Our kids love to come here. I especially love the evening hours for the pool. We like to go swimming and then stop by the indoor playground afterward. It's so nice to have a fun indoor pool to play in and not have to worry about sunscreen or it being too cold. read more

We took our 3-year-old there while we were in the area visiting. He had a blast, only problem was we had to literally drag him out of the place. He's now taking an awesome nap! Like everyone else has mentioned, this place has cool stuff for kids. What hasn't really been mentioned is trying to use this place as a gym. Depending on your free time schedule, early mornings (and I do mean early, people are waiting in the lot for them to open at 6:00am!) and late afternoons from about 4:00pm until about 7:00pm are a zoo. You can get your workout in at those times because the majority of the people are polite and know gym etiquette but it does get crowded (can you say "gym rats"). Because I have a lot of free time right now I've been trying to figure out when the best time to get in there to get a workout in without having to feel rushed or the need to pose in front of the mirrors or push ridiculous amounts of weight. Well if you get there at around 10:00am it's a lot quieter and the only people there are the graying panthers (you know the type, they look elderly and innocent and then proceed to lap your ass on the jogging track. Hah, you might be able to out run me old woman but I can push 2.5 more pounds than you on the bench press!). They do have kids summer programs during the day too but that usually affects the B-ball courts, pools, and ice arenas and doesn't impact the gym nearly as much. So, this is a medium size gym with both free weights and the universal type equipment that is kept in good shape (I've yet to see a piece of equipment that is out of service out of my 5 or 6 visits). Apex is the best of the "WestBroomVada" (thanks Col. Hector) recreation centers--at least in terms of the waterslides and free jungle gym. Although the slides at Derda's in Broomfield are pretty good, here, they actually let you use the tube slide with your kid. I am proud that my son doesn't have a meltdown when we splash out of the slide and flip upside down. I flail around until I find him submerged under me and then drag him up out of the water. I assume that tears and terror will be the consequence; but no, instead, he joyfully says: "Let's do that again!" read more

I've only ever been to the free tree house area. My 3 year old really enjoyed running around and going up and down the tubes/slide. The only thing I'd change is add more seating area for adults. I can't wait to try out their awesome looking swimming area. read more

I can't say much for the rest of this rec center but the Ice Arena is my favorite in the area. This place is rarely crowded and they take good care of their ice. They have two full rinks which allows them to have more public skating time than most places. The skate sharpening is too expensive, but overall this is a very nice place. read more

We just moved here from California and were looking for a gym that could accommodate our family of four (2 adults, a 3-year old and a 13-month old). We first looked at the "Y" and we liked it but wanted to see what else was available. As soon as we walked in, we loved the pool area and knew we wanted to sign up. The pool area has a zero-gravity pool and playground with small slides for younger kids. There is a smaller pool that is deeper, a vortex/current pool, and two bigger slides (one for riding with an inner tube and one for without). There is also two hot tubs, one 'warmer' so younger kids can enjoy it and a hotter jacuzzi that is 'adults only'. There is also a lap pool. There is a rock climbing wall, an indoor track (that switches directions every other day so it's easier on the knees), and a hockey rink. What we loved about it is it has a play area for the kids, which they are free since they are part of our family plan, and The Canadian and I can workout or I can get a massage and be kid (stress) free. The weights area isn't that huge but it has all your basic machines and free weights. We love the variety this place has to offer.. but mostly, did I mention the daycare was free with our family plan? read more

The water in the kid play area was a lot colder than I expected for an indoor water park! This is a cheap option for families that want to show their kids a good time but if your child is older than 4 I don't see them having the best time here for more than an hour! They feature one water slide for older kids and adults that dumps into the standard swimming pool area but that alone is not enough to excite me about this place! Spend your time and money elsewhere at a better water park! read more

My husband and I recently started to use the pickleball courts located at the Apex annex at the Simms Street Center and have been very pleased. The courts are perfectly maintained and have amazing nighttime lighting. The surrounding crevice gardens are beautiful. It is a great addition to APEX, Jefferson County and Arvada. read more

Been a member for 3 years. It has pretty much everything I could want in a recreational facility. Ice skating, swimming, basketball courts, weights, cardio machines, classes for aerobics, yoga and spinning, a nice staffed children's play area, indoor climbing wall and a running track. Facilities and equipment are in great shape, the staff is friendly and knowledgable. There might be things other places in the area do better, but as for offering such a comprehensive package of facilities and programs, this place cannot be beat. read more

We have come to the indoor play area a few times and like that it's free. It is a little complex and often you can't locate your child if they get hurt. But certainly you can climb up and get them if need be. It's to be expected though that often kids push each other even on an outdoor playground so be prepared to go in if your kid is shy or not yet ready to be on their own. The pool is amazing and I love that you can bring food in. Often so many Rec centers don't allow this. Neat that they have an open pool area and slides and then a kids splash area. So many areas to appease everyone. Like so many places locker room freezing. That still doesn't make sense to me. Very clean and lots of lockers. My husband likes the racquetball courts. We've never used the workout facilities. read more

We signed our 6 y/o up for some swim lessons at George Myers Pool. We usually go to the pool at Apex and find out that the water at Myers pool is colder. Our son did not enjoy the pool and doesn't want to go get in the cold to him water again. I wrote Apex and they gave us a full credit to use toward a future class. They certainly did not have to do this and I didn't have to bother/beg them for it, I asked once and was given the full credit immediately. We go to apex a lot for swimming, skating, lessons, and the indoor playground. This is just a reminder of why it is such a good place to go and do business with. read more

Full disclosure, this review is based purely on the group classes and general facility, I've yet to use the pool (zomg crowded all the time!) or the gym areas. That being said... I love the classes here! I've taken a number of Zumba classes (Brandy, Ashley, Courtney & Krista are all super awesome), Yoga and Ball and Balance. All are great and give you a great workout for that class. Also love that the daily-entry fee is good all day so I can come to multiple classes if time allows. The facility is always super clean, the staff are incredibly helpful and nice and it's a bargain compared to other facilities in the area. Only complaints are that it can take FOREVER to check in downstairs if you are paying the drop-in fee, if there is a line prepare to wait; and their on-line class schedule isn't the most dynamic - it doesn't list instructors, subs or last minute changes. read more

I have been here many many times, but the only part that I have ever used is the hockey facility. I am a big fan, the ice is good, and the leagues are fair, as clean as I have found, and well monitored. The league manager watches most of the games, to ensure clean play and competitive balance. The locker rooms, however are ridiculously tiny for a hockey team. This was terribly planned from the beginning, and is an annoyance every game, but aside from this and the location being farther from my house than I want it to be, it is a great facility, and a well run program, also reasonably priced. read more

I am really impressed by the Apex Center. It's clean and the staff are very friendly and the managers all like getting to know the people who use the rec center. They are very kind to those with special needs and those with a service dog. Hands down this place is a great place to work out and also to go meet new friends. Everyone is very friendly here, at the different classes that are provided with membership and they even have a grant program for those who can't afford a complete membership, where one may only have to pay half of the membership fees if you get approved for the grant. They are very accomdating and they strive to make sure you are healthy and happy. read more

Forget lap swimming on Saturday. First there are lessons from 9-11 am, then the hordes of parents and kids occupy the splash pool and the youth lanes bringing their smelly food. You have to use your elbows to use lockers and showers. Then the pool closes at 6 pm for whatever reason. read more

Nice place but the life gaurds are snobby little Beeootchis that act as though they are on a hollywood walk way strutting thier stuff.

I am really dissapointed, we brought our three kids in, ages 13-7, to ride the slide and do the activity area for the pool, drove all the way from Longmont. Once we arrived, we were informed all slides and the activities around them, were closed. There was no explanation, no estimate on how long they would be down, and no information about the closure online. We checked and called several times before we drove down and they never told us about any closures. We will not be returning. read more

I have been to the Apex Center many times since its inception. While the facilities are nice, judging from my experience with the staff or observations of others interactions with the staff, I have come to the conclusion that it is a poorly managed facility. More often than not, when I have to deal with the staff, the particular individual I am dealing with appears to be more concerned with yelling and exercising complete authority over the patrons. This behavior extends to following very restrictive and ridged policies and procedures, rather than exercising common sense and good customer service. This behavior by the staff extends from the swimming area, to the workout areas, to the many other activities that are available at the Apex Center. read more

Oh. Em. Gee. I'm reviewing the indoor water park, specifically. Insanely cool. The little kids' area is great, and safe, and has enough stuff going on within it that even your slightly older little kids don't feel like they've been relegated to the baby pool. The larger pool has a whirlpool area, two insane waterslides, and then there's yet another pool dedicated solely to swimming laps. For what it's worth, we visited this place on a Sunday afternoon, in July, right before the holiday. And, while crowded, it wasn't suffocating, and I get uncomfortable in big crowds. There were also lifeguards everywhere, which was really reassuring for me, seeing as my kid has somehow evolved into a child with my husband's attraction to danger and my utter lack of coordination - not the best combination. It was cheap, it filled up our afternoon, it totally wiped out the kids we brought with us, and everyone had a good time. That one experience was enough for me to want to buy an annual pass. read more

It seems clean, big, spacious. Overall people who work Here seem Nice except the woman in charge at the exercise area seemed mean in my several interactions with her. But could have been a bad day for her. The reason I give three stars is because it seems to have strict rules that with common sense could give them some flexibility. For instance, I was hoping to play basketball for ten minutes, didn't have ID but couldn't check out ball even though the facility is basically empty the ball wasn't going to get "lost" in the "action". Also the pool area... The pacing of the life guards is quite uncomfortable especially with adult hot tub. Every 25 seconds the life guard walks by and pierces head to look at each corner. It's just me 25seconds ago, still just me this 25 seconds and probably in the next 25 seconds. I wish they would take into consideration the enjoyment factor with their safety precautions. No other pool I've been to have ever been so intense. luckily it's cheap and I just accept when I come here it's not a place to relax, but I thought it was time to voice my concerns. read more

This is a Great Place to take the Family, very friendly staff and life guards are very nice, greet you in the morning and are excellent in there Jobs. My Daughter and I visit the center two times week using the pool and exercise room. On the 24th of December 2013 I was in the pool around 830am there was a man and his son playing in the pool when i overheard the young mans father ask the supervisor Tyler when they were going to turn on water jets for the slides and buckets, Tyler replied normally the do not turn them on until 900am but since the Dad and his son had to leave before 900am he would turn it on now, needless to say it made that young man a very happy kid. It also gave myself and my Daughter a very happy feeling knowing Tyler cared enough to make that little kids day. Thanks to Tyler and Apex for having caring and nice Employees. read more

We enjoyed the pool even my 14 year old had fun... However 12 and under would probably enjoy it the most. But the whole facility looks amazing with its workout area, rock wall, kids area and more. Anyway we spent. 4 hours in the pool area fun fun fun, and very clean too. read more

We have always loved the pools at Apex Center, however, anymore it has gotten very unpleasant for us. There always seems to be people throwing things back and forth in the water which we understand. However, today there were approx. 15-20 very large young men throwing a regulation size and weight football. There was no place to go to avoid them. There were many small children in the pool and our 5 yr old almost got hit in the back of the head. If his dad hadn't smacked the ball away who knows what would have happened. VERY UPSET that the life guards just stood there watching all of this, yet correcting others for rowdy play. Even after I complained to one of them and was told "I'll talk to them" he never did and the throwing continued. We will be looking for a new place to swim. read more

Great hockey rink! Fantastic Ice! Compared to the Promenade this ice is outstanding. Cold and hard. Best of all they have an electric zamboni! I have minor asthma and notice a little bit of trouble breathing when I play at rinks with propane/natural gas zamboni's. Not at apex; no chest tightness, no propane smell, just clean, cold air. Support this rink and other's like it that are making the commitment to our childrens' health by investing in electric zamboni's. read more

We most often use the pool facilities and the children's play area. -I find the cleanliness of the pool area, as well as, the presence of the lifeguards to be excellent. -As far as the kids indoor play area, its one of the best that I can find in the metro area and bonus ----- free to both residents and NR! The only drawbacks can be: a) that the employees assigned to the kids play area, insert themselves into the management of children playing there (whether assigned to their care or instead, kids with parents present). Unfortunately, it seems their application of rules is inconsistent (from the gazillion times we've been there to play.). It sure would help if rules staff was enforcing were posted for kids and adults to see. b) Also, but not as significantly, I would love it, if they'd turn off or turn down their piped-in music (country, rock 'n roll, you name it) when the volume of kids increases.
