We visited the US from Europe for 3 weeks and this was by far our worst experience. I don't think I have written such long review but this experience was so poor. The owner actually runs a motel and advertises a dirt bike and quad for rental. Unfortunately, we agreed to rent and were asked to sign a very long rental agreement on the owners iPad. We then waited about 45 mins while he drove the bike/quad to the garage for gas, then we drove across town to the trails and the owner left us. First of all, the both the bike and quad are 10 years old and in poor condition. We paid $300 + 50 for gas. We did not see them before we signed (stupidly that was our fault) as that would have been a big warning sign. When they kept stalling the owner said that when they warm up, they will be fine. They weren't and made riding for my quite difficult. The console of quad kept popping off and the steering was crooked. The stand of the dirt bike was held up by a rope and it dropped down during the ride. The clutch and brake handles were both bent. Needless to say, we did not enjoy ourselves. When the owner came back at the end of ride, he said that we had scratched the back of bike and bent the clutch and asked for $70 more in damages to cover a bent clutch handle. When I asked him how he comes to $70, he became abusive and said I was a 'dick' and that the rental contract allows him to change up to $500 at his sole discretion. Shortly, there after he decided to charge $150. I will contest this with the credit card company. My advice to anyone thinking of renting is don't. If you do, read the agreement and have a look at the bike and quad and better still drive them before you sign and pay. You won't want to rent once you do that. read more

These guys charged us for a bike that was never delivered..we had to call them to find out when delivery was...they finally called saying driver has a flat. They can't deliver..SMH...but still get charged for a service we never recieved... read more

Do not rent from this place. His stuff was broken when we rented it. He claimed he fixed it but one seatbelt and door did not work. As well, the vehicle had been wrecked and ran horribly. The owner claimed he would give us money back, none was ever received. Very disappointing experience. read more

Awesome service and they deliver the ATVs right to you! We were staying in a KoA in calico and they brought us these atvs and taught us how to get em going. Super nice friendly and easy to book also you get a great set of ATV for pretty cheap. Our security deposit was refunded instantly aswell. Very very very fun read more

Awesome business and great prices! We had a blast on our 2 hour atv rental and all thanks to Apex Off-road Rentals. I've got the soreness in my arms and legs to prove it haha. I called ahead to check availability but all the reservation and payment can be done online. We got the red and black Honda 250 for 2 hours reservation. They called me the day of reservation and dropped off the atv for us at the designated location. This was my first time riding atv so they made sure to walk us through how to ride (semi-auto btw). Gave us helmets and gloves, & we were good to go! Awesome ride with plenty of hills and once the 2 hours were up we just met up where our car was parked and they handled the rest. Easy! They're a new business in the area so if you're considering Apex, check em out! I know for sure we're coming back to Barstow and will check them out again :) read more

This is the second time my family has utilized these rental services. The first time was February 2021. Then again this weekend November 2021. One family was from Illinois and another from Texas. Rented a side-by-side while stuck in Barstow waiting for parts for my Motorhome. They went above and beyond to get the RZR to me at my hotel, even making special arrangements to go watch the sunrise. I always passed through Barstow, but I will now be adding as a stop so I can rent from these guys again. The side-by-side was in mint condition, and ran great it was so much fun I almost called the next day to rent again. Highly not recommended. Vehicles at this business are old scratched up and mechanically unreliable. I rented 2 quads for two hours and paid 320$. After 30 minutes one of the quads broke down. I called this company they came out and once confirmed its breakdown they provided me a replacement quad. I lost over 30 minutes of down time due to this issue. They provided only 15 minutes of compensation. I requested my full 30 minutes and they denied my request. I am already extremely unhappy about that. Approximately one hour later the replacement quad died and would not start. After calling the company they basically could offer no solution. They said that they've never had issues and one of the quads just got out of the shop... I told them that i can send them a video it's legitimately not starting.. Eventually they told me they were going to come and get the rentals. They picked up the rentals before my 2 hours I paid was completed. I asked for compensation and they refused. I felt as if they thought I would have done something to cause issues with their vehicles. I only received just over an hour of my rentals purchase and i was not compensated a credit for missing time. This merchant has not upheld their end of the purchase agreement. I've had to file an incident report with Barstow PD & I will be contacting my financial institution once it posts to my account. If you do utilize their services you will see absolute wear to rental vehicles. If you do have issues of reliability you will not be compensated fairly of the value of your funds.
