This was our first (and last) time at The Foundry. We were there for my son's birthday. It started off well enough. The first issue was the length of time it took for our food to come. Then, we didn't see our waitress for a long time until we finally asked the water guy to ask her to stop by. Which took a while again. We ordered more drinks. My son's soda was flat and my old fashioned tasted like it had a bite like rye vs bourbon, but I ignored it and drank it. About halfway through it changed to sweet - but so sweet it was like drinking syrup. It was never stirred so the bottom half was undrinkable. We asked for our waitress to get the check, and asked her to remove the flat soda and my old fashioned. She brought the check, nothing was removed. I explained again and asked the drinks to be removed. Next the bar manager came to our table. She explained to me how old fashioneds are made, that they're never stirred. And some people sip them, some drink them with a straw. I've drank old fashioneds for many years. They are always stirred. And never drank with a straw. But she claimed she's made these for years. Someone else came and told us she could take off the soda but not the old fashioned. I said I only drank half as they took it away. Well they won't take it off. So I asked for half my drink back if I have to pay for it. They gave me a new small drink. It was terrible. We paid the check, tipped the waitress in cash (she did nothing wrong other than being too busy). I cannot get over the bar manager speaking to me that way. We will not be back. read more

I'm not a big fan of pita chips so I substituted for chips and it definitely accommodated it really well. The drinks were well balanced as far as the place looks really amazing. Very quiet. I just me and my cousin in here for his birthday staff's pretty cool. I'm gonna be service recommended the wings. I'm actually taking some wings to go. Went to the Foundry Friday night. Off path location and not great parking. We had no reservations so we ended up sitting in the outside area. Cute little spot. Heard the guy next to us order a French dip and the waiter said great, we have only 2 left. So when he came to us I ordered and he said great timing it's the last one. Took 45 minutes to get our strawberry salad which was delicious. Another 3o minutes go by (and the guy next to me who ordered the other French dip had already finished and left) So the strawberry waiter, after more than 1.15hr walk over and says "hey, we ran out of the French so I ordered you the steak sandwich. Huh? 1 hour and fifteen min later you ran out and the other guy already ate and left? I said great, but I'm not paying for it. 10 min later the owner came out. He could not have been a friendlier, responsible and all around nice person. It wasn't that he not only covered my meal but the table but it was the way he handled it. Owning a restaurant is not easy and problems happen. Food - 8/10 Prices 9/10 Place 8/10 I would not only recommend this place but they have absolutely earned my business. I obviously can't give a 5 because of the incident but I will change this to a 5 when I go back and get the service I have a feeling I'll receive. We had a pretty average meal overall. The service started off on the wrong foot when we were greeted by an unfriendly hostess who ended up being our waitress. It really felt like they were short-staffed. After she took our order, she basically disappeared and we saw very little of her for the rest of the night until she brought the check. The dining room itself is cramped, with tables pushed quite close together, which made the space feel crowded and noisy. The bus boy tried to clean the table 3 times and we were still eating. On the food side, we started with the calamari, but the portion was disappointingly small. They also forgot to bring our bread to the table. When we finally asked about it, it arrived but wasn't warm. The side spread that came with it, however, was genuinely very good and one of the highlights. The Rigatoni Short Rib was a solid 3-star dish, decent but nothing memorable. Pasta was not cooked Al dente, and the amount of save was skimpy. The Steak Sandwich Sammy fared a little better at around 3.5 stars. It was tasty and the steak was tender. I ordered sweet potatoes well done, and they weren't. My biggest disappointment was the menu itself. It's quite limited, and as someone who eats a lot of salads, I was let down by the very few salad options available. There just wasn't much variety for lighter eaters. Overall, the place has potential and the food was acceptable, but the service issues, cramped seating, and limited menu kept this from being a great experience. If this review was only for drinks and food it would easily be 4 or even 5 stars! I do need to account for service, however, and that's why it's sitting at 3. We made a reservation via OpenTable. When we arrived the host looked frazzled but eventually found our reservation. We thought he checked us in until I received a call from the restaurant, while I was sitting a few feet away at a table, to ask if I planned on showing up. Oh okay! Once that was sorted out, our waitress came by (not even halfway full and all other sections had received drinks by now) and asked about a drink order. She mentioned there were specials but she did not want to share them until we ordered our drinks. That's fine. We went ahead and ordered the mojito. Waited about 20 minutes to receive our drinks and that is when our waitress asked if we wanted to start with an app. We chose the dip. She left and we sipped our drinks, which were delicious! Halfway through our cocktails a basket of cold bread showed up. The red pepper spread was delicious, though! Waitress came back to ask how everything was and I mentioned we were still waiting for our dip. Sure enough the dip arrives along with the people next to us, who ordered the same thing. I believe this was perhaps a kitchen issue? Regardless the dip was delicious and the homemade pita chips were a delight. We ordered our entrees. She never mentioned the specials. We decided to not ask and just try the menu since this was our first time visiting. The food took about 45 minutes to come out. Rigatoni for my dining partner and the brick chicken for myself. The food did arrive warm so again a kitchen issue? I'm not really sure. The chicken was good - it's not chicken breast as advertised (it had a sizeable bone attached to it) but I do prefer dark meat so that was fine. The candied carrots were incredible! The mash was a good item to round out the dish. The rigatoni was good, the short rib was delicious. As we finished our waitress asked if we wanted dessert. We had already spent 90 minutes here and wanted to just leave at this point so I said no. She left the check then came back to receive payment. I still gave a good tip all things considered but the service was atrocious. There is definitely a miscommunication somewhere. I will give this place one more shot but they really need to work on training their host, wait staff, and kitchen. read more

This was my dinner for my birthday this year with my fiancé and I was glad I mentioned it, because apparently she had been here before for dinner and loved it, and this was my first time. A really intimate place, with probably like 15 tables max inside, and a little bar that can sit also about the same amount of people, but still looks new and fresh, and also be on the lookout because when you're driving the place sneaks up on you. The friendliest service, Lauren who seated us and served us was truly genuine, and I told her I really appreciate that as most restaurants don't have that sense of personal customer service, actually noticeable and appreciated. The food was also really good, the dip was flavorful, could be a little warmer but still very good, the chips were next level, and this was a huge hit. The calamari was lightly breaded, and also I do appreciate the two sauces to choose from when dipping, either Kung Pao or Marinara. I got the Pastrami Rub Tuna over Scallion Mash, and when I first looked at it I thought the fish piece was a bit small, but after eating it, it was the perfect size, and the mash was delicious, and the Wasabi Sauce to dip the fish really made the dish Pop. Drinks were okay, started with a kick and boozy but finished a bit watery for my first one, the second one I had with Mescal was a 10/10 though. This place needs attention, and the fact that it is still pretty low key and food influencers haven't descended to blow up it's spot is awesome. read more

Back again and will never complain, the food really is amazing. It's just way too good. Their music is amazing too. They have an outdoor patio now also to drink in the sun. Kat and Ike are fantastic, they're so attentive and friendly. It's always a joy to return. And we were lucky enough to try the special off the menu French dip, WOW. read more

Came here thinking it's more of a sports vibe ambience, but really it's just a local spot with a good vibe seems to generate an elder crowd. That being said, we got 3 seats at the bar. Our bartender / server were Rosa and her daughter both whom were amazing. Very friendly and extremely attentive. We ordered their wings and calamari as apps, all of that was incredible. Super delicious, crispy and wet. Ordered a bunch of drinks, they were playing some good music as well. For my entree I got the fried chicken sandwich which was cooked to perfection. Nice hidden gem which is close to my home so I will definitely be returning to try more of their food here. read more

We went last night for dinner and thankfully had reservations. It's a small, cozy place. The menu is small but with good choices and daily specials. We started with spinach artichoke dip and it was creamy and delicious, served with crunchy pita chips. We both got the Shepherds pie special and it was also so good. The only downsides were parking tight and they should hire more servers as it was very busy. But the service is good, they're working very hard. I'm glad i found this local spot! read more

We are major foodies and found this restaurant on Instagram. Despite seeing mixed reviews about the food and service, the restaurant looked charming, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, we were seated right away and our server took our drink order within about five minutes. Unfortunately, after our drinks arrived, we didn't see her again for nearly 50 minutes. We eventually had to ask the hostess to take our food order. The place was really not crowded and we overheard the couple next to us complain that our waitress tried to overcharge for fries and onion rings... We requested that our dishes be brought out as they were ready, but it still took another 35 minutes for the food to arrive. We ordered the clams, burrata salad, and the $9 burger special (with added cheese and grilled onions). The clams were inedibly salty...so much so that we couldn't eat them. It genuinely tasted as tho someone opened the salter shaker and poured it on top. The burger arrived without the grilled onions we had ordered and was otherwise very dry and average. The burrata salad was good. After waiting another 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared, our server finally checked in. We explained that we couldn't eat the clams because of how salty they were. When the check arrived, we were told that the burger had been removed from the bill. While we appreciated the gesture, it was confusing that the item removed was the burger rather than the dish we couldn't eat. We also weren't given an opportunity to review the bill before being asked whether we were paying together or separately. The space itself is very cute and has a good atmosphere, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Between the extremely slow service, the issues with the food, and how the situation was handled, I don't see myself returning. read more

My wife and I met our friends for dinner at this restaurant. We were recommended by another couple to give it a try. The dinner started well enough as we enjoyed our drinks and we placed our orders. After waiting for an hour we asked the waitress where our appetizers were. She said she would check, but after 30 more minutes there was no sign of our appetizers. My wife once again asked the waitress and finally the appetizers came out. Suddenly upon delivering the appetizers, the waitress told us that they ran out of the French Dip sandwiches so neither my wife or I would have dinner. No offering of making something else, no apologies. After waiting an hour and a half to suddenly just tell us we would not receive our order was simply unacceptable. To make matters worse we went to speak to the owner who told my wife and I that they ran out of the food and did not offer any apologies, did not say he was sorry, did not even offer a menu to make something else for us. He berated us both and made us feel badly for raising the concern. When we both challenged him he merely told us to get the hell out of his restaurant. We eat out a lot and have NEVER experienced such unprofessional behavior from an owner and such poor customer service. STAY FAR AWAY from this restaurant. DO NOT eat here. read more

I didn't know what to expect at this new restaurant that is a few miles from my home. The restaurant is very beautiful both inside and outside. Basically, the menu and food, in my opinion, is highly elevated bar food. The menu is short and simple. Drinks were good, but $2-3 pricier than many restaurants. We started off with the multicolored beet salad. Very nice and tasty, but lacking something. Needed more vinaigrette or olive oil for taste. Entrees arrived before we finished, not a good sign for me. I guess that they are still working out the kinks. My wife ordered the crusted tuna. She thought that it was excellent, but the mashed potatoes were lukewarm. I ordered the chicken pot pie, which came out hot and delicious. Other food around the restaurant looked good and people seemed to be enjoying their meals. Overall I enjoyed the restaurant, but I think it requires more attention to some detail. read more

The bartender Rosa was knowledgeable and pleasant to talk with. Very pretty place with an upscale vibe yet accessible to everyone. You'll feel comfortable blue or white collar. The food...in a word- EXCELLENT. For an app we had the Yellow Fin Tuna Tar Tar. Very, very good quality tuna which was the clincher for me to order the Pastrami Rubbed Tuna for dinner. That was excellent as well. Great whipped potatoes with scallions underneath. The side of spinach with leeks was very good as well. The wife ordered the Fried Pork Chop and it was communicated when ordering that there is a wait time as they prepare it. (approx. 1/2 hour turned out) She was getting a little "antsy" waiting but suffice to say when it arrived it was so good that she said she'd wait 3 HOURS for it. Yes, it was that outstanding. And my wife is in the business and normally doesn't give out compliments that generous... Our bartender told us it's a very popular dish there and always consistent. The food was so disappointing. We went the day after Valentine's day. They had many specials including one that came highly recommended by our server, so I ordered it. It was supposed to be short rib. What I got was mushy beef with almost no flavor on top of giant noodles with a big unnecessary piece of burrata. I've had short rib many times at other restaurants that have had so much delicious flavor and the meat is definitely fresh. It seems like they recyled the Valentines special into the next day but it was not special at all. I barely ate my meal and the server asked if we would like to take the leftover home and I quickly said no. She realized I probably didn't enjoy my meal. My husband had the scallops special with risotto and he enjoyed his meal. However only half the party enjoying their meal doesn't make a very good experience. read more

Today we found the foundry and we're so glad we did. After reading other reviews, they're not lying about the exceptional and friendly service. The place is very modern and has a nice date night appeal. There's even a cute patio that would be nice to eat aim if this weather could cooperate. We skipped on the cocktails today but they sounded great. For appetizer we got the clams oreganata. The sauce was standard but plentiful to sop up with the bread. For entrees we got the pastrami rubbed tuna and the burger. A boring burger you're probably thinking, not quite. It was smothered in cheese and sautéed onions and it was served with the nice crispy fries that you want. The bun is fluffy but not overbearing. I always think ketchup served on the side in a cute dish is a nice touch. The tuna I got cooked medium rare and it was absolutely perfect and a generous serving. The nailed getting that smoky pastrami taste. The potatoes saved the best for last. Star of the meal. They were whipped scallion potatoes. They were so velvety had a zing from the scallion. They were certainly indulgent but a great partner to the tuna. I hope it gets more attraction because it's in a random spot with not too much foot traffic but definitely make your way there for good food and service! read more

Service was terrible. Even with a reservation, we still waited for twenty minutes. Then they made us move tables. Food was okay...my husbands pork chop was amazing. But the rest of the food wasn't worth the prices. Won't be going back which is sad because we like to support local businesses. read more

When you walk in you are instantly struck by the wonderful warm Ambiance and you are greeted as if you are with family and friends. THE FOUNDRY: Friday Night Went to the Foundry Friday Night with friends, and overall had a great experience. The ambiance was very nice-stylish and comfortable. We started at the bar for happy hour; their special martini was strong but really hit the spot. Our party of six was seated at a nice round table which made it easy to chat and share appetizers. We ordered the Kung Pao Calamari & Artichoke Dip - both were excellent. For dinner, I had the Pastrami Crusted Tuna and WOW, it was outstanding. The only downside was that at 8:00, a DJ started playing music, it got quite loud which made conversation difficult. Other than that, everything was great. I'd definitely go back, maybe a bit earlier to avoid the loud music. read more

New Restaurant Tavern since March (2025) opened up on Woodbury Road in Hicksville NY . They were open today Sunday till 9pm. They are closed for Memorial Day. My server was listed as Rose. But Steve ( owner/manager) sat me and took my order. A young man working there names Servio chatted with me as well. The place is clean and new inside. They did have outdoor seats though I didn't see anyone outside at this visit. Upon entering, I noticed at the podium a list of to do s. On it I saw , put up signs for bathrooms. ( see pix) I ordeed the Kale salad and added chicken the later was cooked and spiced perfectly. Steve, upon request, got me a few slices of bread with a container of butter. I asked about the listed Chicken Franchise. No noodles or sides come with that. Dessert was a tartufo and a cappuccino. Bill without tip was near 50 dollars. (See pix) It was very loud in there with no sound barriers. There were no phone charging stations as my battery went dead and I found a plug to charge it. They have a sign noting no smoking or vaping. They have a Happy hour listed on the outside sign. I'd stopped in again. read more

After reading excellent reviews, we met friends at The Foundry Tavern for an early dinner. The parking lot on the side of the restaurant faces a commercial area. Don't let that turn you away. Upon entry to the restaurant, we entered a bar area followed by an attractive dining area. Our waitress was pleasant, helpful and attentive; she gave us recommendations when asked. The consensus was that our dinners were delicious with generous portions. Couldn't resist trying a few desserts, which were well worth the extra calories. Highly recommend this restaurant. Mediocre at best. Went on an early Saturday night, they seated us although they were full for the evening and had reservations showing up in an hour or so. The spinach dip was the best part of the night. Bread for the table was offered and came but was cold, not bad tasting but felt like it should've been warm? Between the 3 of us we got the beet salad, the pork chop and the steak sandwich. The beet salad for 21$ was extremely small, was simply just beets cheese and pecans. Nothing else. For 21$ I expect an enormous salad. The pork chop was large but came with no side and no sauce, only a very small baked apple and was over the top salty. No side or sauce and mediocre for 38$ is diabolical. The steak sandwich was fine...the fries it came with were unfortunately not hand cut so nothing special there either. Everything was OKAY at best which is a huge let down for those prices. Although the restaurant itself is beautiful, and it wasn't too dark in there which is something I appreciate. read more
