I came in for a lunch drink and found that the place was packed so I sat at the bar. Come to find the BEST choice I could have made! The bartender kayleigh was AMAZING!!! She connects with her customers 4 at a time plus made drinks for the restuarant and handled food orders and had a smile the whole time! After talking with her I found out that she is a trainer which gives me great hope for the next one in line to learn how to be successful in the position as a bartender. I know better trust me. I simply wanted a drink after being in that sad mall for something I left at home. I ordered a drink. 5...10...15 minutes passed by at the bar while the bartender (not slammed) chatted with friends and co-workers. I was under the assumption that my request was out of stock and someone went to Bangkok to fetch it. When I kindly reminded the bartender he said "Oh I forgot!" He set the drink down and walked away. This is not service it's self service. Next what really blew me away was that he was chatting it up with his friends and co-workers about all of his 1-night stands. I mean really dude - you are not Tom Cruise in "Cocktail" and does the entire bar need to hear this? Unfortunately this was my 2nd time here and the same bartender screwed up my appetizer order while busy talking about his conquests. Where was management during this time. If you've ever been to any American "Bar and grill" type restaurants you probably know what you're getting into. Applebee's is pretty much average for the price range and quality. Lots of really horrible things for you on the menu. With that being said, I appreciate their foray into "heathier" items partnering with Weight Watchers. The group of friends I went with tended to get foods that would have absolutely wrecked my diet, including a huge appetizer platter, which I took a few bites of. It was not horrible food by any means, but your typical "safe" options, spinach dip, quesadilla etc. I did opt for a much more diet friendly salad..although many of their salads are NOT diet friendly so if this is a concern to you, check them menu's calorie counts. A half size salad was a decent portion and I considered it to be a large lunch. They did accommodate my no cheese on my berry and spinach salad, but forgot my "dressing on the side" request. Other than the spinach swimming in dressing, everything tasted fine, the veggies were certainly fresh enough and the grilled chicken was fine. This isn't a place I'd consider for a "date" or anything, especially since it's in a mall, but it's a good safe place to meet friends for a quick bite or a drink. read more

So my bf and I have ordered from Applebee's before and always had a good experience until tonight that is. I had placed an online order to be ready for a 530pm but I soon realized that this was a huge mistake. When I went in to pick up my order, understandably it was busy being that it's a Friday night. When I had placed my order I had paid with two gift cards and the small remaining balance I had left I paid with my credit card. So, I thought I could just grab my food and go but that was not the case when I'm still standing there 15 minutes later and the clueless hostess dude telling me I still owe 42 bucks. At that point I was irritated because I know the food is going to be cold by the time they can figure out their misunderstanding. When I looked in my bag of food I soon realized they forgot a sandwich I ordered along with my margarita. Not to mention the cluster of clueless hostesses standing around not doing anything but pissing off customers. One girl kept telling me to be patient and I'm sure it's easy for her to say that...it's not her money or gift cards being wasted, not to mention she is being paid to say that. I know I wasn't the only person there waiting for food that had been forgotten and I don't know if this was an off night for them but when the manager told me that when I placed my order much earlier they had actually prepared it then...I know shocker lol. I definitely won't try to have an order be placed early here again because obviously it's too hard for them to figure out. Never grew up with an Applebee's but just got some last week and it was pretty good. I got the fiesta like chicken which was nice, wish it came with a veggie though. IF I COULD GIVE THIS RESTAURANT no stars I WOULD. My family and I are usual returning customers that visit this location at least once a week. Tonight while sitting waiting for our meals a waitress Kayla was her name came over viciously ripping a drink out of my husbands hands while proceeding to push his hands off the drink and telling him to get his hands off instead of correcting him on the mistake he made of trying to switch his alcoholic beverage into a Normal cup so our 2 yr old daughter didn't continue to think his Mudslide drink was a milkshake and continue to try to drink it. Instead of pointing my husband in the direction of his action not being allowed she instead followed being very rough, nasty and extremely vicious. After the asking for the manager he proceeded telling us we were the ones in the wrong even after telling him it was not intended to be anything but innocent and only to keep our daughters eyes off it. He continued to tell us to take responsibility for our actions. The manager ended up lowering our bill but we still feel as if this was the upmost DISRESPECT and also PUBLICLY embarrassing as for the section we were sitting was packed with other customers. This was the absolute worst service I had ever encountered and we are super disappointed considering we visit this location at least once a week. My girlfriend and I ordered chips and and the 3 different dips as an appetizer and it took 30 minutes and arrived at the same time as our entrees which was very frustrating... I ordered my steak with mushrooms and onions (the waitress offered this) and I received a steak with shrimp and cheese (?). I sent it back and received another steak without mushrooms and onions and again had to send it back (this took about 15 more minutes for some reason?). My girlfriends fish was cold and dry like it was sitting at the window for a long time. I finally received my steak and the manager came out and tried to placate and act like my friend like a used car salesman when all I wanted to do was eat my steak ( I was pretty hungry at this point obviously). My steak was comped but it was overall a pretty frustrating experience and the waitress was kind of rude like she expected me to just eat and pay something I didn't order. Not going to this Applebee's again- terrible vibes, left annoyed and feeling like a jerk even though I was just politely asking for what I ordered! Just ledt applebees and the wait staff was great but the food was terrible. I had a bacon cheeseburger medium well. Fries were soooooo loaded in salt and pepper that even with my beer I could not finish them. The burger buns themselves were so greasy it's like they just toasted the buns on the same stove top or pan that the bacon was cooked in!! The burger dipped grease the whole time I ate it! The bottom bun was soggy, like mush when I picked it up. I still ate it because I saw how much the bill was and I wasnt not going to eat it and wait for them to fix their mistakes. My girlfriend had order a shrimp stir fry thing and the broccoli practically still had the stem on it!! The brocolli was super hard then they topped the whole thing with like a bucket of those onion things. She also found onion skin in her plate several times. We also ordered a combo appetizer. The spinach dip even though was really good you could tell it was microwaved and not fresh. The quazadillas were decent but the chicken inside you could tell was processed frozen chicken. the best things were our drinks! Definitely will not be going back until changes are made. It's not my usual dining establishment but man -- this place was on point yesterday! Went with a couple of friends, lured out by the promise of free appetizers for customer appreciation day was so very surprised at the delicious quality of the food but also affordability and friendliness of the staff. When we arrived there was a wait but we were greeted with menus and info on the free appetizers they were giving out. We were seated relatively quickly and it wasn't long after that our waitress, Natasha, came over and took our orders. She was super friendly and even pointed out we could combine some of our orders to get a free appetizer! (Applebee's runs a regular 2 entrees for $20 and get a free appetizer of which we were not aware of). The food was great, I got the grilled chicken with cranberry and green apple quinoa (highly recommend!), the apps were awesome (the siracha shrimp were my fave but the churros with chocolate and marshmallow were by far the favorite of the rest of the group). The restaurant and facilities were very clean but where we were sitting was under a vent and a little cool. Overall, I had my reservations about going to a chain restaurant (being spoiled by all the local establishments) but I throughly enjoyed my experience here! read more

Went to S. Burlington UMall Applebees for a weekday dinner with my wife and infant grand daughter. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful but the food quality so bad that I will try any and all other local restaurants rather than spend money at this restaurant again. Our diet Pepsi (no Coke) came in a dirty glass - sticky glue-like food or who knows what on the outside of the glass. No problem getting a clean replacement but my stomach was beginning to turn. Our $16.95 full rack of ribs was cold and reminded me of bad leftovers pulled from the fridge. I couldn't finish eating them - it was that bad. The fries were fries - warm, greasy and tasted fine. My wife's chicken apple walnut salad seemed ok and reasonably priced. The total bill was approximately $47.00 with the tip. What a waste of money - I went home and ate a real dinner. read more

There were three of us visiting Applebee's for dinner on this particular Thursday night... It was very slow... a lot of the tables were empty... This is worth mentioning: As we were sitting down, we were having a conversation about which restaurant was probably next to close in the Burlington area since so many were closing lately.... A couple of places were mentioned, but Applebee's hadn't been one... Anyway, Our waiter came over and took our drink order and brought our soda's a minute later. We then ordered our food. My boyfriend and I ordered pasta, his brother ordered chicken fingers I believe... 30 minutes go by, no sign of our food or waiter, and our soda's were empty and we were hoping for refills... I'll admit, we were getting a bit antsy at this point... Finally, after 35 minutes, a random server brings out my pasta and my boyfriends brothers' food, doesn't ask about our soda's or say anything about my boyfriends food coming out and walks away! hmm.. Okay, maybe our waiter is on his way out?? Naturally, we both wait to start eating until my boyfriends food arrives. I kid you not (and yes it may be strange that I kept track of time..), from 7:22 to 7:41, our meals sat there, getting cold while my boyfriend sat waiting for his pasta to arrive. Also, still no refill's on our soda's, no server's checking on us at all... I am beginning to think "Are we being punk'd right now?!?!" while looking around for camera's.. lol.... I get up and ask the nearest server if they knew what was going on and to maybe help us with soda refills... She then runs back to the kitchen... and magically!!! Out she comes with my boyfriends pasta!!! What a miracle... We then see our waiter walking over with our soda's.. FINALLY! We hadn't seen him in at least an hour! The food was of course, cold.. We ate what we could and asked for the check.. WHAT A NIGHT! They even charged us for my boyfriends meal!! I've tended to avoid Applebee's for a full dinner/lunch lately as I'm always disappointed. The menu is very ho-hum since it seems they just do goofy things with staple meals of chicken or beef. The appetizers aren't bad but they aren't amazing either. The wait service is OK, they seem to be attentive and friendly. Seating never really requires much of a wait. The bar service is capable but not overly friendly. The beer selection isn't bad and they offer a large glass if you're expecting to be there for "the long haul". It's very much a chain experience plus they plopped this thing in the mall so you get a bunch of shoppers with kids in tow which isn't such a bad thing if you don't mind an ambiance of noise. read more

I was looking forward to spending an evening with my family by sharing a meal at Applebee's. We haven't been in a while and wanted to go. When we got there we were greeted and sat at a high top. We wanted a booth and told the hostess and she then rudely said okay and brought us to an open booth. We were then greeted by our waitress who seemed nice at first. We ordered our drinks and food and everything was going fine. After the fact I changed my mind on what I ordered and told our waitress. She was not being helpful and was just lacking any skills that made me feel comfortable. After trying to force my new order onto the waitress she told me that my food might come out a little later than everyone else's. Then some minutes later my burger that I ordered came out before anyone's else's meals. This was just weird to me and so I awkwardly had food in front of me that I was waiting to eat while I waited for everyone else's food. By this time we had not received out artichoke dip appetizer which the waitress said she would get right away. Then we finally got out appetizer after we had finished our meals and the chips were so salty that I had to scrape off the salt. The waitress did take the dip off of our bill which was nice, but overall it was not a good experience. The staff is not very friendly and didn't make me feel comfortable there. Was here yesterday and wasn't disappointed. Got the 4 cheese mac n' cheese with chicken and my brother got an all-day breakfast burger. Food was great, tables were clean, my only complaint is that it seems a bit slow to get seated and for your server to come to the table the few times I've been here. When I originally thought about Applebee's for lunch, I have to admit, I was quite hesitant. I haven't had the best of experiences, particularly with an experience I had at one of their competitors. However, I was in for a delightful surprise. We were seated promptly and our server, Meghan came right over and struck up the friendliest of conversations. She was well-versed in the menu and knew all of the drinks well. The drinks came out right away and the cocktail shaker was left at the table for me to continue pouring at my leisure. And I have to say that they make an excellent margarita! The meals didn't take long after that. We ended up purchasing their lunch deal. The portions were def. on the small side, but the Club Sandwich was out of this world! As we were enjoying our meal, the manager was walking around and came over and started talking with us about our plans for the day and how our food was. It's so refreshing to see management interacting with the guests and not only soliciting feedback but also just showing genuine care for the customer. Anyways, after the stellar experience, I think I may have found my new lunch spot and look forward to many more delicious lunches at Applebee's. read more

The Applebee's is one of favorite places. The menu is always changing, good deals for a couple to eat and over all I like the vibe of this place! Now being in a mall the wait can be sorta long. Then again if your on a long wait you can just go walk around the mall while you wait! So its not really a problem! The service is very good! I find the servers to be nice and even let you take your time with the new menu but come back to check in to see if your ready to order! The many times I have been here the servers know the menu pretty well and it helps out if you have questions. The food doesnt take to long to come out either! Its always been cooked right and any changes I have asked for have always been made. The manager Tim seems to be very nice as well! He talks to his customers! Applebee's has always been one of my favorite restaurants growing up. I used to go often with relatives and friends to celebrate or just go out to eat. It has been a while since I've gone and tonight when I went for what must be the first time in months, I was deeply upset at how much the place had changed. What used to be a place I loved for its great hospitality and service has fallen into a place where I see employees on their cell phones, bartenders arguing with waitresses, and slow service. I ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri which took 10 minutes for the bartender to make. As I was seated close to the bar, I watched the bartender completely ignore our waitress pleading with him to make the drink while he talked to coworkers. When I got the drink, it was overly sweet so I asked for a new one. The waitress took it back without apologizing. When our food came (which took way longer than it should take to make three sandwiches), my oriental chicken wrap did not have the fried chicken that usually accompanies it. When I asked our waitress, she said we don't usually put fried chicken in. This was strange to me, since every time prior I had been asked by the waitstaff which kind of chicken I would prefer. My wrap was also taken back without an apology and took another 15 minutes to make. My family was already done eating when it arrived. I will not be returning to this restaurant again. One positive thing I will say is there was one waitress who helped bring the food to the table that was phenomenal. While our waitress seemingly didn't care about our concerns, this young lady was very apologetic and even went to ask the kitchen how long it would take to get another. She checked in to make sure we were all set and happy. I wish I could have gotten her name, because she deserves to be acknowledged. read more

Our party of three from Canada visited Burlington for a two day trip to enjoy the fall sights and sounds of Vermont. We ate at Appleby's in the mall upon arrival in late afternoon. After waiting toooooo long for our meal which finally arrived we headed back to our hotel room and one of our party members became sick during the evening and believed it was the results of the salad she ate here. The next morning she wasn't feeling any better especially since being awake all night visiting the bathroom. No we didn't have any alcohol. We felt it best to cut our visit short and head back to Canada because our sick friend also had a heart condition and we believed it best to head home due to lack of medical insurance coverage . Never did get to enjoy our visit to Burlington, my wife visited Mace's that was it. I have eaten at Applebee's many times in my previous visits to the U.S. it was one of my favourite eateries. I may still eat there again but not at this one in Burlington in the mall. read more

applebees burlington use to be one of my wife and i favorite places for lunch after church on sunday until recently. a couple sundays ago while we were trying to enjoy our lunch it was interupted by a confruntation a heavy set red head manager was haveing with a smaller woman who appeared to be a manager type as well. the smaller woman was clearly upset and disturbed by this public humility in front of guests. they moved to the back area but the way the bigger woman was treating the smaller in front of us by the bar was enought o change our sunday lunch spot. the food and restruant itself is great. mr. smithers (who did nothing when my wife made me call it in) was rude and very unhelpful in resolveing our disturbance of that day. read more

The first time I came here I had a wonderful experience the waitress came right away and was super nice and polite. My steak took awhile but that was understandable since they were a little busy and I wanted my steak well done. The experience and the food made me want to come back again. So I did. The second however the service left a bitter taste in my mouth. I was seated and had to wait over 15 minutes to be serve. I would have been okay with it had it been busy but it was not. The waitress didn't bring water she didn't greet me she just completely ignored me. When I tried to get her attention she just walked by me. I don't know if it was either because I was Asian(I known Asians aren't the greatest tippers) or she just couldn't see me, but I was pissed. And when I looked around for her, she was standing in the back talking to the other waitstaff! WTF? I was just super pissed, but I was really hungry. I have been to this particular Applebee's restaurant MANY times and never had a problem until... I went a couple of weeks ago and was incredibly disappointed. I am the type of person who falls in love with a meal, so I consistently get the same meal every visit. I ordered a meal containing chicken, and as soon as I bit into it, I knew it was off. The meat had a rubbery texture to it. I couldn't eat more than one bite. The waiter didn't seem to pay much attention to me not eating my meal... so I got the attention of a manager as he passed by. He tried to have a quiet conversation at the table and he informed me that this is a very common complaint because they recently switched over the new chicken. He did take my meal off the ticket, which was great! The waiter then acknowledged it when we were paying and made the same comment about the "new" chicken. My partner ordered a meal with chicken pieces in it, but didn't notice the texture as well as I did (since mine was full breast). A few hours later, we both got incredibly sick and it was clear that we had food poisoning for the next day or so. Clear to say, I have not gone back since and I have no intentions to.
