I remember going to Perkins when I was a kid. They have all closed on Long Island, and I haven't been in forever. My family came here after a funeral service. We called ahead and asked if they seat a party of about 20 people. It was Super Bowl Sunday and the manager said it wouldn't be an issue. We had a private room to ourself and our waitress was a real rockstar. She handled our large party perfectly and everything came out without error. I don't remember her name, but she was great. Everyone ordered all different things. I heard a lot of people saying it was good. I'm a child and I had chicken fingers and had fries and Mac and cheese as my sides. They were good. Stopped in last night for late dinner and there was no one to seat us. We discovered a server sleeping at a front booth who was startled by us looking to be seated. The restaurant was unbelievably dirty. We were stepping on food all over the floor and appears as though a food fight had occurred. Our table was not clean and had sticky spots as did the booth we were seated in. The restaurant had a foul smell, which we attributed to the filthy carpet and apparent lack of any cleaning in the last 6 months? We decided to leave after being seated concerned that if the dining room looked and smelled that poorly, what was the kitchen like?!! My husband and I had a wonderful breakfast here. We had been to Perkins for dinner lots of times in Florida, but finding this little gem so close to home was a real treat. Although it was a busy Saturday morning we didn't have to wait long at all to be seated and our friendly waitress took our order shortly after. I had the French toast, which was delicious. As owner of a b&b this is a popular item on my menu and Perkin's French toast was light and not at all greasy. My husband had the Magnificent 7 and he enjoyed that as much as I did mine. After a great Halloween morning at school, you and a few friends decide to go out to brunch at a local Restaurant/Diner. Perkins was the perfect option for the occasion. As we walked in, the restaurant gave a cozy feeling that seemed to resemble an 80's diner. We were instantly seated and served. The waitress had her hands full, as she was the only one on duty. She did a great job balancing each table while keeping everyone happy. The fried pickles were an excellent starter to choose. Subsequently, the Apple-Wood smoked bacon and pancakes weee also very good. I am unsure as to why I ordered pancakes, given the fact I don't like them, however they would be very good option for for the majority of people who like them. With all of the options to eat. the star of the brunch was definitely the fries. They were salted and fried to the point of perfection. The food in general was pretty reasonably priced as well. All in all, the experience definitely deserved a solid 4 star. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone, especially the old folks. read more

We had a delicious breakfast here yesterday with EXCELLENT service. Today, we came in expecting the high standard of service we received yesterday only to be met with a server named C*****a with a SOUR and UNWORKABLE attitude. This server told us that we werent here yesterday (I have the check to prove otherwise!) and that we were served items that we shouldnt have been served. When we told her what we wanted, and checked in the kitchen for a la carte pricing, she missed the fact that we had asked for bacon on the order and then told us we didnt ask for that. The window treatments are dirty the window sills are dirty floor is always dirty. We had to ask for water and silver ware and it worn and old I was grossed out thinking if this is the presentation how dirty must the kitchen be. Had an excellent waitress, Kaylona, for a group of 13 of us. The food was good, although my meal was not hot -- probably because of all the orders the one waitress was having to deliver on her own. Still, the food was good. I had been told on the Facebook page a few weeks ago that for groups, they prefer reservations over just showing up. I called a day ahead and set everything up from group size to time arriving, but today when we arrived, we were told they do not take reservations. I have no idea what accounts for the conflicting information. There were two staff people, including our waitress, who scurried around and did the best they could to keep us together as a group. The husband and I were on our way to NYC for the weekend. We had left Buffalo around dinnertime and drove several hours before realizing that we were starving. We discovered this Perkins restaurant and hurried in just under an hour before they were set to close. I don't like to be the one who does that to a restaurant, but our choices were going to funnel down to late-night fast food, and honestly, I'd rather starve. So here we were, walking into a practically empty restaurant. We were greeted after a minute and sat down. The server was incredibly friendly and peppy for being at the end of her shift. She gave us a moment to look over the menu. There is a wonderful selection available! If you feel like scrambled eggs and bacon at 9pm, you can order that! (I mean, I wouldn't because I don't eat those foods, but figuratively speaking...) We didn't want anything too heavy since we still had a few hours of driving ahead of us. We found the lunchy combos and decided that those items were perfect. You can pick two items (or three if you pay more) from their selection of soups, salads, and half-sandwiches. Husband got the BBQ chicken sandwich with a salad. I can't remember which salad he chose, but he really liked them both. He originally wanted a soup but they had already dumped them for the night. The server was super apologetic. I also ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich with a tex-mex salad. (Forgive me if these are not the actual names of the menu items. You would know what I meant if you looked at the menu though.) Even though we follow a plant-based diet, our options were limited and we decided that a chicken sandwich would not be the worst thing we could have chosen off the menu. The sandwich was incredible. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the BBQ sauce was sweet, French fried onions added a little crunch, and there was a cheese sauce on top that just tied everything together. It was a drippy, sticky, sandwich...the best kind, if you're talking BBQ! The salad was good as well. It had some grilled chicken, corn, black beans, avocados, and a dressing on the side. It didn't blow me away, but it was good. Our server came back several times to check on us. She was so pleasant. We definitely left with a smile. The only reason I docked a star is for the following: -Dumping the day's food before the restaurant is closed. Look, I don't know the inner workings of restaurants, but I do feel as though the food should stay ready for diners until the doors are locked. -The bathroom lights were off and there is no switch! I wanted to use the ladies room before we hit the road again. When I walked in, the lights were off. I assumed they were motion sensing so I walked in farther. Still pitch black. I felt around for a light switch and there wasn't one! So I slipped out and had to use the men's room while my husband stood watch at the doorway. That was awkward. Thankfully no men had to use the restroom while I was in there, so at least it didn't get weird! I believe be young lady is names Rikki and her name tag labels her as Head Hostess but the girl seemed to be irked that we were coming in to breakfast and had the nerve to hope shed give us a seat. OK...So I walked into the restaurant at 9pm, by myself and the first thing the hostess said was it was going to be 40 minutes before I would get my meal because there were so many larger tables waiting for their food. She went on to say they close at 10. I guess I had that shocked look on my face...but she was persistent on convincing me to leave. Obviously she had someplace to go at closing and she doesn't appear to like her job. I told her that I still wanted a seat and she was not happy. Amazingly there was a large soccer tournament in town...I was going to 7call and have the rest of the team join me. I will say my server (Nicole) was very pleasant and apologized f9or6 her. She was a very good server and attentive . Food was decent Perkins food and didn't take 40 minutes. Come to find out the hostess is also the night manager. Stopped in here on 9/2 looking for something to eat and we were pleasantly surprised. My husband is a retired chef, so he can be a bit picky. I have only been in a Perkins once. The one near my house is very mediocre. So, I wasn't expecting much when we pulled off the highway to eat here. Our waitress was outstanding -- friendly, competent and attentive. The place is very clean, and all of the food was very good. We stopped in for lunch. Very reasonable prices. Even the bathrooms were clean. Still not going back to my local Perkins, but I would stop at this one any time! This is a popular place so on anything like a special occasion (Mother's /Father's day) it fills up pretty quickly. My wife and I go there several times a year both for breakfast and for dinner and I don't remember our ever having any problems except for fairly minor service glitches. The food is always good. They have a sausage and biscuit sandwich for breakfast that is as good as any I've ever had and I've eaten down South a lot and am a big fan of sausage and biscuit sandwiches so that's saying something. You get two at a time and they'll fill you up all by themselves. I usually take one of them home if I have any hope of eating any of the rest of my breakfast. The muffins, pastries, and pies that they sell are terrific and we often get a few muffins to take home. The pies are a bit expensive as I recall but the one time I got one I loved it. read more
