Despite there being only three or four small groups of people seated and fewer than five people at the bar when we walked in at 6:45 pm, it took 50 to 55 minutes to receive two sandwiches. When, after 45 minutes, we asked what was taking so long, the waitress said they were filling a large catering order and even the manager was working in the kitchen. I'd think the people IN the restaurant would take priority. I had the chicken fajita roll up, which was sitting in a puddle of, presumably, lettuce and tomato water. My husband ordered the prime rib sandwich and instead of au jus was given a bowl of french onion soup, minus the crouton and cheese, yet was told by the waiter it was au jus. I saw how many stars this major chain restaurant had and against my better judgement ordered dinner for my husband and I. It was pretty bad for food that should be simple fare. Mac n cheese with honey bbq chicken tenders. Mac n cheese was absolutely tasteless however the noodles were cooked well. The ribs had a great flavor but the meat was kind of rubbery like it was boiled not long enough and then placed on a grill or pan to get a bit of char. Mainly came here the other day so my friend could try the Zombie Drink and even though our visit was short and we only got appetizers - it was not the best. We were seated at a booth that felt and looked like it hadn't been wiped down from the people prior to us (mainly because the table was sticky and there were crayon marks all over it). Overall it just felt very.. dirty. Couldn't sit comfortably at the booths - maybe the bar area would've been better? The food was alright. The chips and queso were good and so were the wonton tacos BUT the tacos literally had nothing in them so it was really disappointing. Literally one small scoop of meat in each taco (still ate it but was a little sad). The Zombie Drink here also wasn't as strong as the one I got at an Arlington Applebee's? Even though here I also ordered a double so.. maybe the drink was rushed and not measured right? Who knows. Service was alright. There was a time, 20 years ago or so, in which this Applebees was on of the first chain restaurants in the area, long before "restaurant row." It was extremely popular. Wait times for a table could be 45 minutes or longer, and people gladly waited. It was not only due to being one of the only games in town, but because their food and service was actually top notch. That distinction sadly came to a stop long ago. This spot is a mess. Another victim of "The Killeen Curse." Food is terrible, as if prepared by cooks who just finished high school and have no experience. And if they do have training and experience, then they're just bad cooks. We arrive at 3 pm on Saturday 17AUG. My family and I got placed in a no -air conditioned area, in a booth made for a small family. We were packed tight and hot the entire meal. It took over 40 minutes to get everyone at the table their meal, and mine wasn't even what I ordered. I didn't receive my beer until I got my wrong order which was obviously left under the heater lamps and completely dried out. No manager approached us at our table to ask how we were doing. Our waiter must've had 6 tables to herself, which is why I didn't complain to her. If I was disappointed with my service here I'm sure our waiter wasn't being properly supported by her management team. As I sit typing this I see a busser and 2 waiters sitting in an unaccompanied area eating food while our waiter is working her ass off getting no help. I couldn't help but to feel discriminated because of my sex, being the only male at the table I felt neglected with no remorse from the team here. This isn't the neighborly place like as advertised. Listen I don't like giving bad reviews, but I was so taken back by what I saw it leaves me no choice. Went at lunch on Saturday 28-SEP between 1245-130pm. No crowded at all. Took a hot minute to get our drinks and appetizer but not really complaining about that. The table across from us had stacks of plates and cups with half eaten food on them, and it was only halfway cleared off in the 30-40 minutes we were there. Idk what these employees do, but when I used to work at Longhorn Steakhouse in Little Rock I would've gotten scolded for stuff like that. But then the main course comes out, my burger lacked a lot of flavor, you really couldn't taste much past the sauce, I even ate a piece of the bacon alone, not even any sauce on it, how do you cook all the bacon flavor out of bacon?. Good food but I think revamping the outside seating could benefit this place. New tables & chairs and redo the flooring.

I give it 2 stars because the server was really great if it wasn't for her it be 1 star. To start off they need to remodel or replace the old booths. Second the restaurant wasn't even busy yet and their was trash on the floors, under our booth trash from the previous customers was left even a spoon was on the floor. The Applebees in Copperas Cove is garbage, so we decided to give Killeen's Applebees a try...Got there right at 6:30 and they weren't busy, maybe five tables and one dude belly up to the bar...we stood at the check in area for a good 5-7 minutes unnoticed by the NINE employees standing around BS'ing with each other. Finally, the host, a nice young gentlemen with some speech challenges helped us and took us into the bar area and basically said we could sit anywhere. So now it's 6:42 and we're settled at our table...another couple comes in at 6:48 and is sat in a booth near us and is immediate tended to by a server. I look to the wife and said "they have three minutes to come and greet us or were outta here". 6:51 comes and goes and we get up and head for the door. The host kid says "you're leaving!" I'm like "yes, no one came to our table, we'll go elsewhere to be served". Went next door to Tilted Kilt...review will be posted on their page shortly. read more

Don't come here. I came in to eat and when I was finished I waited about 10 minutes for my check while the waitresses stood there and talked. My server went out of sight so I waited some what longer and then asked another server "excuse me miss could I please close my check" she said yes. She went to go grab my server and the first thing my server said to me was "I hope you know that asking the other serve to close your ticket wasn't going to get it closed any sooner" then I replied to her and said "well I'm sorry I just assumed she would let you know that I was ready to close out" then she cocked more attitude and she said that she was in the back kitchen helping the cook because there was only one cook. Look I understand that y'all are probably short handed that day but there were other ways you could of told me you were busy. . Then I told her if she could let the manager know I was waiting on an interview at 3:30 whenever she's ready I'm a little early. She said alright I will let her know and also I will let her know about your rude attitude too! I sat back in my seat and tried not to cry because this one employee could of ruined my chances of getting a job there that I really needed because I'm new to this area and just got married. The food was pretty good I will say that but the service was not. I don't know how that waitress thinks she is allowed to talk to paying customers like she did but If this is the type of service I will get when I come in to eat somewhere then that is one less restaurant I will be visiting. I still tipped her but I shouldn't of. She didn't deserve my money. After the interview I went to my car and teared up knowing I probably wasn't getting that job. The dinner was served before the appetizers. The appetizers were brought out about 10 minutes later. The steak was ice which was Medium Rare was cold. The server took the steak back to reheat it, and then I noticed the Broccoli and the mashed potato was ice cold as well. The steak was reheated and brought back and it was really dry and tough. Finally they ended up taking care of the dinner but just charging us for the drinks and appetizer. But the experience was horrible and a waste of an hour and half of our time. read more

(Applebees-Killeen TX) Another customer Returned his To-Go even though the weather was cold & wet. Took 10 minutes for Gen Mgr to address his concerns; money was refunded. (I asked Mgr why he didn't offer the customer a gift card...) My Asian CRUNCH Chicken Salad had No CRUNCH! They left off the almond crunchies. Also, the Chicken Portabella was cold and tasteless. The food service took a while, but we were a group of 7 so I almost expected it. The food was good and our waiter was nice. The only downside was that he wasn't very attentive on our drinks. There were several times that we had to ask for refills instead of him refilling them without asking. I used to LOVE going to Applebee's. When I lived in Anchorage we ate there at least twice a month. I attempted to continue that tradition when I moved here...and gave them several chances before I finally gave up on them. I have had the unfortunate experience of being served raw/undercooked chicken. For the most part, I have had horrid service. I cannot say that every experience was bad...although...the good experience was at the one in Cove...(which I couldn't find on here...probably didn't look hard enough)...anyways... My husband and I and another couple went in one evening to celebrate something and we had some fantastic strawberry daiquiris and other drinks. Our server was great....and I somehow managed to walk out with my glass....which I still have because it's the best drinking glass ever! I would say...if you are going to go to Applebee's, go to the one in Copperas Cove, and make sure you don't sit in Kayla's section....she's not very friendly. read more

I personally had a decent experience at this particular location. I'd never eaten at Applebee's before, however - so I really can't compare it to any other one. But as a restaurant itself, I was satisfied. I went there with a party of about nine of us. Nine of us who were loud, rowdy, unashamed of our perversed comments -- we were probably our waiter's nightmare that day. But he was incredibly patient. He smiled the whole time, was friendly, was incredibly quick to coming to our table to get our orders ... and even when he forgot some of our things (which I didn't blame him for - it was confusing with all our orders ... I'm surprised that he got any of it right!), he was incredibly apologetic before hightailing it to the back. I know. I watched. The food was good. The drinks were even better. I swore to myself that I'd eat the whole thing that I ordered -- but in the end, had to give it over to someone else because I was so stuffed. But you know the kind of stuffed you feel - yet the food was so good that you just KNOW you wouldn't mind eating another plateful right then and there? Yeah. That was me. :D read more

The first thing that you will notice when you enter this restaurant is the armed security guard. I have eaten here twice. I have not seen any disturbances that would require a guard, but I guess better safe than sorry. I have always been a fan of classic Applebee's wings. After 9pm weekdays and10pm weekends, they are half off. You can't beat that. I am 2 for 2 with wings. On entrees I am not as pleased. I think a lot of that has to do with the servers. Promptness of service is where this location loses stars. They are slow to take your order. Slow to check back on your drink refills, etc. And slow to bring your food. The two entrees I have gotten here had obviously sat in the kitchen for a while before they were brought out to the table. Had they been brought out fresh I feel like I would have enjoyed them much more. The problem with restaurants in predominately military towns is that management tends to bank on the constant turn over of residents to ensure patronage in spite of mediocre service. This location is a testament to that strategy. I'll keep coming for the $4 wings, but I think I will limit my entrée purchases. read more
