I purchased y first iPhone through T-Mobile. That was a huge mistake. Apple makes the device, and has retail stores to purchase from. My first Mac was an M2 MacBook Pro 15". I walked in, specced the system, and bought it. The gentleman that was helping me was thrown off, and not the best example of my experience with this by-appointment preferred store. But then, I was a walk-in, and don't really talk to people. He helped, I left with my computer. A few days later, I bought through Apple Store, set an appointment, and bought my Apple Watch 8. I still use it, I'm still happy with it. I'm also still happy with the physical Apple Store. They helped me with the watch, new bands, and integrating all of my devices. When it came down the pipe that Apple would be blocking access to blood oxygen on new devices, I got ash ultra . Again, I love the product. I got it at Best Buy, though. Because they were the only guaranteed O2 functioning watch carrying retailer. 2 years later, the watch called 911 when I was in a serious motorcycle accident. The watch died. The face and crystal shattered. I landed kinda on my watch, kinda on my helmet, mostly on the armor... The O2 ban was in strong effect, which could have been the end for me. With a terminal lung disease, that watch is my "should I put my oxygen on " lifeline. I explained my situation to the person who helped me. They empathized (without apologizing... seriously, if you know someone that's dying, don't apologize unless you are the reason!) She explained the situation to me, I understood: probably no functioning O2, for the foreseeable future. Watch got back early. Their no fix policy on broken watch faces had me a little sad. I charged it on the ride home, put it on, and absently checked my O2. This store, and Apple, went the extra mile to find a visible replacement, a pre ban manufactured ultra 2. My oxygen was at 94. THAT. The extra for a customer whose life would have been severely affected, and whose lifetime income generation CANNOT exceed 9,000, because of simple known life expectancy. That is the above and beyond that landed 5 solid stars, a lifetime brand loyal customer, and a recommendation from a person who spent 25 years in the infotech, infosec, and cybersecurity sectors. read more

My phone is loosing its charge. Went to Verizon. Ended up at Apple. Yes, they tested and tested. I must be using a bad cube and or cord. Nope. Have all Apple products all kinds of cord and cubes. Two hours later it is still loosing its charge very quickly. Would it have killed them to change out the battery or give me a new phone. Oh, the Verizon store told me I owe over500.00 for this phone. This store could do much better with a queue so customers who come in the door aren't helped ahead of customers who have been waiting. Two people came in after me and were immediately helped while I stood around waiting for someone to notice I had been standing there. They did not notice so I decided to leave and opted to speak to a manager. I had to wait 10 mins to get someone's attention to even make that request. As soon as I mentioned I wanted to speak with a manager, there were 3 people very available to help. During this time, they had all been standing around in a cluster talking. I spoke with a manager. I had to ask her name (Tamara) since she didn't offer it. She listened to my concerns and was understanding, but not apologetic and didn't ask if she could help me or if she could get someone to help me. She explained their open help concept and said she would work on training, then allowed me to walk out the door to give my business to a competitor. read more

Cheerfully went in looking for a watch, first insult was the security guy telling me to move away from the door cause there were other people trying to get in, second disappointment was the assistant that took me to the watches showed me the iPad and pointed to the watches. When I had questions she had moved on to help someone else. I don't think they get commission but I do know they lack people skills and don't know about customer service. Giving a 3 as better than last time but all I had to do was pickup a phone I ordered online. First young guy couldn't figure it out. I purposely looked for a female. Mia (I think her name ) saved the day and got the phone. Yeah. I have found over the many years I have had apple products that the stores are inconsistent and as this is it for here, you get what you get. Just remember what a person wears, what they drive, and how old they are is no indication of how much they ie I can spend. I had a GREAT experience yesterday with the process of trading in my 2 yr. old iPhone for a new 16e. Initially, I went online, made myself familiar with the latest models of iPhone; then spoke with a wonderful Call Center person (Marlana) who spent at least 45 minutes with me going over everything I needed to know about iPhone 16 as well as the iPhone 17 soon to be released. I felt completely satisfied with my decision to buy the 16e which was accomplished easily over the phone. She made an appointment for me to go to the Albuquerque Uptown Apple Store later the same day to pick up my new phone - transfer data, etc. At the store, I was immediately assisted by Jude, a very kind, knowledgeable sales person who had been made aware that I was coming into the store to pick-up my new phone (Call Center electronically transmitted all the information regarding the sale). The upgrade had lots of new features. Jude was so patient, so helpful - he spent an hour+ explaining the new features, transferring data from my old phone, updating my Apple Watch etc. Most importantly, he took the time to "Show Me" the many new features and made sure I was comfortable. He stayed beyond closing time without a hint of impatience. All in all, it was THE BEST EXPERIENCE I have had at the Uptown Store over the past 17 years that I've shopped there. Ok store. Didn't really like the fact I had to buy new AirPods, since mine failed a test that I couldn't see conducted, think Apple is just trying to make money. I only had one bad AirPod, but this supposedly test called out both of mine failed. On another note, if you already have an Apple product , why do you got to pay full price for the same product if it fails 3 days after the warranty expires. It is recommended to have and appointment. I got here about 10 minutes early and within 5 minutes after my appointment they assisted me. They noted that my headphones have a known issue and is covered by Apple. So I was glad about that. They took care of everything. Apple online service and in-store both bad. Elderly Mom Locked out of account Called tech support - they rebooted system, but could not regain backup, and phone did not work. Tech says 'you have no iphone backups'. Hung up in frustration, called again, same issue. Now 2.5 hrs later and tech says , "You need to connect to a Mac". We dont have a MAC. Tech says "I can't help you further". Go to Apple store (what if I lived 500 mi from one?). Drove half hr. Connected to Mac, still cant install icloud backup. Finally, after 1.5 hrs the tech accesses backup, It existed all along. Now why shouldn't we switch back to Android rather than dealing with 5-6 hrs of this nonsense? Why couldn't the support happen over the phone in 2 mins, rather than 2.5 hrs before tech even says I need to connect to a mac? Even further, why (why) would Apple ever make it necessary for an iphone user to connect to a mac? read more

I bought a new Mac mini on 11/14/24 and the computer was defective out of the box. I dealt with apple support, before leaving town for a week and a half for work. I got home and sat down at the Mac mini, which I thought may be fine after updates only to have the same problem again. I scheduled to take it in at 12:20pm on 12/2/24. I got there and they gave me the runaround saying they could send it in for diagnostics/repair...an item defective out of the box. Then they said they could refund it and I could rebuy one...but I could not just swap out. I traded in a device to buy it, and was told the original purchase price would go back to the Apple Card and then I would rebuy, paying from the Apple Card and it would be a wash. I finally agreed, and then 4 hours later I find out Apple issued me a gift card for the trade in, and now I have to pay full price for the new machine. I now have a gift card that I don't need, and a higher credit card balance because these idiots are inept. I hate this store and the employees all act like they're special because they wear a red shirt with an apple on it. Give me a break. read more

I've had apple phones for longer than I'd like to remember and have always had a decent experience when there were issues. My latest experience at this store is giving me pause going forward. My I12 was acting up, would not connect to any app. The first genius emphatically said that the phone was done, that a new phone was in order. After a brief discussion I decided to come back on a Monday morning when the place wouldn't be so busy. When I arrived on Monday a different genius waited on me and we went through issues at hand. He gave it a hard reboot and it fired up and worked perfectly and has been for the last 2 months. Moral of the story, first, the term genius is way over used and then get a second or third opinion until you are completely satisfied with the decision to get a new phone. Staff is friendly. I got what I needed. They may need to clarify for themselves the specs and capabilities of some products.... First, they are not accepting walk-ins right now, despite what the website says. You can walk in and browse, but you cannot buy or receive service. So I had attempted a first-thing-in-the-morning walk-in and was basically turned away. Or rather, they helped me make an appointment for the next day and then I had to leave. I was in the area on vacation and suddenly my iPad was not holding a charge. The Internet told me that the old boy was all but dead. And it was pushing probably 8 years old....a pretty decently long life for a tablet! I knew exactly what I wanted to replace it with. The first two people to help me that day let me play around with some other accessories, which was fun but I wasn't going to buy that day. They both touted the facial recognition unlocking capabilities of the new iPad....except turns out that the one I got DOES NOT have that. I got a decent trade in offer for my old iPad. And then I went home to complete the set up. The good news is that I opted to buy 2 years of Apple Care because all I had that afternoon were problems getting the new device set up. After 2 hours on the phone and troubleshooting virtually with customer support, they advised me to go back in store and do a factory reboot. Thankfully, I was able to get a same-day genius bar appointment. We eventually got everything figured out, I just had to drive all over Albuquerque several times over several days to do so. read more

I absolutely hate this store. I have owned 3 Iphones, 2 Ipads, and probably more Apple products than 95% of the general public. Currently I am typing this on my Mac Pro and own 2 MacBook Pros. One of my Mac Book Pros is pretty beat up (the previous owner dropped it) and I noticed that a few of the small screws from the outer case are missing from the bottom. I walked into the store after driving around unsuccessfully to a couple of other stores. I asked a few associates if I could purchase this screw. They absolutely refused to sell one because it might "void my warranty". I told the employee that it was out of warranty (it's a 2010 Mac Book Pro) and they still shut me down. There were 3 employees lined up near the door. No one greeted me, No one showed me where the watch display was nor got me started on examining the product. I was there for at least 30 minutes. Still no one moved in my direction or asked if I needed any help. I did have some questions. I'm pretty sure that I would have bought a Series 9 had anyone been interested in helping me. This store is in ABQ Uptown! This is the first store I checked out first! Of course it's an Apple Store. So it's spacious and clean and loaded with all my favorites! What makes this a store worth going back to are the staff. Very warm and friendly. Considering the store is not as crazy as in the Bay Area but still- they're busy in the ABQ way :) which would be sleepy for the Bay Area type or Cali in general! I recall when the Apple Store first opened in Uptown. Trendy, up-beat and very professional! Knowledgeable representative strives would come to you immediately and ask what you needed or wanted to look at. Well, today was not what I remembered. Having waited 10 minutes for a representative to come over and ask what we needed, (wanting to buy a new phone)we were advised there would be a rep with us in 10-15 minutes. After 20 minutes, and those that came in after us being seen before us, I went and asked another rep for help. That rep assured us we would be seen right away. Another 20 minutes and I asked to speak to a manager. The manager apologized and said there would be Reps coming back from lunch by 2pm. It was 1:45pm. So we went back to wait and then decided to leave where we could get the same price phone at our phone service location. All in all, it was discouraging to find yourself in an MVD like store where employees don't give two cents about customers service and service others that came in after seemingly because of either gender or age. I showed up at 9 AM (the time they opened) without an appointment and a crowd of 15 or so people there already ahead of me. I was checked in a minute or two later, and saw a tech in less than five minutes. While my phone couldn't get fixed (hardware issue, and it was old enough to not be worth repairing), the tech was wonderful and helpful, and did try to make it work. When it didn't, the salesperson helped me get a new one (no pressure to buy the latest model) and I had it set up and running before I left the store. In and out on a Saturday morning with no appointment in well under an hour. Can't complain about that! read more

2/27. My recent experience here was pretty bad. The repairs department seems to run in a pretty unprofessional manner. I made an appointment in advance to have my phone repaired. They kept me waiting well past my appointment time. They proceeded to look over my phone. They then tell me they don't have time to do the scheduled repairs. No problem, right? I could just leave my phone and return whenever to pick it up. Well, no. They say that I can't leave my phone and I can return the next morning to drop it off. Why exactly did I make an appointment? 2/28. Well, my return trip was about as expected. I attempted to replace the damaged phone as I have Apple Care coverage. The employee informed me that they did not replace phones covered by Apple Care and I had to contact Apple Care directly. At least the employee this day was nice. When I got home I contacted Apple Care and that rep was kind enough to offer an appointment at the Apple Store so I could get my replacement. When I told him I just got home from their store and they refused to do the replacement, the phone rep apologized and told me they were supposed to offer replacements at the Apple Stores. My iphone was frozen so I made the trip to Abq from Valencia county. I expected to wait as I was unable to make an appointment. Josh greeted me, helped me get started right away and got me on the waitlist. I had other things to do so it was no big deal. When I returned for my appointment I was helped by Evan who was really determined to fix my issue. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to restore my frozen phone!! Then Owen found me to let me know my sister had called the shop to see how my repair was going. Everyone was friendly, attentive and welcomed my little dogs!
