We absolutely love attending Apollo. The coaches are great and really push you to excel. 3 of my kiddos are here and 2 on team. The gym space itself is very large and offers a variety of options for equipment to give the most students an opportunity to practice simultaneously. Other gyms we have attended in the past are small and our girls spent less time practicing and more time standing around waiting for a turn. . read more

The facility is ok for recreational classes, even though sometimes the coaches are very young girls, without any experience. But the gym has very poor management, it only cares about the money and not about the gymnasts and their families. It recently closed one of the best gymnastics boys programs of the state of Virginia, several kids are State champions, without giving any reason to the coaches and boys families. Our daughter was part of the Super Stars class for the 2018-2019 school year. Being her first experience with gymnastics, I should have considered enrolling her in a less intense program. It's very clear that Apollo is more competitive in nature and perhaps not the best fit for beginners. The coach originally assigned to our daughter's class was there inconsistently for several weeks and eventually took a leave of absence, with different coaches subbing until they finally secured a new coach. The communication regarding these changes was spotty at best. I think our biggest concern with this business is in regards to the lack of communication from the staff and coaches. We received one report the entire year. One. Obviously we could watch (parent viewing area is a whole other issue) and gauge how she was doing in relation to the rest of the class but for a family who is new to the sport, we had no idea what skills she was working on and what the expectations were. I don't question that they are good at what they do, particularly at the competitive level, but I would definitely consider what your goals are for your child as well as their personality/needs before attending classes at Apollo. I'd say 2.5 stars if allowed. read more

This is the most aggressively run gym in the area. They charge too much. The coaches are great but management is horrible. They charge a lot of tuition above market rates in the area by comparison. The customer desk is not very friendly and mostly incompetent. The best way to describe how this gym runs its operations is aggressive business practices. 1. It means that gym management and especially gym owner uses their/her position of power to limit your freedom of choice such as forcing you to enter into 9 month agreement for team members. I don't know of any other gym that does that. 2. Using threatening or abusive language or behavior. When I questioned the prices we paid for uniform which cost $325 including taxes for shorts, pants, warmup jacket and pants. The price we paid for these items were 45%-50% higher than standard prices listed on retailers website because the gym places custom orders. When I stated that the prices are too high and excessive, the response I got was "Please don't think you are going to tell me how to run my gym. It is not you choice in what is ordered. It is what it is. End of conversation!" The worst customer service. Stay away from this gym. read more

My son and daughter attend and I have been impressed. I like that the children are not constantly praised and that the staff works and treats all of the children in their group equally. They also promote independence and professional direction. read more

We did tiny tots last year for a few months and it left much to be desired because it was repetitive, literally the same little obstacle course every time. The instructor was inconsistent in the skills taught, some children were supported in advancing skills and the other children would be asked to repeat what they already knew. She was really nice to my daughter though, we did a make up class once and my three year old asked not to go back to that instructor. Now we are in Hot Shots and when registering I asked for a recommendation on an instructor based on my daughters personality and we could not be happier. My daughter has taken a couple of falls, emotional mornings, and she is patient and reassuring which is exactly what 4 year olds need. She continued to learn new skills during different circuits. We are thrilled we gave it another go! The upper seating has some broken chairs which is unfortunate but I love being able to watch her, get there early though! read more

My daughter has been in the tiny tot class for 6 months and I feel like they do the same things over and over. I'm not really impressed with what she has learned. I've tried to move her up to the next level but the teacher hasn't called me back because I guess she needs to approve. My other problem is with make up classes... they can only make up 1 class a year. I think that stinks bc my daughter has been sick numerous times. Also, they cancelled class because of weather and I can't get a makeup but still have to pay for it! I don't agree with that. read more

Our experience with Apollo gymnastics gas been subpar at best. My daughter had an appointment scheduled for an evaluation. We show up to the gym for the evaluation and it was closed. We got no notification and it took the coach almost a week to call us back to reschedule. My daughter was so disappointed as she was very excited to try out. Her first practice she enjoyed but I thought the coaches were a little to rough with the girls. By the end of the 3rd practice she was not enjoying it anymore so I let her sit out for 3 classes while we looked at other gyms. During this time we did not get one phone call as to why she had not shown up for 3 classes. This is unacceptable to me. When I called to dis enroll her I was never asked why. It seems like Apollo gymnastics is only concerned with numbers and not the individual. Highly disappointing! read more

LOVE this gymnastics studio. The staff here is wonderful! There are a lot of classes that run at the same time so you shouldn't have an issue getting into one. Despite that there is a lot going on at once in there, it is so large and well coordinated that there don't ever seem to be issues with space. I think the price of membership is great, especially when compared to other gymnastics studios. I like the parent's viewing deck because you can see the entire floor. The gym is always clean as are the bathrooms. My girls loved coming here! read more

This place has changed a lot in two years. The place is still very clean but the classes are jammed on the weekends and in the evenings. There's no room for parents to watch. While the class staff still seems friendly, the coaches (?) for the team kids seem to be always yelling or looking angry. Because of what she's seen during class, my little one has asked why the coaches act so mean to the older girls and if you have to lose weight to do gymnastics. My daughter has been taking rec classes here for years. I've made multiple complaints about how classes are structured (lots of standing in line) with little changes observed. With not many other options close by, we stuck it out. I finally decided to remove her from this gym after her coach used humiliation to "motivate" her and the manager spun lies and excuses to "fix" it. If you're looking for a rec class, take your money elsewhere. read more

The gym is REALLY dirty. Our daughter picked up two nasty infections there from unclean equipment and mats - one was some kind of fungus, the other - molluscum contagiosum. Google up and learn about this stuff more before you ever consider taking your child to this "gym". The staff is extremely unprofessional and rude. We saw only two decent instructors there (a guy from Latin America who works with boys and only one young lady who coaches girls - and she was ready to leave the gym soon, too). The rest of the staff has no business to even be around the kids. read more

My son loves Apollo, especially all of the coaches and staff. Apollo Gymnastics has the best equipment of all the gyms in the area. The Staff is always helpful and will go out of their way to help a customer when they come in. The coaches are always helpful when a child is having problems, they will show them the correct way to perform the movement they are trying to learn. read more

The classes for the older kids look decent but my daughters toddler class was terrible. After 8 classes we have not yet the same teacher over any consecutive weeks. The classes are complete chaos with no planned activities. One coach even said she was shit down by management for having scheduled activities. The staff at the front desk are very rude constantly yelling at parents to stay out of the gym area and even yelled at me for relieving my pregnant wife. We have canceled our classes here but being charged an extra month because we did not cancel soon enough. We are not too concerned about this because my credit card company has already agreed to block the reoccurring debit. STAY AWAY read more

Agree with another reviewer that they are much more concerned with numbers than the athletes. I when to sign up my 5 year old who was so excited after bringing her into the gym the owner realized the class was canceled so of course a melt down occurred. My child was heartbroken and woman was not happy with the melt down. The space is beautiful and the instructors seem to really know their stuff but for a first impression I am very disappointed. read more

My daughter has been going to Apollo for almost 2 years now. She started off in a recreational program & now competes for team. She is only 6, but I have seen such a positive change in her body awareness & self esteem.These are habits that set you up for life. The coaches are supportive & loving to her. True the gym does get crowded, especially on weeknights, but that's only because Apollo has such an excellent reputation, & a lot of kids go there. Do not have birthday party there. Room and staff cannot accommodate a party larger than ten people to include kids. The two high schoolers did not do a good job of helping throughout the party. Not enough variety in their activities and really the kids were all over the place. I had to jump in and give direction. EXTREMELY disappointed. Two parties are scheduled back to back without giving time to cleanup and set up. The kids had fun because they jumped all over the place but was embarrassed with the parents due to size of room.
