Lukewarm Velveeta poured over completely unseasoned shredded chicken, brown guacamole that looked like it had been sitting out too long, and everything about it felt rushed -- like it was thrown together in two minutes without a second thought. The emphasis was clearly on quantity over quality. Her chicken sandwich wasn't any better -- bland, unseasoned, and somehow still had the pattern from the frozen packaging imprinted on the bottom. That's not a great sign. Bottom line: nice place to grab a drink. But unless you're already inebriated and not paying attention, I'd skip the food.

Many restaurants in town had long waits, so I was pleasantly surprised when we were able to walk right in... until I realized the place was nearly empty. There were two men playing pool and a couple of people sitting at the bar, and everyone seemed surprised to see us walk through the door. Our server was friendly and told us to sit anywhere. When I asked why it was so quiet, she explained it was the slow season. We looked over the menus and tried ordering chips and guacamole--only to learn they were out of guacamole. Next, we tried mozzarella sticks--also unavailable. As we looked for a third option, my son asked if their chicken wings used a dry rub. The server said she'd check with the cook... and went over to ask one of the guys playing pool. She returned to tell us he was not only the cook but also "a very good pool player." We then noticed no one in the restaurant had food in front of them, the air had a dingy smell, and the whole atmosphere felt off. At that point, we decided not to stay. Back in the car, I checked Yelp again and realized most of the glowing reviews were from five years ago. This might have been a great spot in the past, but based on our experience, it seems it's no longer the vibrant local hangout it once was. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

Order something off the menu."* Shocked by such an unprofessional response, I remained calm and respectful, yet the situation escalated further. The bartender threatened to call the police on me for no reason--simply because I requested a drink. Then, without cause, the bouncer Eric aggressively grabbed me, thrashing me around and refusing to let go, even though I repeatedly and calmly told him to release me. Despite being completely non-confrontational and not being violent back, he continued to manhandle me in a way that was completely unnecessary and unacceptable. He was so aggressive that he broke one of my nails and injured my wrist. It was obvious that I was being targeted and mistreated because I am a Hispanic woman--if I had been a man or accompanied by one, I highly doubt I would have been treated this way. After filing a police report, I was informed by law enforcement that this establishment already has a bad reputation for being discriminatory. This speaks volumes about how they operate and how little they care about treating people with basic dignity and respect. This was an obvious case of discrimination and assault, and I will be pursuing legal action. I strongly urge anyone--especially women and minorities--to avoid this place at all costs. No one deserves to be treated this way.

It's one of those weekends where you get to step into your kid's world a bit and actually see why they love it here.
