    mushroom swiss burger

Melissa J was our excellent server. We finished watching survivor and they made the burgers look so good we had to try them. We both got the mushroom Swiss burger and they were so dry not juicy at all and we were very disappointed.

What's not to like on my first time here?!? Our waitress Melissa was attentive and friendly. She took care of us during our two hour stay - time to catch up with girlfriends who haven't seen each other in 3 months. One girlfriend recommended this restaurant. She visits once a week, and has never been disappointed. The food is consistently good, and she likes the service, too. When we visited Wednesday, 6/22/22, all of us were pleased with service and food. All of us had salads and they were all good. I had the chicken Caesar, one had the shrimp fresh greens salad, and another had the strawberry fresh greens salad. We liked the breadstick that came with each salad. All was fresh and tasty. Melissa kept our drinks full, and offered to go cups to each of us. She was a big part of our 5 star experience.

3.5/5 stars We've been to Applebee's a few times now for lunch and dinner. The restaurant can be reached is down a road past Walgreens and a pizza place. We have had a burger, Tex-Mex Shrimp Bowl, Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp, and the 2 for $22 with Fiesta Lime Chicken and an 8 oz steak which brought it to $27. All have been tasty. It is a chain and you know what your getting which is nice when you're wanting something basic and fast. Service has been good even when busy. We would definitely go back. My only complaint is the air conditioning was freezing the last time we were there which made it uncomfortable. 11/27/21. 15 photos.

Stopped here with my grandmother after the outlets. For a Sunday afternoon I was kind of surprised how dead it was. Our waiter was very nice and we were accommodated quickly. We both had the bacon cheese burger. It was alright, but very greasy. The fries were delicious. My grandmother had asked for a side of broccoli, but the waiter accidentally brought out fries instead. He was quick to bring out the broccoli and ended up packaging my grandmother's price (plus more) so I could bring them home for my boyfriend - really nice of him.

    Lunch time vibes.

One of the many disgusting air vents in dining room

So gross! First off I noticed how crusted the air return vents in the dining room were while waiting for our order. See Pic, looks like 30 years of dust, lint and mold. We had already ordered the serloin with mashed potatoes and broccoli. When it came I found a brown/black lump about an inch or so in size in my mashed potatoes. Pulled it out and realized it was a rotten potato chunk that didn't get mashed up. Then I saw brown spots on my way over cooked broccoli and as I cut into the rest of it I realized that all of it was rotten in the middle. UHG! My "serloin" was clearly not serloin but some sort of miss-shapen blob of round steak or something that was completely unchewable. My husband's was very clearly skirt steak as it was supper thin and looked like shoe leather. The waitress was nice enough about it and seemed unsurprised and we asked to exchange it for hamburgers. Since the manager was nearby I showed him the food and he was completely unapologetic and seemed rather irritated to be bothered. Kinda a d**k. After waiting for nearly half an hour, the burgers finally arrived and while edible I don't think I've ever had a greasier burger and the fries were all dry and withered like they had been cooked, cooled and recooked or maybe just really old. IDK anyway, GROSS, DISGUSTING- Worst meal ever. Health inspectors need to take a close look at this place!

Date of Visit: 05/24/2026…read more It was Sunday over Memorial Day weekend and we decided to make a trip to the Ellenton Mall for the afternoon. For being the holiday weekend the traffic was mild, made it over the Skyway and to the mall in no time. After our walk around we were hungry and walk over to the cheese steak place, which is awesome by the way, but they are closed on this Sunday. Dang. That's when I remembered the place on the river. We had already been to one of them and wanted something new. And Whiskey Joe's was it. Leaving the mall and getting there was easy. And once you turn it's at the end of the road. First time here so we weren't sure of the lay-out. There is inside as well as a tiki-bar area. We made our way to the tiki bar since it was a nice day with a breeze. After sitting we were quickly attended to. However there was only the one guy running the tiki bar so we knew to be patient. After he made a round he came back and had our drinks and taking our food order. Since I had a burger yesterday, you would know this if your following me, I wanted something different. I chose the blacken chicken w/fries and the wife ordered the Caribbean salad. I really don't know how long it took to arrive, we were enjoying the view and nice breeze. Then our food came, presentation was good. I didn't take off for the fries, I'd rather have them not coated, these were like Checkers fries. Some people like them that's why I didn't take points off I still had some. Though I did like the chicken very much, it was so juicy. And Like others have noted, the blackening here is just the seasoning not the actual act of blackening. I'm still waiting to go somewhere where they actually blacken it. Now the wife just loved her salad. It too came with chicken only hers had Caribbean seasoning and juicy as well. We only stayed for lunch and a beverage. It is a great place to stop after the mall. Peace.

Service was friendly, attentive, and surprisingly fast. The seafood was fresh and delicious. The grilled oysters were plump, well-seasoned, and definitely one of the highlights of the meal. The fish tacos were tasty, and the side of fried sweet plantains was delicious. We also tried the ceviche, which was flavorful, but the portion felt a bit small for the amount of chips served alongside it. The gator bites were tough and chewy. May be more palatable if the size of the nuggets were smaller cuts. The margarita tasted good, though the alcohol was barely noticeable. Overall, a very enjoyable first visit with quality seafood, great atmosphere, and excellent service. Just be prepared for slightly pricey portions on some dishes.

It appeared on at least four or five of their many televisions. There were also several other football games on. It is definitely a divey sports bar. We did not get food. We got a high top and there was a server that came around and took our drink order. The stools are metal and do not have backs. It was great for what we wanted. The drinks are very affordable. We did look at the menu and it is typical sports food/bar food. If you're in the area and wanting to catch a sports event this is the place to do it.

Korean fried chicken was really regular smokey BBQ sauce on fried chicken with slaw. It was super spicy (too spicy) but not Asian tasting. And way too much sauce. Would recommend with sauce on side or just order something else. The Cuban sandwich was highly recommended by the server and it was an average cuban. The First Ave Burger was just ok. Not much going on between 2 buns. The bread was mush. I'd recommend that they toast the bun to give it some texture.
