I had an outstanding experience at Cracker Barrel, and it was all thanks to our server, Ashten. She is hands-down one of the most attentive servers I've had in all my visits here--and honestly, one of the best in the industry. Her timing was impeccable. Every time she checked on us, it was perfectly spaced--never intrusive, never absent. In fact, she somehow managed to stop by *every single time* when we didn't have a mouthful of food, which is almost an art form in itself. Her "fly-bys" were smooth, natural, and exactly when we needed them. Ashten stayed on top of everything, from refills to making sure we had what we needed before we even had to ask. Service like this is rare, and it really made the entire dining experience stand out. If you're dining here, I highly recommend asking for Ashten--you won't be disappointed. read more

We were very pleasantly surprised at the food quality and good service at this Cracker Barrel. We've had widely variable experiences of service and food quality at different Cracker Barrel restaurants. The meatloaf was very tasty and the afternoon menu was very price conscious. So my our meals came out and my wifes found out the cinnamon French toast was way too sweet. The management was kind and swapped her toast out for two pancakes. Perfect, big and hot. I hate liquid scrambled eggs. But that's what she ordered with the meal. Yuck! Now my pancakes on the other hand, came out over cooked. As feared they sat under the warmer too long. If not warmer then left sitting out. The edges were hard, the insides were barely warm. After my wife's complaint, I didn't have the heart to complain too. Being an army vet, I can eat anything. We had to wait on drink refills. Not checked on after the first encounter. Cracker barrel in Harker Heights is going down hill. My fiancé and I came in to get some breakfast and we both got the country boy breakfast. He asked for extra crispy hashbrowns and they came out without any crisp. Which fine it's just something extra we asked for. But then his pancakes came out raw in the middle and they recooked them, but didn't come out til the end of the meal. We also realized both of our steak tips were cooked rare and cool in the middle. They apologized saying their line must be pushing out food. They offered to remake those but we were over the whole experience and declined. They gave us our receipt and charged us for the extra pancakes. They ended up taking the extra pancakes off the bill but charged us for the rest of the underdone food. I will never be back, which is disappointing cause cracker barrel used to be one of my favorites. read more

Genuinely the worst service i've had in a long time. there was about five tables total, more wait staff than tables seated. We were there for TWO HOURS and saw our waitress few and far between and had to keep asking for the same things (spoons for dessert, jelly, bill, boxes.) The entire staff was very obviously high. The whole dining room was very obviously getting poor service and had fallen almost silent but we could all hear the staff having a loud blast in the kitchen. I loudly acknowledged this mess and a (i assume) manager who was sitting in the dining room witnessing this mess immediately got up and went to the kitchen to i assume lecture the staff because for about five minutes after, they were all very active in the dining room. He did end up compensating our meal which is very nice considering the crappy experience. We will not be eating at this cracker barrel again, we would rather drive the extra 20 something minutes to temple than deal with this mess. read more

Flor was our server for a Sunday noontime feast after church. The place was packed, typical for that time of day on a Sunday. She was super friendly, attentive, and made sure our every 'Cracker Barrel desire' was fulfilled. We stepped out on a limb and ordered an appetizer we hadn't eaten before. Delicious. We wouldn't have gotten it without her input. We shared lively conversation with her each time she visited our table to check up on us. My husband and I came into the Restaurant and we were greeted right away by Heather the cashier with a great attitude, we were then seated pretty quickly. Our server was Ciara S. . Ciara was very attentive and sweet. Ciara made sure our Coffee and drinks were filled and kept checking on us, even though she was busy. The food was delicious. My husband and I both had the Grandpas breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly! Ciara made sure all the way to the end we were taken care of! I went to pay for my food and got Heather the cashier again. She had such a great attitude and smile. I really appreciated the great hospitality, you don't see it a lot. This place has really gone down a lot over the years. We just gone to celebrate my dad for Father's Day weekend and they get his steak wrong and I find TRASH underneath mine!! It was the foil tin of their butter thing that was underneath my steak. It was disgusting and they didn't even take it off the bill!! The manager came by and said that it was when the servers were putting butter in As of they use the same mini butters given with biscuits in the kitchen. That doesn't make any sense and even if it did, why was it in my plate?? This place has gone downhill and I blame the cooks and the mangers for not maintaining a higher standard. I had a very disappointing experience at Cracker Barrel. When I asked the manager about the status of my to-go order, she raised her voice and spoke to me in a rude, unprofessional tone. What bothered me most was that she had just spoken calmly and politely to a white man before me, but her attitude completely changed when it was my turn. As a Black woman, that felt hurtful and disrespectful. As someone who works in management myself, I would never treat a guest that way. Managers should lead by example and make sure every customer no matter who they are is treated with kindness and respect. This experience was unacceptable and unprofessional. read more

My family came to visit my mom and we ate there on 12/22. The server was great but the kitchen was not. The server was rushed because she had to go back and get things like the gravy we ordered to be put on our chicken fried steak. And the chicken fired steak was the worst I've had in a long time. It reminded me of the middle school cafeteria. My son and I both ordered it and neither of us ate it. Maybe it's time for them to get a new vendor - at least for the chicken fried steak. Went here for brunch at 11 am. It was a little busy and we were a party of nine. The server took our drink orders and we had a significant wait time before they were brought out. Then our food order was taken. The manager or someone in charge asked if we wanted biscuits/cornbread. These were brought out with no plates. Our food was brought out and the majority of the table's food came out, with the exception of three people. My food was short a pancake, just mentioning it but I normally eat only one of them. When the rest of the food came out, my mom was across the table from me and her food was placed in front of her. My food and my husband's food was passed across the table. This maybe would have been alright if the plates would've not been hot. Not sure why the server could not have walked around to the opposite side of the table. This was not the server that took our order. We were never checked on for drink, refills, or anything after our food was delivered. The place wasn't busy and people who were seated after us were already ordering their food when our server finally came over. Her excuse was that she had to get her blood sugar under control...I get that, but to totally leave customers abandoned with no one coming to check on them is inexcusable. Someone, whether it's management or another server, should check on customers. My husband's food order was also incorrect. My friend and I had gone today for breakfast. We waited for about an hour for our food. I asked the waitress about our food. Before going to check on our meal our waitress decided to take other customers orders. My friend and I watched people who came in after us get their meals and leaving while we still waited. As a Californian, I've never been to a Cracker Barrel restaurant before. There is one restaurant open in a larger city close by me, however, I personally wanted to wait to dine at one in the South. So, since I flew back to Texas for a family event, my family and I made sure to dine here after one of our shopping adventures. The service is pretty good. Our waitress was a bit on the shy, quiet side, but still provided us good service. She came around at just the right times to make sure we were ok and to refill our drinks. The food was actually pretty good. We all ordered something different, for the most part, so we got to try a bit of everything. My husband is a southerner himself, so he knew exactly what to order. He let me try his turnip greens (which was my first time trying by the way), which were quite delicious! I ordered the country-fried steak meal, which was good, but I wish they added a bit more seasoning to the steak and gravy. The biscuits and french fries were quite delicious. The biscuits were light & fluffy and paired well with butter or jam. The fries were steak fries that were seasoned perfectly. Overall, my first Cracker Barrel experience wasn't bad. 2023: Hot mess. Avoid this place. Sat down, and the table had long hair on it. Nothing was wiped down. Later, we discovered why. Waitress was attentive at first and then went off to space. Ordered an Appetizer and it didn't arrive. Food took forever. When our food showed up, we asked the staff who delivered our food where the appetizer was. He didn't see it listed and said he would go find out. He also told me he thought they were making me more gravy since my small bowl was nearly empty and gravy all over the outside of the bowl. My mom ordered chicken and dumplings. Her green beans and carrots were in the bowl with it! Green beans juice mixed with her chicken and dumplings. Nasty. Several minutes later, heard a female staff ask the table behind us (who hadn't even ordered yet) if they ordered cheese curds. They said no and the staff started walking across the restaurant. I called out for her, and then the table behind us did too. The staff came over with it. I began to move our plates out of the way so she could put it down, and she set it on my hand! Literally! She squished my hand. She apologized, but who does that? We were almost done, and the waitress brought us out biscuits & corn bread! Our meal was practically over with, why bother? She also took 10 plus minutes for me to get a refill after she asked me if I wanted a refill. That was frustrating. Cashier was super soft-spoken, and we couldn't understand her at all.** **While there, we witnessed a female staff "cleaning" tables. No cleaning spray was used. Just a wipe across the table with a dirty rag! I was repulsed. This is so unsanitary. Items on the table should all be wiped down with cleaning product or replaced out to be wiped in the back. The server brought bread to the table "even though not everyone had it coming with their order." My order was supposed to come with biscuits and gravy. I had an easy afternoon with one of my friends and let me tell you I was skeptical. The last time I had Cracker Barrel it was a bad experience so I decided to give them another try. Surprisingly my lunch was ok, I had a chicken fried steak with fried okra and hash brown casserole. I say its ok due to things not being seasoned very well and service could have been better. On a good note their beignets are good ....dense but good. The pecan sauce that comes with it is REALLY good. It has a sweet maple taste with a back taste of nutty pecans, when you mix it with the dense bread of the beignets OH MY GOSH!!! I will definitely be back for those. read more

Sadly, this trip wasn't good...at all. We ordered, and waited...and waited...and waoted....about an hour 20 mins later, our food starts coming out. We watched as two sets of people sat down at tables around us...nothing. when the food came.out, it was cold. We complained and the manager came over. Had breakfast here this morning and it was wonderful as usual. No waiting in line when we hit there at 0930. Which was a pleasant surprise. Food was wonderful and all arrived at the table hot and plentiful. Never ran out of biscuits either. I have had several meals here and am pleased to say they have all been delicious. Today I had the Chicken fried Steak with tender carrots, broccoli and a loaded baked potato, while my mom had a big slice of meatloaf with tender Cary, broccoli and green beans. We skipped on the biscuits and cornbread because it was a lot of food already. We both finished our plates with no leftovers so that should tell you how delicious it was. We arrived in Killeen after a long drive and headed straight to Cracker Barrel. We we're ready for good country cooking. First, the food was exactly as expected. Pretty good. Cloey, our wait person, was friendly and fairly prompt, even though she was taking care of an unruly party of demanding people. I loved she took notes of our requests so as not to forget anything. She was a plus. The negative, and why I didn't give a better star rating, is the place is FILTHY. My wife wanted to leave but I was craving hash brown casserole. The management is obviously failing. The food was very good. I've never had eggs over hard that good before. Bacon and pancakes were also pretty much perfect. AND I got my coffee this time BUT I wrote specific instructions about cream. It had to be real half-and-half; none of that artificial creamer stuff and not low-fat. I got what I asked for but for such a large cup of coffee, they sent me an itsy bitsy teeny weeny cup of cream. My order was clearly not packaged by a coffee drinker. I was looking forward to enjoying my coffee but that was not the case. One additional complaint is that I did not receive a phone call or text telling me that my food had been delivered. I just happened to look outside and my food was at my door. On the flip side delivery was extremely fast. I will order again but won't order coffee and I will know to check outside for my front door often so I can enjoy my food while it is hot. read more

I'm livid. I politely interrupt the couple next to me to be sure it's a hair the lady confirms. I see a man running around with a ear piece I yelled to him "Excuse me sir can you please get me a manager like now." He was the manager. I showed him the hair in the apples told him my previous complaint that was already fixed. Explained to him this is to much. He proceeds to tell me they wear hairnets back there. I had to show him again and tell him even they see this hair. He apologizes and offers to remake the whole thing. No! I'm good. I allowed him to remake a ham because we had fresh pancakes to go. He did pick up the tab but to me that wasn't enough. I just wanted to go home at that point. I purchased our toys up front and tipped the waitress because again it's not her fault the kitchen is not up to par. This trip was ridiculous and never again will we go to Killeen /Harker Heights Cracker Barrel. Legit will drive to Round Rock before I even consider this place. read more
