I have been here many times but brought my kid for his first PC build consultation and was blown away by the attention and thoughtfulness from everyone. Alex in the PC zone treated my kiddo as an adult customer and talked through considerations and tradeoffs he should consider in building a PC; Noah in the scheeduling center walked him through the process and explained what he should expect and what he needs to consider as a responsible PC owner; Connor in the service department was clear with him on his responsibilities and what he may need to troubleshoot or watch out for as a PC owner. The sales staff were very nice, however I have a few bones to pick with this store. 1. Online and in store, the product that I was looking for was not there. The lovely sales associate did escalate this problem to their manager and their online inventory was fixed. I very thankful for her help but it would have been nice if it was actually there. 2. There is no cart return outside. It's a pain to bring the cart all the way back in store with a child after loading the car, especially in the winter. 3. Many of the customers need to shower more than once a week, and should consider putting on deodorant. Many of them physically STANK. Basic hygiene is lacking for a handful of their customers. Maybe buy PC and get a free degree? Maybe a reward system would be nice to encourage healthy habits. read more

I came an hour before closing to check for an item and was pleased with my experience! I didn't feel like I was rushed because they were closing soon and Brandon was really patient with answering all the questions I had about the raspberry pi models also keeping in mind the context I was wanting to use it for. It had been quite some time since I've visited micro center so it was fun to check out all the new displays and see what all is being carried now. It looks like they've added repair services now too for those who are in need. I do miss being able to call the store directly for assistance and checking item stock but all the associates have a business card with their work email you can send any requests to which I can appreciate. read more

SPACE! It's entirely way too cramped for the amount of people in there on a daily basis. The lines are way too long. You need at least 10 more registers that line is way too long. It's too cramped and too crowded and messy. I've seen the North Carolina location and it's a warehouse which every location should be this big and this neat and clean and organized. I actually found what I was looking for at Best Buy for $50 cheaper. I bought a raspberry pie five kit complete bundle power case SD card it was $50 cheaper than what I found at Micro Center. Micro Center in Minneapolis is kind of a mixed bag for me. I went in to buy a computer for productivity and maybe some light gaming, and I was paired with someone to help me out. The service was okay, but the person helping me came across a bit condescending at times, and some of their comments felt unnecessarily snippy when I asked questions. I am not sure if it was just that employee, because I have had better interactions with other workers there on different visits. It also seemed like the person who helped me did not fully understand the return warranty, because when I came back to get my computer serviced, the customer service rep explained something completely different from what I had originally been told. That being said, Micro Center is still a great place to find computers, parts, and pretty much anything electronic. If you go, it might help to bring someone who knows a bit about electronics or computers so you can feel more confident about what you are buying. read more

Seems like the place to go for expert advice...especially if you're building a PC. But, I simply can't get help from the sales associates. Even after the few people wandering around the desktop section leave, it's like I have the plague. The sales people huddle and talk without saying one word to me. As much as I hate to go to Best Buy to buy a PC, at least the sales people will talk to me. After hearing great word of mouth, I decided to hit this place up as I was looking to build a PC. This place is nerdvana. Friendly service in every section of the store. Very fair and reasonable prices. They have the micro center store branded products which are much cheaper than the brand names but with same quality. The store was clean and well stocked. We all had a great experience there and honestly because the service is so good that we were done within 15-20 minutes. The checkout line is a bit cumbersome but tbh, the line does move fast. I've trusted Micro Center for years and built six PCs with parts from them. On Saturday, 8/29, I scheduled a 6:40 PM diagnostic appointment for Labor Day through the website. I got confirmation emails and texts, rearranged my day (including getting a sitter for my elderly dog with cancer), and packed up my full-size tower for a 75-minute round trip... ...only to find the store had closed at 6. No call, no warning, nothing. They had two entire business days to call me to reschedule. On 9/2, I called to ask if they'd discount the $50 diagnostic fee for their mistake. I was told no. I had planned to upgrade my GPU and RAM, maybe even a new motherboard. After years of loyalty, it's clear Micro Center doesn't value customers, only money. I'll be taking my business to a local shop instead and no longer recommending them to friends, family, coworkers, or clients. read more

It's been a couple years since I've brought in a laptop for service. I was referred here several yars ago by....Geek Squad! They were always friendly, timely and helpful in explaining what my issue was. Since then I randomly get postcards in the mail or emails for a free or deeply discounted item. Today I made the drive for the free 128GB jump drive. I expected it to be on an end cap. I didn't see anything so I started walking down the first aisle while reading the aisle indicators above. I finally found an employee who I showed the email to. He directed me to the cashier... they were in a drawer chest behind him. He scanned my email coupon code and I was out the door. Easy and quick. A kind salesman stopped and inquired as to what I was looking for. After explaining my issue he knew that all I needed was a "switch" which essentially was a plug in adapter that gave me more ports. Rating should be closer to 2.5 and not three. On behalf of my company, I've spent at a minimum of 10k but probably more at this location. For many years it got solid 5's, good staff lines were a bit annoying but they moved fairly quick. FF to now and they have slipped quite a bit. Especially in the pc build area. I go there and buy a few parts, a power supply, board and cpu indicating that I wanted an asus (amazing boards never had issues with them before out of 10+). The salesman keeps steering me to get an asrock saying it's better and cheaper etc. The board is a total chinese POS, getting tons of hw issues and now it's bad enough where I need to replace the pos with an Asus. I go back to the store, I ask the guy to look up my motherboard and please give me the similar asus one. He says he doesn't have the time to do that and I can just look at the board and look it up. You can't fix your own garbage recommendation? Out 200 getting a new board online, but much better bang for the buck than Microcenter. They'll post their ai assisted response with no intention of improving, glad I won't be back unless it's an emergency. read more

Thankful that Micro Center is still around to get my computer and electronic parts. They are always fully stocked and prices are reasonable. Customer service reps are generally good to ask questions. With the loss of so many big box electronic stores, it's great to have this store in the area. I will say though, their sales POS system is so outdated. Microcenter stores across the country don't talk to each other and the online store is definitely run on its own. Leads to confusion when you're trying to return items ordered online. I've shopped at their stores in California and Ohio for years but this store had no access to my account. For an electronics business, seems ironic that their POS system is so antiquated. read more

Absolutely no one offered to help or acknowledged me when I tried asking for assistance. I was in the store for probably 20 minutes wanting to find a good keyboard set up. I made eye contact and tried to speak to workers who just kept walking past me. while I understand they may have already been assisting other customers, being acknowledged or coming back to help would have been nice. I shouldn't have to run around the store trying to find someone to help me. read more

We came for the NVIDIA RTX 3070 (yes, the same one that sold out in seconds online) because my husband bought one online from a Micro Center and was charged, then the order was cancelled. As soon as we walked in, there was an associate in PPE with spray sanitizer for everyone who enters. The RTX 3070 was clearly labeled with signs pointing to where it was, but we still caught an associate, Ody, and asked for help. They quickly retrieved the card for us. I asked about the online order and they brought us to the sales manager, Rodd, who clearly and kindly explained the situation to us. I've been going to Microcenter to buy computers for years and years, having followed older siblings here since I was little (I'm old enough to remember how run down the area was before all the development started). Always had a great experience--except the last time I went, which was about two years ago. Customer service is fine, their associates and staff with tech support and returns are great. My experience with a particular 'manager', however, was not very pleasant. My very young son had finally bought his first desktop but upon setup there was an issue and no one could figure out why the sound wasn't working. After multiple tries from tech support, friends, etc, Microcenter tech support advised us to bring back the pc and switch it out (return) as it was possibly faulty. Despite the long drive, that's what we did. Before leaving the store, I spoke to the repairs/tech support area of the store and they agreed that testing out the pc before leaving would be best. We stood in line patiently with everyone else who needed help but there were suddenly two lines and no one seemed to know why or what that second line was for. Since there was this manager just standing around asking if people had questions, I asked which line was for what. His answer to me? "THESE LINES ARE FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS." I was very taken aback by his incredibly rude, snarky response that seemed to be directed at me. No one had done anything to provoke that kind of attitude from him. It was uncalled for. I've literally spent tens of thousands of dollars here, a loyal customer following the steps of older siblings who shop here and now have my own child whom would now be a customer here. Every pc-related equipment/accessory/what-have-you I've purchased was from this Microcenter, despite the hour-long drive each way. My thought is that this is exactly the type of person who somehow gains a managerial position through questionable efforts (I must now question the decision of those who hired and promoted him), and the type of person that everyone likely hates working with. We all know the type. If my son hadn't been looking at me with such pleading, excited eyes because he was getting his first computer and hoping it would work this time, I would have immediately returned everything, cited the manager's behavior as the reason, and left. Instead, I continued with the kind folks in the repair area, they tested our brand new, still in the box, just-purchased-from-microcenter pc, ran into the same issue as before and couldn't fix it, so they found a work around instead. I even ended up purchasing additional products at the advice of the repair techs. This was 2 years ago and I still feel heavily slighted by the very poor behavior of this so-called manager. Didn't get his name, but he was tall, white, short brunette hair, beard, glasses, beer belly, likely in his 30s. Pompous, with a snide sense of superiority. After this experience, I completely stopped going to Microcenter. I stopped buying anything from them and stopped promoting them to friends/family/businesses. Because of this one employee, who, in his position should really know better, choose the wrong words, Microcenter has completely lost a years-long loyal customer and all who are connected. Last year, I bought a new gaming laptop. I also recently bought parts to upgrade my son's now-2 year old pc. My son is learning to build his own pc and streams his own content now. Every time we need something related to computers, we don't bother with Microcenter and we also don't have to deal with any disrespectful 'managers'. I work for a small nonprofit. On Friday 9/13/24 my board chair and I visited Microcenter to purchase 6 laptops and 1 desktop computer for our technology upgrade. After picking out the 6 laptops the sales clerk said that weren't sure they wanted to sell us this much of their inventory. When asked why - she really didn't have a suitable answer. After getting approval from her manager to sell us the laptops we picked out an All n One HP desktop to complete our order. During check out one of the managers came over and saw our order totally over 8K. Upon seeing this he called another manager who said that they will not take our credit card for this payment and that they would prefer cash. I thought they were playing because of the pure absurdity of the request. But when we attempted to pay with a check they denied our order. I next opened our bank account app. so they could see we had over 100k in our checking account and asked if we could use our company debit card. Once again we were denied, at this time the manager said, "It's only 4:00pm the banks are still open. We would feel more comfortable if you went to the bank and got us cash for this order." At that time the realization that the 2 White managers were not going to sell the 2 Black customers the technology we had spent 3 hours picking our for our nonprofit. I requested another manager and was denied this request and told they have the right to refuse to sell their products to who they see fit. As we had the money, which we could produce and pay for our purchase a number of ways we still we were denied. At that time it became apparent that this store and there management were not interested in our business. This awareness message is for our other culturally specific nonprofits and the any BIPOC customers who may be considering doing business with this racist company. Please don't, take your money to Best Buy where the prices are cheaper and they do not allow their management to deny sells based on their internal biases. Rich. They charged $40 analysis fee for my MacBook Air though i went in for a minor crack on the screen just to say all these other things wrong and cant fix the screen without charging me $1,054 for total repairs on whatever else "they say" wrong (per Apple) though thats not the service i went in for. Neither did they inform me of that before they took my $40 So i got the display fixed same day for $300 and it works perfect no issues they claimed it has! Big corp BS! Final update: after following up with corporate office today, I was informed that Micro Center has terminated its contract with this security company, nationally. I'm very pleased that they ended up taking this issue seriously, and their strong response is telling. My confidence in this company has definitely been restored. Original review: I walked in to find an armed security guard stationed at the entrance. This is normally not alarming, but this one was wearing a patch that is a known rallying symbol of white supremacists. I alerted the manager, who showed little concern or interest in promptly addressing the problem. As a long time customer, i am incredibly disappointed thatt MicroCenter would so blatantly support their employees or contractors who show support for white supremacy while on (or off) the clock. Responding to what seems like a response from the owner that was written by ai, considering my name isn't "name." To me, an appropriate response would be written by a human, and followed up by action, such as terminating the contract with this security provider and/or updating dress code policies immediately (and informing the public of those changes with an apology). Further, I have yet to be contacted by the gm, after leaving my info and asking for follow up. @microcenter, I hope you take this as a learnable lesson. 2nd update: @microcenter I see you have remedied the problem with my name but have failed to address the root problem (hired, armed white supremacists guarding your stores). Nor has any manager followed up with me, despite having my info. How about you share what you're doing to remedy the problem with your security contractor and explain how you are going to ensure your stores are safe for all customers, no matter their skin color or religion? read more

Taking way too long to fix my laptop. It's been a month. I was told it might take some time, and we talked about what parts might need to be replaced. That's fine I understand. However, it took 3.5 weeks before they even started it. When they finally did, they repeated to me what parts we already talked about purchasing then put an order in for them. Order those parts ahead of time if I have to wait 3.5 weeks before its started. Hopefully the laptop gets fixed. If not, I won't be purchasing a new one from Microcenter after this service, that's for sure. read more

We come to Micro Center for all of our electronic needs with good pricing and access to everything we normally need, so it was quite disappointing to stop by two days in a row with the checkout line completely wrapped around the entire store. Don't get me wrong, the pandemic has changed the wait times and cleaning processes - I get that. There were multiple check-out lanes "open" with the lights on, but no one there to help with the registers. No wonder the wait times were so long... It was disappointing that returns and exchanges don't have the option of going through the service desk like other businesses. It feels like double the wait - once to buy the initial products and then another to return the items. I'm really hoping Micro Center figures out a different process for check-out because the wait times are longer than any other business I've been to. Even if the solution is being honest about which lanes are "open" would be helpful in estimating wait times. read more

I would compare this place to a Best Buy, but WAY BETTER. Their staff is friendly, and per my knowledge the workers aren't sales people, they are actual Tech people. So they aren't going to upsell you. I went in a week ago on a recommendation from my work's IT department. My wireless internet wasn't reaching consistently to where my office was in the house. I went in with my information thinking I knew what I had to get and I'd be able to get in and out real quick. I know I don't know much about technology, so I made sure to ask for help, and the Rep was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. She understood what I was needed, even though I may not have been asking it correctly. She knew what my budget was and respected it. She also noted that if what I purchased didn't work, there was another option, but at more of an increased cost(still within my budget). I did end up returning the original extender I bought and purchased the upgrade. Again, still within my budget. After trying that one out, it worked better just didn't work completely. So I ended up returning it a few days later. There was a 30 day return on both items I purchased, and each Cashier was kind enough to inform me prior to me asking. I feel like that is great customer service. Making sure the customer knows policy verse expecting them too. The line seems very long each time I have went, but fear not, it does move quickly. Overall, while it's in SLP and a bit of a drive for me, this place is where I will be going if I ever have tech-issues or needs. Definitely better then Best Buy IMHO. read more
