She & several others parked there and got a parking violation. $40 if paid in 14 days...otherwise $60. Highway robbery. The parking garages don't charge that much. WTH!!! I went down to the parking lot to see what kind of signage and lighting there was. Yes, there is a sign that says "permitted parking 8-5pm" and under that in smaller lettering it says after hours payment. WHY not put that part in reflective lettering and bigger OR better yet - put up lights so it can be seen. I did call and speak to Daniel - the Manager and explained the situation and he was understanding and did drop the violation fee to $20 instead of the $40...which I am appreciative of. But please put better and adequate lighting up. Unless this is how you are making $$$ by not having adequate lighting. You are better off finding street parking or an actual parking garage. Way CHEAPER!

We had a small group at noon on March 22, 2026 and Rob was great about answering our many questions and curiosities! His next tour at 1:30pm was huge so we were lucky to have a more intimate gathering! Now I need to figure out a reason to have a party there and rent the space. So cool.

It was designed by NY architects & opened in 1925. However it was closed when we arrived Monday at 10:30 we came back in the afternoon and walked inside. We took the elevator up to the bell tower for city views. The Great Hall is a 3,542-sq ft multi-story atrium that once was the stations waiting room. Ten original benches line the walls of the Great Hall holding 300 standing & 165 seated people.. hours are limited because this venue is rented out The original 1925 Barkalow Brothers Newsstand is featured on the west wall. The newsstand has been slightly restored but remains in its' original form. This area is great for a buffet or display. The Great Halls' ceiling is lined with Spanish trusses, each imprinted with antique locomotives. The famous Platt Gardens are here.

I called at least 10 times, left at least 3 messages, emailed numerous times to all the email addresses I could find - and no one ever got back to me. I have screenshots of the paid-for parking. I finally went to pay for parking on their website just so I wouldn't get towed in the future, and we had a ticket in there from a different day too - a day we didn't even leave the house - and we had definitely not received a ticket on our car considering our car was in our own driveway all day. To this day, they still will not return any of my messages. We are downtown at the ICCU Arena a LOT, and spend a lot of money in this specific lot - and I will now walk blocks rather than giving them any money.

I contacted Republic Parking immediately and Dee replied saying there were "several permit parking only" signs in the lot. I went back to the lot, took lots of photos and sent them to her. They showed the lot entrance, and every single parking space with no signs anywhere. She repied with two photos of faded, small signs low to the ground and not near the entrance or any of the parking spaces, and the signs say nothing about a permit being required. Dee wouldn't budge, so I filed a complaint with the BBB. They closed the case without making a decision. (Thanks, that was a big help, BBB!) In the 4 months since our tickets were issued, neither Republic Parking nor the client (Global Travel) has updated any signage in the lot. You think that after seeing my photos, from a driver's perspective, they'd make a good faith effort to mark the lot.

Movies, an arena, ballet, zoo, opera, library, museums, parks ... The depot is at one end of downtown while the state capital is at the other. The 8th Ave pedestrian block passes through the Grove or hub of activity. The 100 yrs old buildings have been elegantly gentrified. This small city is clean, safe & quiet.

We visited Idaho's Capitol building while on a trip to the Gem state, and it's located in downtown…read moreBoise, which is its capital city, and their capitol is really quite impressive, massive and grand. Lots of incredible ornate architecture, marble and other fancy stones galore are used in many opulent carvings and designs throughout the building. There are many historical sculptures in this capitol and there's also a small museum like exhibit at the basement inside that goes over the history of Idaho and important past, recent, and current events. Their legislature's meeting hall was also quite large and regal. All in all, it was an eye-opening tour of Idaho's capitol building, it really is worth a visit here to see some pretty amazing sculptures, paintings, architecture (especially the rotunda), and to learn about this state's history in a real life way.
