This review is after eating there about 10 times. The food is usually hit or miss. But here's my experience from my last visit a couple of weeks ago. Ordered a grilled cheese burger. The bread was burnt black on one side. Literally burnt. How the cook was ok to send that out is beyond me. Even my waitress was like "WTH" when I showed her. So I sent it back. The next one that comes out the sandwich was barely grilled at all. The cheese wasn't even melted. I guess the cook couldn't figure it out or was just being a jerk because I sent the burnt one back. Either way, if the cook doesn't take pride in their work, why are they back there cooking? Wish I had remembered to take some pics. You readers would've had a good laugh. The two stars is for the wait staff and the bartender who are always very nice and actually seem to care about the quality of their work. read more

It's Applebees. You never go in with high expectations. My boyfriend and family dined here for dinner. We were a small group of 5. They ordered oriental chicken salad, steak and shrimp, and three cheese chicken penne. All was enjoyed. I ordered a new dish. I ordered the hot honey glazed chicken skillet. It was good, but I wasn't getting any hot honey. It came with waffle fries that ended up loosing their crisp from the skillet. Service was alright. Service was the best I've had in a while !! I took a look at the review before I typed and saw it's less than 3 stars. To be honest there is a person there that should be working in their worst times in order to brighten folks day. I believe his name was Neville , tall curly dark hair fellow. He was extremely nice and warm and was so kind to my family even my 2 years old. This is an attitude you don't expect from a man so young in these times. I will come back for lunch if ever at Munsons Corner again. The food, we'll it's Applebee's so it's the same now as it is in most places. On Thurs Jan 9 2025 around 6 pm we ordered 3 items from this Applebee's through DoorDash, 2 Irresti-bowls and a dessert. We had just driven 2 hours over snow covered roads to move my college student into her new empty apartment. DD delivered the order in a timely manner, my bowl and the dessert were fine but the $17+ bowl had only shrimp and iceberg lettuce, literally nothing else (see pic). The DD app would give me only a 4.71 credit. Just ridiculous. My kid was starving after packing, driving and unpacking, so I gave her half of mine. DD drivers are sometimes accused of eating some of their deliveries, but this bowl was not warm/oily from the rice like mine was so no rice had been put in nor any of the other toppings. Service at the table was brilliant. The bar, where we had a cocktail before sitting, was not. The promo tents said "if we do not recommend a specialty drink you get one for free." I pointed this out to the bartender when paying our tab. She said she was aware, hated those things & if I wanted a free drink she'd make one. I see some reviews of this place and I think they should be deleted.... I work here in town and stop frequently. I once again had the sirloin for lunch today. I always come here for a steak and that is perplexing even to me. I go to steak houses and pay $30+ for a steak and send it back because they cannot seem to mail the temp. This has never once happened here, always tasty and cooked exactly how I want it. Most times I order Pittsburgh (black and blue) sometimes just rare, and today medium rare. Of the 30+ times I have been here, never once has my steak been off, under seasoned or not exactly the temp I asked for. Service is good, staff friendly, facility clean, beer cold and food is surprisingly good for a large commercial chain.... Great job folks, see you for lunch next week! read more

Went here for my last meal during my Cortland NY trip. Service was great and fast, even tho place was packed there wasn't a long wait for a party of 7 only around 10-15 mins. Menu had great deals 1 appetizer with 2 entrees for $20. I order the boneless wings app with the 2 entrees being 4 layer chicken mac n cheese and 8oz Sirloin. Took aound 10 mins for apps to come out and around 35 mins for the 7 entrees to come out, again not bad for being really packed. The 8oz sirloin was burnt a little but add more flavor to the steak. Other food was great, lots of different flavors throughout all of the meals. Service was also great very nice and fasted for being a full house place. I Recommend this place if your in the area and want to go out for a meal with your family. read more

I am really surprised that the food was horrible because all the other Applebee's I've been to has tasted exactly the same. I got the 2 for $20 for myself: Fiesta Lime Chicken and Riblets. The rice tasted like it was made with dirty dish soap which made me almost gag. The riblets were charred to the bone which sucked because they were already so small. I spent over $20 to munch on some Spinach & Artichoke Dip and fries. Very disappointing. Service was great and I feel so bad writing this review because I mostly use Yelp to rave about restaurants/experiences. But the food has been giving me horrible stomach aches and I probably won't come back to this specific location. read more

If it wasn't for our host we would still be waiting for our food! We have been here well over 2 hrs, our waitress disappeared and our food was never delivered until we asked our host to help look into it. Our host came back with our food because it was sitting there who knows how long and it was ice cold. I had to clear our own table to make room. The food was cold and some incorrect and I had to go get the manager myself because no one was available to help. Turns out our waitress was reassigned to the carry out door and we were abandoned and then the manager tried to excuse it as lack of help. Her idea of apologizing was making excuses and taking a little bit off the $200 bill. I had to negotiate for an acceptable compensation and it took two different discussions to actually get the corrections executed because she was too busy to just take care of it, which made us there even longer!! Poor management will not destroy this place because it's the only real chain restaurant in the town, but it will decrease their sales and number of return visits and people will definitely consider somewhere else as an option. Didn't expect much and didn't get much. Waited 5 minutes to be seated while staff was chit chatting and cleaning the floor. Food was eh. Salty, from frozen, not mouth watering like on the commercials. Waitress was friendly then disappeared. Next waitress was out there in the twilight zone with blank stares and difficulties communicating and was relieved by the original waitress who provided good service from that point on. Look, servers are friendly and booths are comfortable to sit in. I have nothing against friendly people who work here. But the food? Avoid Applebee's, if you are a vegetarian. There are very few options for us - just 4 items: 1. tomato basil soup (it's fine if you are craving for hot and creamy ) 2. French onion soup (horrible - go to Rex's, their French onion soup is much better ) 3. some kind of pretzel with dip (dry and terrible) 4. huge, expensive, doughy and tasteless plate of onion rings (I thought I ordered it as a side and got slapped with $8 bill for an enormous plate of inedible onion rings) - the onion rings have hardly any onions it's all doughy and terrible - nothing like real nice fried stuff you get from festival stands I don't know what else out there for me to eat here. Did I miss anything? There may have been french fries, mozz sticks, or something, pretty dry and tasteless, too. likely fried straight out of frozen bag. In this day and age where the rest of the world is becoming increasingly aware of the link between our industrial animal meat production and climate change, Applebee's and the similar corporate chains remain desperately dumb, stupid and dimwitted .... Go to these chain stores if you want to be the part of the Ignorant. Not for me. My hard-earned money goes to small local organic farms and establishments that are ecologically aware and provide me with better-tasting meals. I don't care for TV screens. I'm not a kid and I won't be fooled by glitz of their decor for the poor quality of their "disposable" food. OMG, food should NEVER be disposable. But when it is so terrible ... Went there last Saturday with my boyfriend. All around terrible trip! The waitress was nice that was about the only good thing. I got a fruit punch. Came out tasted like water. He ordered the salmon and it was sooo undercooked the middle was completely raw and pink. Then we ordered desert and in the brownie was a long piece of hair. I will probably never go back to this place after that visit. And we waited about 20 minutes for all that disappointment. read more

Went in for lunch at approximately 1pm on a Wednesday and there were maybe 15 people there. Hostess was very pleasant, seated me and my waitress was there immediately and was also very pleasant and very talkative. She explained some new items to me and got my drink order. I ordered andy burger and salad were out on I'd guess 10 minutes. The salad was extremely small but tasty. The burger was the same, very good tasting but was 80Percent bun. My bill was approx$17. I know, it's just a friggin Applebees, but this one rubbed me the wrong way. it's probably really just our waiter's fault. it started with my drink, a bad place to start trouble with me. I asked for some special Margarita they had, my need for the nectar of the Blue Agave speaking loudly to me. Do I want salt on my rim? he asks. Of course I say. Some time later he brings me my 'Rita, but says it doesn't come with salt?! I don't even know what that means. Could I have paid extra for the salt? Does their freakin barkeep know how to make a margarita? A big strike one. Strike two is the friggin waiter starts to tell me, Debbi Faye and Melissa Leigh his freakin life story; where he went to school, where he's going in the fall, etc., etc., etc.. We didn't want to be rude but we were trying to have our own conversation. Now both ladies are extremely attractive, but that's no excuse. Third big strike is he asks if we want desert. Missy tells him she'll take some sundae thing to go as we're in a bit of a hurry with a movie to catch. So I say bring us the check as well at the same time. He brings the sundae and says the check will be right up. So we wait and we wait and we wait some more. Meanwhile Melissa has just about finished her sundae. Finally the manager brings us our check ? and starts to tell me about some survey or something.....lady I don't give a f*** about this I just want to leave! She can't take my credit card though, no our waiter from hell has to do that. Worst Applebees ever. read more

I have two major complaints about this Applebee's. The first was how rude the waitress was after I ordered a margarita. She never asked if I wanted salt. She kept pressuring me to order two since I was with my mother, but she was driving home late at night. When it did arrive, it looked more like a martini and tasted more like a cranberry vodka. I called her back over and explained the situation to her. Rather than take it back and see what could be done, she continued to argue with me about the drink. I didn't drink it, but still had to pay for it. On the same evening, my mother and I also got food poisoning from the restaurant. Not a great way to start or end the evening. Very disappointing as there are not that many restaurants in Cortland to eat at. read more

Our waitress was more concerned with the single men and the attention they were giving her than doing her job. It took her 45 minutes to bring our food to us. In fact, people came in and sat at the table next to us, we had already ordered when they came in. They had almost finished their meal when ours finally came out. We didn't order anything special or hard. We ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas, that are supposed to come out sizzling. We watched and listened to others get theirs that way, but ours didn't make a sound I'm sure she knew we weren't happy with her service by the tip we left her. The TIP is supposed to reflect the gratitude for the service provided. That is why she only received 25 cents. read more

There are plenty of other local establishments that deserve your patronage. The hostess was polite, met us at the door and let us in. Seated right away and the server was attentive. The food however was mediocre at best. My 7 yr old loves her Kraft Mac n Cheese so she had no complaints. The apple wedges were a very small portion and my 4 yr old's grilled cheese was very greasy with an off putting after taste. I know this because I ate if for him since he refused to eat it. My lunch combo was disappointing. The Three-Cheese Cavatappi was lacking in cheese and flavor. I was saddened by the quality of my tomato basil soup. I can only think that it was must have been left in a soup warmer for too long and was cooked down to the constancy of pasta sauce with a unpleasant flavor to match. This eating establishment was subpar to say the least. Apparently you can't change the channel on any of their 45 televisions to watch a WNBA game and support young women fulfilling their dreams of playing professional basketball. I inquired about such a request and was laughed at as if it were a joke, which it hardly was. My food was exquisite but the tablet technology on the table was distracting and you have to pay to play the games. I'm already paying too much for the food, why should I pay to play a cross word puzzle on a tablet that doesn't move from the end of the booth? After being contacted by Danielle and Blaze about our bad experience we had, we decided to give it another try. We placed our order and showed up on time. A young woman came right out with our food almost as soon as we parked. As we arrived it was very busy so we were quite pleased with the speed of service. When we arrived back home with our to-go order we continued to be pleased. The food was fresh and warm, cooked perfect, and tasty. After such a bad experience our local Applebee's certainly made it right and delivered a satisfying meal. I am all about second chances and this Applebee's is worth it. read more

I've never had any issues at this Applebee's. The sampler platter is my favorite. You cannot go wrong ordering the spinach artichoke dip. Their four cheese mac and cheese with chicken tenders meal is my new favorite. I also like their club sandwich and salad combo when dining in for lunch. Our waitress was so unbelievably rude. We complimented her nails and she was still super unfriendly. When we tried to help her gather the plates she snapped, "not that plate". She also didn't offer us gift cards until after we got our checks, technically we were entitled to receive free mozzarella sticks but since she was so unapproachable we did not feel uncomfortable asking her. Horrible! Horrible Horrible!!!! I had never gone to Applebee's before and I was visiting from Los Angeles and decided to try it since there's not much in town. The experience was the worst ever! First we order our drinks and specifically asked for no ice and when my drink was brought it was over half full of ice. I didn't think much of it, but when our server took our order, my fiance was deciding which of two plates to get and the server was so rude trying to rush us. Instead of maybe recommending one over the other, she just rolled her eyes, and said she'd be back when we're ready, we said no (we were starving) and he chose one. When he had to pick a side and was looking at the options, again she said she'd come back when we were ready, but he chose one and that was done. Well to make matters worse, when I got my plate (some pasta with chicken) all the chicken was cold! The chicken must have been frozen and when it was put in the plate, the whole middle was still frozen. The pasta was cooked but all the chicken in the plate wasn't fully warmed. I was waiting for our server to come but she was nowhere, and I just didn't even eat. When she finally came around, everyone else was done eating and I didn't bother saying anything. I figured I would do the survey on the receipt and let Applebee's deal with. I did the survey, and I never heard anything from Applebee's, so they obviously they don't pay any attention to what their customers say. This was back in November (four months ago) and I don't expect to hear from them. I just will never go to another Applebee's again, that was the first and last time for me. read more
