10/1/24 The 5 star rating is from my own experience. I went to Appelblom Jewelry to get my wedding ring repaired. On my wedding day, my new brother in law had dropped my ring but I didn't notice that one of the diamonds on the side was missing. Beforehand, I went to Shane Co but they were going to charge me $415. Appelblom priced me at $220; definitely was a no brainer who to go to. That same day, I dropped off my ring and the really nice lady who helped me estimated it would take about 2 weeks because they had to send it out somewhere for repairs. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the notification that my ring was ready for pick up only 3 days later. On the day my ring was ready for pickup, I asked my husband to pick up since he was working from home that day. And to note, I did ask the lady who helped me if my husband could do the pick up and she said yes. This was my husband's experience when he went to pick up the ring: When he got there, there was only a guy who was really rude to him. My husband gave him my name and this guy kept telling my husband that he was lying and didn't know of any orders with my name. I'm not sure how long my husband spent trying to convince the guy that he was thereto pick up my ring, but eventually this rude person went to the back and asked if there was a ring pick up under Pauline. Whoever was in the back found my ring and gave it to the rude guy. The rude guy must have realized he was wrong because he then claimed to my husband he didn't hear the name correctly. Local amazingly friendly and trustworthy shop that provides fantastic service and quality. Long story, but my original ring maker completely screwed up a ring resize, doing a rush tap job breaking it and horribly resoldering it to try to fix it, creating a line and unevenness. My wife told me to come here since she had been using them to help with ring resizes during and after pregnancy. Emma was so kind -- she took the ring in and had it refinished / fixed as a courtesy, bringing it back to new. Appelblom continues to be our favorite jeweler. My now husband and I went back to work with Felicia and Atif get our wedding bands. I chose between 2 different designs and Atif had molds made for both to fit my engagement ring perfectly so I would be able to see on hand which I preferred. This was super helpful because we ended up adding a few diamonds to have perfect alignment. I thought I had a preference for one band but once it was stretched out to fit my ring better I liked the other option better. My husband picked a comfort wedding band and enjoyed the many options of texture and weight he could choose from. I also purchased a thin rose gold comfort band to wear every day at work when wearing hospital gloves. I later worked with Yas to get a matching rose gold bracelet to complete my wedding look. The original bracelet I like could not be made in rose gold in time and she worked with me to find other available designs that could be made in time for the wedding day. All i can say is wow, this is a business I plan to return to for future jewelry purchases. My fiance and I got both our engagement and wedding bands here, both experiences were phenomenal. From the knowledge base, to the customer service, I can't recommend them enough. July 2023 - For my engagement ring, we worked with Emma, who helped us source my center stone. We initially picked out 3 contenders, which were delivered to the store. We were able to find the right setting for my selected stone! Now, this is my first piece of truly custom jewelry, so Emma's knowledge and ability to keep us looped in on the process was amazing. Fast forward to December 2024. we had just finished brunch at Foreigner and decided to walk down to Appelblom on a whim to see what they had in stock for wedding bands. We worked with Atif on these. He recommended a comfort band for my fiance, which he ultimately went with. He was able to recommend wedding bands that fit my engagement ring well, and helped us through the selection. Turns out, we found bands that frame my engagement ring just right, it was meant to be! As long as you purchase jewelry from them, the first resize is free and any subsequent cleaning is also free. Although I don't shop there exclusively for engagement rings and such, they have a growing inventory of vintage/antique/estate jewelry. Pricing is a little bit on the higher end, however the staff members are kind and are a little more flexible than the price tag itself. I called Applebaum to find out if they could polish it for me parentheses yes) and then I asked about the cost. They said "just come on in, and we'll do it for free". We consider that a service for the community. I explained that I had purchased the jewelry elsewhere and was not previously a customer. They said, "no matter, just come on in and we'll take care of it for you". When I came in, I was welcomed, and I met Atif. He claimed half my jewelry on the spot while explaining to me how to take care of silver. Some of my items required more work, which he held for me to come back later once he had cleaned it all. I came across the shop after eating at a restaurant just a few doors down on a Wednesday afternoon. Ducking into the shop to take a peek, I fell in love with a watermelon tourmaline ring set in an east-west in 14k yellow gold. Atif helped me with checkout and was patiently answered any questions about the materials & sourcing of the tourmaline. I also returned to the shop a few weeks later to resize my engagement ring. After measuring my fingers and looking at my hand, Zariah and Emma ended up recommending sizing beads for the band instead of sizing down since my knuckles were larger & the beads would keep the ring from turning because of the larger center stone. I got my resized ring back after 8 days and ended up loving the modifications. I have a class ring from college that had lost some gold inlay on the surface of the stone. Luckily I managed to save one of the gold pieces and brought it in to Appelblom with the ring to see if it could be repaired. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They passed it along to a goldsmith they work with in Burlingame, who was able to reinsert the gold piece into the stone surface. While some of the other gold inlay that had gone completely missing couldn't be replaced, they were kind enough to return the ring with the single piece repaired at no charge to me - a really nice surprise. I'm very grateful to Appelblom and team for helping reassemble my ring as best they could, promptly and (very) affordably! I will definitely be back for any future jewelry repair needs. read more

I needed a ring resized and noticed Appelblom while I was dining in San Mateo. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I waited a bit since there was someone being helped and saw they have a very nice selection of jewelry. Once it was my turn they quickly took a look at my ring and measured my finger for the new size. Appelblom goes above and beyond when it comes to getting the ring of your dreams. The shop itself is quite intimate and serene. Great customer service and wide variety selection. Definitely come here if you are interested in antique/vintage styles. I came to them with a poorly made setting with mismatched sapphires, and walked out with a masterful custom-made engagement ring. Atif and Fiona guided me throughout the whole process. They were extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and I loved that they tuned into the finer details and listened to what I wanted. We drew a design from scratch, compiled reference photos, and ordered a number of pear-shaped sapphire pairs in various shades and sizes to try on. From there, we created a couple of wax-molds until I found THE one. They were extremely accommodating to my creative urges and pivots during this stage, and they reassured me that the ring was going to be beautiful. It took roughly a month to complete, but it was a labor of love worth all the time, effort, and money. The end product is phenomenal - just look at the photos! As you can see, their jeweler is absolutely talented to do this all by hand, and they have from me my biggest compliments! My jeweler died and his successor retired - so I needed a new jeweler to maintain my platinum wedding bands - recirculatize them (lol - platinum is malleable - get it caught on something and it is less than circular) and polish them. Appleblom came highly recommended through a local FB group. I brought my three rings in for polish and for the 10 year ring to have the middle diamond recentered. I was quoted $190. Turnaround was quick - 4 days - great, becasue after 26 years and 16 years, I feel weird without them. The rings were polished beautifully, and once again perfectly circular. However, the 10 year ring did not have the center diamond centered. I asked if they forgot or if there was a reason why they did not do the repair. The woman, while very nice, did not have an answer for me. She guessed that because it was a pressure setting, they didn't want to do anything to it - perhaps since they hadn't designed it? She suggested I get the ring redesigned/remade. She didn't call the people she had sent it out to, she simply guessed as to why they didn't center it. This lack of communication was very disappointing to me. My previous jeweler always polished and recircularized my rings while I waited, and did it for free - an adjustment to the diamond, though it was only necessary once before, was also free - certainly becasue they were worked on at the place they were designed. I didn't expect the work for free at Appelblom, but I did expect it to be performed. I'm still on the lookout for a new jeweler. What a disappointment. read more
