We stopped into The Dugout Tavern & Grill at 1413 Kelly Road, in Apex this weekend. For Brunch. Thing about Brunch, some restaurants do it and do it well. A lot don't and say they did/do. Dugout nails it. Menu was perfect size, drink options were awesome. Food tasted as well as, or even better than it reads on the menu. And service --- service is top notch. Our server this day, Annabelle, was extraordinary! Best In Class, kind of service. I'm inclined to tell you the place sucks, dirty, crappy food, don't waste your time visiting, to have it all to myself. But that would be rude, and just not my style. Go There Soon! read more

We visited during the FIFA World Cup, and it was a great time. There were tons of TVs, and every screen was showing the matches, which made for a fun atmosphere. The food was typical pub fare, but it was still good. Our waitress was attentive, but during a shift change we were left without anyone checking on us. We wanted to order something to go, and it was surprisingly difficult to get someone's attention. The location is a great spot to catch a game with friends. The massive screen in the bar area is perfect for watching, although seating there is somewhat limited. There's also a nice outdoor seating area if the weather is comfortable. read more

I've been coming here every week for trivia because it's usually a fun night and the host does a great job. But last night was handled terribly. Halfway through trivia, the restaurant abruptly cut over the audio to the USA soccer game with no warning, no announcement, and apparently without even telling the trivia host. The commentary was so loud that trivia couldn't continue at all. The host literally had to stop because there was nothing he could do over the volume. The whole room was left confused, wondering whether trivia had just been canceled in the middle of the event. Customers who came specifically for trivia were treated like an afterthought, and the host was put in an awkward, embarrassing position through no fault of his own. If management wanted to prioritize the soccer game, fine -- but communicate that ahead of time. Don't advertise or host trivia and then suddenly drown it out halfway through the night. Really disappointing and disrespectful to the host and to everyone who showed up for trivia. The manager should be kicked in the nuts and fired. read more

Really enjoyed the Miracle on Rice with a Pacifico draft ($5 special). The service was great. The TVs are a loud, so I wouldn't recommend sitting inside if you want to have conversation. The patio is a quieter option. read more

We were in our way home from the NC Zoo and driving back to Chesapeake Va. we stopped in here for a quick bite to eat. The food was ok but the service was not even what I would call adequate. They were no overly busy however my waitress Bailey couldn't get things right. I ordered a Coke Zero no ice which I said 4 times to make sure and it came out with ice, my daughter's drink didn't even come out until I asked about it. I ordered a Bowl of soup it came out as a cup. We ordered dinner and all was fine except my son ordered a pretzel and it came out 5-7 minutes after a burger, wings, and Chicken Salad sandwich. The Chicken Salad was nothing more than a cream based sauce and was supposed to have Jalapeño and had only 2 small pieces. It was tasteless, the Barry Bonds Burger was good but I ordered it medium and it came out well done. The wings and pretzel both tasted fine. Walked in the men's room after to wash my hands and there was paper towel all over the floor and in the sink. I will try it again because everyone deserves a second chance, but there are to many spots in Apex for this service. read more

Solid sports bar experience. Service was attentive and friendly without being rushed or overbearing. Food arrived in a timely manner. Hubby got a delicious smash burger and I had the yummy kabobs and a side salad in place of rice. TVs were tuned to a variety of games/sports and music was playing at a level that still allowed for conversation. Overall great Friday dinner. We will return. We tried them a couple times. The first time was when they first opened and it was bad. We gave it time for them to settle in and tried them again today. Today is probably the last time. We ordered burger one med and one med/well. Both came out well well done. Cheese wasn't even melted on the burgers. I heard they were owned by the same people who own Abbey Road.... The burgers here are NOT even close to abbey road. Definitely not $15 burgers. Too many other options around. Whoever is cooking here clearly doesn't care or they just don't read the orders. read more

I had the Ty Cobb which was an ok salad, lettuce seemed pretty fresh and the grilled chicken was pretty good, but the tomatoes diced were soggy, the bacon pieces were hard and not like fresh bacon, more like out of a bag, the avocado was kind of not ripe but brown...weird. The chips here are yummy (tho pretty greasy) the wings were very good grilled. Service was a little lacking, prices a bit high for quality and quantity of food. Your typical bar with lots of TVs. We were happy to hear that the owners of Abbey Road took over the old Glory Days space. They didn't change the interior...It still has the neighborhood sports bar ambiance. They did change the menu as this is a new concept. It was cute that most of the dishes had baseball/sports references. I appreciated the different options that are available. The Grand Slamwiches we ordered were pretty good but not spectacular. I liked that you had a choice of sides. Our server was a bit inattentive. Finally! Someone took over the former Glory Days and gives us a restaurant that provides a winning product and service that will survive. Ambience: not much was done during the remodel, but it's clean, plenty TV's, and outdoor seating is available. Service: very friendly, attentive (but still learning the menu) and even a manager that checked in us. Unheard of at Glory Days. Food: very much resembles the food Abbey Road that owns Dugout. Burger was great, same enormous mozzarella sticks, plus new items like pizza, and new sandwiches. Overall: menu can be sort of daunting because every item is named after a sports player and it can take awhile to find exactly what you're looking for. They are still working to get this a well oiled machine, but easily a great addition to the neighborhood and knocks Glory Days out of the water. Go and enjoy! read more

We came to Apex from FL to visit family. Decided to stop for lunch here. Lots of TVs. Fun to watch a spring training game from where we just came from. But on to the food. I had the 'Ken Griffey', a fried haddock plate. Instead of FF I had the tater tots. It was really good and washed down w the daily beer special @3.75 . The Dugout Tavern & Grill is open in the space previously occupied by Glory Days. It is from the people that own Abbey Road so the menu is similar except the names of the menu items. The service was so slow to start but it eventually got better. Our table started off with a round of beers. Next it was the maz with fries for my friend, the big papi burger with fries for my husband and the tour de france with sweet potato fries since they were out of fruit for me. The au jus looked questionable for my sandwich and it was not the best. I hope that this spot will get better with time. read more

3 different fees for online ordering. Very excessive and unnecessary. Also mobile website is buggy as all get out. I added 3 items to my bag and tried to add a 4th. I couldn't scroll up or down past this one specific item(Roman Gabriel). No matter where I navigated, if I tried to go back to food or stuck on that one item. In addition, on many items, I could click the add to order button on the item page. It would not scroll up. With that said, in person has always been a good experience and food is solid. When we arrived, we were greeted by the blaring of multiple televisions. Okay if you are going to watch a game. Not okay if you want to speak with your spouse over dinner. Pleasantly surprised there was no wait on a Saturday night. We were offered drinks right away and we placed an app order. When asked about placing our dinner order at the same time, I explicitly said we would, if we had time to enjoy the app before the dinner order came out. The answer was of course. Did this happen? No. We enjoyed just a couple bites of our nachos before our ribs and fish came out. Now I have to decide between cold nachos or cold fish. Yuck on both. The ambiance is pure sports bar. If you haven't been to the dugout, you need to!! The best local spot and food is always hot and great! We have had numerous team outings for our state championship run and the dugout was always accommodating and welcoming to our big groups. Glad we have a spot like this locally. read more

I overheard one of the older female managers making racial comments to a customer. This is completely unacceptable, and quite frankly I'm utterly disappointed. It doesn't look different inside since they took over from Glory Days. Finally went to try it and was HUGELY disappointed. Boneless wings - merely cut up pieces of chicen drenched in a sauce; wasn't eaten entirely loaded Nachos - TONS of nachos (loaded alright) with very little of a anything else. LIttle lettuce and pico de gallo nor queso. Had to ask for more cheese; otherwise, I would literally be eating dry nachos. Banbino Burger - came only with the meat, cheese and bacon. The person who ate this said it tasted like a frozen patty. Fries were decent. This is below average bar food. I had hoped it would be good but we wont be returning. What a shame as Apex needs more restaurants, but we need good ones. read more
