Right before the first scheduled service, he asked me to go out and purchase 12 bags of salt myself, which made no sense given that supplying materials was part of what we agreed he would handle. When I pushed back, he instead sent a $300 invoice for the salt with no details--no brand, no weight per bag, nothing to verify what was being purchased. When I asked for basic transparency, he became defensive and repeatedly interrupted me. He also tried to justify not providing any details by saying he's a "licensed contractor" and doesn't need to share that information, which frankly made no sense. Being a contractor doesn't eliminate the need for clear communication and itemization, especially when you're asking a customer to pay for materials. We ultimately decided to part ways before service even started. If this is how issues are handled upfront, it didn't give us confidence in how things would be handled long-term. I would recommend getting very clear, detailed expectations in writing before moving forward.

Anyway, our current service provider is super nice but not great at returning phone calls or requests for service. We have been trying for almost 2 months to resolve not being able to connect the control panel to the app, and not getting the heater on. I have texted and called so many pool service providers and can't believe how difficult it is to get a technician to come repair the equipment. Its mind blowing. Added to that the fact that the first three "Hayward Authorized" technicians on their website do not return phone calls or text messages. Long and short of it is George came out, super enthusiastic, VERY knowledgeable and a wonderful communicator. He clearly explained what the issue was and fixed it in less than 10 minutes. He had the app connecting to the control panel and the heater was coming on. It was SO simple for him to determine the issues because he is incredibly knowledgeable. Also, he gave me a great education on the system and I understand it better as well. I was so impressed I see no need to continue service with our current provider as it is nowhere near the level of customer service BPS has provided us already. Monthly service rates are super competitive. It is great that we can get weekly maintenance AND repair from the same company. They have it all and are clearly experts in the field. To state that I "refused a startup" is completely inaccurate and misleading. At no point did I refuse anything essential to the process. Instead of working to resolve the issues professionally, the company repeatedly resorted to finger-pointing, raising their voice, and making accusations rather than reaching out to find a workable solution. I had to personally invest time and money into an acid wash to address problems like surface roughness and discoloration--issues that should have been handled properly by the company in the first place. Additionally, I take serious offense to being called a liar. The tile work was done through this company, despite their attempt to distance themselves from it after the fact. For them to publicly discredit me and misrepresent the facts is not only unprofessional but also incredibly disrespectful. Some vendors out there play on people's ignorance to their expertise and take advantage of their clients. This was not the case with KC Pools. I had an issue with a pool heater/pump. I was able to send them a quick video clip of the display just to expedite the diagnosis. They pretty much knew from the video what the issue would be and was able to give me an approximate range on what the repair would cost. I totally appreciate that for the sake of saving time. I was told what the high side would be and what the low side would be and what to expect with each choice. When he ended up getting onsite the problem wouldn't duplicate itself, so he checked it out and pressed on. The next day there was an issue after all and he came back out repaired what need to be repaired on the low side. Bottom-line the impression that I got from KC Pools is that they are fair and honest. They take care of business and move on to the next.

I called Kevin after reading the reviews on here. He had me text him pictures of the heater before hand so he could be prepared with the parts for our specific unit. He didn't try to sell us on anything and in fact told us, if we could fix our heater, it was worth keeping and not replacing. He quoted us $450 after explaining what we needed. Much less than the thousands we thought it would be. After seeing the heater in person, he was able to fix it for $300. (Talk about honest!!) And he also fixed our timer for a discounted price along with rehanging our switch box which was coming off the wall, just to help us out. And one final thing...he came on time - which is never heard of with people coming to fix things. Kevin is the best, you can't go wrong. I wish everyone we had to come fix things at our place was the quality of service we got with this company.
