I grew up dancing myself, both of my daughters danced throughout their childhood, and now I have…read morethe joy of watching my granddaughters dance. With so many years spent around dance studios, I can honestly say I have never experienced one that felt so unprofessional, unwelcoming, and disorganized. Classes regularly started late, and there were three different teachers for the same class in a single season, which created no consistency for the children. The atmosphere also felt very cliquish, with teachers and staff mainly interacting with the regular competition families while newer and recreational families felt overlooked. The studio lobby and restrooms were often not clean, and overall communication and organization were poor. During parent observation times, the studio allowed people without children in the class to come in, making it difficult for actual parents and family members to comfortably enjoy watching their child dance. What disappointed me most was the obvious favoritism. The office staff often came across as rude and impatient, especially toward younger children. One example that stood out was a 2-year-old being rushed and treated impatiently while trying to choose a piece of candy, while another child connected to a competition family was freely given candy without needing to earn tickets like the other students. It created the impression that children were treated differently depending on how much money their family spent at the studio. Children notice these things, and families do too. Sadly, almost all of the children who started in the class at the beginning of the season ended up leaving. We were hoping for a positive, welcoming dance experience, but unfortunately that was not what we found.

Tall good kids are in the front and short is in the back. DO NOT COME HERE. My daughter is currently a YouTuber, and has MUCH better technique at "Polaris dance Institute" AND she was a student 2 years ago, went to another studio "The dance spot" the same thing happened. Kids are mean, teachers only care about the kids who HAVE a future in dance and have been with them for a long time. I understand in dance there are "Clicks" and all, but teachers should NOT be apart of them. Please, I encourage you, if you would like to put your child in dance, DO NOT COME HERE! May I recommend Polaris dance Institute. You can find their Instagram and Facebook by just looking up at the name. PLEASE IN GODS NAME DO NOT JOIN THIS HORRIFIC STUDIO!

This was my daughter's first year dancing with Amyclae. She danced for a different company last year and the year before in Chesterfield so we definitely have something to compare it to. I guess you could say the weekly classes were acceptable however for a 45min/once a week dance class... they sure did take a lot of breaks. Sometimes their class would end early. Anyway, back to the recital.. I have no words. My daughter's class performed for 1min 22 sec (yes, I used my stopwatch the entire time and I have screenshots) out of a 2hr recital. By far the shortest performance of the evening. Also, their music was chopped up and distorted. There were about 4-5 other groups who also had very short performances however most (there were 41 routines) were over 2min 30sec and others were over 3min long! The toddlers who had no clear routine (although they were very cute) had close to 3min of stage time. These girls were robbed. I feel robbed. I spent hundreds on this recital just for my my daughter to have a botched show. The song they danced to in it's original format was only 2min 28sec long so there was no reason for their music to be shortened at all. If time was an issue, some of the other groups who had over 3min should have been shortened to make it more equal or maybe the staff shouldn't have done a performance. I'm sorry but paying families should come before the staff at a recital. That's just good customer service. We had family travel in from out of town and they were all shocked by the quality. If convenience is what you're looking for, it's perfect however if you want to get your money's worth seek out a different company.

My…read moredaughter danced here for two years and two summers before we had to move and I'm dreading having to find another studio since SDC set the bar so high. Some things I love: *Miss Karen will take kids as young as 2 and doesn't require them to be potty trained. She believes that nobody is too young or too old to dance. *Wide range of classes available including an adaptive dance class specifically for those with special needs. *The focus is on fun, not on competition (though they do have a fabulous competition teams for those who want to compete). You won't ever hear any of the instructors yelling or scolding the dancers for their performance. Everybody is there to have fun while learning to dance. *Appropriateness. All dancers are required to either change clothes in the studio or wear a cover while going between car and studio. All costumes are age appropriate and proper undergarments are required. You won't see any teen strip teases or three year old little girls gyrating all over the stage at recital. Miss Karen really teaches her dancers how to respect themselves and entertain with their talent, not by showing off a ton of skin. *Cost. I suppose this one may be subjective, but I personally felt that the price of classes was extremely reasonable. My daughter took two classes and we were able to afford it without issue. I honestly don't think that there is anything that I DON'T love about this studio!
