Of the chain restaurants I rate Applebees pretty high, that is in New York. Always great service and fresh delicious foods with many options for a great price! Well today I went to a local Applebee's Grill & Bar (Davenport, FL), and it was a train wreck! From the dirty menus to the disgusting gloppy, poorly cooked food, the only thing that was great was the bright, happy personality of the front hostess, Aude! Our waiter David was just ok, with a very blah personality. I started with the chicken tortilla soup that I love in the North, here it is was a mess! Overloaded with tortilla strips I could hardly find my soup! Onto the Southwestern Steak Salad that I was very excited to try turned to dismay because each and every piece of steak was so tough, I could not even chew them! I really doubt the steak was hand cut USDA top sirloin since the taste, look and texture deemed it inedible! Along with this catastrophe, there was hardly any corn and black bean salsa! The dressing on the greens was way to much and did not taste like the cilantro ranch dressing, basically it was very bland! I asked for the manager to come over since this dish should never have left the kitchen. The manager Tim commiserated with me and whisked the dish away and took my order for a different dish. Unfortunately, the "New" Caprese Mozzarella chicken was not that much better, with tough chicken, too much onion and a dish that was gloppy and disgusting. I gave up at this point! My partners Chicken breast with Mozzarella sticks on top with mashed potatoes was just alright. Nothing great and the marinara sauce tasted off. Now I understand why this location has only two stars, I have to agree and hope the area manager makes changes ASAP to bring this Applebees up to the standard of New York Applebees. read more

For an Applebee's I can't complain. Twelve of us showed up for a late lunch with a split bill and the server was amazing. Very attentive. My complaint is that my club sandwich had BBQ sauce on it and not mayo. No, I didn't send it back as the server was hustling. read more

My email order confirmation stated that my order will be ready at 11:18 pm. I did not receive my order until midnight. My brownie was a tiny piece of brownie with melted ice cream. I asked for them to replace it and they gave me a small cup of ice cream. This place really need to be shut down. read more

We came in here for a quick and simple dinner while staying at the resort condos around the corner. We had the STRANGEST experience with our server. We were seated by a host very quickly after coming in, at a table very near the entrance. As we sat down, our waiter came over and said 'Go ahead and just sit wherever, no need to wait for help or anything' in kind of a sarcastic tone. We thought maybe he was trying to make a joke so we all politely chuckled. But then he continued to comment on it, saying something like "do whatever you want" and my sister, who's been living in England for a couple years said, trying to lighten the mood, 'well that's how we do it in England". The waiter replied "Well welcome to America honey". Again, we all chuckled, wanting to believe he was joking, even though he was pretty deadpan in his delivery. I wasn't sure if maybe he really thought we hadn't been seated, and maybe he didn't want more people in his section now or something. So I asked "we were seated by a host, weren't we?" to my family, who confirmed that we were. Then he stared at me and shouted "Hello!" and asked if I was ok, in such an aggressive way that my family and I finally erupted into roaring laughter from the tension. Maybe he's the kind of guy who likes to mess with people and make them uncomfortable, in which case he's in the wrong field. Or maybe he has a terrible sense of humor. He continued to make what I still think might have been awkward attempts at jokes, and we continued to be as polite as possible while also weirded out. Then, right in the middle of taking our order, he gestured to another server at the next table who walked over, and promptly 'passed' us on to him. It happened so quickly we weren't sure what was happening. We were totally relieved, since we didn't want to have to keep dealing with him either. The new waiter was very friendly and did a great job. Throughout the rest of the meal, the old server would loudly ask other tables if they liked him and make comments that we were missing out. So strange. The food was ok, a bit over salted, but we only had mediocre expectations to begin with, and the food served the purpose of being quick, filling, and leaving us without any dishes at the end of the long day. read more

I asked for a medium well steak and it was tough and fatty , side of broccoli was just 4 pieces of broccoli which were small . I be been on hold for over ten minutes now as I'm writing this . We placed an order over the phone for a pickup for 2 people at a certain time. When we got there, they couldn't find the order, as they misplaced it under the wrong order. I asked for no onions on my sandwich and I got onions, the French fries were very soggy and lukewarm, they forgot to include the money mustard I requested, and the French onion soup wasn't even a filled-cup amount. The bread and cheese for the French onion soup came separate from the actual broth. But because the soup was lukewarm, neither incorporated/melted into the broth. It cost an exorbitant $5.99. Probably the worst Applebee's in the Orlando area. They never have enough servers. The food is either overcooked or cold. We have gotten takeout twice and we got screwed over with wrong or missing food both times. The managers really don't seem to care either and it shows. We have dined here a few times when we were looking for take out. Of the four times we ordered take out three of the orders have had something missing. When we brought it to the managers attention, they offered a voucher for a free burger. Have found the burgers to be flat - burnt and not especially tasty. Called for a Togo order the person answered the phone swearing at people. All I could here was her cussing then answered rudely to me. She didn't want to take my order. Kept trying to get me not to order. Very rude. Ended up not ordering because she told it would $60 for 3 things, 2 burgers and another meal which added up to $35. We were so dissatisfied & disappointed with our experience. The service was less than satisfactory. Our order was extremely delayed for no customers in the restaurant. March 13th. 5pm to almost 730pm. Violet and Natalie are the worst managers of anything I have ever encountered in my entire life. Put them back at the host stand or behind the bar because they have no business being responsible for anything of importance. Steak was overcooked twice. Poor Justina did the best she could with the lack of help she had. I counted no fewer than 7 servers that did nothing to help during the "dinner rush". Absolutely terrible. Make Justina the manager. WOW WOW WOW! We always go to Applebee's when we are looking for a quick bite, and dont want to cook. We live right down the street and pop in a couple times a month. Food, drinks and service are alway solid! This last time we were there what a MESS!!! Bowls of soup were 1/2 way filled, i ordered a drink and my husband was undecided, so the bartender brought one for each of us (not 2-4-1 deals!). Tables, glassware, discarded food everywhere!!! It seems the wait staff had time to lean, but no time to clean. Several times no glasses were available for the bartender (we sat at the bar), and she just complained and would leave the bar. One daughter had chicken tenders and fries, standard restaurant quality, another had a burger and enjoyed it. My son had ribs, would not recommend. I had the lime chicken. Next listening to a server saying to our server that a old co-worker had covid and that they let her go. My friends and I came here from the Midwest on vacation, we decided to eat here since we came back to our resort late so it was one of the places that opened late night and something we were familiar with from home. When I say late, this was at about 9:10pm and there was no traffic in the restaurant on a Saturday night on 4/7/2018. There was 6 of us at the table only as well. 1. Our server didn't come over to take drink orders until 15mins after we were seated. 2. Once our order was taken at about 9:25pm. Our waiter disappeared for a while and did not check up on us at all! We had to use the "call waiter" on the table POS system to get his attention. We waited for an hour to get our food, which we got at 10:50. 3. Our table was not cleared properly as well with empty plates and drink glasses. We had to start placing empty items at the back rest top behind our seating bench. 4. There was a family of 4 that sat next to us 25mins after we were seated. They were not attended to at all, not even greeted by a waiter or waitress. The father was so furious he just took his family and left without saying a word to any of the staff and the manager did not even seem phased by it. 5. They had 4 people hardly working behind the bar, one of which was our waiter, the bar was not busy at all, there were only 5 people at the bar and there were at least 3-4 other waiters walking around. If you don't care about service, like waiting an hour for you food, not being attended to, this is definitely the spot for you. read more

Food was as expected for Applebee's. Not horrible, not great. Just meh. So no gripes there. But, the service was HORRIBLE. The place was nowhere near capacity and the service was still atrocious. Our server didn't introduce herself, so we never knew her name. She was not attentive AT ALL. She wrote down our orders yet still forgot items. Took an order for a drink, then notified us 25 mins later (still no food) that their blender was broken so they could not make it. 45 mins of sitting - still no food - no update. Mind you this is a virtually empty APPLEBEES not a fancy steakhouse. I really try to empathize with restaurant workers because I use to be one, so I know how challenging it can be. So I RARELY leave negative reviews. But these circumstances warranted it. We waited 20 minutes after being seated before being greeted by the waitress. We ordered 2 Big blue drinks (rum)- we watched them being made - but there was absolutely NO rum or other alcohol in them. The bottles of booze must have been very watered down. And a suggestion for the bartenders - when you see beers and drinks sitting waiting for the waiters - go ahead and take them to the table. I am sure both the customer and waiter would appreciate it. No one likes a Luke warm glass of beer. When we saw the waiters and waitresses - they were working - but would disappear - makes me wonder if they were short on cooks and they were helping in the kitchen. Either that or they were having a big party in the kitchen, because they ALL DISAPPEARED into the kitchen for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. We watched other tables being ignored with food coming out at different times. Shame on staff. Shame on the manager. We went to this restaurant the day that we moved to the area and it was awful. There was no air conditioner so they switched our table to one by the industrial fan, so at least we were comfortable. The waitress got all of our drinks wrong and my mom's entree. It was pretty empty that day, but it took forever for our food to arrive. In fact, a family at the next table arrived after us and was done eating before our food even arrived. We asked for the manager, he said that he doesn't have $15k for a new A/C and comped our drinks and my mom's meal. When he left to get our bill, he was delayed in coming back, so I got up to take my kids to the car before the rain started, (since my mom was staying to pay) and that's when he found his way back to our table. Mine was totally cold and also no wings. The waitress acknowledged how cold it was when I asked her if it could be warmed and said they would remake the order. Horrible service and the wait staff are all liars. We were told a 30 minute wait and proceeded to wait well over an hour for a table. They continued to lie to customers that came in after us until their bluff was called. They then proceeded to sit us in the craziest section at the smallest table possible in spite. I have never been a fan of Applebee's, but we figured this location was super close to home and I wouldn't have to cook tonight. We wanted to also see if they've improved with their new menu and "wood grill" theme. Applebee's has not. Our server Joe was good. No complaints with service and he checked on our table multiple times. He went through the requirements that he's supposed to say, but if Applebee's has to have 2 "if your server doesn't mention this promotion X is free," you should really reevaluate your company and not your servers. I like my steaks rare and understand a lot of places are hesitant to cook it that lightly, but I'd appreciate a little pink. My plates were warmer than my food. I would avoid. Tried it twice in last 2 months. Poorly managed and understaffed. Food is mediocre. Bartender grabs any money on bar assuming it's a tip. I don't understand the poor reviews. I've had really good food and that staff has always been pretty good. The Chicken Wonton Tacos keep making me come back for more. My favorite dish on the menu is the Fiesta Chicken. I've been to this location numerous times and never had bad service, yea from time to time it gets busy and you have to wait a little bit, but with most places when's it's busy just be patient. This is a mixed review. On the good side, Applebee's makes a great burger, hot and freshly cooked to order. The wait staff are friendly and helpful. Atmosphere of this particular restaurant is cozy and comfortable. On the not so good side, seafood and side dishes here come up a bit wanting. The "double crunch panko-breaded" fried shrimp was generous enough in portion size, but definitely not "doubly" crunchy and did not resemble any panko breading that we'd ever seen before. In addition, the shrimp was very thin, salty and greasy. Onion rings were pooled in grease, as well. French fries were not greasy but overloaded with salt to the point we had to brush each piece off before eating. And the coleslaw was so skimpy on sauce that they should be honest and simply call it cabbage. Despite a new device on Applebee's tables for electronically requesting service from wait staff, attention was a bit lacking and forgetful. The device apparently sends a signal to a watch-like bracelet worn by the wait staff, who, in turn, are supposed to come back to your table to see what might be needed. Instead, the busy wait staff sometimes turns off the signal and then forgets to respond. Given the fact that we don't like to make demands to begin with, this non-response led to a feeling of uncertainty as to whether we should push the button again, which might make it appear that we are, in fact, demanding. As a result, we prefer the old method of flagging down wait staff when necessary or, better yet, being checked by the staff on an occasional basis on their own. A good waiter or waitress watches to see which customers might be trying to get their attention. Another weird thing about Applebee's -- at least this one -- is the apparent demand by the corporation that the restaurant manager visit each table at least once during the customer's visit. There is a card at each table stating that if he or she does not do so, they forfeit a $10 gift coupon toward the customer's next visit. As a result, the manager at this Applebee's visited the table too many times for our taste. We do not go to restaurants to hobnob with the staff. Decent. My burger was undercooked and fries were soggy. Picked up the dinner since i was staying in a hotel a few miles away (convenient) but ended up tossing most of my own food. Went with the 2 for 20. Appetizer was delish (spinach artichoke dip) but my burger was undercooked. My wife's 4 cheese Mac and cheese with tenders were "ok." Great service, well-prepared food! This restaurant had the same excellent food and service as the other Applebee's we've tried. My Bourbon Shrimp and Chicken was hot and juicy! Excellent side salad. We also had the Spinach Artichoke Dip. It was the best ever. We had five children with us. The waitress was very attentive and did over and above. It has been quite awhile since I've been to an Applebee's and decided to stop for convenience more than anything. For being after 5pm we were seated as soon as we walked in but in the back corner next to an area where workers were eating and chatting at a table near the bar. Somewhat annoying that they were discussing customers still in the restaurant, what they ordered and how much they thought they would or wouldn't tip. I know it goes on but confused as to why we were sat there with many other open booths/tables open. We ordered a 2 for $20 option of the Thai Shrimp Salad for me which was fairly good but very small in my opinion (when did Applebee's do small???) and Baby Back Ribs for my my girlfriend who said they were not great and certainly not fall off the bone along with Spinach Artichoke Dip as an appetizer. The dip was great until we found a hair. The waitress was mortified and let the manager know right away. He was very apologetic and took care of the bill which was appreciated. We also had a kids meal which was surprisingly large optioned with Mac n Cheese and Vanilla Yogurt w/ Strawberries. They had games on the tablet at the table for kids to play which was a nice touch. Between the quality/quantity of food and the overall atmosphere, I just don't know that Applebee's is a place for me these days outside of late night 1/2 off apps. read more

We been to Applebee's many times usually the service is great it's always a little busy there so takes a while to get your food but generally we have no complaints .They have this new rib all you can eat special going on and that's why we came in this time. I was so extremely disappointed in basically tasted like a leather shoe with some cheap barbecue sauce slept on it. I explain to them how overcooked and dry they were and all they could suggest is for me to have the all you can eat chicken fingers. The chicken fingers were overcooked also I need about four of them and I figured at this point they would've just charged me for an order of chicken fingers and stead of this all you can eat special and they did not. I think Applebee's a great franchise this will not deter me from going there in the future but at this point I'm sadly disappointed. read more

Wow. Should have read more of earlier review. Normally don't like going to chains but when traveling and need a late meal in mid week it's sometimes the only option, like last night. Walked and place smelled like vomit. Really. I wanted to leave but was only place open and my teenage son was hungry. So we sat and had a burger and some apps. Looking around the floor looked there was a food fight earlier. Someone came to sweep as we were eating.
