Burnt Ends, Chicken, Coleslaw, Smoked Potato Salad
    Kim M.

Listen... I'm not saying I'd elbow someone out of the way for Big Mike's burnt ends, but I am saying I'm not sharing them. With anyone. Ever. These things are otherworldly -- melt-in-your-mouth tender with that crisp, caramelized, candy-coated exterior that should honestly be illegal. I happily make the 90-minute drive from Moore County because this BBQ is that good. The chicken? Juicy. The brisket? Fantastic. But the burnt ends? Those are the reason I'm blocking off my schedule and grabbing my keys like I've got somewhere holy to be. The fries were perfectly cooked (crispy but not trying too hard), and their spin on potato salad was surprisingly delicious -- they smoke the potatoes, and somehow that makes the whole thing taste like comfort food's cooler, more interesting cousin. If you're thinking about going... go. Just don't expect me to share my burnt ends. I meant what I said.

I am a huge fan of BBQ baby backs and Big Mikes serves up some tasty ribs. I ate half a rack in one seating. It comes with two sides and I tried the beans and collards, both were also very good. I like the vinegar BBQ sauce. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I sat outside to enjoy some sunshine, but indoor seating is also available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plenty of parking. Please come and create your own adventure.

First tried this place awhile ago due to so the good reviews. Got food to go and waited for it to be ready. The wait wasn't too long. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was more of an afternoon time during the week day so it wasn't too busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered Mac n cheese, cucumber salad, and bbq. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor inside was cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It had a nice little sitting area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor patio seems to be pretty popular as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was ok. I felt all of it was pretty dry and not that flavorful. I added sauces and seasonings When I was home. I was thinking it might have been a one off experience but my neighbor said they had the same thoughts about it.

I ordered take out on a Saturday evening. It was really fast, but I also came at 5:00 -probably before the dinner rush. I tried the brisket, mac and cheese, and collards. I enjoyed everything! The brisket was tender and had so much flavor. The Mac and cheese was creamy and wonderful. The collards were tasty with a little kick of heat. Delicious!

We had a great experience at Big Mike's BBQ! Honestly, we were a little skeptical at first, but I'm so glad we gave it a try. I was really craving brisket, and this place did not disappoint. If you're like me and want a little bit of everything, I highly recommend the Big Mike's Platter--it comes with three sides and a generous portion of meat that can easily feed 5-6 people. We paired our meal with a cold beer, and I loved that they offer local options. The staff was warm and friendly, checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot truly deserves more attention--great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We'll definitely be coming back! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Oh, great for family & friends and tons of outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We ordered a lot BBQ last May for a pre-Graduation dinner at the BNB House we rented for my brother's graduation with our family. The BBQ in which we ordered everything was yummy and delicious! The side of collard greens, Mac and cheese and okra were top notch. Seriously different BBQ from CA, TX or any other state I have order BBQ. It was moist and juicy and made with quality meats. It was all superb. We ordered ahead of time and bought a few hundred dollars of BBQ and sides for 7 family members. When we arrived to pick it up, it was all there and ready to go. Service was quick and fast. Only wish was that they had rice as a side so I got some next door at the Chinese restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was typical BBQ and it was steady business.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Big Mikes is an excellent representation of North Carolina BBQ which is well know. I liked it and definitely distinct from TX and MO BBQ. If you are in the area, head in there and get a platter which has samples of meats available from sausage, brisket, pulled pork and chicken! BTW I hate drowning my food in sauces.

Crazy good BBQ. Nachos were different, but the more we are, the more we wanted. The Brisket was melt in your mouth, fall apart goodness. Let me tell you, the Burnt Ends were unanimously agreed to be absolutely phenomenal...the perfect balance of seasonings with sweet, it was like little meaty candied morsels. Everything was so perfect, even though nothing needed it, we had to try their original sauces which added just enough zest to an already delightful meal. On a side note...the Smoked Potato Salad was such an interesting twist ... It almost was meat like in taste and texture, like nothing I've ever encountered. So glad we had leftovers... excited to have more later

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Interesting place, on a pretty day you can sit out side and get served. Or sit inside in the bar area or sit at a table in another room[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Check out the pictures. I placed an Order to go, and the waitress was very nice helping me out. I ordered a lb of Chopped BBQ Pork, very good, lb of Chopped BBQ Chicken, I would not get this again, the sauce was good but the Chicken may have been left over from the day before. A lb of Texas Style Brisket, it was good but they put goood slices on the top and hid very fatty slices underneath. Then a Jalapeno/ Cheddar Sausage Link, not bad, good heat to it. Would I go back again...no. If there is a Big Mike, I would reevaluate the food you serve and step up the quality.

We were near the Raleigh Durham Airport and looking for a place to eat a late lunch. We are not very familiar with the Raleigh area and decided to check Big Mike's out based on Yelp reviews. We arrived about 4pm and were immediately greeted by a young lady. She told us we could take a seat anywhere. I should note there wasn't another customer in sight. We took a seat at one of the large tables and we were brought menus. We immediately noticed the floor was very slippery. She agreed and said something about the people who mopped the floor the previous night. The menu is on the small side and we thought the prices were higher than what we see in the Triad area but they may be very comparable to the local Raleigh-Durham area. We were told they were out of fries and also a second item which I don't now recall what it was. Two of us decided on the pulled pork while the other two decided to order brisket to share along with assorted sides. The sides ordered were mac n cheese and slaw. The interior seems clean and comfortable but did have a bit of a dingy feel to it. While we waited for our food we did see to go orders being picked up but no one else came in to sit down. Our food arrived in a timely manner and looked good. We dug in and thought it was decent but not fantastic like the BBQ we had earlier in our trip which we all compared it to. Overall, this was a decent experience but did not blow our socks off. Maybe we were there on an off day but there is room for improvement in our opinion.

    Nachos

Be careful: the recommended tips on the receipt are post-tax. But yeah, this place is so disappointing. It used to be the best in the triangle, now it's a far cry from that. I still come every year or so in hopes that they've improved, but it's only gotten worse. I ordered the dry rub wings this time, and there was like a teaspoon of rub across a pound of wings. These use to be my favorite wings in the triangle. Ugh. The food has SKYROCKETED in price too. $18 for a bbq platter, $28 for dry brisket.

Dampf Good BBQ is a popular Texas-style barbecue food truck in Cary, NC, known for its brisket, beef ribs, and homemade sausages, operating out of Phillips Farm. Dampf is the name of two brothers who run huge wood fired smokers. Dampf is open Thursday through Saturday, opening at 11:00 am and may often sell out before closing. There is online ordering available but there is no delivery services through Door Dash or UBER EATS at this time. The dining area is rusticly limited to casual dress covered outdoor space that offers picnic tables for seating at Phillips farm. We finally had time to order the Dampf Feast. OMG, This puts bbq I've had in the motherland of bbq, Texas, in second place! Dampf has earned that Michelin star. The beef rib is lean yet tender and flavorful. Melt in your mouth but without the squishy fat in between the meat. It was cooked and rendered to perfection. The rub is delicious. The pork ribs are my new favorite! IF I could somehow marry them with the (and don't hate me for saying this) P.F.Changs Korean BBQ rib sauce, I'd never eat anything else ever again. The pork ribs had a ever so slightly sweet and tangy rub on them. Very tender, hardly any fat so again, a perfect cook and render. The brisket was a tad salty for my preference but oh my, it was cooked to utter perfection. It was melt in your mouth moist and so flavorful. The turkey was very flavorful and will make for excellent sandwiches tomorrow. It was moist, which for turkey, is a testament to their skill. I didn't try the sausages as it's not my thing, our kids loved them. Lastly the pulled pork was the absolute best I've ever had. Period and hands down. Lean, moist and just enough sauce to give flavor. The bbq baked beans were oh so yummy and with a little kick! The fire roasted veggies were done to perfection. Roasted and cooked yet crispy and packed with flavor. I got two and even the kids went back for more! I can say this, Dampf has earned every bit of that Michelin star. Sorry, no pics. There wasn't any time. The whole drive home I was tormented by the aromas wafting in from the trunk. The camera wasn't even a thought. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Post: I'm leaving this review purely based on one interaction and the complete and utter lack of respect or appreciation for the people who decide to support their business. We like Texas bbq. So much so that we order regularly from Terry Black's Barbecue in Texas so when someone on Next Door suggested dampf, we decided to try it. Initially we drove past it because it's a very non descript location but it looked promising being on the property of a farm. They serve out of a food truck so the line forms outside, not a big deal but this day was rather chilly, still, for Texas styled ribs, it's worth the cold. Because we have experience with a Texas styled ribs restaurant (brick and mortar) in PA that would often sell out, we checked the menu for anything crossed out. We checked for any notices indicating items unavailable. There were no such notices and nothing on the menu was crossed out. We got in line and waited. Ten minutes, then twenty and the line barely moved and most of that was due to patrons ahead of us in the line deciding to leave. After an hour, it just over that, someone came and advised that they've been sold out of beef ribs, pork ribs and brisket for 2 hours. Wow. Way to show respect for our time. Why not cross out those menu items? Even after that announcement, they didn't update their menu. I just don't think I can hand over my money to a business that doesn't respect my time or business. EDIT: I received a reply from Dampf and appreciate the courtesy of that reply. We will give them a try, perhaps using the online ordering to be certain we don't show up when something has been sold out.

The girl at the register was struggling....both with my order and the order ahead of me, but she finally got it right. The volume inside was very loud today, I guess partly due to lots of people. I had "lean" brisket, collards , fried okra and sweet tea. I had one good piece of lean meat, but the rest was more fat and smaller pieces. The collards were spiced differently than I remembered. I will not get again. The okra was hot, but lacked flavor. Needs some kind of seasoning in the batter. The portion was smaller than last time as well. Another big factor in the decreased stars is the cleanliness of the tables. The table I had to sit at was REALLY disgusting. I cleaned it with a bunch of towels then went to the bathroom and got wet towels and tried again. I saw others wiping down their tables as well. There was no one taking care of the dining room at all the whole time I was there. Not a good experience here this time. The meal was $20 even after a senior discount!

I ordered a combo plate of chicken pastry and bbq pork, with sides of fried okra and potato salad. Everything was served piping hot, just as it should be. The Chicken Pastry (chicken and dumplings) had wonderful flavor and was comfort food at its finest with thick and wide chewy noodle dumplings. So often chicken and dumpling dishes can be overly salty but Ole Time Barbecue's was perfectly seasoned. The barbecue pork also had great flavor and also was seasoned perfectly, though unfortunately I can't do even the most mild of spicy, so even tho there were only a few red pepper flakes, they made it a little bit challenging for me to eat. The fried okra was cooked and seasoned perfectly and not at all oily and the potato salad was also really tasty. I also tasted their coleslaw and mac and cheese from Hubs dinner and both were delicious as well. Also loved their sweet tea, I got it 25% sweet . The biggest surprise was the large basket of tasty hush puppies brought to our table the minute we sat down, and refilled. Also delicious and seasoned perfectly. The location is very homey and diner like, with just a handful of tables so you may have to wait, though luckily we didn't. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was they served their sides in styrofoam containers versus reusable dishes like they use for their main courses. I do love that they're using reusable dishes for their mains so it seems like they could also do this for their sides. Less trash for the restaurant and better for the world... .
