I am very VERY upset with the Shadyside Apple Store. All I needed to do was replace my phone and that was it. First of all, the didn't have the phone. What kind of store doesn't have their own product. That's ridiculous. Second of all, I was told that an appointment would be made a Ross parks Apple Store to pick up the phone. They told me that they called and they lied. We got to Shadyside and they did not call. So now I have to sit here and wait for a few more hours. Not to mention anything else but I have been waiting to get this phone since twelve. I have been waiting for three hours just to replace a phone. It is ridiculous. read more

My iphone 5s was having some issues with the microphone/speakers which were preventing me from being able to make phone calls. I took the phone into Verizon, and Verizon could only offer to send me a certified, used phone in the mail. Instead, I went to Apple and they replaced the phone right there on the spot with no hassle. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I encountered many different staff members, but the transaction ran smoothly, because each staff member was educated on my needs, and was able to pick up and go without back tracking or asking me the same questions over again. I was especially impressed with a staff member named Gabe. I was not working directly with him, but was sitting next to him and another customer. The customer was extremely rude and mean to Gabe the entire time for AT&T's mistakes. Gabe was very friendly to her and tried his best to calm her down and help her with complaints. He even called AT&T for her, but that was not enough. The crazy lady eventually stormed out. This was best customer service I've received in a very long time! read more

Why can't we give a negative star rating when a business has been absolutely callously irresponsible? My partner took his phone there for a new battery. Pretty simple, right? When he came back an hour later they told him that they had broken his phone but were giving him a new one. Assured him that everything had been loaded from the old to the new. But over 100 irreplaceable photographs from a trip last week to France were somehow lost by Apple Shadyside. LOST when all he wanted was a new battery! I've heard complaints about that place but to have some incompetent jerk erase a hundred important photos? (Must say that one smart, kind guy names James worked hard to find a solution, as did Apple corporate. Go there at your own risk but at least don't let a guy whose name begins with "A" near your phone. Can't even replace a battery or protect your phone's contents. If a pic is worth a thousand words, I could write 100000 about how sad and helpless it feels to have some moron carelessly lose your memories. read more

Tried to buy an iPad mini tonight - no one would help me out even though someone working there was customer-free. I was told by the customer-free employee that I would need to wait for a specialist. I told this employee the exact model and color that I wanted and asked if they had it in stock - I practically handed over my credit card! Alas, no one helped me out. after hearing so many horror stories about how long people had to wait for the "blue shirts" to give them service at apple stores i was not looking forward to having to go to one. but i had a fantastic experience. i was taken care of as soon as i walked in, my problem was assessed, and sure i had to wait maybe a total of ten minutes, if that, for an apple genius to help me with my specific problem, but i didn't mind with all the toys around the store to play with! let me tell you more about my specific adventure: i went in, with a busted ipod, not knowing if they'd sell me a new battery or if i'd have to pay hundreds for a new device. turns out, they have this system now where you turn in your old device and they replace it with the same model for the cost of the part. so in my case, i got a brand new ipod classic (which had even more GB than mine since they make them differently now) for the price of a new battery. (brand spankin new ipod for $63??? i'll take it!!!) and i have to mention the genius member i spoke to, john l., who was super friendly and helpful. unfortunately i can't remember the names of the first two gentlemen i spoke to, but they were both also excellent employees. read more

You know, I am going to admit something: I destroy everything I touch. I bought my macbook 5 years ago, and since then I have been to the Apple Store on Walnut more times than I can count (seriously, I've been at least a dozen times). I am not particularly good with technology, and I'm not materialistic so I tend to not take good care of my personal items. I do work in the tropical rain forest out of country as well. Needless to say, I've had a plethora of issues with my laptop. I've had the keyboard replaced twice, the entire screen replaced twice, the battery replaced twice, charger replaced 4 times, had to wipe out everything and reboot, etc. The people here have always worked with me- and they know how to run a business. A company that has good customer service and treats their buyers well have good retention and good reviews (like this one). Even though many times I walk in frustrated and short, they still take my BS and have almost always solved my problem. Furthermore, many times they have repaired things free of charge even after my warranty ended. This store and its employees in particular have been great. And believe me, I'm not very patriotic, but I am proud to be an American and get the service that the American stores provide. I lived in Panama for two years doing research and the Apple stores there are a nightmare to deal with. Anyway, I will most definitely be more than willing to purchase another pricey macbook (pro) after this one finally dies out (although I'm crossing my fingers that it holds out until I finish graduate school), largely due to the help I know I will get if and when something goes wrong. I feel totally scammed. I brought my brand new 2 month old computer in to be fixed for a minor glitch. they told me they wanted to run further tests on it and to keep it at the apple store overnight. The next morning I get a call saying that my computer wont even turn on anymore. I was shocked. they then preceded to tell me that it needed a new part to completely fix it but it would cost me 100 and also cost me one of 2 chances to send it in under my apple warranty. I said no because I didn't want bear the cost of this burden over something they did to my computer overnight that resulted in it not even switching on. To make the story even more amazing I picked my computer up very upset that this apple store did more damage than good and were not budging to waive the cost of the damages they imposed over night. When I picked it up the manager was very insistent that I still pay to send it to headquarters to be further worked on. I said no because I was fed up and no longer trusted their expertise or advice. I went home and plugged it in just to see if it would turn on.... IT TURNED ON and WAS FINE!!!! WHAT A SCAM!!! They didn't even plug it in and thats why it wasn't turning on!!!! They tried their hardest to get me to pay for a computer that simply wasn't charged! I am so sickened and disgusted by my experience at the Apply store in shadyside Pittsburgh. read more

I spent two hours at the Apple Store in Shadyside yesterday. The employee who was working at the table I was sent to was nice enough, and at first seemed like he knew what he was doing. However, after an hour and a half of doing things I could have done myself and that were NOT my issue (which was just a cracked screen), as well as numerous different employees telling me different things, I realized that some of these employees only have the most basic knowledge of Apple and that I could have figured out everything they did for me without stepping foot in the store. Every option they provided got progressively more expensive and the only useful information they told me was at at the end of the two hours I spent there, and it was that they could not replace my screen because it had been previously replaced from a third-party source so my only choice was to get a new phone. Needless to say, my new screen is also from a third party, and Apple stores are basically useless unless your intent is to go in and buy as many new products as they can try and push on you. read more

My kids and I visited the Shadyside Apple Store This week for phone troubles. We had a small wait to get with a technician so we started playing with the product and soon met Anthony Morales. Anthony was a blast! I wish there was a way I could give him a review on Apples site, but couldn't find one. Truthfully, everyone we came in contact with, and our technician, Caleb, was outstanding. I have never written a review before but I had to for this experience. The speaker on my Iphone 4s had blown out completely. I took it to this apple store and was waited on by an employee named James. He indicated that there was no water damage and it seemed to be a manufacturer defect. He brought me out a brand new phone (phone was not refurbished, it was made specifically by apple technicians for the warranty process with all apple parts). Then he activated my phone and I was good to go. I was not only extremely pleased with the outcome, but also impressed with the service and how easy it was to get a new one. This experience I had at apple was the best I have ever received. On numerous occasions i have been victim of/or witnessed apple associates treating customers either poorly for their lack of understanding, or rudely because they assume everything is common knowledge when it is not. The care I received at this apple store was superb! Jeremy, Rachel, Jeff, and the employee in training (of which i can't recall the name) were very patient, helpful, and very professional. They created a very comfortable atmosphere, one that I would be happy to come back to with any other need that may arise. Also, they kept me informed about every step that they were taking, and when they explained these, they did it with a smile and in plain english. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service I received at the apple store, and I am very happy with my new iphone 6s that they helped me purchase at the end. I made sure to let the manager know, but the Shadyside apple store by far, is the best one I have ever been to and I have had apple products for numerous years and being from out of town, I have been to almost all the stores in Northern Virginia. read more
