The first thing that you will notice when you enter this restaurant is the armed security guard. I have eaten here twice. I have not seen any disturbances that would require a guard, but I guess better safe than sorry. I have always been a fan of classic Applebee's wings. After 9pm weekdays and10pm weekends, they are half off. You can't beat that. I am 2 for 2 with wings. On entrees I am not as pleased. I think a lot of that has to do with the servers. Promptness of service is where this location loses stars. They are slow to take your order. Slow to check back on your drink refills, etc. And slow to bring your food. The two entrees I have gotten here had obviously sat in the kitchen for a while before they were brought out to the table. Had they been brought out fresh I feel like I would have enjoyed them much more. The problem with restaurants in predominately military towns is that management tends to bank on the constant turn over of residents to ensure patronage in spite of mediocre service. This location is a testament to that strategy. I'll keep coming for the $4 wings, but I think I will limit my entrée purchases. read more

I was highly disappointed and dissatisfied this go around. Not only were we missing half our food when the food finally came out, our appetizers came out with our food. Then it took another hour and we finally just said we were ready to go because we still had not received our food that was missing. When we spoke to the manager, he was incredibly disrespectful and rude and did not want to give us a reasonable solution to our issues. Since Covid, they have switched staff quite a few times and this new staff is highly unprofessional. We will not be visiting with this establishment anymore. read more

I'm writing this review (again) in light of the fact that I'd gone there with my best friend, Evelyn, who was visiting from out-of-town and she'd never had Applebee's before. She stayed at the Travelodge by the HEB and after a late afternoon of swimming at their hotel pool, we decided to go somewhere and eat a-la booth-style. At this point, there weren't many places open (WHY, KILLEEN?!) and I scrounged around on the internet for a good twenty minutes until I saw that Applebee's was open until 2AM. SCORE! So we went to Applebees and conquered a booth. I know that sounded like we had an epic battle for the perfect booth seating, but really - we just kind of scuttled to a table and plopped down. Hence, conquered! Easily. Anyway, we ordered drinks and I let her know that one of the first things she needed to try was the Spinach Artichoke dip that came with tortilla chips. Evelyn is somewhat of an adventurer when it comes to food, so she was pretty gung-ho about trying the appetizer. I could probably recommend something truly disgusting and she'd probably trust my judgement on it, but in favor of the fact that she's my best friend and I would never recommend anything truly heinous to her palate, I knew she'd like it. I didn't, of course, count on just how much she was GOING to like it. I'm pretty sure she liked the appetizer better than the entree. She ate that bitch like she hadn't had a decent meal in years. I laughed at her but in all honesty, I did enjoy seeing her enjoy herself. She even devoured that shit later when we took it back to the hotel with us. I'm taking away two stars because a couple of nights later, we decided to go back and get some more food. Well, more like - she was seriously craving her some Spinach Artichoke dip and chips, so we high-tailed it back to Applebees. It was a little later at this point; it was maybe around one in the morning so we figured a good hour to go, we'd just get the food to go and bounce. Unfortunately, they had already closed the kitchen and wasn't serving anymore. What the hell, Applebee's? Your schedule said 2AM. That's 60 minutes after the time we got there, we still should have been able to get some food. MY BEST FRIEND NEEDS HER SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE. MAKE IT HAPPEN. The waiter "big James" amazing. Kept up with the group. All the orders were correct, even when it was time to split the bill amongst about 8 people. I went on a Wednesday it was $1 margarita day. I mean unless you really like the taste of salt I recommend getting sugar on the rim instead. Only because I can tell it got in the drink and for my second margarita it tasted like I was drinking salt. And my first one was with sugar on the rim and it tasted as it should. Craving some food after we went swimming, my bestie checked for some places that were open to accommodate us. It was about 9pm and most places were closed, so thankfully Applebee's called out to us. Since they close at 2am, we had plenty of time to relax and hang out. I love the atmosphere when I walked in, and it was awesome to sit at the booth. I love to sit at the booth when given the opportunity. We ordered the appetizer, my favorite part about it is the creamy artichoke dip. Having never tried the dip before...well, more like never having gone to an Applebee's before made me want to go just for the dip alone. Late lunch at Applebee's in Killeen today. Ordered the Fiesta Lime Chicken on the Lunch Special, which came with a side of seasoned rice. The service was extremely fast. I didn't ask, but the chicken tasted like it had been marinated. It was very flavorful and juicy. My server, Tonisha, was polite, friendly and very attentive but she never asked if I wanted a refill. Otherwise, I would have given this visit a 5. I saw some other dishes on the menu that I want to try when I go back. read more

This is my second time here since moving to Killeen. The first time was not worth me ever returning back, but today my son picked it, and waaay better customer service. The drinks and appetizer came in an orderly fashion and was on point. Not sure how you're supposed to tip, when you are waited on by multiple people, but hey. It gets the job done. Just dined there tonight and it was awful. My husband and I came in with our two very young children, were seated immediately, and our server greeted us in fairly short time. That was nice. We ordered and our appetizer and the kid's food came out first. The appetizer wasn't that great tasting at all and the kid's were done eating (they're very slow eaters by the way) while my husband and I sat and waited for our food. The restaurant wasn't busy and or server was just standing around and talking the whole time. She told us it would be two more minutes for our food after waiting about 20-25 minutes from when our children finished eating. Finally, someone else ran our food out to us and we just asked for a box to go. Our children are very young (toddlers) so with it being almost 9:40 at night, we really couldn't wait any longer. She gave us our check and I took the kid's out to the car while my husband waited to pay. Finally, he came out and said a busboy asked him if he needed to pay his check. The busboy brought the receipt back to him. To summarize: The food isn't impressive The server seemed careless and/or lazy And no, we probably won't be coming back. I generally like this place. I love their deal on alcohol. I mean really, $2 refillable margaritas? You can't top that. I got 5 plates, and 6 drinks and paid $55. You can't beat that. So we went on a friday without reservations which is always a wait at restaurants. BUT they had no ability to coordinate their waiting list different people kept coming up to everyone asking names because the list kept going missing. When they did finally seat us the table was disgusting and they did not even pretend to clean underneath it. We watched them flip it. It's an applebee's so you know what you're getting with the food, basic crappy chain food. We really just went for the drinks they're cheap and they taste cheap. A person in my party asked for BBQ sauce they didn't get it until we asked for the bill. They brought out the wrong dish for me entirely after a long wait they finally got it right. I got the four cheese pasta from the deals in back of menu. It tasted like watered down alfredo sauce. Not cheesy no flavor pretty repulsive honestly. They cooked the steak as they were supposed to but that's all I have. Service was mediocre at best even taking into consideration they were busy. Went to applebee's last night , first time in awhile and it will be the last time I ever set foot in there. First salads were served on hot plates, one salad was sent back because the lettuce was old and all they did was cut the lettuce up and re-plate on a different plate, my salad had some brown spots on the lettuce and it looked like it was just thrown at the plate whoever made it has no pride in their work. Who checks the plates before they go to the table? apparently that person is too stupid or just doesn't care to make sure they look right. There were 3 steaks ordered with baked potatoes and the baked potatoes were ordered with just butter and sour cream which they didn't bring when the steaks came out, the steaks were ordered medium rare and medium well, one server took the order and 2 different ones brought our orders out, the lady that brought the steaks out was wearing a purple shirt and said here are the steaks I asked which one is medium rare and which is medium well ? she replied oh just cut into it and you will be able to tell. LOL what a complete BS answer a server bringing food to the table not knowing what seat it went to and what temp the steaks were. The wait staff was clueless and no sense of urgency and the table next to us had the same waitress and same problems, she seemed put out that she was having to work. LOL we went to pay the bill and were told if we were paying by card we had to use the machine on the table we got a 2 second explanation of how to use it and she walked off. I almost forgot I had the loaded shrimp fajitas and they were bland ! I had to load them up with salt and pepper to make them edible they were not seasoned at all, I have worked as a cook and a sous chef I have an associates degree in culinary arts and I am working on a bachelor's degree in culinary and restaurant management, I know it gets really busy in a kitchen at times and there is a lot going on but there is no excuse for bland food coming out of a kitchen especially when your staff knows it is wrong. If it were up to me most of the staff in there would be fired for not caring about the food they put out and for having no sense of urgency. I guess applebee's fell into the same thing that most restaurants fall into in Killeen is that you hire people that don't care or kids that don't know anything and you don't train them or you hire butter heads to manage these places and they won't or can't fix anything because they just don't care either. read more

Our family have never felt discriminated in our whole lives until we went to this Applebees. We had the rudest server name Tatannia that night. She gave us the stinkiest look as if we don't belong there. We ordered our food and waited. She gave us our food without any silverware to eat with. We waited for more than 10minutes for silverware until she showed up. Mind you our food has gotten cold...ugh. We asked her for silverware and she said they are short of workers to role up silverware if we would settle for plastic forks and spoons. I said, "Just give us something to use," hoping she would use her brain and give us good silverware like every other customer in the restaurant was getting except for us. She actually came back with plastic forks and knives and gave it to us. Oh no! I told her again, "Are you serious?!" And she asked again with the rudest look on her face, "Did you want me to go role you guys some forks in the napkins?" That was it for me. I got up and asked for the manager. Really bad service. We got the two for 20 and paid the extras to get the steak. Asked for medium and got well done. The steak was nasty it tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill and I couldn't even finish it. My pink lemonade was a powder mix and my husbands beer was flat. The only good thing was the fries. The artichoke dip was very mediocre as well. Worst $40 I spent on a meal and I won't be returning. First let me start off by saying it's not busy in here right now. We arrived round 5 pm. We order the 8oz steak with steamed veggies, the $29 dollar meal deals. Almost 20 waiting, finally gets here my steak looks good but has a bad burnt taste, now my husband steak is flat and charcoal and the mushrooms are cold! We wait 10mins I finally got up and took the food to the waiter and waited another 20 mins for another steak that was full of fat. The service is terrible. Every time I come here it takes about 15 minutes for our server to come get our order for drinks, and another 30 minutes for them to come back for our meal order. After 40 minutes waiting on our food my steak was over cooked. Recommend going to the Applebee's in copperas cove instead for better service and food. read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon around lunch time, and asked if myself and wife could be seated on the patio as the weather was really nice and the hostess said sure and proceeded to show us to our table, once outside she said our server would be with us. After of about 10 minutes of waiting on a server to come take our order we finally got up and left. We took our business to the Garage that has a ton of outdoor seating and has a wait staff that took our order in a timely manner. read more
