Mozzarella sticks, chicken wonton tacos and the beer cheese pretzels are alright in my book. I've never tasted anything decent from the bar unless it came in a bottle already. By now, we all know Applebee's is overpriced and their menu has changed for the worse over the past several years. But this Applebee's had better service than other places I've been. Our waitress was quick, helpful, patient, and gave us our space. Their food was also pretty good. It wasn't laying around and cold like other spots. I wish I could give this place negative stars if I could. Anyways, it's Applebee's. There's not much to comment on the food because I honestly think all the food tastes the same at every Applebee's. The only difference for this establishment in Hicksville is the cleanliness and service. Now, I really do not evaluate a place based on their decor or cleanliness, but this place was a dump. The utensils had little scraps of food on them, the plates also had little dried up pieces of lettuce, and the tables? Our party of 6 wiped down the tables again, which says a lot. Now, I would like to think that we are very understanding people when it comes to service, but this place pretty much crossed the line in every aspect. I don't even remember our waiters name, but he was terrible. He looked like he was new, but we believe he was trying his hand at magic, since he pretty much put on a disappearing act once he took our orders. We had other people serve our food and drinks the whole night, while he was at every other table. Not once did he refill our glasses. We had to track down other waiters/waitresses for that. The icing on the cake had to be when it took us 10 minutes to track him down to ask for our check, then 20 minutes to get our check. In the end, we were fed up and just walked straight up to their little kiosk registers and received/paid for our check. By the time we had finished paying and getting the receipt, he had magically appeared from the kitchen doors and asked me if everything was alright. Magician AND a comedian! I have never been so frustrated with a server before, but hey, I can't always have a good experience right? I understand that being a server can be a grueling job but come on, who doesn't have a hard time at their respective jobs? Put a smile on your face. You'd be surprised that it works wonders for a lot of your customers. Don't waste your time on this place. Drive further east and go to the one in Farmingdale. They have amazing service. read more

Well, hat's off to Applebee's, which recently updated their menu and caught our attention. The seasonal grilled salads, the cheeseburger egg roll appetisers... and a few other things had us stop by the Bellmore location recently. Food wasn't bad, but even sitting at the bar... we felt the bartenders and waitstaff were more interested in each other than customers. So we figured... maybe a different location! We figured wrong. We arrived at this spot at 5ish... so not too busy yet. The bar was generally full, so the wife and I grabbed a high top table. The hostess that sat us was the last Applebee's employee we saw. After 20 minutes or so of sitting there... and being bypassed by 3 or 4 folks working... we got up and left. So happy they didn't get us a drink. 1- I would have felt locked in to ordering something... and 2- the beer selection in my fridge is far superior! Food is always good at Applebee's. Never had a bad meal, you basically know what you're getting yourself into. I've had better at this Applebee's in terms of service. Asked waiter if they could lower the air..freezing inside and his response was...Yeah, I've asked the manager earlier and he was doing something and didn't do it, I'll ask him again but he's working on something else now...."this is what I deal with here" Huh!? Next issue...know your menu waiter man. Asked him how much one of the specialty drinks was on the drink card. He had to go ask someone else. Not good. Sounds like he won't be there long. I've been to many Applebee's but I'm just disgusted by kitchen staff. After waiting 30 something minutes for our food it came out wrong. I ordered the bourbon street steak and thankfully came out cooked correct but with no butter and some red Cajun seasoning which was spicy. The broccoli came out steamed in whole pieces, and I have gotten it before and normally it's sautéed and delicious. They also didn't put the herb butter on the steak either and forgot coleslaw with the tacos. No complaints about the service but idk what people they have working in the kitchen but my foot can cook better than that.... Applebee's should hire new cooks as there are many people looking for jobs. I am very grateful for the waiter we had who spoke to the manager for us as well ! 5 stars for staff, 0 stars for food. also the manager refused to let the waiter comp our meal and only gave us a senior discount. The food was honestly disgusting and I never thought you could make a steak taste that horrible.... manager needs to figure their shit out too because HE didn't even bother to come to our table to apologize.... very disappointed and upset. Haven't really try Applebee's before but my husband saw a commercial with a special they were running. All you could eat boneless wings, riblets, and shrimp with endless fries. Well first we waited forever to be seated. Once seated it was 20 minutes before anyone came over to us. The waiter apologize for making us wait. So we ordered only to be told they were out of fries. Since the partial reopening of restaurants, today I decided to dine-in at Applebee's for a bit to eat. Everyone I encountered at this location was super kind, personable & welcoming. The server, Chris, was attentive & helpful. There was a small issue with my dish and upon mentioning it to him, he quickly apologized & notified the manager. Sue, the manager, quickly addressed my concern and resolved the matter with no hesitation. She even took some time to chat and we laughed together. In a time when people are hesitant and afraid to even make eye contact, it was extremely refreshing to meet someone who was willing to take the time to connect and engage on such a personable level. Just left the Applebee's in Hicksville a few minutes ago after having the WORST service ever. We were seated right away but the place was filthy! There were kids a few tables over that had their French fries and cups and whatever else all over the floor. Nobody bothered to clean it up so people were dragging the French fries around the restaurant. When my father spoke to the manager at the end of our meal, the two of them were standing IN the French fries! The waitor was mentally somewhere else for starters. It took a while for our waters, appetizers, meal, everything. We weren't given plates or forks and knives with our appetizers. When our dessert came our table was filled with dishes and the waitor looked at us confused. JUST MOVE THE DISHES! My sister had to suggest for him to clear the table. I stopped in the bathroom briefly and an employee was texting in front of the sink. I wasn't in there long, but at least do it in your break room or in a stall. I used to come here all the time as a kid and it's definitely gone downhill the past few years. Usually I order the BBQ chicken tenders with the pasta in it (I don't remember the exact name if the dish). I can't ever order it anymore because the last three or four times I've been here they mess it up. Who's messes up pasta?!?! So now I order something else so I'm not inconvenienced. I ordered oriental chicken salad and it was in a white mayonnaise sauce, more like a coleslaw with crunchies and a piece of chicken cutlet grilled and sliced. I had been expecting the oriental orange sauce. Seems the waitress said: that for 9 months or more they had changed it to an asian white sauce. Sounded made up to me as mayo is mayo and never asian (as I know it to be). Quite some time to get a refill of soda, finally flagging down another lone waitress, who also took the coffee with the grinds in it when I asked for a fresh cup and some more milk in addition to the few ounces that were brought in a cup for the 3 of us who had coffee. Seems our waitress, upon bringing a bit more milk (1% i think) thought I had complained the milk was bad, NOT. I felt like I was at a truck stop with plates slapped down on the table for us to eat. We ordered appetizers between us as part of the meal. I got a bread roll cigar shape with my salad and flagged to get a bit of butter for it. Oh wait, something good. I must say the pretzel appetizer was tasty. Got the bill and had not been asked if -as we did- even want or order dessert. Once again we had to work to make the best of it. It's 2022, you'd think service would be better. The vibe felt off since the minute we walked in. The hostess was standing in the as if he wasn't going to let us in, then me and my husband didn't receive a waitress until after 30 mins or so, she rushes us placing our order and we did not receive anything until an hour after, we had to remind her of our drinks twice. I noticed the same hostess treat other white people with better service and kindness. Racism is still apparent on Long Island sadly and especially in a low budget restaurant you'd think you would be serviced better. Before you read any further, let me give you a heads-up that this review is based solely on my experience ordering a veggie burger at 2:30 on a Friday afternoon. I don't know much else about Applebee's, in general, but it's still around, so SOMEONE must be liking it. I needed to occupy myself for two hours while I had a brake job at nearby Honda City. Applebee's is within walking distance and is one of only a handful of choices. Like many other people, I keep a deep-down, dark secret about places like Applebee's and other chains like it. They are always way over-priced and too crowded and noisy, but the food is usually saturated with so much butter and salt that it can't help but fool my taste buds into thinking I am really enjoying it. So I decided to succumb to one of my guilty pleasures and visit Applebee's on Rt. 107 for a late lunch and, perhaps, some over-sized chocolate dessert -- just to give the mechanic enough time to finish my car without stressing out, of course. Just about every restaurant chain has upped the bar on their veggie burgers in recent years, adding the "Impossible Burger," the "Beyond Burger," and even some really good proprietary black bean burgers, all of which are more than satisfactory to strict vegetarians like myself. By the time I learned that all Applebee's had was a frozen Morning Star patty (probably my least favorite brand of veggie burger in the world), I was already well into my watered-down iced tea and was too tired to get up and walk somewhere else. The choices for masking the burger in condiments were really slim, so I ended up ordering it with just ketchup, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. The waitress was kind enough to offer me steamed broccoli on the side, instead of French Fries, which Applebee's cooks in the same oil as its chicken, fish, and other meaty stuff. Fast forward: The burger came out and I immediately noticed it had been completely charred, which I knew would mean it would be solid as a rock, which is an understatement. I doused the patty in ketchup and dropped the tiny sliced pickle on top, hoping these items would provide enough moisture to help me avoid breaking a tooth. When I picked up the sandwich, the stale roll (yeah, I'm not exaggerating) immediately fell apart and my plate was covered with hard white lettuce core, a slim, pale tomato slice, dozens of flecks of some bread-like substance, and shards of solid Morningstar patty. I considered sending the whole thing back, but with loud, annoying hip-hop music blasting through two torn speaker cones above my head, the waitress was having great difficulty even hearing my comments when she asked how everything was. The broccoli was OK, but only because I dipped each crown in a mound of imitation butter before popping it in my mouth. Overall, for the $12+ they were ready to charge for this basically inedible abomination, this was a major rip-off. To her credit, once the waitress finally understood that I was not happy, she knocked a few dollars off the price. It was the right thing to do, but not enough to ensure that future customers do not have the same bad experience when they order this item. As I alluded to earlier, I don't know if EVERYTHING at Applebee's is as poor-quality as its veggie burger, but if this is the only weak item on the menu, I'd suggest that they re-evaluate the brand they are using and, most importantly, teach their chefs how to cook them so they do not come off the grill like hockey pucks. And PLEASE don't serve it on yesterday's bun! read more

I can't believe my 100th review is for an Applebee's, but here we go: Food - The only time I've ever been here is with work people, and after 10pm, when appetizers and drinks are two-for-one. Aside from the usual bar food (quesadillas, chicken fingers & wings, mozz. sticks) they have some tasty and creative alternatives (wanton pork/chicken tacos, stuffed meatballs, etc.). I've always been a fan of the apps here, but know what you're getting - primarily fried/greasy options. Service - Friendly waiters/waitresses who always have the patience to handle large groups and run the food out in sync so everyone's eating together. So why only two stars? Simple - incomprehensible management. During my late night two-for-one food binge with some co-workers, I ordered up two Long Island iced teas with a friend, foolishly thinking that I'd be getting equal pours of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and triple sec mixed with sour and a splash of coke. When our server arrived with what tasted like crystal light, I asked him how it was made - one shot of "LIT mix" and then the sour and coke. Now I don't drink LITs as often as I used to, but every recollection I've ever had of drinking them was the same. It's not an Applebee's signature drink, or one that's open to interpretation. There's only one way to make a Long Island iced tea - correctly. I explained my disappointment to the waiter, to which he offered a top shelf alternative (at additional cost). Since I didn't feel like massacring Grey Goose, Bombay, or the likes with cheap sour mix and soda, I simply asked him to replace our drinks for a call/well variant, using separate pours from whatever they had in the rack. This brought on confusion and a visit from the manager (Nicole). With my appetizers getting cold, I again explained my situation with the manager. I told her I'd have never ordered the LITs if I knew they were going to incorrectly make them. Like the server, she tried to push the top shelf liquor several times, to which I repeatedly told her that standard liquor would be fine. Her rationale for not making it the way I wanted was that she "had no way to ring it". First of all, why can't an incorrect drink just be fixed and NOT rung up? Secondly, I've bartended and used the same Micros POS system, so I went on to explain that if they had to ring it, there's an "open liquor" menu item that would facilitate the bookkeeping. She said that couldn't be done, and continued to push the top shelf option. She even had the nerve to tell me that both sets of drinks would be charged, despite the fact that we took maybe two sips of the first set before initially summoning our server. After more stupid bickering, she finally took our drinks, disgusted, and had them remade correctly. Had that been done fifteen minutes earlier, at the time I initially asked, everything would have been fine. I know Applebee's is a corporation and consistency is key, but managers (and specifically Nicole) need to stop acting like drones when customers voice legitimate concerns. During the whole conversation, I felt like she was reading a script or reciting out of an Applebee's handbook or something. Act like a human and treat your customers with respect. When someone calls you out that a drink is not only incorrect, but unrecognizable, FIX THE PROBLEM, make it right, and DON'T DARE try to charge me for your staff's mistakes. read more

Ahhh applebees where the tables are sticky, utensils dirty and waitstaff are strikingly similar to those of the movie "Waiting...". Whenever I get seated the waiter/waitress always asks us how we are and when we reciprocate the question they always say "can't wait to leave/can't wait for the end of my shift" hah...Everything is frozen and pre made here. And if it isn't it sure does taste like it. Very wary of people reviewing applebees saying the food is good here. (yikes!) yeah their mozzarella sticks are good, but in a take it out of a bag stick it in the fryer good. Went here last Friday with a friend of mine. We decided it was a good place to catch the Knick and Yankee games and get some decent food. The Knicks lost and the Yankees got rained out...i guess that leaves the decent food...strike 3 'Right off the bat' the waitress was a pain in the ass. She did this thing where she says "can i get you a drink?" but then continues to rattle off every drink they sell. I wanted to just cut her off and be like "STFU! i'll take a diet coke". I could have over looked this if this was the only time she did it. But she did the same thing with the appetizers, sides, desserts... It was exhausting waiting for her to finish her rehersed script each time. On to the food. And really there is not much to say here besides, sub-par. it was greasy, sloppy, and unappetizing quite frankly. I've been to other Applebees many times and have no complaints. Maybe it was just this location? i left feeling glutinous and semi-sick. Dont get me wrong, i had a the cowboy burger which isnt known for its health benefits, but this one was extra gross. Trust me. After we ate we went back to my place to hang out for a little. After about 30 minutes of suspect smells and stomach grumblings we both agreed...
