The last time I ate at an Applebee's was in Oklahoma City in December of 2007. I remember because I'd just graduated college. The food was forgettable and it was clear that Applebee's was going down hill, WAY down. Consequently I avoided Applebee's at all costs for almost the next ten years- until a month ago. I was taking my 5 year old out on a mom/son date and he wanted lunch. Our choices were slim and I couldn't do another meal at "old McDonald's" so I thought- "what the heck, one more shot". We went to the Hanford, California Applebee's. I have to say, they redeemed themselves. Our waitress was a joy and the food tasted good- with real seasonings like herbs and spices- not just salt and pepper. So we went again about three weeks later and again it was really good- even though our waitress the second time was about as warm as Meryl Streep's character in The Devil Wears Prada. So, tonight we went for the third time and THIS is why Applebee's is only getting 2 stars: We waited a bit to be seated which was understandable because they were packed. Several people walked out. The host (who was arguably one of the most irritating personalities I've met in a long while) called my 2 1/2 year old a "baby" and he got upset- because "he's a big boy". The waitress was OK. She forgot to bring us napkins FOREVER and we had to ask for silverware AFTER our food arrived. Then we were finally eating and BOOM! A hostess walks by and bumps my shoulder dropping an armful of half eaten food and plates on the floor and spilling the food from such plates all over my part of the table, my dress, and me- and my iphone- which ended up covered in salsa. I can immediately tell she is mortified and having a terrible day. She apologizes profusely and says she is so embarrassed. Bro- at this point I'm not even mad. What made me upset was the fact that SEVERAL of her team members walked by WITHOUT HELPING her. The manager just stood against the back wall about 20ft away and watched her awkwardly try to clean it all up- as if she were a child thrown into a pool and he was waiting to see if she would sink or swim. I helped and assured her it was cool. No worries. After it's all cleaned up the manager walks over and talks to us- nice guy- and apologizes and asks how our dinner is and we tell him everything is ok. Our waitress asks if I like the food I ordered and I tell her it's not my favorite. They graciously bring me a replacement item (which was very nice of them). It was a steak salad- which I had ordered before and loved. Well- this time 50% of the pieces of steak (there were 4) were all fat and the salad did not have the same deliciousness previously experienced. So now I'll never order that again because the second time around it was again- forgettable. Anyway, I still felt bad for the hostess and was terribly disappointed that no one offered to help her even though several servers and bussers walked right past her- stepping around her as she scrambled to clean it all up. The crazy irritating host even stopped to watch and assumedly gossip about the situation with the manager as he stood by watching the spectacle as well. So disappointed. When I left I told the hostess it was not big deal and gave her $10. I know what a bad day is like. read more

First, our server Terry was great. Unfortunately it ended there. My friend and I ordered chicken and steak respectively. We ordered baked potato and Mac n cheese as sides. The sides were cold. Notified Terry who promptly informed the manager and brought us warm potatoes. The manager never even bothered to speak to us. My steak was ordered medium but was very rare and I was only able to eat around the edges. Was reluctant to send it back because I simply didn't want to bother Terry and it was apparent the manager simply did not care. Also the salt and pepper containers on the table were both empty. Very poorly managed store. The only star is for Terry. Won't return. read more

Today's experience is the worst we've ever had. We walked into an almost empty bar, sat down, and it took 2 bartenders 5 minutes to acknowledge we sat down. The first girl didn't even greet us, or give us menus, of ask if we wanted anything. After asking for a menu, the second lady comes over to the computer near us, and after a few minutes asks if we want anything. Mind you, by this point it's been about 10 minutes since one them has said one word to us. We order 2 drinks and an appetizer. Our drinks were horrible. A Double Bacon Bloody Mary and a double Jack's. Mary was missing bacon (umm it's in the name, why is it missing), and olives. Plus it had chunks of mix. The Double Jack's was mainly water. So here we are now 20 minutes after ordering and still no appetizer. Within those 20 minutes a "regular" walked in and got everything she wanted right away, including food in less than 10 minute's. 2 other customers came after us and got their order before us. After 30 minutes we tell them to cancel our order and we pay our tab. The lady still has the nerve to have attitude. Next time we want drinks and appetizers we'll be at Chili's. read more

My boyfriend and I went to have a late dinner, we were sat in the bar area at a high top. We were waiting for about 10 minutes without anyone waiting on us, not even a beverage. When we asked the bartender if she would serve us she said only if we sat at the bar. The gal who was suppose to be our server, Stacey I believe walked right past us multiple times. We go to this location quite frequently and it was very upsetting to receive such a horrible level of service. We decided to then go to Chili's. Service is so much better here. read more

I went to this location for the first time since living in hanford on veteran's day. I'm not going to claim this service was great but it was okay. At first we sat outside and then we asked to go inside because it was cold. That was done quickly. I felt rushed the whole time because my waitress kept bringing the receipt to the table for me and my guest to pay every time we ordered something else. Other then that the wait wasn't too bad. Applebee's continues to amaze me with their inability to serve an edible meal. I had the steak and Parmesan shrimp, medium rare. The server did not ask me if I would like mashed or baked potato (I received the apparently default mashed). After only a 30 minute wait I received a medium cook steak, so full of tendon I couldn't see fit to finish. The potatoes were served up looking like the lunch lady lazily slopped it onto my plate. The vegetables (broccoli and carrots) were flavorless. And the five tiny morsels of shrimp were the only bit of flavor in an otherwise bland, boring and unappetizing meal. I only rated two stars because my girlfriends Bloody Mary was fairly good. Unfortunately the bartender only makes the drinks, not the horrendous food. Two steak meals and two drinks: $60. We showed up on Veteran's Day. I get it, I wasn't expecting a Veteran's discount meal just wanted to have a nice lunch with my daughter and Grand daughter. Gave my name and was told it would be a 15-20 min wait because they didn't have a lot of high chairs. It was packed inside so I told the lady we would be outside. Came in after 10 min to check in, she was annoyed (again I get it busy day) and told me "I already called your name". I apologized and said we were outside due to the crowd inside. She circled my name and said "ok it will be at least 10-20 min because you need a high chair." I thanked her and sat down. 20 min later she walked up to my daughter who was sitting next to me and asked her if we checked in. (Again I understood it was a busy day) I told her yes I just spoke to you 20 min ago and gave my name. 10 more minutes went by and I heard her telling people that were walking in "I don't know when I will be able to seat you the kitchen has stated to stop seating customers till we catch up." She didn't inform anyone in the waiting area. After the 3rd time of hearing her tell a customer this and not the customers who were seated we left. We were very patient, I understand it was a busy day however the hostess, (an older lady) was very rude to every customer that came in. This was probably a day where she shouldn't have been working, or at least had some hostess back up. Although there was one younger girl there she kept leaving the station. No support what so ever and just bad with people. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings, which was also very crowded but the service for the crowd was 100x's better. I've just moved here and started checking out local spots. This won't be a frequent for me. I wouldn't doubt if it becomes like the ghost town mall it sits behind very soon. read more

my friend and I stopped in for a beer, bar tender with a beard and pony tail was extremely rude, I asked if we could grab a Michelob and a modelo and he said the whole system was down. (not angrily) I asked, oh wow, the whole pressure system, kegs, and all? and he said "that's literally what I just said". to which I replied, " ok I was just asking, look I understand, I'm a manager in customer service, that is not how I would conduct my employees, all I asked was 2 questions." Leaving Applebee's very satisfied! To start the hostess who sat us was extremely friendly and very prompt, I believe his name was Joey. I felt like we waited a decent amount for a Friday night! First off let me start by saying Applebees is always a great place to go for a casual meal. Today my boyfriend and I decided to have a early dinner. Soon as we arrived we were seated (luckily we did not wait 30-45 minutes like usual on a weekend) My favorite waiter had our table tonight. Hes a handsome and lovely man who always makes you feel comfortable. He has the best manners and knows his customer service. I was entertained when our waiter spoke to my bf with a "Hood" vocabulary. Using words like "Fo Sho" and "You digg?" Then he turned to me and instantly changed his vocabulary to a proper and polite matter. He said I was a lady lol. We came here to celebrate our friends birthday and just to catch up with friends. This was my first and definitely will be my last time coming to this location. Our service was pretty sad. Our waitress only checked on us once. We had to get our service from other members of the waitstaff. Which I'll give kudos too, thank you to them for tending to us all the while our waitress was just walking around pretending to work. I'm already not a fan of crApplebee's, but ended up coming here with a co-worker one day when we were in Hanford for work. We didn't have too many choices and were on a bit of a time crunch. We wanted to avoid fast food, so crApplebee's was the closest thing we could find. The both of us walked in, grabbed a seat in the bar area. Twenty minutes went by (no exaggeration) and not a single acknowledgment of our presence. Not even a "Hey... I see ya there. Be with you shortly." Nothing! The place wasn't even that busy and the waitress in our area walked by 3 times without acknowledging us. The two of us looked at each other and without a word, got up and proceeded to walk out. It was only after we decided to leave that someone yelled out "I'm sorry, can I help you guys?" Too little too late. There's a reason why I don't go into crApplebee's. I was in town recently and decided to go have a few drinks at Applebee's with my family..HUGE MISTAKE! I was quoted 10 minutes for a table for 6 turns out to be a 25 min wait. This really isn't a huge deal I understand the restaurant business and they were probably understaffed. So while I'm waiting I decide to grab a beer from the bar it literally took the bartender Jen 7 minutes to even acknowledge I was there ! She was getting drinks for all of her regulars and then decided to ask me what I wanted. At that point I was over it but decided to be a good sport about it and just ordered my beer. It took her another 5 minutes to pour my beer I have never felt so unimportant in a restaurant establishment in my whole life! She was the absolute worst bartender I have ever encountered ! And the sad part about it was she wasn't even busy she was more more focused on talking with certain customers and ignoring others. Sad that this is one of the few late night spots in town..Jen really needs to be retrained behind the bar when it comes to speed and being attentive to all customers read more

Come down to visit my Navy son and spend a lot of time at this Applebee's. Sitting at the bar, I deal with daytime bartender Nikki, who is absolutely great!!! Extremely friendly, hard working bartender. A true Pleasure!!!! Food is good and consistent...Good happy hour..(3-6 pm daily) with good appetizers/beer/ drink prices...Last visit 3/20/15.. Terrible experience..bartender Julie decided to turn her back on the bar for several minutes and have a conversation with the other bartender while my group and two other groups at the bar waited for drinks/ and to place food orders, while the useless managers stood around!! She and the other bartender were having an ongoing personal conversation which caused them to screw up my food order and forget to bring my wife water, which I had to ask for again..Another issue,ordered a chicken Asian salad for like $11 during a visit a few months ago and wasn't much to it..after this last visit, I'm done here. I would give this place zero stars but it makes you give at least one. The service is okay, but the food itself has been cold and over cooked the last three times we went here. We kept saying we would give them another chance, not anymore. The last time we went here, our food took over 50 minutes to get to us. When we mentioned the long wait time the waitress insisted that we hadn't waited THAT long, when we said we had waited over 45 minutes to an hour. I was thinking really?!?! You're going to argue with us that we didn't wait that long? We watched almost an entire basketball game while waiting! Then when we got our food, the steak was suppose to be cooked med-rare, which it looked like it was, BUT it was like rubber!!! Nasty cut of meat for a ridiculous amount of $$$!!! Oh man! I'm with Erin C.! If there was a possibility of negative stars I'd line them up!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!! Talk about disappointing!! Sad part is, I keep giving them "one more shot" and STILL end up saying "never again". This past week was the most recent "painful experience". Called in for a takeout order. The girl that answered the phone was clueless. Even had to call us back later because something we ordered wasn't even on the menu anymore. She had her head in the clouds from the word go. To make matters worse she gave us the receipt, circled the survey access number and asked for "a good review so she could make her own working hours". Are you kidding me?! If you weren't so caught up in getting your own working hours maybe you could actually DO a GOOD job or get to know the menu. Her name was Britney, Brandy, something that started with a "B".
