I never got a solid plan, they hard-sold me high, promising we would reduce it, just to make me sign the contract. (my first mistake) Of course, those meetings to discuss my priorities and reduce the budget, never came. My dream wasn't realized as they either vetoed, forgot or bumbled each feature of my design. Examples: I have a wavy wall, it took them days to correct the paint throughout the house, they flat refused to match my craftsman trim, they forgot my vented kitchen hood, vetoed my transom (they don't even know what that is), failed plumbing inspection three times and nearly blew up my house. (I'm not embellishing) Had to install the cabinets twice (ordered incorrectly and hung at the wrong height), the rough plumbing is so poorly done that the knobs don't sit right and turn lop-sided; failed to contain the renovation dust which covered even stuff inside cabinets and drawers throughout the house. The cleaning crew came multiple times and I still had to hire my own at a cost of $360, to get all the ceiling fans, fixtures, floors, etc. finally clear of dust and paint splatters. They scratched my hardwoods and damaged my stove. To top it off, they stopped paying the subs and one of them put a lien on my house, EVEN though, i was up to date on my payment arrangement. (Yes, that's totally legal, for some reason!) The drama continues as I need help correcting some issues that i don't feel I should have to live with. This store has a huge selection of everything at lots of different price points --- but almost every option was much cheaper than the comparable option at Homes/Depot. Like, a full dollar per square foot less in most cases. The laminate I originally picked out and had delivered turned out to have some serious flaws in each box, which my contractor discovered after he started to try installing them. It looked fine to me, but apparently there was a defect that would've affected how they could be installed. Anyway, I drove back to F&D worried about how they'd handle this (since almost all the boxes were open already), but they promptly processed my return and helped me pick out a new laminate. (Thankfully no problems with the new type.)
