They dont realize they have a severe problem staring them in the face. At a few trouble shooting counters they have these internet data ports ready for use. I think there are 8 of them but the store doesn't realize they are useless. I looked into a few of them and most were heavily damaged on the inside. Can't be fixed just replaced. Yet the geniuses keep plugging the data cables in thinking they are working. They cant possibly work because of the damage inside. I bring this up because my fix there today took an hour and a half. It would have been far less time if they knew of the inside damage. At first glance they look fine. But when you look into them you can see the pin damage. Btw, I install data systems and have installed hundreds of these data ports. The genius bar needs to get smarter. read more

Really long wait at the Genius Bar despite a waiting area that was pretty empty the majority of the time. I had a scheduled appointment (although I was a bit late so I take full responsibility for that). After I was checked in and seated though it still was 47 minutes before a technician saw me, and almost an hour and a half before I was presented with a solution, which ended up being going to another store since they didn't have the parts needed to repair/replace my phone. I filled out the appointment request form very descriptively including the device type when making the reservation. I wish there was some sort of verbiage at the front and to state "hey we don't have this in stock, just so you know" Overall the staff was friendly, and I got to have some nice conversations with other customers. Could have been better, but I'm certainly not switching to Android, so I'll live. Just plan accordingly if you made an appointment. You may spend a large chunk of your day here. read more

Poor customer service. Casual attention to customers. My mother and I walked in to look for and buy a new I phone. There were a few people shopping, no available sales reps and were told by someone with an I pad to hang by the three phone tables and he would send someone over to us when they were available. Once they opened up, however, the sales people just went up to whoever was closest to them and it was clear that no one was actually directing them to those who were waiting first: two groups that came after us were helped while still no one made eye contact with us or checked to see if we needed help. Feeling invisible as an older woman with my mother in a wheelchair is one of my least favorite feelings. This is the third time I've tried to buy something from them in a week. I would like to start by saying I have been to Apple of Ridgedale 3 times this week. The service is terrible. The first time I walked out. No one would help. The 2nd time I waited and waited and finally got some help. I purchased a iphone and then asked for some help and said they were closing and could not help after the purchase. Not Cool! I most definitely drink the Apple juice. I am a huge fan of Apple products going back to 1993 when I got my first computer. I love the whole Apple ecosystem. So clean and modern and aesthetically pleasing. I've never seen this place not busy. I was greeted quickly and kindly at the door. I had made a genius appointment on the Apple Store app. Selecting my store and then I made a reservation. If you are going to just walk in and get your device looked at right then there would be some kind of miracle. You have to make an appointment to be seen BUT I was lucky enough to get a same-day appointment on a Saturday so that's wonderful. I saved my appointment code to my apple wallet that conveniently comes up in your phones notifications when you get to the store if not before. I was early so don't try to check in more than 5 min before your appointment they won't even check you in before that. Once checked in they asked me to wait seated on a cube. The apple genius' always have such patience. I can only imagine the questions they receive. Problem was fixed promptly and even offered me new airpod tips because I had destroyed mine. That was very kind. I had overheard a concersation of a salesperson asking what the customer truly uses when it comes to their iPad. They didn't immediately go the latest greatest. They curated the product for them and what they will be happiest with. I think I what I love more than anything I have had so many things fixed here and it's all complementary. Our Mac desktop died after 9 years and we got a new one in fun Blue! We made an appointment online with sales and brought our old one in to trade. It wasn't worth anything...but the sales person helped us choose the right new one based on our storage use. We also bought a universal adapter as there are no USB ports on the new Macs. Happy with our much faster new computer!!! Also, in July I upgraded my phone at this store without an appointment. Took forever, but the sales person helped me transfer everything to the new one and bought my old one. Priceless to have the help!!! read more

When I go to the Apple Store I have learned to request an older person closer to my age that doesn't talk so fast that I can't understand them. I have the latest Apple products because i was in the ad biz for years and grew up with the MAC. There is a lot of new stuff I can use even though I've been retired for many years. At my age of 80 I am always excited to go to the store to learn more. The case has been holding on much better than the one with silicone that was chipping off and falling apart. Nice location in a busy mall. The trackpad on my Macbook Pro was cracked so I made an appointment to come into the store. The guy told me they don't have any in stock and it would take 2-3 days to get it in stock. He then stated I can take my laptop home and they'll contact me when it's in stock so I can drop it off. He pointed out I don't need to make an appointment, it'll be a quick drop off. I then received notice the part was in stock so I went in to drop it off. There was a long line queued in the front of the store so I stood in that line which was around a 15 minute wait. The guy I spoke with I explained I needed to simply drop off a laptop for a repair. He asked my name and pulled me up on the tablet. He said "Stand over there by the Homepods. Someone will be there quickly". This is where things went downhill. I stand over there and no one comes. Employees were racing all around the store. I understand they were busy. Yet no one came to help me and several made eye contact with me throughout this time. I tried to get the attention of them and some that were racing by me but was unable to. Then another guy is sent over to wait by the Homepods. He mentioned he was there to pick up an item. All I could think of is if I've waited nearly 30 minutes, can you imagine how long he'll be waiting. Within 30 seconds though someone was there to help him so I knew something was wrong. As soon as the worker was done with him even though he was standing next to me he started running. To make sure I got his attention I nearly had to scream at him saying "I need help." I explained the situation. The guy said someone will be out quickly and fortunately someone was out in less than a minute. The guy of course had no clue who I was and had to pull my information up again. He admitted 'the communication' didn't happen so clearly they dropped the ball and if I had said nothing I could have waited there for hours. I understand this was a Sunday afternoon and the store was busy and understand there was a line. I am not happy with the fact that the ball was dropped from the first worker and no one was coming to help me. What upsets me the most though is how I was ignored for 30 minutes after that. I would think at some point employees would wonder why this guy is standing by the HomePods for 30 minutes holding a laptop. No employee ever offered to help me, even when I was trying to get their attention. Even the last one who was standing next to me nearly ran off without helping me. Between standing in line and the wait I was in the Apple store for nearly 50 minutes simply to drop off my laptop for repair. I had always heard good things about Apple products as well as the Apple Stores. I dread what will happen when I go back to pick up my computer in 3-5 days which is the turnaround time I was told the repair would take. If I get my way though I'll never step in an Apple Store again after I pick up my laptop. read more

There is nothing inherently wrong with this Apple store but it's as you would expect: a ton of people playing with the new iPhones and lots of standing around. I had done my research prior to entering the store so I knew what phone I wanted (the iPhone XR) and I had someone show me where the phone was but then he walked away. I had to walk back to the front of the store to ask for help. They took my name and asked me to wait and someone would come assist me. It's strange: there are a ton of people in red standing around (the workers) and yet it wasn't as simple as walking up to someone and asking for help: they would assign someone to you. Which, fine. But it meant I had to stand around longer and wait. Once someone came to help me he was very nice but proceeded to show me the XR and the features. This was also nice but I had already told him what I wanted so it seemed a little redundant to me. Either way, they had their Black Friday deals going on (buy a qualified iPhone and get $50 gift card). So, I traded in my iPhone 6S and got a discount and a gift card. After you buy the phone, they sit you down and let you transfer all of your data from your old iPhone onto the new one. I thought that was super neat as I've had issues with data transfer in the past. But, again, I was moved to a new worker to assist me with this part. There's not much to do while you wait for the data transfer. Thankfully mine was only about 10 minutes. Everything went fine. The store is clean, there are a lot of workers but it's very awkward. It's almost like they won't approach you and it feels like I'm bothering them when asking a question about the products. And the $50 gift card was nice but it was only enough for the lightning cable/audio jack adapter and another adapter for charging + an audio jack. Do not buy these in the store. Together, it totaled over $47. Buy them online, it'll save you money. But with the $50, I figured i might as well do it in store. There is a known sound issue with the iPod pros. I had a crackling sound with mine a few times and brought them in. The rep expected me to test them out at the store and asked which ear it's coming out of. Well this doesn't happen all the time so the crackling sound didn't happen. She spent about 3 min with me and told keep using them to find out which ear its coming from. Well this is a known issue with the pods. They should have just replaced them if this was repotted. These are expensive and if the customer ports an issue that matches with said issue then they should just take care of it read more

I brought my son in to get a new iPhone. They said they close in 30 minutes so come back tomorrow. There were 4 employees sitting around but I figured the most spend a good amount of time setting them up. Went back the next day/ traded in a iPhone for the new one, spent 1100 and they sent us on our way in a few minutes with the new iPhone and keeping ours. We tried to setup the new phone and had to call Verizon to get things setup on their end, then we tried to login into iCloud - but can't login without a verification to your phone- which isn't working yet. We are now going back again now after spending an hour on hold and being told we have to drive back to the store. 3 hours of driving and still no working phone. Just buy it from Verizon- way faster and less hassle... I bought all my phones online from Verizon and didn't have any of these issues. read more

Took my old 3Gs phone in to get updated. My crappy old windows based laptop keeps telling me that there is not enough memory left to back up and install the new 5.0 for my phone! Well I make an appointment for 24 hours from my in store visit and in 10 minutes everything is installed and complete. Now that's it for my store experience. I was In at Christmas and bought a new IPad as my Christmas gift to myself and that was a quick painless event. The store is filled with people to assist you. All of them very helpful from what I've found, no complaints there. Part two of this is the product. There is nothing electronic that you can buy that gets better with age. Now that has always been a hard core fact until the iPhone came along. With this new add to the 5.0 my phone gets better and better. Now with my iPad and my phone I can down load music on my iPad and it's all of a sudden there on my phone, and the same in reverse. Calendar events, contacts, videos, all this without wires and without me having to dink around trying to get crap to work. I can't get my windows based laptop to open a damn word document sent from work to home because I forgot about the new Word and the old Word, unless I remember to save the file in a different type...yet I can open ,either on my phone to view. I can see why this business is getting so many bad reviews and the rating is so low. My experience with Apple today was a seven hour nightmare. After speaking with tech support for three hours trying to solve a Apple maps in iOS 15.1, Talking to 7 text supports online and having to recall them all back because I don't have a second phone was just so unnecessary. I was told to go to the Apple Store Ridgedale to meet with a genius at the Genius Bar to discuss my issue, and that was two hours later. So I drove down there 45 minutes and was hoping to get in to talk to somebody early because it was probably a simple issue that the online people could not figure out. They told me I was too early that I had to come back. So I waited two hours and came back 10 minutes early there once again told me you have to come back at the specified time. I came back at the specified time in the person in front of me did not have an appointment and they told him to just wait around maybe something will open up. I then got to meet my genius at the Genius Bar, in two minutes he saw that it was a issue with VPN and maps iOS 15.1 does not support VPN. I asked prior if they could just ask somebody if they had known something I could try so wouldn't have to wait around but they denied my request. Apple hides behind one 800 numbers and their service layers and so support when they're not very knowledgeable makes it frustrating for someone who is having issues with their products. The reception I got at the greeters at this Apple Store Ridgedale was not very pleasant she was very condescending and snotty. Maybe they need to understand that the people coming to them may have been dealing with their issues for hours frustrated as I was just looking to get help, and maybe using a little compassion should be part of their job requirements. It took a lot for me to be calm as I could be . If Apple is standing behind this process, then I have to say I don't recommend there services or product. It was difficult to get anything from them for the past year and a half in their stores to have them open up now and just be rude and obnoxious is more than I can handle, I won't be going back. read more

Excellent service, I set up a Genius Bar appointment to fix my AirPods, the associate who attended to me, his name was Tom. Please ignore the bad reviews, they helped me immediately, fixed my issue and some other ones that were last minute, I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Coming from California, this was the best most efficient treatment I ever received from an Apple store and they welcomed me to stay even longer (like good sales personnel should). After 3 horrible experiences in the last 6 months at this store, I've vowed never to step foot in it again. Not only are the employees all but useless but, as another reviewer mentioned, I have always arrived early for my appointments and NEVER waited less than 30 minutes before being helped (30+ minutes after my appointment). I've heard salespeople blatantly lie to customers about future support for products, I've witnessed salespeople arguing with customers (the customer was right in both instances), and I've even been bribed with free $80 headphones after returning to the store after they "fixed my phone" (they in fact broke it, then shortly thereafter replaced it free of charge). Some people are really doing a disservice to potential customers by giving 5-star reviews to places like this (cough, AppleFanboy Kyle T, cough) when they are clearly just not very smart people (seriously? your Windows computer didn't have space so you brought it to the Apple store? are you kidding me?) Anyway, this place is awful. One of my coworkers just came back from an appointment (he was on time, but was gone for over an hour with all of 10 minutes worth of 'appointment time') and told everyone around that he's never going back. I was pleased to learn that after 3 weeks of struggling to figure out why our 2010 iMac had suddenly started to do nothing but show a blank white screen, we had purchased extended AppleCare for the product. Please bear in mind that this is our home computer and we had our first child this passed June...all of our Baby pics are on this computer.... I normally back up the data once a month, but with our child, I have forgotten many a task that doesn't directly involve him... Long story, short: brought our iMac in on a Thursday evening, they were not able to figure out the problem. They informed me they needed to take it overnight and diagnose the problem. They had no idea what it was. They informed me they would call me no later than Friday by noon with a diagnosis. I never received a phone call at all. Ever. I called them THREE times on Saturday and on Monday morning I finally received an email: My iMac was ready? !? !? I called, super surprised (of course), and hustled down to pick it up. Bonus! Extended Care covered all the costs. With no explanation, the "Genius" had me sign the paperwork and take our iMac. I brought it home only to find that they had completely replaced the Hard Drive. No one communicated ANY SUCH PROBLEM ever. We lost about 4000 priceless pictures.. My wife frantically called a manager..for some stupid reason, these "geniuses" were going to send our Hard Drive to Apple. What? Thank gosh she stopped them from sending it. Well, they were going to make us drive into the mall to pick it up, I called the manager back and he fedexed it overnight. However, he made them require a signature and like any normal 34 year old adult, I can't sit at home and wait for a package to be dropped off during a business week...so a week later I picked it up from the Fed Ex office. The Hard Drive is going to cost a fortune to be able to retrieve any data. If we can at all. As an employee of the top web development firm in the midwest, probably the USA, and an owner of 8 high priced Apple products....this whole experience made me and makes me question my loyalty; Disgusting treatment of extremely loyal customers. read more

I like apple products, and this is the best place to go for them because of the selection and knowledgable staff. If there is ever a question the staff doesn't immediately know the answer to they always look it up and learn something along with me. The reason for my 3 star reviews is that they are SO busy these days. Sometimes I can't get an appointment for days or longer. Its a shame because when they were a newer location you could get an appointment typically with in the hour. It cuts down on the convenience of an apple product with a warranty. Where I used to go get a new phone or macbook if mine were acting up, now I may be without it for a few days. I am sold!! This place initially got me a little annoyed but after I figured out how they work the Genius Bar, I understood their concept and things went well. The place was a zoo when I got there. I was greeted immediately, checked in and took my place at the Genius Bar. No one talked to me for at least 10 minutes but soon remembered: I have been checked in and needed to wait my turn. When it was finally my turn, I received the undivided attention of a brilliant man who REALLY knew his stuff. He ran some diagnostics. All was working fine (latest software update would not load & my MacBook had totally died). I agreed to leave the machine. They contacted me a couple hours later, all was repaired and ready to go. I needed a new battery (this Mac was purchased used and never had one). They did a full update of the machine. Upon getting it home, it was literally like a brand-new-out-of-the-box Mac. Yes - this IS what I wanted...... The thing works great. The staff at the Genius Bar knows what they're doing. The service work was timely. No charge for the update / re-install. I paid for the battery and am beyond thrilled at how my Mac works now. Each and every time I've had to call Apple on the phone, I get a real person who speaks English. I've always been well taken care of. Tell ya what. If you need service on your Mac / apple product, DON'T go anywhere else!! read more
