I called some local garage door companies to get professional help. The first company I called had a recorded message saying that they only worked Monday through Friday. The second company I called had no availability until the following week. The third company I called answered professionally and told me that they work seven days a week and that they'd have the owner come out today between 12 noon and 3:00 pm. He arrived at 12:30 pm, got right to work, and had the problem fixed by 1:00 pm. He didn't try to upsell me, only charged me for the service I needed, and was very easy to work with. I'm very happy with John's Garage Doors. They charged me a fair price and, in my opinion, I got a whole lot more than I paid for. A technician came out and quoted me $200 to replace one broken spring, so I agreed to it. He went outside and came back in and changed the quote to $830! I though that was absurd, so I declined the work. He insisted that I had to pay for the labor of removing the broken spring. He claimed it was $350. When I said I didn't have that amount, he lowered it to $250, then $200, until agreeing on $180. I didn't want to give him any money because he changed the amount he quoted, which is the reason I changed my mind. I felt pressured into giving him the money. He took the cash and left without fixing the spring. The whole ordeal felt shiesty, so I called the company to let them know what happened. FYI, they use a call answering service, so good luck speaking to a representative from the company. I still haven't heard back from someone regarding the issue. I'm out $180 because the tech's quote jumped up over $600. The answering service reps were very nice and promised they would call me back, but it's been a week and I still feel like I got robbed.

Purchased a roll-up commercial door to be installed on our new steel garage at our home…read more Very expensive door as we knew it would be, because of the type of door it is and the size of the door. Was installed in August 2023. Unfortunately, the packing materials and glue were stuck to the door paint. They didn't see it on install day. Called them and they came up to fix the door and paint promptly. Unfortunately, there is still glue stuck on the door. Had the owner come up yesterday, November 13, 2023, and look at the paint that is scratching off when the door rolls up. I was told this is normal for any door that rolls up on itself. Dust and dirt cause it. He told me that they installed what we ordered. Yes, the conversation went ugly from that point on my part. This damage will not be covered under the paint warranty. Knowing we were now stuck with the damage and future damage, we should have been told this could happen. I thought we had done our research prior to spending $4k for a door. I was wrong. No customer would have known about this. Only the garage door company knew. Warning to all future buyers. Ask more questions before you purchase your garage door. Had we known this prior, we would have not had it painted.
