Avoid Apple Valley. I've been with them for five years, and within the last year my siblings and I have dealt with constant miscommunication and a noticeable lack of care for our mother's 20‑year‑old cat. At one point, I was advised to shove a pill down her throat, along with other practices that felt completely unethical. I was also pressured to bring her in for her annual appointment and told that if I didn't schedule it on their timeline, they would refuse to send her prescribed renal diet food. When I later spoke with the manager, I was told they would never withhold food from a cat and that the woman I spoke with was new and "didn't know." My concern is this: how is anyone working in a veterinary clinic comfortable threatening to withhold food from an elderly cat especially when it isn't even part of Apple Valley's protocol? read more

The vet at Apple Valley Vet prescribed Temaril- P that took the life of my sweet girl from me. Brought my animals here for around 8 years at least, I used to love this vet, not anymore, boy have they put money before the care of animals. I brought my dog in last year 12/28 for just a nail trimming. I went to pick him up and paid the bill and it was 273.43, they did an annual exam WITHOUT asking and charged me for it. When I called and asked why that was done without consent they said they would give me a call back after they talked to someone and I never heard back from them. I guess they can do any service and charge you for it without your consent. My dog get skin infections throughout the year and breaks out in bloodly sores. They put him on an antibiotic when i brought him in, telling me it was a skin bacteria infection. I went home and gave him his meds and it worked and cleared it up. I also have him on Benadryl to as needed. He broke out again last year and I called and talked to them and asked if I really needed to bring him in everytime his skin breaks out just to get the same meds and I was told no, just call and we will refill the meds. So they refilled the meds for me. Now his skin broke out again and i was out of his meds and i called for a refill just for them to tell me they cant refill it because he needs his annual exam. I stated that he did have it 12/28/2022 and today is 12/27/2023 and im not trying to split hairs but i am within the 12 month period (even though its by a day) and he needed them bad as he is broken out. I was then told that in the system it says that if that doesn't work he needs to be seen for his skin for a different med to prevent it. WELL big surprise no one EVER told me that. I was just told that I could call to have it refilled so I didn't have to bring him in each time. I am BEYOND disappointed with this place. I asked if he could get the med prescribed that they were talking about seeing i am still in the one year period and was told no, he had to be seen again, for the same skin issues he has been seen about. It is not like i don't have a veterinarian-client-patient already established with them, I do and it has been for years! I have even recommended friends and family to this place. Unfortunately I will not be going back there, I am not one for writing bad reviews as I gave them a chance even AFTER they just charged services on there without consent but now with this, I would expect better from them after all these years. I have been using Apple Valley for many years and it has just gotten worse and worse... called on February 15th my dog Jolene woke up with a bad urinary tract infection blood and clots coming out. When I called them I was told I could bring her in March 8th! I called another clinic and they got her in immediately, Update! Regardless of the comment below by the clinic, it does not negate the practices responsibility. Minimally the practice should have a backup plan, or a pet hospital they call ahead and send you. Your veterinarian firm is irresponsible and if you cannot handle the volume of clients hire an addition veterinarian or stop seeing new clients. Once again the vet practice filling my comment with a reply that says nothing and doesn't make it right. DO NOT GO to Apple Valley if there is an emergency they will let you down, and then tell you basically good luck, and hey fyi, I do call my doctor and inform them I am in need of assistance. A urinate tract infection is normally not a ER thing! It's a I need to see my doctor in the next 24 hour thing.... You comments anger me and shows how condescending your clinic really is.... Apple Valley Veterinary Clinic is abusing my elderly mother. Apple Valley's treatment of my 84 year-old, half-blind, and disabled mother is reprehensible, rising to the point of elder abuse. My mother utilized A.V.V.C.'s House Calls, for in-home veterinary services, due to her being unable to drive. Their veterinarian diagnosed my mothers cat with diabetes. The A.V.V.C. veterinarian then began selling Very Expensive diabetic cat food to my mother. When I saw their price, I ordered diabetic cat food from Chewy, for home delivery. A.V.V.C. refused to provide the Chewy Representatives with the required 'verbal' prescription (yes, you need a prescription to purchase diabetic cat food) and stated that my 84 year-old mother needed to "call a cab, because the prescription needes to be hand delivered" The Chewy representatives I spoke with confirmed that all they need was a verbal (or) return fax from A.V.V.C. In that my mother can't drive (33 miles) to physically pick up a prescription, and A.V.V.C. will not verbally approve or return fax the prescription to chewy, mom is now forced to purchase A.V.V.C.'s overpriced cat food. A.V.V.C. had no issue calling/faxing Walgreen's for the pharmaceutical diabetic prescription. Clearly, this clinic preys on senior citizens who have few veterinarian resources/options due to physical disabilities. read more

Having worked for veterinarians for 15 years, doing grooming and managing their boarding facilities, I have a real good idea of how the different procedures go - whether it's just routine vaccinations or complicated surgeries trying to save a pet hit by a car. That was many years ago, but certain things just don't change. Recently we took our dog in for a routine neutering. We dropped him off early in the morning and were called to pick him up about 4pm in the afternoon. While waiting for my turn to pay my bill before getting my dog, an employee came from the back with a small dog whose owner was there to pick it up from a grooming. The poor little thing was obviously in some kind of distress; dragging it's little butt all over the floor; trying to reach around with it's nose and deal with whatever was bothering it, and having been a groomer myself for so many years, I couldn't believe that not ONE; not ONE of the 4 people behind the desk didn't take note of the poor little thing's angst and suggest maybe a vet should take a look and see if it wasn't nicked or possibly had impacted glands that needed to be addressed. The 4 personnel just finished the owners billing and sent him out the door with the little dog still struggling with it's backside. I was very angry and it wasn't even my dog!! So, next I was called into a room to have a so-called 'vet-tech' explain my dog's procedure and go through my itemized bill. I was seething from the lack of treatment of the previous little dog, so I tried as calmly as I could to say 'I've worked for veterinarians for 15 years - I'm familiar with all this, and I just want my dog. Give me my bill so I can pay and leave'. She then proceeds to tell me, 'oh, by the way, I tried to get his hip joints to pop while he was under, and I couldn't, so it's all good'. I damn near went through the ceiling at that point, and said 'I didn't bring him here to have his hips checked, I brought him here to be neutered!!!! Go get my dog!!!' I was so pi _ _ ed that they would deliberately try to cause harm to any dog, much less mine, in order to make an excuse for a very expensive cruciate ligament surgery. That act was nothing short of creating work and dollars for themselves! Cruciate ligament surgery is very hard on the dog and takes a long time to recover with very intense physical therapy!! I was sick that I had even taken my dog there, much less left him to be deliberately, potentially greatly hurt by these jerks - on purpose!! I paid my bill and left, vowing NEVER to return and to share my story with as many as possibly. They had absolutely NO REASON to even check his hips for anything; there was absolutely nothing wrong with him and I never gave them permission to try and 'pop his hip joints' under the guise of 'checking for bad knee joints'. This was a purposeful act to hurt my dog in order to bring themselves big dollars because even if he was a breed prone to having bad hips, I took him there to be neutered - not MAIMED!!! They were doing nothing more than trying to potentially create work ($$$$$$$$$$$$$) for themselves, and after seeing how they didn't have any concern for the little dog with the problematic backside that had been in their care before I got there to pick up my dog, I had no doubt they were deliberately trying to ruin my dog's knees! Ask yourself, why would they try to 'get his knees to pop' when I took him there to be neutered?? I'm having my dog's knees and elbows x-rayed for OFA certification next week (completely different vet practice), and if my dog was harmed by the previous vet's reckless and dangerous practices, I will never forgive myself for ever taking him there in the 1st place, and it won't be the end of this saga. read more

The doctors are good but the staff is horrible with animals and people. It is obvious that they are not comfortable with large dogs, i.e. 65lbs. In fact some of them are fearful, which is bad when working with animals who can sense such things. If you have a large dog go to Countryside Vetrinary, they will be welcomed with open arms. read more

This placee has the look of A nice place where they care mostly about the animals but really it is about the money they charge you for the consultation of course which is standard , but every time you take your pet in regardless if it is a follow up appointment it's $45 for the vet to look at your pet even if you just spent $500 the follow up visit they tell you they need you to come in and bring your pet is going to cost you an additional $45 they make appointments for 5 o'clock which is there last appointment and then rushing to get you through it and they don't do things right and that in the end will cost you more money because you have to go back in? read more

This is a great vet clinic. We went there once, after a bad experience with our usual clinic, and we were so impressed with Apple Valley. They are in Appleton and we are in Oshkosh, so we ended up going to a local vet due to distance, but Apple Valley is definitely a top choice for us. They have our cat's prescription food, which I couldn't find at any other vets office, and all I had to do was call and have them hold a bag for me. I cannot remember the vet we saw, but she was amazing. She was knowledgable, personable, and really kind. Their staff takes the time to answer all concerns and questions and they are all so friendly. They have clinic cats that are so loving and sweet. They tended to be a tad more affordable than our usual vet as well. We would go back for sure. read more

Apple Valley Vet is a great and highly professional vet in Appleton. Since taking my pets there in 2007, I haven't gone to any other vet since. Generally speaking, it's difficult to get same-day appointments unless it is an emergency, but I was always able to get an appointment with 2 or 3 days. Dr. Jain is an awesome vet, who is very knowledgable and friendly. Like all vets, Apple Valley vets are not cheap, but they seem to be right in the average when it comes to billings. Since bringing our pets there, we've never had problems with any of the staff, and they are very proactive with preventative measures, and send postcards (occasionally calling) to remind you of upcoming visits and procedures. I completely trust my pets to the staff of Apple Valley Vet. read more

Apple Valley Vet is just about as good as it can get - friendly staff, fair rates, and a convenient location. The most important thing (and the reason why I won't take my pet anywhere else), is that the docs at Apple Valley really take the time to help you understand exactly what they're doing and why. They don't make any moves without your "go ahead" and they understand that - as corny as it is - they are handling your baby when you take your pet there. I just took my cat there for a dental appointment - something that has affected him very negatively in the past - and I couldn't be happier. They gave me the option of having a test panel done prior to the procedure and promised to go as light as they could on the anesthesia (while still keeping the kitty comfortable) since there had been some complications before. They definitely took the time to listen to my concerns and worked with me so I felt confident in going forward. Also, they got my cat in the very next day for an appointment - you can't beat that! I took my doxen here to have his nails trimmed after calls to several places stating he is extremely nervous and finally i chose this place because they assured me they always deal with nervous dogs and are professional. my dog had his nails trimmed and the vet said he would have to be sedated next time and we went along our merry way. it was evident that my dog had pooped and peed himself because of his smell and i chalked it up to him being nervous and gave him a bath when i got home. before i put him in the tub my husband pointed out that a couple of his nails were bleeding. the next morning the police showed up at my house with an order for quarantine at my expense $100. according to the police officer he had bit an employee with a muzzle on. i didn't know it at the time but they had a high school apprentice restraining my super nervous dog...he didnt break the skin according to police. the officer as well as i thought it was odd that they never mentioned anything to me and they suggested i get a picture of the bite since it wouldn't be included in my request of a police report and to get their side of the story. So 24 hours after the incident i went in person and asked to see the bite and take a picture for my records and get their side of the story. The girl had a blood blister on her finger with no broken skin. I told them how upset i was about the situation and left. 15 minutes later i got a call from a Tessa yelling at me telling me not to step foot back in the office because i had 'threatened' her employees by stating i was going to write a negative review for everyone to see. they had since 330pm yesterday (24 hours) to call me and tell me what happened and never did. the cops randomly showed up at my house and per their suggestion i showed up in person to ask questions which is when the lead receptionist called me right afterwards to yell at me. I paid good money to be seen by a professional so why they had a young girl with very little experience restraining my dog idk. i understand it is her right to seek medical attention if she felt necessary and that is fine but all of this could have simply been avoided had they told me hey, your dog bit one of our employees she may or may not need medical attention and if she does legally your dog will be reported to the police/cdc and this is what you will have to do....but nope instead they let the cops randomly show up at your house and then call to yell at you when you stop in asking for a manager and answers to your questions. they could have told me before we left our appointment, they could have called and told me after the apprentice sought medical attention that evening, they could have called me the next morning, they could have called me the next afternoon and CRICKETS until i went in person to ask what was going on which is when Tessa their 'lead receptionist' called me shortly afterwards to yell at me. i suggest to be leary of this place and their complete lack of professionalism read more

Best experience I've had with a vet! Small place but great staff and wonderful customer service. If your new to town this place will make you feel welcome, I just moved here but this place made it feel more like home. My cat is pregnant and the vet examined her and said that an X-ray would make it possible to see how many and how far along. I've been taking my cat to Apple Valley since COVID started. They have been very professional in handling this difficult situation. Despite inconveniences, it was obvious there was much "behind the scenes" work in making sure things were safe and smooth for pets, owners, & staff. Last week my cat suddenly became ill, I called them first thing in the morning, and they were able to see my cat that afternoon in one of their sick pet appointments. If not, I would have understood and gone to an emergency center. I've used Blue Pearl in the past for other pet emergencies and they are very good. Unfortunately my cat had to be put to sleep, & while it was devastating, Dr Jain and staff were wonderful-- very informative & compassionate. It was obvious they cared, even though my cat hadn't been a client for very long, and this was the first time I had met them in-person. They allowed me to spend extra time saying goodbye to my cat, which I really needed. I'm grateful for how they helped my cat and me to get through such a difficult time. read more

We've been bringing our animals (2 cats and a dog) to Apple Valley for two years and up until recently I would recommend them to others. I'm extremely displeased with this clinic. I called to schedule an emergency appointment due to my dog not being able to keep food down for over 48 hours. I was advised the earliest I could be seen was the following day and it would be a normal appointment. The receptionist asked if I wanted to cancel my June appointment as they would have time to complete her annual exam. Great, I can figure out whats cause my dog to be sick and we can get her annual done... wrong! My husband showed up to her appointment to which they advised they never scheduled the appointment and only had the June appointment scheduled. When my husband advised I had called the prior day, he was told I must've called the wrong number because no one spoke to me. When I called back to find out what happened, they apologized for the inconvenience and told me they'd get us in the next day. Not only were they rude upon us coming to our appointment, they refused to give us the paper documents of our records saying "once you find a new vet we can email them." When it was voiced how unhappy we were with the experience we received and could we get a discount for the error on the clinics end, we were matched with "the services were rendered. Youre not getting a discount." I chose this clinic when we moved to Appleton based on reviews and them being voted best in the valley. I don't know how Apple Valley received this title because my experience is the absolute opposite. I can only hope they treat other better than we were treated. read more

This is by far the WORST vet clinic I have ever had the misfortune to patronize. They gave us a quote for our dog, we made an appointment, took the dog. received the services at a greatly inflated rate. They never called with heart worm results, and when we took him back for a booster, which we had already paid for, they charged us an additional $75. In total, we paid $238 for a check up, DHLPP, booster, and a heart worm test. When we complained to the vet about our displeasure, he denied speaking with us or giving us the initial quote and refused to refund the $75. NEVER, EVER go to this vet clinic read more

What a rip off!!! My female bulldog had puppies and on second day had no milk. Called my vet which is almost an hour away and they sent a script to Apple Valley Clinic. They charged me 60.00 for 5 cc of oxytocin( mind you a whole 100 ml bottle is 8.95!!!!) and two 69 cent syringes. Any vet clinic that would rip someone off that badly should be ashamed of themselves.
