Buy your Apple wares online. The staff here are too busy basking in the Apple glow to to offer real answers to your questions, or provide more than cursory support in some cases. It's amazing how good they are at talking down to you, leading me to wonder if it's part of their training. On one occasion, I overheard a customer asking a basic question that the sales person answered incorrectly, and I had to intervene. I HATE being *that* guy, so fuck you, Apple Store, for making me be *that* guy. So why 3 stars? Mostly for the displays, which let you play around, near unfettered with just about everything Apple. I guess you can't just show up here to visit the "genius" bar, you need to come (or visit online) first just to reserve a time. When you come back on time, you still have to wait, because the "geniuses" have fallen behind. After spending an exorbitant amount to replace my macbook screen, I had to wait about 10 minutes to get my receipt. The service here is as bad as the applecare warranty. The pompous attitude they have and those "genius" t-shirts they wear make me wanna just throw down some of my computer science homework and see their know-it-all attitude disappear. I've been here on many occasions and always have mixed feelings about this place. I love their products, and have a mad crush on the nrrrd girls who work the "genius" bar. My problem is with the sales people who come off a bit like snake oil salesmen. Two weeks ago I went in to get a iPhone. (yah, I know I'm a commericlistic whore) and the first thing the sales person did was congradulate me, telling me how the iPhone would change my life. In fact the entire time I'm picking out my options he keeps telling how awesome it is, it ends world wars, creates free electricity, and by keeping it in my pants pocket will make my junk bigger. Only one of those turned out to be true by the way. As we're talking he asked me do I have any apps in mind. I of course replied that Yelp would be my first download, then asked if he had any recommendations. That is when he revealed that he didn't have an iPhone. WTF dude WTF He spends twenty minutes telling me how awesome my new toy is and doesn't even have one himself? That's like being a vegetarian butcher. I am a HUGE Mac fanatic but I had to post my experience this weekend. I went to the Apple store to get something got Mother's Day. The concierge was very polite. When I informed her that I wanted to apply for a Juniper Card (The Apple/iTunes Rewards Credit Card), she said I could do it at any computer terminal. She also said that she would send a Mac Specialist to assist me. That is when the trouble started. This Mac Specialist was the most rude, impatient and completely unapologetic person I have EVER been forced to work with. She asked me if I needed any help and I replied with "I don't think so." Then she disappeared faster than birthday cake at a 4 year olds birthday party. When I completed the application, I went back to the concierge to let her know I was done. This same specialist came back and SCOLDED me for using the wrong computer! Then when I replied "We'll, why didn't you advise me to use another when you first came over?" She tried to pass the blame off on someone else, saying that she thought I was already being helped. CLEARLY not if you were the first specialist I spoke to! As my girlfriend and I began to voice our frustrations to her, she WALKED AWAY and went to help someone else! I guess she thought we were not her problem. I want a t-shirt that says "I heart geniuses" that looks exactly like their black ringer ones. These guys were so patient when I brought in my damaged three-month old MacBook, explained everything in detail and referred me to an authorized fix-it shop for repairs. I hadn't even read Aretha's advice about getting pretty. I was unshowered, in galoshes and hat and despondent and they still guided me through everything. Great place to retreat from the weekend mall mayhem. The 5th star didn't get clicked only because the store is a bit small, but the layout is good and they used the space efficiently. The products are SICK. Apple's done well. I can't wait for the 2nd generation iPhone. read more

The Apple store is awesomeness. The products and the fact that you can test them all out in the store are great (I do have an irrational hatred for that damned one-button mouse though) but it's the workers bump my review up to a five. I tend to go through electronics like water, and the friendly staff has always been able to either fix my broken ipods without making me feel too sheepish, or replace them with new ones. Just yesterday, at the end of a god-awful day, I came home to find out that part of my docking station had broken off in my shuffle. Since I can't survive my commutes with music, I immediately booked an appointment at the genius bar and high-tailed it to the Galleria where one of the staff members drew out the obstruction with a super-fancy method involving a straw and super glue. I'm an Apple addict, so my score is less a reflection of the store, and more of a reflection on Apple itself. This store does tend to be busy, but so is the rest of the mall during the hours that I can go (nights and weekends). In general though, every Apple store I've been too has been clean, had a friendly staff (albeit that sometimes I know more Mac stuff than they do), and do help you in a timely manner (the handheld checkout is a huge plus in my mind). read more

Yeah, I love the Apple store at the Galleria. When I first moved to the area, I didn't bother to get internet access and would instead come here to check my email 2 to 3 times a week. When the sales people came up to ask if I need help, I said, nope, just checking my email. They were all so cool about it! So I love that it's close to me and that they have a full array of products. I just wish it wasn't as crowded as it is. But it is Apple... But the best part is I'm now typing my review at the store. Beat that! read more

I hate this store. If I go in there to look around, at least 6 employees come up to bother me and ask me if I need help. If I make an appointment to go to the genius bar, I still have to wait at least a half hour to be helped. What is the point of making an appointment (and they are really specific too, in 10 minute increments), if they 1. never see you when you are scheduled and 2. tell you if you leave that small perimeter while you wait for them you will lose your appointment? Last time I was there, the genius bar waiting area was packed. Some guy who worked in the front came over to ask the woman who 'checks people in' to help him with something. She said hey, I am really busy, and what you need to do is easy, so can you just do it yourself? He tried to make an excuse and then when a customer interrupted them and the woman's back was turned, he just ran away. What kind of customer service is that? I don't know. I just hate this place. I do love apple products though. I just choose to buy them elsewhere whenever possible so I don't have to deal with this store. read more

Its often pretty busy in here, especially because I usually come in to visit the Mac Genius station in the back. BUT if you make a reservation you can MORE THAN spend you time in H&M. Also, until the NEW Apple store opens, its really the only Apple store in Boston. Until recently I did not have a car, so everything else was out of the question. All the Mac Geniuses who have helped me here have been very supportive, one kind soul sat with me for about 20 minutes then consulted someone and came back to work on my computer for another 20 or so fixing my Mac Mail over a problem I had caused downloading another stupid program. Although I would suggest making an apointment online, you still have to wait, but it lease it makes the wait better. read more

It's too bad that Apple is so intent on selling an attitude and a personality rather than its products. Again and again, I come in with questions that don't fit their script -- not cutesy or unreasonable questions, just trying to figure out how I can do what I want to do with their products. And more often than not, I get non-answers carefully calculated to not shine any negative light on the product, the store, the company, or the "culture," for lack of a better word. Super slow service, after waiting 1hr and half, they told me they checked me in, just to wait another 20 mins to find out they forget to do so. The people at Genius Bar get distraction so fast, I told them I need to get a phone call for 2 mins, and they start to help other customer and hang me in there for 20 more mins. OK, so my warranty was 2 months past its expiration. My iPhone's screen was dimming to the point where it was virtually black, apparently due to a broken wire. The Genius bar guy reseated cables, and tried a couple of other things. He noted that my phone was in "pristine condition" (yeah, really, it was!) ... and rather than sending my phone away for necessary repairs at the hefty out-of-warranty price of $200, he gave me a brand new (same version) iPhone! So obviously I'm loving this Apple Store right now. The wide-open layout I wrote about earlier is still there, designed to facilitate demonstrations, I think. Fine. I needed to get a new protective screen film, and fortunately they did have that in stock -- so no complaints this time about not stocking basic products. Yep, as good as it gets! read more

I went in this Xmas season for a MacBook for the rugrat going to college. I was sold a few extra items- but Alexis was not a tough seller. She just wanted to cover the bases with me, all of um. She explained the educational pricing, the difference between software applications, and we had a LONG discussion about lojack. I bought the three year subscription, cause... My MacBook was stolen from me a few years ago. No bueno. Those things sell like hotcakes on the street. She said if anything was not to my liking, or the wee sister's, to bring it back by the 8th of the New Year. Low and behold I was back within two weeks to return the one-on-one training certificate. Some guy who's name tag was flipped around so I couldn't get a look at it helped me. He got somebody to ok the return, and the only hold up was I paid with cash. The store was packed with people, and as I imagine is normal, the security was doubled- that's the Christmas spirit in action! I exchanged it in the end for a shuffle- and walked away with cash in hand. Very nice. Didn't need to explain my "buyers remorse" to them in detail or anything. I'll be upfront: I'm a PC person. I have an iPhone and have had an iPod Touch in the past. I went in to see to some account issues I was experiencing with iTunes and the iCloud. I'm no expert (hence the PC person comment) but I can certainly follow the trail of bread crumbs to the Apple Support Center. Disclaimer here stating that this occurred on the Saturday following Black Friday. There were at least 15 salespeople working and many seemed to be walking around to and fro without regard to the numerous customers looking around bewildered. I found the manager and was put into the queue for assistance. Sure, that's ok. Here's the issue. It not only took roughly 20 minutes to get an associate but the help I was given pretty much led me where I would have ended up anyway: the Apple Support Center. I came in, in person, to avoid that phone call and to have a person actually looking at my phone while I explained the issue. My question here is: Why would an associate not be able to do what the Support Center can do? If they're just there to explain the functionality of Apple products rather than troubleshoot, they should definitely stop advertising that service. Don't get me wrong, the staff were pleasant despite being rather unhelpful. I asked about a case also and got no less than 3 different answers to the simple question of which cases are available for the iPhone 5c. That was strange, especially considering that you'd think it was a very simple and frequently asked question. This location is markedly smaller than the one in downtown Boston (that one is one of the largest in the world) and suffers a bit on space and selection. Overall, it wasn't a -terrible- experience going in there but it was definitely a journey of wasted effort on my part. Bottom line: If you can't help, don't advertise that you can. Dear Apple: Please extend your Support Center services to your stores. Having a Support expert on staff/shift would help immensely! read more

I wasn't too impressed by the help I got at the Genius bar, and the customer service was kind of lacking. I'm not too happy with my recent visits to the apple store. My iphone had been having a hardware issue, i knew it was hardware, but i had to jump through the scripted hoops the genius' follow before they would believe that. Two out of three trips (and at 12:20pm appointments) i had to wait at least 20 mins before my appointment. I don't really like waiting when there's a reservation system... isn't that what they are for? So, they weren't really much help the first two times, but they did give very methodical solutions, it's unfortunate the end result was me having to buy a new phone (or pay the same to replace my phone) which didn't really make much sense. So i had 2 visits in one day, and i recognized a lot of the people that were there, but only one, seemed to acknowledge that I had been there earlier in the day. Brayden (i believe his name was) was friendly, asked what i was there for, tried to think of things I could do, and seemed like he really cared. Everyone else that was working was either helping customers or walking around being 'hip' His customer service felt genuine, I wish he got to ring me up for the iphone, instead of the guy that did. The guy that rang up my phone, seemed to be descendant of a long line of used cars salesmen. Apple's one of those companies that has me by the shorthairs... so... i like there's a store close, but I'm certainly not rushing to go there. read more

Fortunately, the closest employee is helping my friend, while his 2 zillion other fake-voiced brethren are similarly distracted. The bulk of this rating is for the truly awesome experiences I've had with the tech folks here--thanks to my Apple care, I forewent the real bar for the Genius Bar when my motherboard crapped out, and enjoyed several servicings from the same slightly-patronizing until I proved my worthiness, pony-tailed Genius dude. The wait was minimal with a surprisingly small number of employees pushing product on me while I puttered around. A note bene, though. It's Sunday, the store has been open for approximately 18 minutes, and it's literally swarming. I'm a little overwhelmed. I'm off to sooth myself with an Orange Julius. read more

I'm only giving three stars because I've had some really annoying experiences here, but I'm actually writing because I had a great experience recently. Negatives: Once I was provided the wrong product, which I didn't know until I got home. Once I had a genius insult me when I asked whether I could get a brand new iPod to replace the refurbished iPod (which was having consistent problems producing sound and had a cosmetic defect) after I had paid for and purchased a NEW iPod that didn't work and that Apple admitted was defective and needed replacing (which was the only reason I I had the refurbished one anyway). This was years ago (back in the iPod mini days) and maybe he doesn't even work there anymore, but , I thought my question was a legitimate one to ask someone who was fixing my iPod. He basically told me I was stupid for caring about the cosmetic defect and that it's not his job to deal with customer complaints. I've also been given the hard sell when I just wanted to check out the new iteration of a device I already owned. Positives: I had a great experience recently, with Travis at the genuis bar, and I wanted to give him a shout out. He was very helpful, resolved my problem, engaged in some friendly chatter with me, and never once insinuated that I was an idiot. He even wiped down my dirty laptop which was totally unnecessary, but a nice touch! Next time I need to go, I will try and get him. There was also a woman who seemed to be a manager who was really helpful and did a great job of managing the line of people waiting to be seen. read more

Went here recently to buy a new laptop. I walked into the store knowing exactly what I wanted and was under a time constraint. (I only had one quarter, so I had 30 minute parking and was on the clock). I explained my situation to my sales associate, Dom. He was not only understanding but incredibly friendly and got me out of there in 8 minutes. Eight minutes. I've been to a handful of different Apple stores. To be fair, I'm almost always impressed with their client service. Cambridgeside really came through for me though and I am super grateful. I had actually been to the store a week prior to do some research before making my purchase and had someone help me that was willing to take the time to answer my questions and explain things to me even though I had made it clear I would not be purchasing a computer that day. So they really know how to adapt to customer needs here. I value that and definitely choose to go to this Apple store over the other locals ones. read more

There really isn't much more I can say about this store than that the staff rocks. I used to work near the Boylston Street store and, while that space is awesome, the staff just isn't as fun, on the whole. I've had really good customer service experiences at both locations (Apple obviously isn't going to hire mean or stupid people), but those at the Galleria just have more personality. They were helpful without "gettin' up in my grill" and not only answered all my product questions with all the expertise , but interacted with me as people, as in, I feel like I made new friends. Is that weird? It might have been the mania of the day, but seeing sypathetic faces at my "zen tech sanctuary," as I started to think of it, was wonderful. read more

I walked in at 5pm on a weekday and the place was a total zoo. The current layout of the store makes it feel cramped and old; I remember there being more open space when I visited back in 2005. Wading through the crowd of obnoxious teenagers to get to the back of the store so I could make my purchases was a bit unpleasant. The two staff members I dealt with were surprisingly friendly but answered my product question incorrectly. Here's hoping they'll take steps to make this store feel less like Chuck E. I'd like to preface this by saying that I've been to this location multiple times and had some really great customer service and have spoken with some people who have really been able to address my issues professionally and honestly. That being said, I'm completely appalled by what has happened to me. I brought my 2011 13" MacBook Pro in for a replacement battery back in December. The battery was swollen, and was no longer functioning properly - a simple fix. Four hours later I received a call saying that "something" - which was explained to likely be the battery - had leaked everywhere in my MacBook, damaging the hard drive (brand new) and motherboard. When I went in to speak to the associate helping me, I was told that in order to repair the MacBook, it would need to be sent overseas, and would cost a MINIMUM of $800. Ouch. Wanting to save on costs, I asked the associate helping me if I would be able to use the computer without a battery in it, or if it had been damaged beyond use. Her answer was a definite "No." The computer was essentially ruined. Pretty devastating, but I bucked up and bought a new iMac as I was able to get a great deal through financing, and I cannot be without a computer. Fast forward to about two weeks ago, when I decided on a whim to try plugging my MacBook in and using it sans-battery. Surprise - It worked. $2000 of credit card debt later, I feel completely disrespected and lied to. My computer, with a replacement battery that I have installed myself, works just as well as ever. As a devoted apple customer, it's hard for me to stomach that I would be blatantly misinformed about the status of my very expensive hardware in the way that I have. I will never return to this location. I don't appreciate being lied to and I especially don't appreciate it when it appears to be a gouge to get me to spend more money. read more

Today I had my second straight positive experience at this Apple store and it certainly warrants a write up. During a complete and total ice storm I walked here and although I had made an appointment I did not get a text message because that's only if you make an appointment in store, so I did not get service until 657 with them closing at 7 PM. The gentleman was incredibly patient even though I kept saying don't you need to go aren't you guys close, and he even made a joke and said hey giving you great service gets me out of cleaning. It was the best response I ever heard. He help me get the perfect laptop and the cord I would need and I left a happy customer, not a turned away customer thanks for this exceptional associate. Tall with glasses and beard...wish I knew his name. Today I had to go in to exchange the cord and pick up a couple other items and they were fast and very accommodating. It is SOOO smart for apple to have retail stores in malls! If you have an issue with your ipod, just get all dolled up and put your best damsel in distress act on and the guys at the genius bar will totally hook you up with a new ipod. Even if it's just a bit past warranty! You just have to ask nicely and give puppy dog eyes. I love being able to go in and check out the newest apple gadgets. Drool over large screen displays that I can't afford. Check my email. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. Of course they deserve only 1 star. Waited for 2.5 hours to the so called Genius Bar to get an answer saying they can't tell me what's wrong with my phone. It's just dead and can't turn on. There wasn't any signal. Why would you call yourselves genius? If you are a genius, you would be from MIT or starting your own company. Become the next Steve Jobs. The check in people misspells your name and won't tell you where to go next to get assistance. All they said was someone will be with you shortly. How and who would they know who I am? Whoever manages these stores need to come up with something easier and new. Don't try to be high class because it doesn't appear that way. I felt like I walk into an octagon to watch UFC fighters or cavemen roaming around aimlessly not doing anything. Then they make you wait 2.5 hours for nothing. All they did was to rush me out and try to charge me $250 on a renewal phone. Please get a life! I went to my carrier which they don't even fix phones but only to sell. All they did was charge my phone up and told me I fried my battery with an iPad charger. Thank you to my phone carrier associates that they should be call genius instead. That is what you call an answer instead of I don't know! Why are you getting paid? Apple Store, what a joke! I had another phone that I can't even ask a question on but had to book another appointment until 4 days later the earliest. I was there in person in front of them already. These people are so lazy!!! Just holding their tablets and kept chatting with each other instead of going up to a customer to ask if they need assistance. At least try to sell something. Terrible customer service! They only love to hire people with lots of tattoos all over their arms, facial hair that made them look like cavemen and facial piercings as well. Great job Apple!!! I hear it all the time at business meetings that no facial hair is allowed, no face piercings and no visible tattoos. Please save that stuff for after work. If you make people wait 2-3 hours for you to get NO answer, please put more chairs so they can sit and wait. It will make the store look more busy instead of employees walking around just chatting with each other about their personal lives. You get paid $15 start so get to work!!! There are a low percentage of employees that I know means serious business. They need more assistance in their departments. The store is pretty awesome but my fav remains the APple store in Regent St in London. This one, as usual, has all the toys that a fanboy/girl craves. I was pretty impressed with the genius bar. I know it can be hit- or- miss but my Apple guy was friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. I knew I left my baby in good hands. One advice, even for "routine" Applecare repair where you think you can just drop off your baby you still have to make a same day appointment at the Genius Bar (I made mine at 0630 on the website and had loads of time slots to choose from). The only reason that I gave it 4 stars is that it's in a freakin mall and to get there I have to navigate the various "mall traffic". Helmet hair security guy read more

I bought my MacBook here last year and had a great experience. Severely disabled when it comes to making decisions as I am, I had to come back several times to check out different models and ask a myriad of questions, and every single time the staff was friendly, patient and competent. The only good store in the mall, actually. One star off only because it tends to get crowded and sometimes the staff is very hard to come by. (Also, when I had finally settled on what I wanted it was actually sold out, which isn't really their fault. However, I was told to ring in advance next time to find out about new deliveries, but when I did and they only had a couple of the model that I wanted fresh in store, they were absolutely inflexible with regard to holding it for me - even though I was actually going to leave work and come over right away, so they would have had to hold it only for 1/2 hour. It turned out that I was lucky, and they hadn't sold out again by the time I arrived, but the attitude was a bit disappointing.) read more

I am an Apple fan. Yeah, I own an iPod and have owned pretty much all their 30GB ones. Except the touch, way out of my league price wise :) I also own a Macbook which I bought from this particular location. Firstly, the genius bar is awesome. Yes, you have to get an appointment first but thats only because duh - they're busy most of the time. Secondly, when I decided to switch from PC to Mac I called to see what time they open and the lady I spoke to immediately got me a personal shopping assistant. That was definitely very helpful since I was undecided on the exact model. The assistant was very well informed about every single detail of the macbook and I ended up with what I wanted. I have to point out here that he was not trying to sell me a more expensive one (unlike some other places i know of), just something that would suit my needs best. So, I love this store, they are nice to me :) You can randomly see me gawking and drooling at the iPhone from outside sometimes. And I don't see no security guard coming to shoo me off! read more

Sometimes we as reviewers (and by we, I mean me even though I know all of you do it too. . so really I mean "we") tend to get a little loose with five star reviews. We go to a restaurant that's tasty and the waiter does his job. We leave happy and want to come back. Five stars. My visit to the apple store today clinched a five star review, not for people smiling at me, or being helpful. . . not for the shiny awesome toys inside, or for the employees letting me play angry birds but for the way the employees (read: Nice guys and gals who really don't *have* to care that I'm alive much less about my iphone issues) here, without prompting, went out of their way to take care of me. For those unaware, I was hit by a truck. This has caused certain issues in my life, not the least of which is that I still have my old 3g. Said out of warranty 3g started having issues charging a bit ago, and now that money is finally flowing in from the insurance company I'm ready for a 4s. . . but not until the check actually shows up and clears. Today, my iphone stopped charging. At all. Bad. BAD BAD BAD. I've got to call my lawyer, doctors, family, etc. BAD. So I ran over to the apple store to see if I could fiddle with their cradles. Maybe it was my cable. I was hopeful. Since there was a line, I stood in it and a very helpful employee came up, talked to me immediately and told me I could go right in since the line was for 4s purchases, and I was welcome to browse, troubleshoot it on my own, and to let him know if I neede d genius. [note: I didn't tell him about the truck, just that I needed to figure this issue out] Cool, thanks, but I got this one. . I hope. Well, after some trial and error on their iphone cradles , I figured out the problem and started to leave (I'm kinda good at troubleshooting.). At this point, I had a bit of charge in the phone. enough to last a day or so if I didn't use it for anything but calls. Happy, I started to leave and then I got taken care of. I'm still in awe, and I don't want to get anyone in trouble because I have no idea what is or isn't allowed but I was completely taken care of. I'm still in awe. In an area of the country that isn't known for its customer service or even polite residents for an employee to take care of me the way they did is almost unbelievable. . but it happened. I'll be skipping best buy and radio shack for my 4S and dealing with the lines here. Thank you. Thank you so very very much. read more

Limited selection of products - but the staff and genius bar more than make up for that. I tend to buy my techie stuff online, so the lack of certain product availability does not bug me. But, when I have questions or need help with my iPhone and/or MacBook I want hands on, quality customer service! Previous apple stores I have dealt with (Boulder, Denver, Minneapolis, Boston) have had days of waitlists for the Genius Bar. That is a problem if your computer or phone are on the fritz! Waiting 5 minutes let alone 5 days is painful. Losing touch with the multitasking electronic friends and family is stressful enough before you have to wait in line and fear the worst! At the CambridgeSide Apple Store, I got in the next day (and it was a Saturday)! The staff and the tech were super helpful, pleasant and took great care of me! They did not try to keep my computer for hours/days either (common occurrence for even the most simple issue it seems). If you have to bring your Apple in for service, this is probably one of the better locations in the area for availability and customer service. For product, I would go online or to the Boston stores. read more

I was trying to pick my order up and forgot to bring my passport. I've been trying to prove to the guy who talks to me by logging in my App Store and show all my other IDs (school IDs for each year) and asked if I find a photo of my passport is that fine and he rejected all of them. Half years ago I picked up my air pods in the store in Boylston Street, Boston, yes I just showed my photo of my passport and that worked out. Idk why is apple's policy being so inflexible or is just this guy being unkind, but yeah I did waste my money for transportation and thank you so much. read more
