Doing business with CJ is pretty cut clean, black and white and very direct and succinct. I really appreciate that especially because a lot of our communications were either over the phone text messaging or some minimal emails. While the weather in early spring did not cooperate we finally got the work done, and all three of my stoops look fantastic. In June 2020, I contracted with Apollo Concrete to repair my porch. In less than 2 years, it's already starting to chip and peel (March 2022). I reached out to let them know and CJ offered to come take a look. After reviewing my steps, he suggested that perhaps either I caused the issue by placing salt or some other de-icer on my porch which caused the flaking. (I did not); or perhaps the concrete on the porch was in such bad shape to start with, this was bound to happen. Our conversation was starting to get heated and CJ said that my porch was in horrible shape when they came to do the repair. I said that was the whole reason I wanted the porch repaired to start with. If it was fine, then there would be no need for the fix. Duh. But more to the point, I'm not in the concrete business so I relied on the recommendation of the "expert". If there was the potential that the solution offered wouldn't fix the problem (because the concrete was in such "bad" shape), he should not have taken my money to start with. So, I was presented with two options. Either totally rebuild my porch or, do the same thing over (but paying more this time due to price increases). Just sharing my experience. I won't go so far as to say not to use Apollo Concrete but I strongly say to be sure to ask about work guarantees. (Should do this anyway with any contractor. Lesson learned for me.) read more

I reached out to CJ for an estimate to get some stairs leading to my exterior basement door repaired. They were old, crooked, cracked, and ready to break someone's back. He gave me a fair quote in late winter, and he was very patient with me while I worked on paying for other projects. Once I was ready in late spring we picked back up the conversation, they came out, and fixed my stairs within two days. CJ is friendly, responsive, and does great work. read more

CJ repaired a crumbling basement retaining wall for our condo. It was a hard to reach space with no drive-up access. This was a relatively small job and we went through many companies who all refused the job when they saw it. CJ/Apollo cheerfully agreed to do it and scheduled us for a few months out, after some major jobs he had booked. He promptly called us when he said he would and got the job done in the time-frame he had promised. His communication throughout this process was thorough and prompt. His crew was quiet and professional and the work turned out beautifully (see before and after photos attached). To top this off, we had an insurance inspection while CJ was doing the work and the insurer insisted that we install handrails on a stairway unrelated to CJ's work area. This guy is really special, so special that schedules, contracts, timelines, your time on earth etc. mean nothing to him. So what if you have tenants to keep in the loop or other contractors to line up? He does what he wants when he wants and if you want to know when your job you will get done then you're just being nasty. Agreed in June to schedule work for first week of October because he was so busy. Kept pushing back and pushing back until I asked for a confirmed date because I need to get the work done before the winter. He got really vicious with me and said he doesn't work work with " people like me". People like me ? You mean people who just want a confirmation that the job they are paying good money for will get done? Because of this guy I am going to have to live with concrete steps that are in bad shape for another winter and probably have to tear them down completely instead of getting them fixed so his BS cost me not just time but also lots of money. Seems very nice at first but he will BS you and BS you until it's too late and you will have to shell out big time to fix big problems that could have been fixed when they were small problems if they had been tended to in a timely manner. read more

Before I start, I want to clarify that Apollo did not end up doing work for me. However, it is for this reason that I want to write a review. In an era of online consumerism and being able to find dozens of contractors with only a couple of clicks, Apollo Construction seems to have forgotten an incredibly key piece of doing business: high quality customer service. While I could never get anyone to answer my phone calls, I was able to get someone to eventually return my call so I could make arrangements multiple days in advance for them to come inspect my front steps for potential repair or replacement. I was given a four hour window (9-1) of when he could stop by for this 5 minute inspection and formal estimate. I didn't know I was dealing with Comcast, but okay, I obliged and cancelled multiple commitments in order to be home for Apollo because I need these steps fixed. Time ticked by hour after hour, and he never showed up. I called at 1 to check on his status - no answer. I called at 1:30 - no answer. I called at 2 - no answer - I left a frustrated voicemail and gave up. I finally received a return call from him just after 4pm. No apology. No acknowledgement that he blew me off. No explanation at all. He explained he was looking at my steps from Google Maps and began asking questions about them. It became painfully obvious that he was not even looking at the right house. I think he could sense my frustration, so he offered to come out two days later. He once again tried to offer a four hour window, and even seemed non-committal to it. I was more direct and explained that it was hard to commit to this myself because clearing four hour chunks of my schedule and having him not show was very frustrating. I was honest, but I remained calm and respectful. He interrupted me, said he must not be my guy, and hung up on me. He must be fantastic with concrete if he can behave this way with customers. Set up an appointment for an estimate...no show, no call....it's been about 3 weeks, still no word/ follow-up. Bummer!

I requested a rate quote and CJ called to discuss. He was super helpful over the phone to begin with and came out to quote that week, in the evening because of my not so flexible work schedule. He was very detailed and enthusiastic in person and offered a great quote. I got another lower quote but really wanted to use CJ so he was willing to match. He even offered to deliver the rest of my building materials as a bonus. Him and his team were out almost daily for the next few weeks and went above and beyond on my project. A few weeks later there was a small concrete issue after removing some old insulation and he came out and fixed it the next day. Would definitely recommend giving CJ a call! read more

These guys just finished replacing a walkway along our building. I worked directly with the owner CJ (not a dispatcher or sales person). CJ returned my original inquiry within an hour and was out the next morning to give me an estimate. The number was fair so I agreed to move forward. He showed up on the exact day we discussed, knocked out the project, hassle-free. He cleaned area afterwards and even added a brace to the wrought iron gate at the end of the walkway to aid in alignment. Again, no hassle. I don't usually write reviews, these guys are pros. I called Apollo to get a quote thinking that my crumbling concrete steps needed to be replaced. CJ was able to offer a more expedient and cost effective solution. Before even scheduling an appointment to come out and quote the job he looked my house up on Google Maps and offered a ballpark estimate on both the work I requested (tear out and replace) and on the other possibility he brought up (repair and overlay). Based on his ballpark estimate I was able to arrange to have him come out and give a firm detailed quote on the job. CJ was very forthcoming about the details, materials, pricing, and scheduling. Instead of quoting a more expensive course of action I thought I needed, he used his expertise to suggest and quote a solution that cost much less and took care of what I needed. His sales pitch was about as low pressure as they come and his pricing was reasonable. They scheduled the work as soon as possible. Not happy with the work they did. Sidewalk not level with existing patio and I now have to walk up to the sidewalk. Concrete residue left on my existing patio and expansion was sloppy that he later had to patch up. Was not expecting to pay good money for patch ups. He decided not to dig so that sidewalk would be level with everything else. Does not make sense to me. read more

We hired this company for concrete. The job was suppose to take only about a week but it took 4 months to finish. The owner of the company kept calling to tell us their busy and counldn't continue and finish want they had started. Mid way through the project he kept on asking for more and more money. We had a contract signed and agreed by both parties. We would never recommend this company to anyone unless you want a big headache. read more
