Regional products that are essential to a restaurant's environmental footprint and support a healthy local economy are heavily stressed. The pizza itself is actually huge for the pie. Very hot evenly crisped. The aromas of the sauce and cheese create a perfect spicy and savory mix to make for a ' pure' Apizza. I've had a lot of other dishes too, and they're all good. Less busy but packed places are one of the staples of the major cities, and being successful in this way is proof of the quality of food and service in Syracuse. read more

This place is overrated by far. The parking is atrocious and the building is a damn Hobbit hole. The wait staff is rude as hell and the cooks were not wearing gloves and saw one jackass put his hands down his pants. Delicious woodfired Neopolitan-style pizzas with creative toppings. They are always accommodating of the changes that I've requested, based on my food allergies. It can take a bit to get your table, but service has always been timely and they keep things moving (without rushing you) once you are seated. Every time I eat here I have a new dish, and I'm never disappointed. Today we stopped for lunch and ordered the Terra e Sole and Autunno lunch-size pizzas, and each came with a small of minestrone soup. Everything was out of this world! The crust reminds me of our family trip to Italy-soft and chewy, with an amazing flavor from high quality wheat and the brick oven. The flavors in each dish were complex and nuanced; a real treat for someone who loves to try new food combinations. We lamented getting the smaller sized pizzas but then decided to treat ourselves to the homemade chocolate hazelnut creme with almond brittle and olive oil cake with apple butter. There's a strong emphasis on local ingredients, which is important to the environmental footprint of a restaurant and the support of a healthy local economy. As for the pizza, it is tremendous. Typical Napoli style, thin crust, crisped in a very hot even. The flavors of the sauce and cheese on the 'simple' Apizza create a perfect blend of spicy and savory. I've had a variety of the specials as well, and they never disappoint. Multiple sizes of wine glasses are available, allowing you to sample more of the wine list if you choose. I really wish more places would do this. As for the cocktails, they are some of the best and most creative in Syracuse. The two main bartenders are extremely passionate and invested in their work. When they're set free to experiment, beautiful drinks are the result. I often go just to try one of their new creations, despite that it can be quite crowded some nights. Smaller places that are busy and packed are a staple of bigger cities, and being successful in that mode in Syracuse is a testament to the quality of the food and service. Lastly, Paulie is a wonderful manager and owner and is present just about every time I go. He always recognizes the regulars and thanks them for their business. Went for a late dinner. Had to wait an hour for a table but the food was definitely worth it. We sat outside on their patio and it was so esthetically pleasing on such a beautiful night. I ordered the Utica Nod and it was the perfect combination of flavor and spiciness. The hostess and bartender had great customer service and made us feel very welcomed. Our waitress Destinee was so sweet and was accommodating to all our needs. The manager came by to ask how the meal was which is always good to see. Definitely coming back! read more

This is easily the BEST vegan pizza I've had to date. This is the first time I've ordered pizza and I didn't feel like it was an afterthought just to have a vegan option the menu. It was very well thought out. The cheese is INCREDIBLE. It's not the normal processed package cheese most places have. The service was really great! Our waiter was quick and very friendly. At the end of our meal, we got to speak with the owner. He was extremely kind and friendly. While eating, I did notice he stopped to every table to make sure everyone enjoyed their meal. UPDATED REVIEW: As promised, I decided to give Apizza one more chance. I ordered the Rucolo, which came with a choice of soup (homemade minestrone) or salad. Since my pizza already came with a "salad" on top (arugula), I opted for the soup. Excellent! Flavorful but not salty. The pizza was very good. I recommend them (for lunch, for now!) and will try them for dinner in the future. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've been coming to Syracuse for over a year for work but never got around to going downtown for a great wood-fire pizza. I had looked on Yelp and found several 4+ star reviewed pizzerias. I chose Apizza because it had great reviews. What a disappointment. I'm giving it 3 stars because the service was great and so was the flavor of the pizza. However, the supposed-to-be thin and crispy crust was soft and soggy. Such a shame. To top it off, my wine was clearly from the bottom of the bottle and I ended my meal with a nice taste of sediment. Yuck. I'm guessing this is not the norm but it was a disappointment. I would still recommend it and hope this is an aberration. The service was great. The server (Mona) was great. The manager even came over to apologize. I doubt I'll be back but maybe. Minestroni was wonderful, and on this cold and windy day it was medicine to the bones! Meatball was wonderful. It had a nice crisp exterior that just made it even better! My pizza was the Utica nod! It too was a treat to the taste buds. I'm a huge fan of garlic and this was done so anyone could appreciate it! I'm sorry, again for the lack of pictures! Empty plates are attractive. A couple years ago I was on the terrace of my villa late in the afternoon in picturesque Positano located on the Almafi coast in Italy having an authentic Italian pizza party. Going to apizza here in Syracuse and having a nice glass of wine and their wood fired pizza brings me back to that amazing place and time. Great place for dinner! Ordered the meatballs for appetizer I must admit they were nothing short of amazing. They were crispy on the outside with mozzarella cheese in the middle. For the pizza I ordered the Rucolo, amazing the prosciutto and the arugula with the oil vinaigrette was simply delicious. My friend ordered the meatball pizza and it was also delicious. The meatballs were very well seasoned and had an ever so slightly kick to them. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was because their bar was very limited. They didn't have the first 3 alcohols I asked for so I settled for Sailor Jerry's (who even drinks this honestly). But I would definitely go back if I'm ever back in Syracuse. read more

Great food and service! I went to Apizza Regionale for my husband's birthday party and about 10 friends. We couldn't have had a better experience. Knowing the restaurant doesn't take reservation we showed up about 30 minutes early to schedule a table, and the staff was very helpful moving things around to get us to fit. **Fun Fact** Tuesday and Wednesdays the restaurant has $20 bottles of wine. For the food, we had the meatballs for an appetizer, which were so juice and flavorful; however, I wish they were. little bit bigger in portion size. They really are meant for one and not for sharing. The pizza on the other hand was outstanding. The Utica is so delicious and robust with flavor that it's like a party in your mouth. read more
