to post positive reviews about places, but Apex is my main exception to that. I have never skipped an opportunity to talk about how wonderful they are or how much our son enjoys going there. If you need regular childcare, you cannot go wrong with Apex! read more

My review below is based on the pricing of this school, NOT the merit of the school. We enrolled our son here at the beginning of the year. He only went for 2 days, unfortunately, and we chose to withdraw him. Taking him out had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the school, it was completely to do with our realization that we as a family were not ready for it. Our son will be 2 this fall so I have decided to research various preschools, again, to enroll him in, with keeping Apex Academy as an option still. I have now looked at 3 other Christian schools in this area that I did not look at before. And I wish I had, because the money I spent for my son to go to just 2 days at Apex Academy ($660!!) could have sent him to school for 3.5 months at any of the 3 other local Christian schools I just looked into. Apex Academy is simply WAY overpriced. From what I've just recently seen elsewhere, Apex Academy does not even come close to the quality in environment and teachers that is provided at other local Christian schools. I'm finding an average price of $220 a month for my child to go to school 2 days a week. That's an entire month! Where quality teachers and atmosphere is provided and a true Christian learning experience. I feel very taken advantage of for having paid $660 to Apex for my child to have gone for just 2 days. This would not have happened at any of the other schools. I'm not listing the names of these other schools in this review but would be happy to provide them to anyone who might be interested. There are great christian schools in this area that do not advertise, they are hidden gems with very FAIR pricing and excellent teachers. Be sure you ask around. read more

All three of my kids go to apex and all started at 2 years old. After all these years I still give them 5 stars. Ms. Kelly and Ms. Jasmine are wonderful. My review comes as employee based. I was the Assistant Director for Apex Academy for a bit over 2 years. This was my 4th childcare center to work for and my favorite. Apex kept the Christian values that most centers have long done away. I had left the industry back in Spring of 2008 to pursue other endeavors of watching children away from the center based atmosphere. When I joined Apex in 2014, I felt like I hadn't been away from the field in 6 years. I was accepted right in and felt welcomed. Apex teaches the A Beka curriculum which is bar far one of the best childcare center curriculums out there. It focuses not only on being Bible based (no specific denomination) but also based on phonics and breaking that down at a young age. Apex begins this curriculum in the 12-18 month classroom and each class is a level ahead so that age actually does the 18-24 month curriculum. It is very light, at that age, and focuses more on color recognition and motor skills. While some might not like the aspect of teaching a level ahead (usually arguments of other childcare centers that are slacking imo) it really breaks down to the fact that children are sponges and they are going to absorb whateverr you are going to teach them. By the time your child reaches Pre-K here they are actually doing the A Beka Kindergarten program (K5) which is used in many Private schools as their Kindergarten program as well as some childcare centers as their "Private K" it is phenomenal. I witnesses about 20 kids in the 2015/2016 school year reading at 4 and 5 years old before going into Kindergarten. I was a fan of A Beka though before joining the Apex team as it was the curriculum taught at the center I had previously worked for which has now taken away the "Christian" teachings and moved away from their original foundation for their school to be more accepting to everyone. The A Beka curriculum was a big factor for me choosing to accept a position at the center. Apex also offers Sign Language from infants through older toddlers, Spanish classes from Toddlers up through Pre-K, Computer classes in Preschool and Pre-K and Bible Classes for the 2 year olds and up. They also have Mr. Vic (music) every other week which the children love! That is all included in your normal weekly tuition. Another factor was working for a privately owned center. The center I had worked previously for was a franchise but the owners family owned corporate so they were always popping in to change something or helicopter all staff . I did not like the corporate feel and felt it was about maximizing classrooms and not letting the teachers have creativity in their classroom, though I did have a great fantastic relationship with the owner. The kids and teachers should feel welcome and express themselves in their classroom verses feeling of being held in a box. Apex was great about teachers being able to post what they wanted on their walls, which are filled with childrens artwork, and to be as creative as they like. Self expression should be showed not hidden. With all childcare centers there are the ups and downs of the industry. It is a very high stressful job, think about you being stressed about your 1 or 2 children, now imagine a class full of 15 or 20, but it is a blessing to be able to serve in that position and mold each child. Teachers are a blessing no matter what age you teach and they do not get enough credit for the hours they put in. Then there are the lifers that will sometimes work open to close when they need to because someone is out sick. They are the blessings in childcare. No childcare is perfect when it comes to hiring teachers, retaining teachers and training teachers. Apex has a good group of ladies and gentlemen that are they to support, supervise and mold the paths of the children that are part of their family. The Apex management has the best interest of the center and spends sometimes what feels like a million hours at the center for the better good of the children, families and staff. They bend over backwards each day for each family to make sure their child(ren) are loved, cared for, watched over and safe with the facility and staff. As sad as I was to leave this past December (I went into the corporate medical recruiting field), Apex will hold a dear spot in my heart, I have grown to have close relationships with the management team that is now in place and I still make an effort to pop in every few weeks and say hi to my kiddos (yes they are still my kiddos :) ...) read more

The best childcare facility out there. When it comes to hiring teachers that love babies, this is by far the best place to trust your little one. All of the teachers in the infant room are incredible. My 10 month-old was terrified of other people and it was hard when I first put her in day care. Ms. Mae was so loving to her that she really gets excited to see her every day. I have visited many day cares to find the right one and found that the people at Apex just make you feel good about leaving your baby there. read more

Great location right near Shady Grove Elementary. Went on a tour, and loved almost every inch of this place. We met the wonderful Director, the owner, and some very friendly staff members. The place was warm and inviting, and I'd surely send my two prized possessions there for learning and care. It's a faith based school, utilizing the "A Beka" curriculum. They bus to and from many local area schools, even a few that I expected would be a bit too far. A really nice option for working parents! Their decor is more futuristic than most preschools we visited. All super fun and well thought out. The classrooms are very well equipped with high ceilings, ample natural light from the large windows, and separate boys/girls restrooms (not something you see most places!). They had animals in the lobby (rabbit and guinea pigs), and a few small animals in some of the classrooms. The playgrounds were great, and got the seal of approval from our playground snob daughter. TONS of grass and space for the kids to run. Far better than the other locations we visited for outdoor play space. They have a cool little stadium bench seating theater room for Spanish class and movies. They also have an old style arcade. A well equipped kitchen sits near the arcade, however not sure why. Part of North Richland Hills rules, do not allow them to serve hot food to children. They are not allowed to even heat up your child's food. The Director mentioned they have microwaves, so the kids in the after school/summer program are able to heat up their own food, although I'm not comfortable with my 4 year old operating a microwave or even standing in front of one. They do have a fenced, in ground swimming pool (very nice and well maintained), something I wasn't comfortable with for my kids. Our rule, is no swimming unless we are around. However, I don't want my babies to be the only two sitting on the sidelines, or in an empty classroom while the other children take a dip. This wound up being a deal breaker for us. They have preschool, pre-K, kindergarten, and after school programs. I do believe they even have a drop-in rate, which we'll definitely take advantage of. Their pricing is lower than you'll see at other area preschools, however their pricing reflects the difference. Although they have lower pricing than other area schools, it really comes out to be about the same if you are bringing your child's lunch. As busy working parents, packing a lunch is not something I'm ready to add to the list just yet. Most schools we visited allowed us to see classrooms in session, meet the teachers, and play on the playground. Here, we saw mostly empty classrooms (really because of time of day, post-nap time), and we didn't get to meet my daughter's teacher due to an after school pickup she was making. Additionally, while my daughter's classroom was on the playground, they did not offer to let her play with them for a few minutes. All in all, not being able to see if it were a good fit for her, I wasn't comfortable. Yes, we could have come back for a quick visit to fulfill that need, however we ruled it out because of the pool. This is our second choice, so if our first choice doesn't work out, we'll be back to meet the class and teacher :). All in all, this place is a diamond in the rough. Privately owned, and unique on so many levels. We'll be back, if not for full time, we'll definitely utilize the drop-in option. read more

Let me just say I LOVE this school. We were at another small, non-chain daycare and decided to move to Apex for a few reasons. We are so glad we did! The staff is super! Great directors and great teachers. My son is 4 years old and is constantly talking about his teacher. The facility is clean, has a lot of activities for the kiddos, and is FUN while educational. My 4yr old is learning to read, do basic math, count by 5s and 10s, knows some Spanish and some sign language. (as far as cost, compare apples to apples. The review about other Christian schools is probably not completely apples to apples. Most likely they are looking at Mother's day out programs that are from 9-2 vs. a full day/full-curriculum school) read more

Apex Academy is OK but not distinctive. While we were at Apex, they were always right at the legal minimum caregiver limit permissible in the state of Texas (i.e. 4 infants to 1 adult or 10 infants to 2 adults, etc). They worked a lot of angles to keep it that way... for example, if there would happen to be 6 infants in the room one day, they would find a way to push the oldest 2 into the toddler room keeping the ratio at 4 infants for 1 caregiver (rather than having 2 people care for 6 infants, which is preferable from the parent's point of view). Given that the caregiver ratio is so important to the quality of care a child receives, basically we couldn't legally get any worse in Texas. ;-) I do understand the cost pressures that centers experience, but we would have preferred to pay a little more for a more distinctive experience. When we joined, they had literature talking about all the great things they did in the infant room. None of it was true. There was no attempt to do any kind of enrichment. It would have been so easy to at least play music or... something... but unfortunately that did not happen when our child was in the infant room. Hopefully that is changing. That said, your child will be safe at Apex. It's fine, just not distinctive. Their childcare staff are very nice, although they have extremely high turnover (or at least they did when we were there). The management is nice, but in some aspects and situations can be unprofessional. Some of their processes such as hiring and billing are not well controlled -e.g., expect some billing issues; and if they hire you, make sure whoever is responsible for your personnel file finishes it! They suspended one unfortunate person without pay (after she had already become well entrenched working there) because someone had not finished her file (finger prints etc). She was out for quite a while with no income (the fingerprinting is apparently a state process that takes a while.) I was saddened that they would treat an employee that way. On the topic of employee treatment and turnover, they also had some other random oddities such as using the bathroom walls as a communications vehicle for employees. (Seriously.) Hopefully this has changed by now! There was one case where they overbilled me and I finally just decided to give them that money as a gift, because the center director was hard to work with in rectifying it. As I was inquiring about the situation, she seemed oddly reluctant to investigate my claim of overcharges. I pointed out that we had been charged for the most expensive room longer than our child had been in it, and first the director tried to just say that wasn't true. Then in the same conversation she said 'well in your case we felt your child needed a 4-week transition to make sure she could handle the older room, so we kept charging the higher rate during that entire transition period.' Saying both of those conflicting things in the same conversation made it feel like the center director was trying to say anything at all to make me go away... it felt like she was being dishonest... particularly since once our child transitioned, there were no instances of her needing to go back to the younger room. I could not figure out if the center director was simply trying to avoid any additional work of investigating, or if Apex Academy was in some sort of dire financial situation such that they couldn't afford to fix their mistakes. Anyway, I have given that money to them as a gift at this point (although they still think they earned it). read more

This school or after school care or Summer camp is beyond all others. My son has been here what I think like 5 years. Summers 2 field trips a week; their own playground, movie theater and games galore. I am divorced so there is contention; and Ex wants to move him to the next latest and greatest built; which seems to be popping up every six months. Let me tell you; with 2 field trips a week; to include bowling, Perot Museum, Ripley's Believe it or not just to mention a few, they are off the charts. But what really makes this place exceptional; is all is great when kids play the cattle game and run through the ropes the way the business is designed. Get an instance outside or and issue outside the ropes; you kid has no lunch; or is expelled. These people and the people they hire understand kids; and when discipline needs to be applied they do so; and do so in conjunction and with my blessing, but I don't have to go looking for a replacement sheep herding school. This place is the best place for your child; and I would say don't measure a place by it's bling and when all is going as expected and the daily plan is in flow. Evaluate a place on it's staff and ability to handle children who are still learning the attributes of being a productive, humble and kind human being. Not just based on flashy new indoor basketball courts; or bowling ally's etc.... They learn structure and get everything they need and a huge variety with the number of field trips they take. My children went here for about 4 months and my youngest was having a hard time adjusting. One of his teachers was great in coming up with ways to work with him and us to get him on the right track. Unfortunately, the childcare stopped there. The director and a few others are completely unprofessional. We were called in one day to pick up my youngest due to behavioral problems and then blindsided with a 3 day notice of not being able to have our children there anymore. They want to consider themselves a "Christian" based center but when it comes down to it they don't practice what they preach. I left the center in tears and they had the nerve to tell me that they still wanted my older son to attend there even though I only had 3 days to find a good fit for my youngest son. Needless to say, we pulled both boys out and are praying that God will find us the right fit for our youngest son and we are also praying that no other family will receive the treatment that we did. I trusted this facility and the employees with my children and that was a mistake. read more
