The rolls were perfect not too much oil and garlic. The gnocchi was light with just the right amount of sauce. Service was excellent. I AM OBSESSED with Apizza! It's in a random shopping plaza right next to Trader Joe's and across from the Datran and you wouldn't think anything of it but wow is it good. I've tried their pizzas and their pastas and SERIOUSLY delicious. I love how thin and crunchy yet soft their pizzas are. They're cooked in a wood fire oven so it gets that nice cook that I am TOTALLY obsessed with. Food wasn't great but was not bad. Was Average at best. Our waiter forgot to take capers out of the dish my father ordered as he asked for olives and capers to be taken out of the dish and they were still there. He also asked for the dish to be spicy but lo and behold it wasn't. I think chefs are scared to make a dish spicy. My dad literally challenges them and says you can never make anything too spicy! Like he wants to legit cry and tells them that. I kid you not but they didn't honor his request and for him spice is everything. Don't think I'll be going back. Wine was ok but there really wasn't much of a selection for moderately priced wines. They had more of the pricey ones and then the house wine. For a girls night out we decided to try it out and were very pleased with the exceptional service and fresh ingredients that make the pizza so delicious! The atmosphere of this restaurant is laid back somewhat of an upscale causal. We ordered the Brooklynite pizza (12" which is equivalent to 6 slices) from the neopolitan pizza section. This pizza is made in the brick oven! It consisted of prosciutto, tomato sauce, homemade mozzarella and shaved parmigiano-reggiano. We also had the Grandma Tookit pizza form the NY pizza section which is a white pie with fresh garlic, mozzarella, and ricotta. & of course we couldn't skip out on dessert. We had the Real Deal! The replacement pizza was fine until I noticed something was off with the taste. When I looked at the bottom of the pizza slices, they were black. Looks like they hadn't swept the oven in a while. My fiancé and I come here every now and then when we're craving GOOD QUALITY pasta and our favorite night to come is on Tuesday's for their pasta specials ($10 plates with a side salad and garlic knots). I've waited to visit a few times, to try different plates, and, honestly, I have never been disappointed. I've had the baked ziti, spaghetti carbonara, bucatini amatriciana, spaghetti and meatballs, and tonight I tried the rigatoni bolognese (so far this one is my FAVORITE!). Each time we go, the hostess, is so warm and welcoming, the waiters are great, and the overall experience is just amazing! We decided to try Apizza to celebrate my mom and dad's wedding anniversary. We arrived before 6:30pm on a Saturday and was able to sit within 5 minutes after we arrived. The ambience of the restaurant is industrial and modern, and very cozy. The tables are linen-less; both booths and tables are available. There is also a small bar area in which you can grab a drink or dinner at. The menu features both Brooklyn and New York style pizza, salads, soups, calzone, entrees and Italian desserts. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was friendly and pleasant. Now, I would have given this restaurant a 5, however, we ordered a pizza to share as an appetizer and they forgot the toppings. They ended up bringing out the salami and arugula as a side dish. It was a little strange. I felt they should have either made us a new pizza or taken it off the bill. They did neither. It gets better... My husband ordered Chicken Parmigiana as his entree and accidentally got Eggplant Parmigiana. I couldn't believe there were two mistakes in one sitting! Long story short the server just grabbed the wrong entree from the window so he got his correct meal within minutes, however, whomever ordered the Eggplant obviously had to wait for a new entree to be cooked. You know you're off to a good start when the first thing you do is to take a sip from your complementary glass of wine as you wait for your table to be ready. I have to admit that the wait was a little crazy, about an hour, on a Thursday at 8:30pm. Actually, by the time they sat us down the restaurant was technically closed, but they told us that they were still going to serve us because we had been waiting for so long. The food was nothing short of amazing and the portions were huge.. you can buy one plate and share it with a friend (they will split the plate in the kitchen for you). The penne vodka pasta was so yummy and if you're smart you will save your garlic rolls for the end in dip them in the leftover sauce. For dessert, the owner sent us a gigantic calzone.. it fed 8 people. It was seriously big and filled with at least half a jar of Nutella. The entire staff was very sweet and attentive. I've been holding out for a while, but it's time to update my review. This restaurant is not what it was years ago. Idk if it's because they opened another location, and it's not the small delicious Italian restaurant it used to be, but it is just not the same anymore. It's a shame. Dine in or take out, no difference. First off- the Food just isn't good anymore, mediocre. They legit run out of food. We got pick up the other day. They said our food was ready... 20 minutes later and we were still waiting. We had to ask for them to tell us they ran out of salad. We were like ok but what are you going to do? Our hot food is now cold. We left without our salad just to get going. I can't even complain about the staff, everyone is nice except the manager (since the owner isn't around much anymore). We arrived a little before 6:30pm on a Saturday and although there were 2 tables open, we were told the wait would be 20-25 mins for a party of 2. - The plus side is they offered a complimentary glass of wine while we waited. - The downside is that there really wasn't anywhere to drink this wine except in the 4.5'x4.5' entrance in front of the hostess and where other diners entered the restaurant. A little awkward and cramped. We ordered: - calamari and zucchini appetizer $10: pretty good! Well seasoned and breaded. Plenty of sauce and the breading didn't separate from the calamari when dipping. Recommend! - meat luva pizza 18" pizza (10 slices) for $23 (12" is $17, 6 slices): the waitress kept describing the crust as "crunchy." That really didn't sound like an appealing term to describe pizza crust. I much rather prefer soft or crispy, and I guess it was on the crispy/crunchy side. It was a thin crust pizza and surprisingly not soggy with all the meats piled on top. Can't say I really liked the pizza though, especially for the price. - baked ziti $16: cheesy as usual. I enjoyed the dish, but was overall disappointed with their pasta menu, or rather the lack of protein. 75% of the pasta dishes were noodles only. I do like a little chicken with my fettuccine Alfredo, and there was no option to add meat for an additional price. Bummer. They don't take reservations and since the minimum table size seats 4 people, that's how a party of 3 that walked in after us and was able to be seated before us. Kind of lame. I feel if they had 2 person tables, they'd be able to get people in and out faster by combining and separating the tables as needed. But what do I know; I don't own a restaurant. Very kid friendly; saw lots of families with kids younger than 10 yo. Don't know if I'd want to dine here on an intimate date night as it was kind of loud. But maybe it was just the night I went. Server was nice and friendly. This place is located at the end of a plaza, so just keep driving. Overall, not too impressed with the menu. I've never being at this place before but due to the great Yelp's reviews and the "opportunistic" location I have it a shot. The place is small, I think making reservation will be a good idea, we wait around 10 minutes ti be sit. The atmosphere is nice, as well as the decor. The wine menu isn't great while they have 2 or 3 good wines and a few others which I classify as "acceptable" but for most people they may be real good. They do have wine decanter which is a plus but the glasses are very small, thankfully I kind of knew it and brought my own glasses (as well as my own wine) and they charged $20 corked fee which is reasonable. Going to the food, the appetizer was great, the bread was great, and we ordered 2 filet Mignon with risotto... within minutes the server came back saying they only had 1 filet mignon available.... so I let my friend having it and I switched to the Ossobuco. While the Ossobuco was good, the risotto was way below average. Ohhh, almost forgot, I didn't like the house salad either... anyways, I would have giving this place a lower rating if it wasn't for the incredible and friendly services of everyone in there. Button line is, if you want pasta or pizza with average wine or a beer this place will deliver nicely.
