Went in to buy a new iPhone and was basically told "do you have an appointment? you can't just walk in and buy one. You need a reservation." Do you want to at least check whether you have what I want before turning me away? The fact that you cannot walk in to an Apple Store to buy a phone is ridiculous. And then be talked down to. I was not happy when I picked up my Gen4 stainless steel Apple watch after a week in service and was told that a battery replacement is not possible because it is too old. I only use the watch for time and to find my iPhone, so wasn't really in the market for an upgrade. However, with a little bit of convincing could have probably been talked into a new watch and left happy as a clam. Unfortunately, David couldn't handle a cranky old(er) woman and told me that the watch is obsolete, that I shouldn't have expected a simple battery change for a 6 year old watch is still possible, and I shouldn't buy any tech gadgets if I am unwilling to upgrade. read more

I am a Galaxy girl to the core, but my DNAs (kids) are on the iPhone wave. My daughters phone broke and needed to be fixed she initially took it to Boylston and they needed idk what to fix it so I went in with her to Cambridge. We didn't have an appointment but they made us one, told us wait 30 mins but it was much shorter than that. The young lady that took us in was such a delight. Everyone in that store is so happy, they must be feeding them something in the back. The phone was fixed in the time frame they gave me and they found an issue with the face scan and replaced her phone. They were really good about anything. read more

Apparently the only way to "learn" and be educated on the any one of the many HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS product's you bought for yourself or a technically-inclined love one is to sign up for and attend a "class" in store for it. You cant just walk in and ask to spend time with an employee and be educated. So we took the class. A few things : 1. Use the big screen that was at our table instead of breaking/contorting your body to spin around and show/demonstrate said product for customers. 2. These classes run 30 minutes long. It was me and another old person in the group. Our class took 60 minutes due to the pace/questions. HOW ARE THESE CLASSES ONLY 30 MINUTES?! Allegedly they get as big as 5 people per class. You think 30 minutes is enough to educate FIVE f******** people that all might be older/technically inclined?!?! YOU COULD SPEND 60 minutes on ONE person alone! 3. A "manager" ran our class we attended, and rushed out on us after an hour, granted the class was originally 30 minutes -- pass us off to another employee if "60 minutes is all you have time for today" How Apple doesnt understand this is f******** beyond me. They quickly looked up my online order and I was able to pick up my order after like a five minute wait. I like the fact that this Apple Store is inside CambridgeSide Galleria so after going here I like to pop into CVS next door or get a coffee at Starbucks a few doors down. read more

The Genius Bar has no genius advice or anything. The battery life on my phone is utter garbage so I listened to them first to reset my phone. I did that and my battery life still sucks. I had an appointment with the Genius Bar so I went and again I had to reset my phone to the factory settings. All of my information has been uploaded on iCloud. The guy at the Genius Bar told me that my notes will return to my phone. That was a complete lie. I lost all of my passwords and log ins. He told me to manually install all the apps that I lost. I am so upset that I lost so much valuable information. I'd recommend that you'd be better off fixing your phone by yourself or someone who knows how to operate an iPhone. read more

Good news my small-eared friends, extra small ear tips fit old 1st generation AirPods. Tried to leave this review on the Apple website but it won't let me. Don't spend another $300 just to be able to put xtra small silicone tips on. Contrary to what Apple states on its website and to all the employees who tried their best not to sell these to me saying they're not compatible with my device, the xtra small tips do click onto the old 1st gen Airpod Pros. The employees spent a lot of effort trying to convince me not to buy them. Did anyone even try doing this??!! The tips themselves are $8. Get them and see for yourself. Happy listening. read more

Absolutely terrible service and a HUGE waste of my time. After three visits to my mobile provider failed to fix the issues with my iPhone (for 4 months since purchase), I ended up with an appointment here for assistance. First, I had an appointment and still waited. (There were a lot of staff so no idea why.) The issue was finally diagnosed and I had to leave the phone there for 3 hours for repair/rebuild. Upon return, I waited again for someone to bring me the phone and was then told that they broke something else and I was getting a new phone free-of-charge. Great... except I expected a 5-minute pickup with my kid in tow and was there for more than 2 hours. The old phone was no longer functional to transfer for setup of the new one and no one seemed to know how to connect to my carrier. They literally ignored me while I tried to do it myself, gave up because I needed to feed my kid and left without a functioning phone. Truly the worst experience and I will never go there for anything again. read more

I picked up a new phone today with the plan to trade-in my existing phone. it was busy in the store with the new phone drop, and the employee assisting me advised me that I could call the 1-800 number and get my trade-in kit and mail my existing phone back once the new one is set up. Upon arriving home and placing that phone call, I have now been made aware that this is not possible and i need to make my way back to the store within the "turn in window" that is "usually 14 days". Unclear on if the 14 day window starts upon date of purchase or date the new device was picked up. read more

Last night we visited Apple CambridgeSide. We waited for a few minutes for a sales rep to join us. We started asking a few questions about an Apple Watch, and the sales rep acted like we were the dumbest people in the store. Her attitude escalated, and soon enough we felt uncomfortable being in the store. We requested for a different sales rep, and the manager came to assist. The manager was understanding, but still no help. We ended up leaving the store and purchasing apple watches at Target! I recommend not going to this store and visiting any other Apple store in the area, all of the others we have had positive experiences at. read more

First I called Apple to tell them about my issue. I explained that my charging port was broken, they recommended that I go to the store because they'll be able to fix it, so they set me up w/ an appointment at this location. The guy on the phone said they fix charging ports all the time. I show up the guy looks up my phone, sees that the warranty is expired and just tells me he cant fix my phone. Are you serious? He didn't even try to investigate the problem, or look at my port. He did nothing. Such a waste of time, told me they couldn't do anything about it. Terrible customer service! They make everything the customer's problem, and don't try to help you! While still busting up there once great customer service and experience, I brought my MacBook Pro in for a much-needed ram upgrade. I was told I had to wait two or three hours to speak to a technician, rather than just leave the MacBook there until they can start working on it. Paperwork they said, even though I offered to sign all needed paperwork in exchange for being allowed to leave my machine there for them to service at their convenience. It is a stain on this companies' reputation for them to force me, the customer, to wait around and lug my 15" machine back and forth instead of leaving it there to receive their customer care. After waiting for two hours, I was told to bring my business elsewhere when they informed me that my machine was too old to work on. There are something in the store that keep me go in every time I go to the mall. Even I know most of the time, everything's still the same, I go in. I made an appointment with the Genius Bar at this location because my mac is experiencing the white screen of death. I only had to wait a few minutes past my appointment start time, which was pretty great seeing as how busy the store was. All the store clerks that I observed during my 1.5 hours there were SO friendly and helpful. (One in particular did her very best to bring the cost down for a girl who brought in her broken iPhone, and you could tell that she REALLY liked helping people.) Joanna was helping me, and we discovered that my computer is still working but the screen was shot. She helped me backup my data and then sent in the computer to be fixed (takes 7 biz days) for $280. Honestly, it's totally worth the $280, which apparently covers ANYTHING that needs to be fixed. Ultimately, the review is on the customer service, which was excellent. Also should be mentioned--the Apple store doesn't use check-out computers. No lines. Nothing. If you're working with a clerk, they scan your items and charge you right then and there--and you can get the receipt emailed. I just thought this was such an efficient way to deal with customers. Hopefully when I get my laptop back, it'll be as good as new! read more

Okay, I happen to be there the day after the iPhone X came out. Need I say more? They were busy. But, I did get to message around with the new iPhone and the service was friendly. I can imagine they stay busy with MIT so close. Good clean place and a great Cambridge location. It's clearly an anchor store at this location and the only thing I would have wanted if I was Apple was a front facing window on the outside of the mall. Walking across the street from my hotel, I stopped by the Apple store to check out the new iphone 4S. It's a very cool phone with a lot of new features, but the Siri application was having problems since it could not connect to the Internet, so I didn't get a chance to test it out. Bummer. I think that will be one major issue with Siri in that Siri has to query the internet in order to search the cloud for an answer before it gives you an answer to your question, etc. Apple products are excellent, but you do have to pay a little extra for them over competing products. Apple does an excellent job in customer service and will bend over backwards to help you. read more

This is a review about the Genius Bar. The person who was looking at my laptop didn't even look at any of the hardware of my laptop and continued to repeat that because I had spilled liquid on a section of the keyboard, it would be a flat rate of $800 for repair. This stands in contrast to other experiences I've had where IT departments are very willing to help with trying to identify the issue instead of making money for Apple. There was no emotion, no willingness to help a college student who obviously couldn't afford to pay this, and the whole time I felt as if I was treated as just a thing that Apple wanted to extract money out of instead of a human being. You'll save in headache medicine from dealing with Verizon and Dell and all those other fools. 2. You can use your product forever. I bought my MacBook in 2007 and it still runs good as new. The only thing I've done to it is upgrade the RAM (and now, for my new iphone, the OS). The RAM cost me $50, the OS upgrade to Snow Leopard was free. Had an unsatisfactory experience here. My 18 month old iPhone 7 was malfunctioning - The Genius Bar employee who helped me hastily inspected it and told me that the lightning port was slightly fried and that I needed a new phone. I was not satisfied with this so I left and did some researched online. Google termed the issues "loop disease". I made a second appointment at the Burlington store. At that point they inspected it more thoroughly and though they wouldn't acknowledge the loop disease they did say it was a hardware issue that required a new phone. I guess my point here is don't be rushed. Don't believe everything you're told. Do your research before you go to the store expecting "help." Also, he was no genius - many of the employees are inexperienced. read more

Went to upgrade my iPhone today. This was my first time going to the Apple store vs Verizon. Wow... talk about night and day difference in experience... Apple was amazing. Harry helped me-very knowledgeable. Brilliant, non-pushy staff who give a care, seek to find answers (and have them or will quickly find out) and clean, smooth easy process. Just goes to show you why places that are run like Apple, Wegman's etc thrive: they have standards and systems in place. If I had gone to Verizon m, like I have in the past, I am certain I would have had the 22yr old employee who was either clueless, disinterested or distracted by either his or her own phone and/or other customers coming in w/ questions. Worst Apple Customer Service- way to take advantage of a disabled person with a hand that doesn't work properly. One of the manager's Emma was extremely rude and overcharged me for a damaged loaner phone almost $300. I came in to have my 14 Pro Max repaired with Apple Care and even though they had one in stock (same exact phone) they had to ship my phone out for diagnostics and Hamsah gave me an old iPhone XR loaner phone. I asked to speak to a manager because I didn't want to have to buy a screen protector and a case for a loaner phone I explained to the manager that my hand was in a bad accident with 17 surgeries and I can't hold the phone so it sometimes drops which is the whole reason why I am there in the first place The manager said "I wouldn't waste your money on a screen protector and case for a few days just do your best and don't worry about it. I tried expanding this to Emma and she said she would look into it but if I wanted my 14 pro max I had to pay 300 for the damaged XR (absolutely ridiculous) and she would get back to me by Friday (5 days later) No call on Friday. I had to call Sunday and wait until Monday. Emma REFUSED to give me the name of the manager that I originally dealt with- why would the managers name be a secret if the manager didn't say that why can't I have his name. Basically, it was one Manager covering for another. I have never felt so mistreated and I have always been an iPhone customer but I am thinking about switching to Samsung if Apple thinks it's OK to take advantage of disabled customers and then refuse to give them information on the manager they dealt with in store. We went to this store to get a device fixed that was still under warranty. They got us in about 10 minutes before our scheduled appointment and the tech took one look at our device and said, "Let me get you a replacement for that". Five minutes later we were on our way. Not the biggest Apple Store we've been to but they have all the stuff you want to try and and all the stuff you want to buy. They got us in and out so quickly it only cost us 4 bucks to park! I hate coming here. I feel like the employees are condescending and talk down to me because I'm not familiar with their devices. Fact is, Ive spent some 6k this year on their hardware. Its been one mistake after another. I've had two phones replaced in the past three months and I've been sent home twice with some dumb instructions that don't help me restore my phone. When I bring my phone to someone who is knowledgeable in apple products, they are always shocked that I've been sent out of the store without a phone that doesn't have my former apps or contacts. Its just always a nightmare dealing with these people. I've complained to corporate and apparently they don't care about their customer touch points. A year ago I asked for some specifics on a special needs settings and was directed to four different condescending individuals who wanted to talk down to me. They behaved like they wrote the software. Fact is, they likely have never met the real developers of the software- let alone wrote the code. So making fun of someone who wants further help with a specific function is just mean. I can't wait for another company to come out with either a better product or a more inclusive, friendly customer service team. read more

So I went to the Apple shop in the Cambridge Galleria this afternoon with my two current Iphones ( one is a British Iphone 6 64gb) as well as my current US Iphone (a 6S 16gb) and was introduced to Tyler. He was professional, knowledgeable as well as friendly at all times. Not only was he very patient with me but showed me ways of deleting data on my current phones, deleting some of the location services which were running in order to make them run more efficiently but he spent over an hour with me discussing various options to upgrade to an Iphone 10, he explained this as he was backing up my phones and then ran the latest IOS update versions also (which he did not have to do) I cant recommend both this store and Tyler (originally from Texas) highly enough, the old ode "You never get a second chance to make a first impression" certainly springs to mind and I could have not been happier with the level of service I received today - As a result I will definitely be returning next week to purchase a new Iphone 10 from the store and Tyler Well done and keep up the great work!! :-) read more

Through some freak happenstance of icy cold weather, a sudden warming in the blast furnace that is my car, and the subsequent cracked face of my brand new iPhone 4S, I traipsed through the crystal clear doors of the everyApple hub in search of halp. I'm no Apple fanboy, and nary a tear dropped with Steve ascended to the iClouds, but I've found myself immersed in this fruity world possessing both a MacBook Pro (work) and this pretty Siri-loaded slice of bread (play). Easy to set an appointment, easy to check in and the diagnostic started on time. My Genius introduced himself and humbly entertained my theories on the mesomorphic qualities of the piece, its case and the world in general. Ultimately, Hux noted the damage to my phone was "inconsistent with mishandling" and after checking the purchase date on the DVice, said, "Well, I'm gonna swap it out." A brand new phone with only the necessary questions asked. Dig it. A level of trust, no harsh interrogation and a proper resolve in a matter of 15 minutes. Find another place that's more satisfyingly in-and-out, and I'll show you a brothel. Plain and simple, it's a great playhouse to sample the good, but with fixed pricing standard with all Apple products, you won't get any benefit buying here. What you will get is congenial service from believers, not skeptics. Oh, and after I sliced open my thumbnail bed flesh trying to get the flippin' Casemate case off the durn thing, Hux brought me a Band-Aid and an alcohol swab. Whatta guy! read more
