I don't come here often, but when I have, it's a good meal with a wonderful selection of beer. We come on the early side, around 5:00, and there has never been a wait. The staff is pleasant and courteous, often checking up on us. I enjoy the apps, but the menu is inventive and has new items when we come back. I went there my my family and friends. I ordered a dish: medium-cooked 8oz steak; french fries and baked potatoes. then they brought me a dish: well-cooked 12oz steak; sweet potatoes, French beans. Walked into the restaurant at 11:06pm....Somebody asked us for our beverage order at 11:38pm...This is Applebee's, restricted to 50% capacity and late Sunday evening (closes at midnight). So you can imagine that it wasn't exactly busy. Terrible service staff who looked at us as we waved them over to ask for service 20 mins into the wait with no response from anyone. It was so bad that, as I left, I was walking towards the exit and the host asked us again "How are you? How many? Two?" as if we didn't do this 30 mins ago. Just came back from Father's Day dinner. We were a group of five and happened to order steak for four of us. They couldn't get our order right. We had to switch steak around the table based how we each ordered. Sides were all wrong too. They had to bring 2 sides to make up for the error but I was charged for 1. What? When we pointed out how our orders were wrong, the waitress gave ridiculous excuses like the kitchen got confused with 4 orders of steak and insisted what was brought out were correct. Seriously we know what we ordered. She also pointed our good fortune of ending up with two extra sides. Wow, thanks alot! I don't think we will be returning there anytime in the near future. Went there for dinner hadn't been to this location in years. They had renovated it since I had been there. It looks good the place was very busy it was around 11 p.m. we had had it two for 20 meal.... the food was fabulous. We also had great drinks , food, and service & we're not rushed out of there. We had plenty of time to have conversation and to catch up and not being rushed out of the restaurant. Even when we left around 1 a.m. the place was still semi crowded with people. read more

The worst eat out experience not all because of the food but, much more because of the lack of attentiveness by Nick our server. Came here just because we felt like eating out. Is not that i was expecting much since, this is just fast food and the only difference between Applebees and other fast food chains is that, you have someone that brings your meal to the table rather than going to the counter yourself. Everything is frozen, what can you expect. Our server was very dry and not courteous. Our dishes were dirty as well as the utensils. One of our kids was playing with the paying processing device at the table while waiting for our meals and when paying our bill, i was charged $1.99 for a stupid game. When I asked Nick what was the charge about his reply was " you were playing a game in it".. He just brought the bill and walked away without saying at least Thank you for coming. Tonight was definitely the worst dining experience at Applebee's in Islip. We waited 25 minutes for a seat in a restaurant that had less then a dozen other costumers and the manager could not be bothered helping us. We waited another 45 minutes for the meals to arrive that only arrived after we complained and when they came they were ice cold. The waiter was cleaning tables, taking out the trash, and hanging out with the girl behind the bar. The food was cold and the service was terrible I don't recommend anyone going to Applebee's in Islip. read more

Let me first start by saying I have never written a negative review about a restaurant, ever. I simple don't care enough. However, this experience was unacceptable. The hostess who sat me and my girlfriend down was very polite and professional, however, our waitress Michelle was not. The service was slow, the waitress was rude, and the manager was non existent when she should have came and spoken to us about our situation. Half way through our meal we found hair in my gfs taco. I have blond hair, my girlfriend has long brown hair. This hair was short and dark- wrapped in her wanton taco around a piece of tomato. Knowing that this is an accident, I politely told our waitress Michelle, who responded with a very rude " don't know, I'll ask the manager what this is..." Ask her what? What hair is? She returned 15 mins later, still continuing with an attitude " she took wantons off bill here isnyour check"... No apology, no " you were eating this would you like another one" ( which I would have been happy to pay for). The manager never came over and apologized, the waitress rolled her eyes and walked off. Disgusting and unacceptable. I was polite as can be about finding their staffs hair in my food. I won't be coming back here. read more

I go to Applebee's on average once a week. Every time I enter that heavily heated doorway I feel a fire arise in me. If you arrive anytime after 10:10pm you will even be lucky enough test out their complemental waiting area for at LEAST 30 minutes. Once seated though I can guarantee you'll enjoy a life changing time. Applebee's not only caters to your every need(a waiter or waitress asks how you're doing every .3 seconds) but it will make you feel at home. Applebee's will hold a place in your heart and always leave you wanting more. read more

So that was a beautiful sunny day , we have decided to go Applebee's with my girl friend . But i think that was a mistake to this Applebee's . We went there we order the cips with salsa , buffalo wings , chicken tender and sirilion steak . First the fork knife and plate was really dirty , we asked them to change it but they only change fork and knife they didnt bring to sharing plate lol :) than main dishes are came i asked for medium steak and steak came almost welldone , side fries you can obviously see that its not fresh . This review is based on CURB SIDE or TO GO however they call it only. With that out of the way. Here I come: Went to use the curb side pick up on a scorching hot day, and the waitress decided my infant and I hadn't roasted enough all day to make me wait on the phone while trying to place the order, and be absolutely uncooperative, inconsiderate and rude! I asked for help regarding the combos "granted I had already attempted to look up the menu on my phone" with no luck - So, no not a lazy one here. She acted as though she was swamped with work because every question I asked seemed like it was a bother followed by a grumpy sigh. This is again, specially helpful when its 95 degrees outside and I am trying not to wake up my son. After much frustration I decided to go up there and get my order to see for myself why this woman lacked customer service skilss. Get there and they weren't busy at all. Waht? I don't know if the host was new, but to start blowing her nose in the dinning room by the bar and car side and start twisting the tissue up her nose to go deeper was absolutely disgusting. You thought that was bad she threw out her tissue then went over to a table and started taking the dishes off without washing her hands. (obviously cause she went right to that table) then grabbed a rag to clean the table under the cabinet where the menus were and guess where that rag was..... on top of a freaking garbage can. I went here about 2 months ago with a co-worker of mine and the service was horrible. We went for lunch, the place was pretty quite for that time, but there was some traffic. Now let me start off by saying that this review is all about our waiter, I am not trashing the place itself, because I am pretty sure there are other waiters who actually do their job and I will not blame everyone for one persons incompetence. From the moment we were greeted by our waiter I knew something was wrong. He was very unprofessional, and I don't mean that in the sense that he was rude, nasty, ect. I say that because he was very slow in comprehending are questions and wasn't listening at all. First of all, he was too busy watching the tv screen that was right above our table (we sat by the bar, next to the wall). They were showing an MMA fight and he clearly was too focused on that. The worst part is that he would actually admit to watching the tv and not paying attention. He would literally say "Oh, sorry (he would then point to the tv) that guy was losing". Second of all, he was exhausted and not exhausted because he didn't get a good nights sleep. He was exhausted because he had one too many drinks with another co-worker the night before and didn't get back home until late. How do I know, you ask? Oh! That is because he told us. Yep! You read that correctly, he absolutely told us. Mind you, he mentioned it like it was nothing, like we were just having a normal conversation amongst friends. After an excruciating amount of time dealing with him from time to time, because lets face it even after all of that he was barely checked on us during our stay. We waited longer than we should for our check and even by that time he was still horrible at his job. My friend and I decided to split the bill, so we gave him both of our cards. In the most simplest way, we explained what amount would go to each card (granted both cards were different Visa/MC). Our waiter literally just stood there both cards in hand, and stared blankly into space, clearly burning wood with hard he is processing what we just said. I was completely appalled and I am sorry if this post sounds rude, but I just couldn't believe the service we received by this employee. I work in the customer service field (different areas) and so I consider myself to be very polite and understanding of those employees who are assisting me, simply because I know the pressure. This employee though had me fuming! Afterwards, I immediately e-mailed the company and explained the situation. Quickly after I received an e-mail stating (and I quote) "We received your feedback regarding your visit to the East Islip Applebee's and have forwarded it to Apple Food Service, our franchisee that owns this location. One of their representatives should be contacting you within the next four business days." However, it is now July 30th of 2014 and I have heard nothing from them! Every time I go there to pick up my family's dinner, there is either no one at the register or one of them is rude and incompetent. We like to eat good in the neighborhood! Last night was not one of these time. Being seated was no problem. Hostess was nice and cheery. Drinks were taken care of promptly. Ordered wonton tacos to share with my Lady. That was good. But the side plates were dirty on arrival. Which was after the app came. Asked for new ones from hostess. She promptly returned with new ones. Clean. We ordered the 4 cheese Mac and cheese with chicken and bacon and three cheese chicken penne. Here's where the wheels really start to fall off. When we got our plates. The four cheese bacon I ordered was nothing like the menu or as I looked today, the online line description. Many of the noodles were plain or without any cheeses. Just plain noodles. Hardly enough to mix up and cover the noodles. Oily as all get up. It did not even resemble cheeses melted into a creamy or close to creamy consistency. The bacon? Under cooked. Looked and tasted like ham or Canadian Ham. Rubber. You go online or the picture on the dine-in menu? The bacon is cooked well. Like crispy bacon. Not the case. Bread sticks were not served with the plate, they had to be brought a few minutes later. They are horrible. I'm sure you're not missing much if you asked them to leave it off. Chicken tenders were over cooked. Dry outside and in. The "honey pepper" sauce? Tasted like pancake syrup to me. Looked like it, no pepper taste at all. Want the next plate review? Lol. Everything except the chicken was fine. But the chicken was "really rubbery" as my Lady put it. I agreed. Way over cooked. Server was fair. Really bad night for the food. It Happens. This was as bad as I've had it in awhile though. While sitting at our table, we were basically on top of the POS/hostess station. Whomever, whatever, but some conversations should not be on the floor. Plus the audible cussing from employees at the station? We will not be returning here. read more

I've been going to this Applebee's for years but recently had a terrible experience. I ordered Curb Side and was told it would take about half an hour. However, when I showed up I had to wait in my car on a line just to be able to pull into a Curb Side spot. When I eventually was able to pull into a spot I still had to wait a long time to receive my food. From the time I called until when I got my food it took a total of about 2 hours! I understand it was a holiday and they were packed but 2 hours to receive a couple of dinners is outrageous. When I eventually got home my food was cold and had clearly been sitting out for a while. I will not be using Curb Side again anytime soon. read more

Also, the waitress interrupted us mid conversation by talking over us rather rudley. Food is consistently Appelbee's quality but the seat, table and silverware were crusty. I've been to many applebee's locations and by far this was the worst service i've ever received! A group of 6 of us had went to the half off apps and we had each gone to order the $1 margaritas and the server and manager seemed to have think my friends ID was fake(which it was not) and came back yelling at her that it was fake and that she's lucky she got it back. Then our server had turned on us and asked maybe twice if we needed anything or how everything was. She also left all the glasses and plates all over our table and it seemed as if she was plainly ignoring our table. If we did not stop her to ask for something we would've been sitting there all night. We already were there for over an hour and a half because she was avoiding us. On top of that I honestly believe that they had made our food at a lesser quality because of the incident at the beginning of our trip. Needless to say I won't return to this location. read more
