Gregg Mike and Mark was awesome and helped me figure out what to do with my current phone an Iphone 8 Plus. They 1st showed me how to do many things I appreciated that. They showed me how to get more memory for my ICloud account then they showed me how to back up my phone. It wasn't backed up since Summer of 2018. . They told me it would take awhile to back up my phone. It literally took a whole day. They also diagnosed it and my charge port was shot and battery was less than 78% so they ordered a replacement Iphone 8Plus since they didn't have one in stock. It came in quick like 5 days. Will go pick it up tomorrow. Unfortunately it will cost $399 without warranty but I like the 8plus & its not $1199. Thanks guys. read more

Five stars for the Genius Bar at the Apple Store at Ala Moana. I have a first generation 2006 Macbook and a 2010 Macbook Pro. I've been to the Genius Bar for both computers. My most recent experience was for my Macbook Pro. A CD got stuck inside and after googling "CD stuck in Macbook Pro" and reading some of the suggestions (e.g., "put a credit card inside the slot") , I decided to go to the Genius Bar. I made an appointment online and waited about a minute before someone called my name when I had checked in. I forgot the name of the girl who helped me, but in two minutes she ejected the CD. For anyone wondering, you have to hold down the trackpad when the computer is starting up. If you are shopping for a product, I could see how it might be stressful. The store is always packed with people testing the products and checking facebook. I would probably stop by on a weekday when it might be less busy if you want to purchase something. I really love my Apple computers and I'm glad Apple has excellent customer service, much better than Dell's customer service. read more

Here on vacation, I didn't want to miss out on my weekly lesson (52 lessons in 52 weeks). The store didn't have an Apple banner waving proudly out in front. I found it easily anyway. Wish I could have just as easily found my movies that were accidently deleted from my laptop during this lesson. The instructor started out with a bang, he was teaching me about my trashcan. I could move the trash into a dumpster? Whoosh, suddenly all my movies were gone in a click. Thankfully, one of my other instructors back @ the Beverly Center store, had me save my videotapes. Another one in the Santa Monica store suggested wisely that I purchase an external hard drive & back them up. What a close one. Lesson to all, have multiple back ups! I came to the Apple Store to get a $29 battery replacement for my Iphone 6s Plus. If you don't know about the out of warranty offer to replace the battery google it. I made my appointment a week ago for 10:15 AM. I can say that every worker that I came in contact with was nice, cordial, polite and most of all patient. I arrived early and Stewart assisted me. Before that 2 other workers had me set up at one of the tables. I wish I had their names because they were very helpful as well. Stewart took my phone and said 2 hours. He ran some diagnostics, checked the sound and for damage. I signed away my phone and I left. I came back in 2 hours and i was told that the battery replacement did not work. My phone did not turn back on and sync up with my carrier (Sprint). They had a refurb phone (unless its new and I dont know) as a replacement. But then at that point I had to call Sprint on my own. They gave me a wireless phone and I was on the phone with Sprint to get this replacement phone activated. It took awhile. Plus the Apple Store is noisy. But the workers checked up on me from time to time and after about 90 minutes I got a replacement phone all updated and everything was restored from my iCloud backup. Apple Store is a crazy place. Not only do the workers need to be knowledgeable on their product but they need to be patient and have empathy. I saw that today. You have people with locked icloud accounts, home buttons not working, phones and macbooks randomly shutting down and they can test the workers patience. I saw a good sampling today. I saw one worker assist someone I could tell was not as technologically literate. All of the workers kept their composure and assisted as best they could. Needless to say I was impressed. One thing when you go to the Apple Store is know what you are getting yourself into. If you go midday--expect busy. Go first thing in the morning. Make your appointments in the morning. Back up your stuff. Don't go in with a chip on your shoulder. Be patient. Don't get mad at the workers because you don't have your icloud or itunes password. Show them some respect and you will get helpful customer service. I saw that today. All in all, i got my battery replaced, a new/refurb phone and I left the place a satisfied customer. read more

Totally retarded store. Came in to have my watch repaired which is clearly not working properly. Stood about ten minutes at the "genius" bar or whatever they call it. Staff looked at me but apparently nobody felt the need to approach and ask of they can help. Everybody seemed to be either busy chatting with colleague or dodging work. I made my move and presented my issue. Response was to schedule "an appointment", like I'm at a clinic and the staff are medical doctors too busy to patients right away. They insisted they needed a technician to verify that the product isn't working properly. lol? The appointment is for in eight days. I have an ipad 2 my hubby got for me couple years ago. My son loves to go in just to play games and try new apps. Great to kill time in there...one hour at a time! We have all together a ipad 2, mini ipad, itouch, iPhone 4S. Like that the iCloud you can have all your media on all of the devices. I would like to thank the amazing staff at Apple Ala Moana Center. I needed to have them take a look at my laptop. I was able to get a Genius Bar appointment same day. Mike helped me- He was so friendly, knowledgeable, very thorough, and went out of his way to assess the issue. He explained things respectfully to me and answered tons of questions I had. This Mac is my connection to the world, my hopeful future career, and I'm just very attached to it. I had to drop it off and leave it there- they were extremely careful with it. May called and gave me an update with issues they'd found and gave me an incredible deal on the fix. Then he asked me if that was OK... SO very kind!!! I just think the world of these people. When my husband went to pick it up he said everyone was wonderful to him, too. I'm happy to report my MacBook is working as good as new- I'm writing this review from it . Although I am not a fan of apple and more of an Android person, we came here because we needed to have a couple of iPads and iPhones worked on. Especially the battery swap out, because evidently now Apple has identified some issues and they're providing reasonable swap outs for batteries for their equipment. But I have to admit, it's a pretty cool environment to be in as everybody's just in there having a good time doing their own little techie thing, minding their own business. The people that work there are just like swarming all over the place, however or some reason, they keep that place as cold as a meat locker. Also, I'm not sure if the mass of folks in there are customers or just hanging out, but there's always a big crowd in there and there's always people taking a look at the latest and greatest stuff that apple is offering. The guys that helped us were very very good at what they were doing and very very personable and they made sure that they didn't waste our time. I literally have been having the absolute worst time returning, just returning a product. I have been calling and being ping ponged all over the USA with phone calls trying to get in contact just to make and appointment with this apple store, since they are not allowing people in which I understand. But I have been on hold for hours over the last three days, hung up on over a dozen times. This is a flat out miserable experience. I love apple products but the service is god awful. Its like they are literally trying to force me into keeping a product that I do not want when I'm well within the return period. I use Apple products but I don't plan on buying from this location as I feel this location racially profiles people. Even after purchasing an accessory from my phone and receiving an email receipt, I browse the store a little more and then slowly walk out, then get abruptly get confronted by a salesperson quickly trying to block my way out the door and rudely asks if I purchased the item in my hand. I showed him my receipt with irritation. Very embarrassing as he approached me like I was a thief. I get that there has been a lot of theft but do not treat everyone like they are stealing. I had the item clearly visible in my hand and walked out normally. I left very embarrassed but probably at this point not shocked by the situation and based on experience I know I was racially profiled. Would have gave 1 star, but there was nice girl whom I asked about how to scan the code on my phone and how to purchase which she saw me do it. So, either give me a bag after purchase or state on the sign to show a receipt so there are no issues. Retrain your employees about customer service because all I saw was fear and confrontation. This apple store is one of the busier locations so keep that in mind if you need to service your equipment and/or are short on time. I've had mixed experiences here between great-poor customer service. This surprised me because Apple usually trains their employees to a certain standard which is evident in other locations on island and others in the mainland US. I recently bought a screen protector for my iPhone and the service was great as the person used a piece of equipment that applied the protector for him. My previous visit to this location included an employee with obvious disinterest and annoyance when I asked him questions on the quality and performance of the new generation laptops. Some items are a lot cheaper if you search amazon as well so keep that in mind if you are able to wait for a particular product. read more

The Apple store is an amazing place to go. Today I upgraded my iPhone. Apple products are really high quality, even though they can be kind of expensive. Another thing that I love about the Apple Store is that they will buy the old phones back, melt down the metal, and use it to create new phones. They recycle the metal! With appointment, they also can fix some phones, like if the battery is dead, or if the SIM card is scratched. It is a really good store that I highly recommend! read more

In any case, came in with my friend cause she wanted to get a plain black case and a screen protector. After standing in front of the WALL of cases, I found a "stealth" case for her. Cool! You can stick your cc inside the case and it has a super protection so that card readers cannot rip off your card. and you can't see the card THROUGH the case so that's good too. Well, not mention it was black, just what my friend wanted. We met a nice guy named Jason who rang her up and then put on the protector. He was very thorough even re-doing the protector when an air bubble got stuck in it. Super. He also answered questions that I had about my future i-something. I think I love this store. It's busy, friendly, fun! and just a great place to come for all your i-everything needs. It is always a harrowing even for your computer to break. Suffice it to say I have learned my lesson and I will 1) not place so much value in material things 2) always back up my computer And 3) use google drive more! I got a last minute appointment at the Genius Bar here and was greeted. I wouldn't say "warmly" but it was 7 pm and I think everyone was over computer problems for the day- including me. I was initially pretty upset because my computer died as a result of the new install not installing correctly. In my opinion, there needs to be more of a warning about doing the install on a fast network. I told the staff at the Apple store as much. Looking back, the workers at the Genius Bar may not have been the best audience for my displeasure.... They did work on my computer with humility and patiently explained each tool or cord they connected to it while I nervously watched and asked questions. Where can you charge your iPhone and no one will bother you or kick you out? Go to ANY Apple Store! As I charged my phone, I watched as the customers came in and were helped. One thing for sure, someone is always watching to see if you need help and they do check on you. I was approached and explained I needed a charge and was shown to the iPhones, the display taken out and my phone placed in the charger! I checked out the new iPhone 7 while I was waiting and noticed how fast customers were assisted. If you are an "Apple person" there is an Apple vibe that you come to understand (how to navigate Genius bar, appointments, etc) and expect ( there are various levels of personnel and they will help you). I told him that my phone was stolen and it was locked so the person who stole it was was not able to use it. It was stolen when I left it unattended while working out. So he checked my account and disabled any service to my phone . Upon showing them the article in the Washington Post, the manager informed us that "all sorts of things are on the internet - and if you'd just checked apples web site you'd KNOW it only applied to iPhone 6 and newer." I was somewhat skeptical about bringing my dead iMac to this location based on some previous reviews. However, we were very satisfied. Made the genius bar reservation via iPad; arrived and was served on time by Jonathan. He ran some diagnostics that turned out favorable. By this time his shift was ending so he transitioned me to Ross who continued on and ran more diagnostics. Determination was made that the OS had issues and needed to be reloaded. Had to purchase a cheap 1TB hard drive, Apple backed up our data overnight/the following morning, reloaded the OS, and had the machine ready for us about 22 hours after drop off. No charge for the work other than the hard drive purchase. The only reason I'm not rating five stars is their crappy phone menu/service. Very difficult to get through to the store; then once we did we were given vague info as to status of the machine until we spoke to Ross personally who confirmed what was being done and when the machine would be ready to pick up. read more

Workers are so incredibly inefficient and lack basic training. I came in to purchase an iPad. Worker tells me I need to make an appointment to purchase one. So I make one half an hour out. I come back, only to be told they didn't have any stock. A waste of my time. On another occasion, I came in to get my phone back screen replaced, which is $99 with my apple care. Scheduling an appointment online, only to be told that there wasn't any appointment under my name, email, etc. Then explained the issue to the employee and my reason for needing their help to then be advised that they can't help me. Explained to the employee that I was instructed by their customer support that they have the device in EVERY store to help me but he was adamant that there nothing they could do. Lo and behold, went to a different apple store & was able to get the service I needed with no hesitation. I did the unthinkable and cracked my iPhone screen. DOH! I was going to just use my poor broken phone until I got a new iPhone but decided to get it fixed while my iPhone was still under warranty, just in case there was something else wrong. I booked an appointment through my phone for a repair. They checked me in and told me it would be 90 minutes to replace my screen for $150 and gave me a ticket. I had the most amazing pink razor phone for $49 when I was in college and I thought it was all I would ever need in this world. I came into this Apple store two different days. I had an appointment Friday 545 drove from Pearl city to ala Moana just for them to tell me they wouldn't touch the phone at all unless I could provide my Apple ID password. I tried three different passwords that I use and all of them said that was incorrect when I was using their Mac to login. Only to find out when I came home and I try it out the password it worked. None of that makes any sense right. The Apple "genius" my appointment was with Friday told me that most likely they will be able to fix the screen for free since we have Apple care, so long as there's no water damage or modifications. So now that I have my password in hand I tried again to schedule an appointment I spent a whole hour on the phone with Apple support because I wasn't able to schedule it through the website since my phone screen was not working correctly and I can't respond to confirmation texts sent to it. Saturday had a new appointment 3:35. I was on time with a few minutes to spare. I wasn't greeted with the next "genius" til 3:55. The "genius" messes around with the phone tries a couple things out 10 minutes later concludes that yes the screen is in fact not working (thanks I had no idea) tells me they will work on replacing the screen it would be about 5:15 when it's done. I asked if I could leave them my friends' phone number that I was with since there would be no way of getting in contact with me and they said "sorry we don't do that you'll just have to come back in in an hour." Come back at 5:15 to see if my phone is done check in with one of the Apple people there. They told me "have a seat someone will be right with you." ANOTHER HALF AN HOUR GOES BY. With the hundreds of employees walking in and out of that back room nobody hands me my phone. I go up to that employee entrance because I'm sick and tired of sitting around waiting nobody's acknowledging me, and I ask the next person who comes out "yo, I came back at 5:15 when you guys told me my phone should be done it's now 5:50 going on 6 where is my phone?" Sorry ma'am We will get your phone right out for you wait here. Dude I am so freaking irritated and tired of waiting here right now. In the end they brought my phone out the exact same as it was before- but wait! They made it worse because they had factory reset the phone and now I could not get past the set up screen. They knew what they were doing. What does factory resetting the phone have to do with replacing the screen? They knew they weren't going to fix the phone and they knew if they reset it that would mean I'm locked out of the phone completely, not able to use anything but receive phone calls. It was all a trap into making me either upgrade or buy a replacement phone for $100. Jokes on them though I did not take the replacement phone, I went to TCA wireless and got the phone fixed for $30 less than what they would've charged me to have a "replacement" which means the exact same phone I would've had if I got mine fixed. Refurbished. That's the word. The last thing the Apple store told me is that if I chose to take the replacement phone I could come back and they would hold it for 7 days since I did not take the replacement I told them I would need to think about it. So guess what Apple store I thought about it and you can take that replacement phone and shove it up where the sun don't shine. This concludes my journey in Trying to go through Apple to get my phone fixed and I'll tell you what after this horrible experience I never want to buy a single Apple product ever again. Their delivery or pickup options are great, especially with COVID-19 pandemic right now- it took off a lot of worries by giving the option of delivery (Free if Standard; $8 Next Day delivery, $9 Same Day delivery of ordered before 10AM).
