Couldn't have been happier with our choice to stay at the Duck Inn. The room and lobby was perfectly clean, staff was so friendly, and the breakfast they served was absolutely delicious. We didn't need anything during our stay, but I am confident that if we did, they would have made it happen. A very pleasant experience. And we were lucky enough to see deer & river otters off of our balcony. So awesome! If I ever go back to Whitefish, there's no question I would return to Duck Inn Lodge. read more

We had an amazing stay at the Duck Inn Lodge! Enjoyed the best coffee every morning(served at 6:30) on our balcony while watching beavers, deer, ducks and fish while the cool breeze kissed our cheeks. (We will miss this so much.)Delicious breakfast was served daily from 7:30-9:30. Bed was insanely comfortable, didn't want to leave it. The location is about 5 mins to anything in Whitefish and it was so peaceful. We loved our stay, and will be back. Thank y'all for the best time we've had in years!! I've stayed at the Duck Inn Lodge twice, and both times it has been fantastic. The owner, Mark, and all the employees are incredibly kind and accommodating. They put a lot of work into making it a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. I reached out to them about my food allergies before my trip and they made sure that there was food I could eat at breakfast, which relieved a lot of stress for me. The location is great too -- very close to downtown and a short drive to Glacier National Park. I'm staying here again if I'm ever back in Whitefish! read more

Great little inn. I paid $100 for a large room with a fireplace and river view balcony. Wifi is fast and free, parking is free, hotel is conveniently located and the free breakfast was better than I expected. I would definitely stay here again or recommend to my friends visiting. read more

What a cute, cozy lodge to stay the night! The owners are very friendly and make you feel right at home. Everything was very clean, and your breakfast will be made by the owners themselves (this morning was homemade, fresh hot breakfast). Overall, highly recommend this lodge to stay, especially if you want a good price for staying in Whitefish. Also, side note, the only reviews I see on here that are anything but 5 stars are from years ago when there was different management. The new owners provided impeccable hospitality and deserve nothing but 5 stars!!! read more

What a lovely bed and breakfast! We came here for our honeymoon and stayed in the honeymoon suite! The room had a fireplace, microwave, fridge, king bed, and a heart shaped bathtub! AND we had a balcony overlooking the river. Tyler and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. They gave us great recommendation where to eat. The daily breakfast was delicious, especially the waffles and quiche. We will definitely go back. read more

I want to start by saying the posts below mine are from the previous owner/Inn keeper. Mark is an amazing host and is now one of the new owners of this fine establishment. My wife and I decided it would be an amazing idea to hike in glacier for our 1 year anniversary. We traveled by car from Seattle to Whitefish and wanted the most amazing memories and picked this cozy little place out of all the hotels. Mark contacted us prior to our visit because we let them know on the booking that we would be showing up around 1am and he wanted to ensure we would be able to get into our room hassle free as that was out of the normal hours of operation. He set this up flawlessly word for word as planned and even left notes in case we had forgotten. Each morning I woke up to a new breakfast option including a full continental breakfast. He even made fresh banana, blueberry and walnut topped waffles for us to enjoy with our delicious coffee on our balcony overlooking the river. The fireplace and jacuzzi tub were fantastic as well. Thank you so much for a wonderful first time in Montana. We will be back to Whitefish and I guarantee I will be sadly disappointed if I have to stay anywhere other than here. We really appreciate it. My fiancé and I loved our stay at Duck Inn Lodge and will always stay here whenever we're Whitefish! The rooms were so nice and clean, ours included a fireplace and a balcony overlooking the river. The owners make and serve breakfast every morning downstairs, which was fantastic before long days of hiking in Glacier National Park. Here's the thing - if you're going to stay in Whitefish, and you've chosen someplace else, we can't understand why. The hosts are so friendly, including "Beckett". The breakfast is incredible, and yes, I'd have to say the waffles are the best in Montana. We stayed in the best room there, but we won't tell you which one because we want it next time. It was so comfortable, that we felt like we were staying in a friend's house. Private balcony overlooking Whitefish River and a view of the Whitefish Mountain. We had a very nice experience at The Duck Inn Lodge. The hosts are exceptional. The breakfast is very well done with several options including a different egg type casserole every day and homemade waffles! We had to leave a day early due to health related issues and they were very accommodating. The rooms were very nice and clean and the toiletries are first rate. We would definitely recommend and we would go back. My only negatives would be the AC is pretty noisy and the mattresses could be updated but other than that it was a very good experience. My husband and I are visiting from FL and have just found Duck Inn Lodge as our home away from home. Convenient location--a nice little town with easy drive to Glacier National Park. Our hosts--Tyler, Mark and Alisa have done a fantastic job making us feel welcome and at ease. The simple rustic decor of solid natural materials invites relaxation even before we enter our suite. The bed was perfect for deep revitalizing sleep. Our bathroom was impeccably clean and supplied with hotel grade towels and sample toiletries. Breakfast was a generous spread of the usual and expected continental fare served with delicious fresh brewed Big Sky coffee and a selection of teas. As you peruse the many options, Mark or Tyler brings out from the oven a hearty breakfast casseroles from old family recipes. Each morning we stayed there, we were served casseroles with different meat and vegetable combinations bound by light and fluffy eggs. Family recipe waffles were prepared to your order with several topping options. So much personal touches with warm home-y friendliness. Duck Inn Lodge truly is unique and makes a tough competition for our favorite hotel chain. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Let me start off by saying the staff was wonderful! They care about the inn like it's their baby. In the mornings Tyler and Mark make a killer waffle and hot egg side dish (that I wish I could have every morning!). Alyssa who works at night was super friendly and kind answering any questions. 10/10 for friendliness, and hospitality. The rooms are great! We had a corner bedroom that looked over the river, the room itself was huge with a balcony. The bedding was super fluffy and awesome after a long day at the park. I would come back again! Had the ideal stay at The Duck in August! Perfect location... a short drive from the airport, a quick & easy walk into town for dinner, drinks, shops, galleries, etc., and close enough to GNP to spend the entire day there. We were also within a few miles of skiing & summer activities at Whitefish Mtn as well as boat, kayak, paddle board, water ski and/or wakeboard rentals. Our room and the common areas of the lodge were immaculate, the beds were extremely comfortable and the room quiet. Every morning the breakfast was delicious, and the evenings of board games were much appreciated and enjoyed after long days of hiking! We went to Whitefish without a plan, and we could not have had a better time - all of which I attribute to the owners' wonderful hospitality and ability to send us on our way each day with a plan tailored to our interests. Customer service? Not here!! The smoke detector chirped at 11:30PM, the Deluxe room fireplace didn't work and the door to the bath squeaked so loud it woke up everyone in the room. We asked for an air mattress for the kids which they failed to bring to the room then when they brought one, it leaked!! The "management" was surprised when we told them we were checking out after our disastrous night and they even tried to blame us for THEIR PROBLEMS. read more

This is a wonderful place! The management is so friendly and eager to assist in any way they can. Our room was upstairs so our deck looked out on the river. It was very clean, smoke free, luxurious without being stiff, and very comfortable. The previous review that said the rooms were dark is puzzling. Our room was very light, although the light bulbs are compact fluorescent so take a minute to warm up and become completely bright. The breakfast is continental, but perfectly adequate. Rochelle made quiche one morning that was delicious! We have already recommended the Inn to several family members. One note: if stairs are an issue, there is no handicapped entrance nor an elevator. There is also no handicapped parking space. We found that true in most of Montana, so it is not specific to the Duck Inn. read more

The Duck Inn Lodge surpassed my expectations! It recently came under new management and they have really put their hearts into making the lodge welcoming and homey for their guests. The rooms and bathrooms are a good size. The beds are comfortable. The room I stayed in had a balcony with a beautiful view, as well as a fireplace in the room. The lodge has a nice common area where you can go to read a book by the fireplace or chat with family and friends. It's minutes away from a ton of restaurants, but a tasty breakfast is already included with the stay. But best of all, the owners are super attentive and do their best to make your experience the best it can be. I totally recommend this hotel! read more

Stayed at the Duck Inn twice and both visits were wonderful. Mark has a great breakfast ready every morning and incredibly personable. The beds were really comfortable and the in-room fireplace is great. The lounge or living room with the real wood fireplace is a great place to relax after snowboarding or hiking in glacier national park. When the weather is nice the front patio is great place to unwind with a view of the river. The location is an easy short walk to town. We will be back! read more

Grim, grim, grim. Enter in late afternoon and you can barely find your way; dark and no lights on. Doors into and in our little room are a dark wood with black graining. The only positives are the flowers in front and a balcony outside our little room overlooking a little river. And for this, we paid the very pricey $460 dollars for only 2 nights. read more

We booked a room months before we need it. We had to cancel it almost 4 weeks ahead of time due to the wildfires and the smoke in Montana. We were charged the ENTIRE amount of our stay (1 night). They were not willing to budge or modify their policy for extenuating circumstances. read more

My girlfriend and I came up to whitefish for spring break and stayed in the honeymoon suite. The room itself is very nice and the giant bath tub and fireplace combination in it is fantastic. That being said, we were rather disappointed with the service. Supposedly we could get fresh made breakfast in the morning before 10 am if we rang the service bell in the lobby. We rang multiple times and waited from 9 am to about 945 am but no one showed up. However, right as we were leaving to get breakfast elsewhere, the UPS driver showed up and she (the inn keeper) instantly came down, grabbed the package and dissappeared upstairs before we could get her attention. Every time I tried to contact the front desk I was ignored, including at the end when I wanted a receipt for my stay. I rang the front desk bell, called the hotel itself and waited for 20 minutes before giving up and leaving. Beautiful hotel but I doubt we will be staying here again next time we visit Whitefish. read more
