Ordered a DoorDash order tonight since I was alone for dinner. I ordered the appetizer trio with wings (hot honey), pickle chips, and chicken wontons. These were all cooked well, warm when arrived and fresh. The taste was very good. The chicken wontons are absolute FIRE (as the kids say now-a-days). I ordered the Bourbon Street Mushroom & Swiss Burger. Nothing like what was pictured. There was a very very small amount of onions & possibly 3 pieces of mushroom (dime size pieces at best). I could not see any onions or mushrooms. I asked the server if maybe I received the wrong burger. After the server told me that they were "under the cheese", I removed the top bun and still saw nothing. Then I removed the cheese and WOW...almost nothing! After she apologized, she brought me a big plate of onions (not caramelized) with another 3 pieces of mushroom...How Special! If I could give it zero stars, I would! Just Pathetic!!! read more

I debated between 2 and 3 stars. The food and service was good so I went with 3 stars, but it was hard to get past the smell - definite odor of a dirty, soured mop. So glad that I visited the bathroom AFTER I ate. Overall, the restaurant is rundown. read more

The food was good and the service was ok. The atmosphere was lacking this night. They were crowded which is great! They had some empty seats so why they would set a couple next to a large group with LOUD KIDS, I have no clue. The air wasn't working good which made it even worse. I am writing this because it was my first Applebee's experience, and what the heck. We had a family gathering in Kingsport, and everyone stayed nearby at the Red Roof (formerly Comfort Inn), and our midwest family members suggested Applebee's. Some of our family refused to eat there, but I thought it was a great chance to see what this chain is about. Here's what I found out: - It's about TVs and sports. There were TVs everywhere, half the wait staff was wearing Tennessee Vols gear for game day, and even the bathroom has loud game coverage blasting. A positive for some, a total negative for people like me. This can't be good for your digestion. - It's about meat. My sister is vegetarian. Total number of vegetarian entrees on the huge menu? Zero. Side dishes that are vegetarian? Close to zero, unless you want the kids' mac and cheese that is obviously made from a box of Kraft's. She had to have a salad, and to tell them not to put bacon on it. Seriously, Applebee's, put a meat-free pasta and a frickin' veggie burger on the menu. It won't kill you and it might help some of your customers. Insisting that everyone eat meat is so 1982. - It's about big portions. Everyone had plenty on their plate, and the spinach artichoke dip would easily feed four people as an appetizers. I had the spinach salad with prawns, and it was meal-sized. And the sauce the prawns were sauteed in was delicious, maybe just some bottled bbq sauce, but it really worked. So now I've done it, and gone to middle American Applebee's land. Now I never need to go back, but if I find myself on the road in middle America, at least I know I can go there and get a great salad. But I'll bring my earplugs and tune out the football. read more

Just your average Applebee's, nothing special. The server was friendly and the food came fast. Nothing remarkably good or bad. The artichoke dip was a bit cool. And that's what I usually get at an Applebee's, a bit cool, bland experience. With the Cheddar's nearby, not sure why anyone would come here, but we had not tried the Cheddar's yet. Food was awful !! There were 4 of us and bill was over $65.00. The best thing we got were the appetizers. The potatoes with my meal were burnt {I had the Chicken & Shrimp}. An order of Ribs had no meat on them, Steak was not good at all. And last but not least, I really didn't know anyone could mess up on a Chicken Tender Salad, but your restaurant certainly did !! Now I understand why there were people waiting at every other restaurant except Applebee's ! I could have gotten a better meal at a hamburger joint !!!! read more

Atmosphere was good staff was nice and food came out quick. Only issue I had is I remember them having more items on the menu it seemed kinda lacking in any sort of variety. Now don't get me wrong the food is great just wish there was more on the menu read more

Friendly staff, decent food, floor & tables were clean, beer prices are a little on the high side. My major complaint was they failed to get all the excess water out of vegetables so my steak needed a personal flotation device. read more

Applebees has my favorite steak ( The Bourbon St.) But I have to drive to the one in Bristol, VA to actually enjoy my meal because the one in Kingsport has went down hill over the past several years since other restaurants have came into the area, very dirty and very poor service. Ive Given it numerous chances but will just drive the extra 20 minutes to other locations or just go elsewhere from now on. read more

Stopped in Kingsport after a four wheeler race and was headed home to Kentucky. The experience was not up to par with other Applebee's. It wasn't crowed when we got there but it seemed to take forever to get our food. The waiter made excuses because of a local festival. The waiters service was great and the greeter worked hard to right the wrongs. First wrong was a funny tasting coke, which never got replaced. Second was a medium well steak that was dry and very well done. Third was steam broccoli that was hardly steamed and was re-steamed. The greeter or assistant manager said they had to ask for re-steaming, but isn't steamed broccoli just broccoli if it's crunchy? Then I paid and asked for a receipt which I never got. I will continue to eat my steaks and steamed broccoli at Applebee's because they are the best, just not at Kingsport. I used to love Applebee's and wanted someplace we had not been in a while for lunch today and they advertised 6.99 burgers and other lunch choices in 12 min like chicken roll up fajhitis and I told them plain burger with mustard and onion only, they brought out one with cheese and I told them my husband can't eat cheese, so they took back and another 20 minutes til they brought out and mine was ice cold, hate cold fries! So the 12 min free is bogus and when the bill came and mine wasn't 7.99 it was 8.79 server said it was tax, but tax was added below..... We won't go back it was terrible and not busy oh and the 6.99 burger was 7.99 on bill .... Oh you ordered no cheese so we can't do the 6.99 special isn't it more expensive to add cheese?.......no response. read more

I've been to many Applebees, in different states in the Eastern US. This was the worst I've been to. We went on Easter at 7pm, golf was loud, it was slow. Host needed to smile. Waitress was professionally nice and efficient with taking order and service, but pretty much brushed off the idea we might actually want dessert (so she lost the sale). French onion soup was worst I've had, small portion, barely lukewarm and a total waste of money. (3 of us ordered it, 3 of us agree on that.) Steak was cooked as ordered and okay, but broccoli was barely lukewarm and wimpy. I didn't mind over salty fries, but don't order the fries if you don't like a lot of salt. The floor under the booth and by the window sill was a mess. Oh, and I'm 47 but didn't have id so my son had to order my beer for me, so make sure you bring i.d. We could have had a much nicer dinner somewhere else for the money we paid. I am really not a picky person at all, but I was very disappointed with this meal. Did not meet corporate standards at all. Nasty place. Nasty workers. Food and utensils on the floor. We were there for an hour and a half and not one worker picked up any trash off the floor. Not even the manager. They just continued to step over the trash. (And it was not that busy) Just plain nasty place. Poor management for sure. I placed an Order for Pick up today, 12/13/15, and I wish I had gone thru the Containers before leaving the Restaurant. I paid when I placed the order. Never ever ever again...My Order came to over 57.00 for My Purchase. Ordered the Fiesta Chicken Chopped Salad for my Entree. I was shocked to see the Huge Container and a very Small Dinner Salad in this Container. You would have at least the Bottom of the Container would have been covered by the Salad, but NO...You could see the bottom of the Container. Very Disappointed. If I did not live 30 minutes away I would have drove it Right back there, got my Money back, and went somewhere I could have got my Moneys worth. I also ordered An Appetizer Sampler - Really???? A taste to please every taster, mozzarella sticks, spinach & artichoke dip, cheese quesadilla grande, contains bacon and our popular boneless wings... 3 Boneless Wings and 2 Celery Sticks...Very Runny Artichoke Dip, and oh by the way The Chips were Loaded with Grease , could not eat most of them, had to pick thru to find Chips that were edible.
