Hate this store!!! They never have anything good! Every time I go in there they have the same old stuff that has been on the shelves for over 5 years!!! Please get rid of stuff that has been on the shelf for years. Volunteers are rude and the manager sucks. They have a sign up in the front that says everything is half off in the store, but then they make the prices super high so that it's just like a regular price item at any other thrift store. Went in for the first time (on a Saturday) and the volunteers were very friendly and helpful. Didn't realize they close at 2 but we made our purchase on the dot and the gentleman volunteer helped my mom and I out to the car with our items. This place has the most awful "volunteer "manager in all of the High Desert! I donate my time and craft to elderly,special needs,and single parent households. I am an interior decorator and home stager. I provide my services to my clients free of charge because ,they are all on fixed incomes. I purchase items from thrift stores,garage sales,private sellers and Apple Valley Senior Thrift Store, eliminating some of the expenses for my clients. The" volunteer "manager"accused me of changing the prices of the items I wanted to purchase for one of my clients "surprise "living room redo". I have never felt so insulted in my entire life! I asked her to play the cameras and prove what she accused me of,she refused and yelled, " just get outta my store"! It would take a couple of days before we can play the cameras,and I was done with you when you first walked in"! This individual would get upset whenever I would find a bargain and she would question her own handwriting .I have donated and shopped at this store for quite sometime now,but,whenever this "manager" was present,she would cause so much chaos with me. As always,I stay calm,buy my items and leave. She got upset when I asked her to test a hand mixer I wanted to purchase,her assistant yelled,"WE TESTED ALL ITEMS ! Today she refused to sell me the items for my client and pointed at the sign,"WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE"and did not let me purchase the items for my client. I spoke with the manager of the SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER,(Ed)(they are in charge of the thrift store). I explained my ordeal to him and asked him what warranted her behavior towards me,he said,he would find out. I gave him my information and he later called me and said to me ,"two volunteers had a problem with you",shop somewhere else"! I'm mortified! This place would be five stars if it weren't for the horrible service the ladies working here give. I was generous with my two stars. The clothing is top notch with affordable prices. I constantly find brands such as Bebe, Tahari, Calvin Klein, Express and Kenneth Cole. The first of the month they have super cheap deals like $1 clothing and half off of furniture. Unfortunately I have to be honest with my grips. They close at 3:30, yet lock the doors at 3 and make you check out before 3:15. So what the heck is happening between 3:15 and 3:30?? Walking in at 2:39 the lady snaps at us "you have less than 36mins to do your shopping". First, off you can say that way differently. The way she said it just turned me off to shopping at all there. Then since I was put off, I kept listening to her and nitpicking. How it should be said is, "Hi ladies, unfortunately we check out at 3:15, so you only have X amount of time left". They really give off the "I hate my job" vibe. Look, if you don't like working there find somewhere new. The gossiping needs to stop, it's very unprofessional. Talking about other employees, customers and outside stuff. I heard a wild story while shopping about a customer who is black listed and they have her picture on the wall cause she likes to pick on an employee because she gets a kick out of it. Uh, okay. When I am checking out I would appreciate the cashiers complete attention, instead the cashier is on her Bluetooth with a family member talking about dinner plans. Lastly, it came to 27.17 and she asks me if I have change. I said yes and hand her 30.25. She states, "well that wasn't what I wanted, I wanted exact change. " Excuse me?! You'll get what I give you. I'm the customer. No where does it state it has to be exact cash. I rolled my eyes and she explains, "well I really am trying not to have to open the safe tomorrow. " And that's my problem how? I see a lot of comments on the volunteers, but personally, I love listening to the gossiping older ladies. It adds to the ambiance of this place. Prices used to be a lot better, but it's rare to find a thrift shop that doesn't check eBay and over-estimate their items' worth points anymore. Still a lot of great deals, especially if looking for books or shopping the first week of the month. Hours are few and far between, due to covid, but that's to be expected. read more

I have shopped at this thrift store for years. It has consistently had the best prices, the best quality items, and the most helpful staff! In reading the other reviews, I was shocked to hear all the whining, entitlement-sounding complaints about the staff. I doubt if the negative reviewers have been present when rude and inappropriate customers make their demands. Personally, I rather enjoy a "grumpy Grandma" or "Grandpa". And, of course, no one is forcing you to shop here. Now that COVID is defining "new normal", the hours and days are reduced, but EVERYHING is HALF OFF!!!! This store has turned into a real joke. It used to have such great prices but now the prices they are asking is unbelievable even higher than the Goodwill rip-off prices. I used to donate there but will no more. Most of the time they aren't accepting donations anyway due to no room but its no wonder due to their laughable prices. However if you like to listen to a bunch of gossiping and rude old people then this is the place to hang for awhile. read more

I really like the clothing selection and organization here, but there are problems. 1) the elderly people who run the front tend to be impatient and occasionally rude. You're customer service. I don't care if you're a volunteer. You still have to meet customer service expectations, and you still have to be competent, or you shouldn't be there. 2) Some of the prices are nonsensically high. Wrangler and rustler (I believe) jeans are priced at $5. They are used jeans. Other people have worn them, abused them, and from the age range and appearance of the people who shop and donate there, probably pissed and shit their adult diapers in them. They should not cost $5. Also, why are two specific brands priced higher when they are not better than anything else? Wranglers are cheap, ugly, shitty jeans. They're not fuckin Banana Republic or Guess. Get a grip. Also, cargo shorts are priced higher than other shorts. Again, WHYYYYYYYYY especially since cargo shorts are fugly! It's like the old people price things based on what they (dimly) recall having been cool once (in the nineties). 3) they are cash only. WHY. ?!?. No one carries cash in 2018. Get a Square. I know that at least one of the cashier ladies has an iPhone because she's always on it while she's ignoring the people trying to check out. -____- I honestly buy like half my clothes here and I sincerely want them to get better because these issues are all the more frustrating to a loyal customer! read more

I realize that when you get older you lose patience however, there is no reason for store staff to get upset because customers ask questions. Answering customer questions is exactly what they are supposed to do. Most often during the 1/2 off sale they have the rudest short haired lady working the register. Poor customer service and hikes price at register. Found 2 pairs of jeans . Went to pay . They told ke the geans I am buying are supposed to be $20 instead of normal price. Even though they were not marked st 20. See they have set prices pn their clothes. Now they want more for name brand. Fine but lable them and keep them sepperate .not smaco in the middle of hundreds of other jeans. I was humiliated. Buly the eay I was treated. I jave shopped there for years have brought in many bew customers have recended them to every one. No more. They will all stay away from now on. The prices have gone up but still cheaper than most places. The staff are very pushy and rude. I won't be going back.
